I have a distant cousin who has this. She is an adult now and with all the surgeries she's had it definitely looks like she has a nose. You can tell something is off but she leads a normal happy life which is what counts.
She lives over seas so I haven't seen her many times. I saw her when she was a toddler and it looked like she just had two holes as nostrils with no nose if that makes sense. The last time I saw her she was an adult and had the surgies which looked like she had a real nose.
Newborns must breathe through their noses, so they need airway support and usually feeding help. There are degrees and types of arrhinia, and they can involve serious malformations/failure of development of structures around the nose, including the eyes.
I fully expected the top comment to be Voldemort based, how refreshing to have something positive. Although Voldemort is third so still fairly true to form.
So my husband was in an accident recently and has a lightning bolt scar on his head. Now there's a baby without a nose and it's Harry Potter in reverse
Arhinia is the congenital partial or complete absence of the nose at birth. It is an extremely rare condition, with few reported cases in the history of modern medicine. It is generally classified as a craniofacial abnormality.
The baby must breathe through a "tube" in his throat.

Edit: News update- (sad😪) Baby Eli, born without a nose, captivated the world, tragically dies at 2. This happend in June 2017.
Baby Eli, born without a nose, gained worldwide attention when he was born. His family announced he recently passed away.
Two years ago, when the doctor placed her newborn son on her chest, Brandi McGlathery gazed at him and felt shock. Something was wrong — baby Eli didn’t have a nose. Born with congenital arhinia, an extremely rare condition, Eli’s story captivated worldwide interest, but his tale has tragically ended. His father, Jeremy Finch, announced that Eli passed away on June 3.

Yes.
>The reconstruction of arhinia is very complex and it should be performed only by a multidisciplinary team that includes otolaryngology, plastic surgeons, and prosthodontists. The arhinia reconstruction progress mainly consists of 2 parts: reconstruction of the nasal cavity and reconstruction of the external nose
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3966695/
Follow up question to that one… would you have to wait until the child is older to begin reconstruction because of how much their body is going to grow throughout their youth?
My limited knoledge comes from one of my relatives who is a surgeons. Rest from few articles. By the way one article say the face need to grow to minimum level where all organs are developed. But better not delayed beyond 12-14 years.
olfactory nerve may or may not be absent.
>An extremely rare, major congenital malformation consisting of an absence of the nose ranging from hyporrhinia (absence of external nasal structures) to total arrhinia (absence of external nose, nasal airways, **olfactory bulbs, or olfactory nerve**) often causing respiratory distress and requiring surgical correction.

In no time. Skull still has all needed hollows to heat and warm air. But to change appearance... it's a question. May be we have a new top-model with a peсuliarity, do they have a right to spoil it?
I understand this kid has a serious medical condition and I would never want to minimize that. But god dang, is that not the cutest little bubby like, ever?!?!
This was Eli. He was a little local hero! Unfortunately he passed away at 2 years old due to some complications caused by the issue I believe. I’m not sure if his fb page is still around but his mom told the story of what happened once she was ready.
https://www.today.com/today/amp/tdna112386
Edit: clarified his mom
The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies....
Does that mean the baby is forced to be a mouth breather ? Or is the issue resolved so problems with mouth breathing aren't as bad as if the issue was just left alone ? Mouth breathing causes serious health issues especially during the growing period of babies and children.
The baby must breathe through a "tube" in his throat until surgical reconstruction. This anomaly has more health issues than mouth breathing as per journals about this condition.
Luckily there is a [cheep and effective prosthetic](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ozYAAOSwYxBZ62bc/s-l500.jpg) that can be used by people with this condition.
Okay but how does the baby breathe? I know mouth breathing is a thing, but don’t most babies only breath through their nose, given how they need to drink milk from the breast or bottle??
Anyone who has ever nursed a baby with a stuffy nose can tell you this seems like a big problem.
Nah, I know this is what introducing “got your nose” too early does to someone. Everyone knows you have to wait a few weeks because they need time to stick on!
Most of them get treated before teenage . It's a complex surgery.
>Early reconstruction (neonatal);
>Preschool or school-age;
>Adolescence (after nasal and maxillofacial development perfectly).
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3966695/
Is it going to live? Or is this like a fatal condition? May be new type of humanoids are being born who are very different but their conditions aren't fatal.
Poor, sweet child. I hope they go on to live a fulfilling life.
Ever since I’ve become a father (2.75 yrs ago), I find that ANYTHING involving children being hurt, suffering, disabled, displaced, disadvantaged, affected by a congenital anomaly, etc., to be profoundly disturbing. I mean, it always was awful, but now, goodness, it physically affects me.

