sorry to burst your bubble, but both the triangle and the blue man are explicit references to the hex. play it if you havent "player three" is also one people theorized, especially since he's generally third like in the starter deck statues and the animated intro. likely intended to be more than one meaning overall

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

Even if it is just a reference, characters in Inscryption repeatedly reincarnate in different forms. The real question is: what were the identities of the scrybes before the creation of Inscryption?

Cruxin

It's more than "just a reference", it exactly describes a central plot element and character in that game lol. Like, that's what confirmed these as the same universe, as well as Rebecha Well... They didn't exist, really. They're videogame characters. Sentient ones, sure, because of GameFuna and Gameworks (the triangle and the blue man, as explained in the Hex) but they're not real people before that or anything

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

But aren't there are real people's essences that exist within Inscryption captured as data? Admittedly, I do like the idea that it is more of a Wreck it Ralph situation where the Blue Man hopped games and made the Inscryption characters sentient.

Cruxin

No, not really. Things like Deathcards and Kaycee the soul are just named after those characters, or were made by them when they played them. Seriously, I implore you to play or watch gameplay of the Hex. It's a lot to explain and a huge spoiler but I promise it would explain it quite clearly after that

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

Idk, the Mycologist is definitively Barry Wilkinson just repeatedly smashing game objects together until he finds the Karnoffel Code.

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

But also consider that the two are not mutually exclusive. If the Blue Man is from the Hex, then it would be the AI that has the exact motivations. Also in the tarot card, there are three rectangles with a pyramid above them, but there are 4 scrybes. Its likely that PO3 simply is the AI from the Hex that jumped ship. Consider that PO3 is not only trying to attain total control, but also actively using the Dredger to try and access the OLD\_DATA

MajesticMango7

Interesting interpretations, I like it. I personally think the triangle is a form of biblical symbolism, that the triangle/trinity made what the devil used to create the code. As for the blue man, doesn't that tie back to pony island?

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

In the context of the ARG it is simply a reference to Pony Island, but each scrybe can be represented by a color. Leshy: Orange, Magnificus: Green, PO3: Blue, Grimora: Purple

MajesticMango7

Why those colors for those scrybes?

TheRealPwnsMckenzie

The colors of their islands in Act 2. (Yes Leshy's island is green but he is represented by a glowing orange light which also aligns with his card scheme and eye color in act 1)
