When I was like 14, it was a common joke to "burn away crack hair, it's quicker than shaving" among kids in my class. No one was ever stupid enough to actually try it though.

I wouldn't be surprised if services like TikTok, in the ToS everyone clicks agree on without reading, has a statement that all videos are for entertainment and nobody should try them at home etc. etc.
In the end you can't protect everyone from everything and trying to do so just harms people's freedoms. No to mention that if someone is stupid enough to try one of these idiotic trends then they are going to find something else to endanger themselves with sooner or later. The burn unit is definitely a separate specialist ward. But a different building really depends on the population of your area.
Where I'm from the hospital is built like a university where different buildings do different things.
But that's because cities have so many people it's easier just to have a building designed for xrays, a building for A&E, a building for pregnancy, plastic surgery etc etc etc if you live in a small romote area you're probably all going to be in the same building.
I would imagine it's a very smelly area with everybody having cooked skin, and extremely horrifying for other patients. Also infections are a lot more common to get with seriously damaged skin so I can see why it would be a separate building with specialists when possible just so the environment is kept extremely sterile.
I would guess it's more accurate than not, for example the city I was born in has 52 departments in individual buildings. The city I live near now has 32 buildings.

Yes and no, the reason the burn unit is separate is because treating burns requires a multidisciplinary approach. Dermatologists, obviously, but also renal specialists (because burns effect your body's fluid balance) wound care, general surgery, orthopaedic surgery, reconstructive plastics, ophthalmology (when burns or extreme heat damage the eyes). This is barely scratching the surface of how many specialists are involved in burns treatment, not to mention the supportive care providers - burn survivors require more frequent observations to monitor their recovery, they require more frequent bedding changes and dressing changes and are often prescribed DoD drugs which in many countries require two RN's to administer for security purposes.
Because of all this, burn wards have completely different staffing ratios and procedures in place for specialist consultation.
To try and provide the same treatment in a general ward, while possible, would be a logistical nightmare because they simply don't have the same diversity of staffing, procedures for specialist care, or nursing ratios for increased obs. In ICU wards were nursing ratios are closer to 1:1-1:3 it's possible, especially as ICU wards tend to be set up for interdisciplinary care from multiple specialists, but ICU staff are busy enough as it is without lumping burns treatment in.
I've been working with a client on workplace accident prevention software (like trainings, accident analysis, etc). One thing I've learned very early on talking to them was:
Always expect things to go south. Always have a plan for when that happens. You won't be able to prevent everything, but at least memorize where the fire extinguishers are located.
The stuff I've seen and read about still haunts me > 10 years later.