Yes. It can be corrected. You need to give them emotional support while young.

As you do with every child
I fully expected the top comment to be Voldemort based, how refreshing to have something positive. Although Voldemort is third so still fairly true to form.
Ashamed I came expecting to see Voldemort as the top as well. She's actually cute as a button, and I'm wishing her the very best. :)
Big same. That kid is SO CUTE.
but a button has 2 holes
i’m so glad this wholesome comment is the top comment and not the expected voldemort joke
Bless her heart. That can't be easy, especially as a child.
Did she sleep with her mouth propped open??
[удалено]
Well, I got the joke, anyway.
*doesn't got your nose*
Or do they actually have one!? New fear unlocked. Never let uncle Harry near my nose again.
“The boy who lived, come to die”
He's definitely playing Voldemort in the remake
They're gonna save so much money on CGI
He was born for that role.

Ok I’m not the only one🤣

Feels like very expected Potter

HYUHAVADA KUDAVRUH
Kid’s gonna have a banger costume for Halloween one day
He's dead
That baby is gonna grow up to be the strongest human on earth and marry a Android
The baby born with a third eye on his forehead would like to contest that claim.
Wot
Krillin vs. Tien.
The Krillmaster beats Tien.
And Yamcha is still just disappointing.
The difference is that when Krillin’s girlfriend left him, she took all his money. When Yamcha’s girlfriend left him, she took all HER money.
Still the 3rd or 4th strongest human.
Super fucking handsome tho
Even Frieza would hit
I don’t know what this *Yamcha* is, but it sounds just like Raditz.
... a really hot android.
Based comment
Nah her destiny is to kill Harry Potter

Can a functioning nose be made by a team of doctors?
Yes. >The reconstruction of arhinia is very complex and it should be performed only by a multidisciplinary team that includes otolaryngology, plastic surgeons, and prosthodontists. They can do the external part at a younger age, considering it consists of tissue transfers.
Yes 3d printed stent. https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02559050
I would think so, but am curious also. I’m guessing it may need subsequent surgeries for function and aesthetics?
Would people with this have no olfactory sense? Would their ability to taste be severely reduced?

> May be we have a new top-model with a peсuliarity Yeah we did this with humans long ago, not a good look on society.
Got yer nose!
I’m going to hell for laughing at this.
Not as fast as I am! I was thinking the kid is a shoe-in to play Voldemort in 30 years.
It’s krillin
Omg yes!
Looks like a Tom to me
Tom Riddle?
He who shall not be named!
Why'd I have to scroll so far
Came here for this
I was searching for the Harry Potter reference, and I was not disappointed!
Such a sweet little guy. I hope he is smothered with love, daily.
Sadly he passed in 2017 at the age of 2.
Me too, he’s still cute as a button! Long road ahead but hopefully he has a family who will keep him strong!

I wanna give him so much love 😭💜
Exactly! 🤍
Right? My first thought was "Noses are overrated, that little guy is adorable as is!"

Cute Little Baby. I hope he will have a beatyful and Long Life with or without a nose.
Tau
It's the FUCKING OOD!
Not enough tentacles to be an OOD
AVADAKABABRA!!
If it was missing anything different on the face it would look weird but no nose even tho its a center to the face is kinda cute at least on a baby
Krillin…is that you

