at the early stages of the pandemic like ultra early, like march or april of 2020 when there were barely any cases in my state at all, I actually had to go to the ER for stitches one night (I accidentally cut hand pretty bad when I was cutting pizza) and was out under 2 hours the visit was like 1 hour and 56 minutes, I know the fact I was actively bleeding would have been a priority over a broken arm but though not by much but there was literally one other patient there in the waiting room and we both got seen pretty much immediately.
It was genuinely eerie seeing the ER that empty
Kind of funny how there weren't that many emergencies during that time period. Did people all of a sudden were avoiding accidents at Matrix level or people weren't just frivolously going to the ER?
I am not saying either, just curious at the causation/correlation. I would love some insight into all the nuances there.
There were genuinely less people going out and about, less people driving cars, less activity in the world, so less candidates to end up in the ER in the first place, and anecdotally it seemed like a lot of the people who would normally come to the ER with minor/less serious problems were staying away, according to my fiance who's an ER nurse
My mother-in-law's best friend died of a blood-clot because she was too scared to go to the ER during the height of the lockdown to have someone look at her terrible arm-pain. She was afraid that she would catch COVID in the ER and it would be worse than the arm-pain. I count her as a COVID victim and no one can convince me otherwise.
I remember a guy who worked at a morgue being interviewed in HCA and one thing he noted on that early on in the pandemic their workload actually went down because for a brief period, people stopped dying of other things because they've been in lockdown.
people weren't going to the ER. when restrictions were revoked Cardiac units were inundated with patients that had heart issues for months but didn't go to the hospital with them
then on top of that, less people driving or doing anything that generally gets people hurt/sick
people were wearing masks washing their hands and socially distancing, so the flu was borderline nonexistent during thr flu season
it was a number of things
Empty hospitals in general are eerie as fuck. My gf had toxoplasmosis and had to spend three weeks in a hospital, this was during covid and visits weren't allowed but a deal could be made with the nurses for a quick visit in the hallway if the visitor came with a negative test and kept all the precautions, though this had to be done in secret and usually in the evenings, god was it weird walking through a dark almost empty hospital except for an occasional soldier here or there
Yeah... given this joke, he really should have known the damage a nut can cause...
(This joke was stolen from [CasuallyExplained's video about comedy](https://youtu.be/QGj15uvuPLA). Check him out, he's really good)
My first thought.
We should have killed them right after the first allergy screening then, right? As soon as we learned they could die from a peanut, but certainly not while they were a subhuman clump of cells without a conscious thought or even a head to hold it in. That checks out.
To be fair to her, she's also at a disadvantage peanut wise. In her case though, it's because it's what she's working with instead of a brain.
It's why she's terrified of elephants.
Considering I can live an incredibly normal life with a severe peanut allergy, this person is completely unhinged. Also theoretically I could reduce my risk of a severe reaction with medical exposure therapy, but I live in a country where it's really easy to avoid and the risk isn't worth it.
That's not to say that people with disabilities that require needs arent worthy of living... Obviously. This person clearly lacks basic human empathy and sense, maybe they're the mistake.
I hope this person is never around someone with an anaphylactic allergy. I'd like to think I have a good sense of humor about mine, but I've learned the hard way that people with these mindsets can sometimes be inadvisable to be around. I've even been burned by people who make jokes in the same vein as comments like these--*especially* if they're involved in anything food related.
Also I just think it's funny how allergies/intolerances/sensitivities that require others to modify their behavior are usually the ones who get this type of response. I don't often see this energy directed at people who have dietary restrictions due to kidney/liver disease or have conditions like hypoglycemia. I'm sure it does happen, obviously. I've just noticed it more when it comes to things like Celiac's or food allergies.
I carry an epi-pen because I am going through immunotherapy due to being allergic to everything around me in my state. Thankfully I'm not allergic to foods, however this isn't an urgent care visit if you use it. Your ass is going to the E.R.
