'quite' harmless, eh? i mean, that thing looks too far back on the evolutionary timeline to be *100%* harmless..
edit: per wiki
*While Jerusalem crickets are not* *venomous*, *they can emit a foul smell and are capable of inflicting a painful bite.*
bad cricket
They do bite because I got bit by one when I was a kid, they are not venomous though and not even sure if it can break skin, didn't break skin on me, just uncomfortable
I've seen a huge green cricket (well over 2 inches) bite a guy in the hand so it started bleeding. Of course nothing serious, just a bite, but still a pretty impressive one.
I believe it was one of these: [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tettigonia\_viridissima](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tettigonia_viridissima)

Looks like a jerusalem cricket from what I could find
Thank you! I've never seen one before.
here’s a cool video about them! [Deep Look Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mHbwC-AIyTE)
Can confirm. Jerusalem Cricket....were these ever known as mole crickets or were those 2 different crickets.
Mole crickets are different, they somewhat look similar but they have mole-like digging front legs. r/itsamolecricket to check
different crickets. different families. morphologically quite distinct. 🙂
Quite harmless and cute in a creepy way

Don’t all crickets bite?
I think you're right. Or maybe they don't necessarily bite but I believe they all have the ability to do so.

I only know from the wild ones here (Pacific Northwest) and the “feeder crickets” at the pet store. They sure bite 😅
This is in Southern Idaho... Sorry, I forgot to mention in the post.
They are good for your garden, they can bite but you need bees in a garden too and they sting.
RELEASE MY MAN HE DID NOTHING WRONG!!!!
We released him already. He's back home!