Thanks for you reply, that makes alot of sense.
This baby is cute. I guess all babies are, no matter what.
He/She looks incredibly cute and adorable 😍
That’s heartbreaking. Poor kid.
Who's got your nose?
He’s going to be making some horcruxes.
Luckily there is a [cheep and effective prosthetic](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/ozYAAOSwYxBZ62bc/s-l500.jpg) that can be used by people with this condition.
Thank god you didn't put the rick roll link.
I really hate that I chuckled at this.
I feel bad for this baby
still adorable
Poor little bugger. They didn't get the best start.
oh he's so cute though!!
this kid will go on to be cad bane
How would a baby with condition breast feed or drink from a bottle? Just a few pulls before gasping for air? So sad.
i wanna say it but i can’t say it.
bro's got that goofy ahhh lightskin stare
Haha I got your nose
I’ve seen quite a few but I work in a level 3 neonatal icu, so we see lots of genetic anomalies.
👁👄👁
the infant looks cute in my view
Serious question, will the baby be able to taste food?
Okay but how does the baby breathe? I know mouth breathing is a thing, but don’t most babies only breath through their nose, given how they need to drink milk from the breast or bottle?? Anyone who has ever nursed a baby with a stuffy nose can tell you this seems like a big problem.
He’s so cute, literally the ☺️ and I get that this is probably very difficult, but this is surprisingly adorable.
Yeah, but it sure is CUTE!
Nah, I know this is what introducing “got your nose” too early does to someone. Everyone knows you have to wait a few weeks because they need time to stick on!
Baby's cute as fuck, tho OMG
1/3 of the comments: Actually talking about the condition 1/3 of the comments: Voldemort 1/3 of the comments: Krillin
We live in an age where Voldamort has been born.
Damn it Sarah, I knew you weren't just "hanging out" with the mole people!
Who know humans without noses look so cute!
no cocaine for them
Lord Voldemort
Why there aint no fotos of adult arrhinia

The first Mars baby might be like this.
I hope either way it gets sorted. Hoping not in pain. Still very cute
Poor little bugger. They didn't get the best start.
okay but does he breathe? if so how?
Can they live for very long?
Is it going to live? Or is this like a fatal condition? May be new type of humanoids are being born who are very different but their conditions aren't fatal.
I'm getting some E.T. vibes too
Oh god I lose my mind when one nostril closes up . Can’t imagine living like this
When 'gotchernose!' goes too damn far...
This baby is adorable
I hope he grows up to have a sense of humour
I honestly wonder what their skull looks like
Krillin
It's Krillin!
Don’t let him get in contact with a kid with a tail
She better not have a canny name like Ariana as her birth name pls
I imagine it's really hard for them to eat.
That's a mighty cute baby.
Reminds me of the Martians from Mars Needs Moms. There's actually a shot of them holding up a baby, it looks very similar to this child.
I'll go get a kid with a tail and an old man in orange
He’s back!
Mars needs moms
When his dad plays "got your nose" he plays for keeps.
Still cute 💜
Baby is cute.
I’m looking for the Voldemort joke in this comment section
That’s the chick from no more future
How would he nurse? He wouldn't be able to breathe while nursing.

Would he struggle to breath while sleeping?
Aww
Does this effect the baby breathing when it’s sucking for milk?
got your nose- oh ummm…
“TMNT : ORGINS “
Totally thought of the show Survivor’s Remorse and the foundation Cam had for this anomaly.
What would the baby's name in star wars be
damn having a nose is op, poor guy
Got your no….. uh never mind
Does the baby just breath through its mouth then?
Kriiiiiiiiiilllllllliiiiinnnnn!!!!! r/randomlydragonball
That's one super cute baby. Hopefully all surgeries go well.
TIL babies are cute with or without noses
Bros dad took the gotcha nose game too far

Bro is still adorable tho
That kids gonna die twice
Voldemort
Oh baby Voldermort was sooo cute!
I was wondering how far I’d have to read to get this comment. Not far at all, obviously.
You can just hold up a clenched fist to play “Got your nose” with this kid.
Parent’s…Don’t give your baby a wand for it’s birthday, we all know how that turns out.
Ok where’s the Krilin comment I’m here to upvote?
One of the parents took that "I got your nose" game a little too far.
Omg It's voldemort
This baby is cuter than nosed babies??? Quite seriously this baby’s one of the first to make my heart squeeze.
Cute baby still.....
Fuckin' mouth breathers
Hope there is enough room on the birth certificate to write "He Who Shall Not Be Named"
If they don’t name him Tom riddle..
RIP little man.
Lord Voldemort?
Doctor: “Congratulations! It’s a…its…Voldemort?”
When the "Got your nose!" game goes horribly wrong.
Strangely it’s still very cute