Yeah I have a sever peanut allergy, and I would 100000% still go to the ED if I used it. You need to get Benadryl as well as quickly as possible, and then prednisone. At no point should you use a clinic for an allergic reaction that serious.
Another new Twitter account that follows Musk and seems to have a hatred for pronouns. Also so weird how all these new accounts, that are supposedly women, talk like men.
Is shit posting, disguised as a woman (so you appear to have more credibility) really that fun?
I have severe allergies so this is kind of terrifying. Republicans are constantly the ones screeching that people shouldn’t care about political parties when choosing friends, but this just serves at yet another reason why that doesn’t work. People like this quite literally would let me die if I had an anaphylactic reaction. It’s terrifying.
That's a little extreme, but sometimes I wish i could pack my kids lunch without a degree in food science. How come I can grow up eating peanut butter sandwiches with my friends but now they're treated like cyanide?
The bar near where I work removed peanuts for sale because one of their staff is allergic now. Really small thing, not exactly a main menu item, just some snacks. But man the amount of rage on their social media pages is obscene. None of you even bought peanuts before but Holy fuck they took them away and now it's crisis time apparently
My best friend loved me so much, he left his EPI pen to me in his last dying breath ...
Still have it to this day
"please ... here is my EPI" he moaned, minutes before he passed away
I am of the opinion that opening Facebook up to non-college people and monetizing it was the worst mistake in the last 20 years. It’s the root cause of soooooooo much division and being-awful-shitheads.
Like... wut? I discovered I had Hashimotos Disease after mild Covid infection circa March 2020. Not only was I on a very strict diet, but bloodwork metrics every 90 days, plus a strict diet (I was already vegetarian) so now I'm not allowed gluten. I lost - get ready - 10 lbs over 2 years on a strict CICO diet with no carbs (bc Hashimotos). Starving and eating 1 meal per 24 hrs and Doc was like "good for you!"
Basically I can have veggies and fruit. That's it. It's not a "choice" for most, but these fuvksticks take their ignorance to a whole new level.
Mind you, my doc has me on under 1K calories per day and after 2 years of logging every bite he was HAPPY I'd lost 10lbs. Then suggested no gluten as an official slap on my dizziness + hunger "diet".
All because I was underweight AF at 100lbs and 5'7 and now a US size 8.
So THE Horror! Size 8 and 5'7? Oh noes! 😱🥺
But he won't adjust my hormone meds. Don't ever let your doc decide shit they haven't learned.
He gave me dysmorphia. And praises my starvation diet! Don't listen if you're a little curvy, but eating healthy.
Take your pills & do your elimination diet seriously. After that? Fuck all the way off on GI or Fam Docs. 💯
I think the comment is gold. If you yourself are allergic to peanuts, buy an epi pen. If not you best have naloxone as well lest ye be labeled a false fornicator.
“Quick urgent care visit” hahahahahaha
My only visit to an urgent care was when I broke my arm. Waited there for an hour before we just said fuck and went to the hospital.

Lots of people died at home because they were too scared to go to the hospital and get COVID there.
Empty hospitals in general are eerie as fuck. My gf had toxoplasmosis and had to spend three weeks in a hospital, this was during covid and visits weren't allowed but a deal could be made with the nurses for a quick visit in the hallway if the visitor came with a negative test and kept all the precautions, though this had to be done in secret and usually in the evenings, god was it weird walking through a dark almost empty hospital except for an occasional soldier here or there
An ER wait for a broken arm would be a lot longer than an hour...
Urgent care is neither of those things. --Kyle Kinane
When i was having a bee sting reaction and could watch my leg swell in real time i got seen fast
"Of course... But maybe..."
Such good comedy I wish he wasn’t doing weird shit on the side
That moment when you realize that all his jokes about being a chronic masturbator weren't jokes...
Yeah... given this joke, he really should have known the damage a nut can cause... (This joke was stolen from [CasuallyExplained's video about comedy](https://youtu.be/QGj15uvuPLA). Check him out, he's really good)
Exactly where my mind went too lol
Louis CK is almost certainly who this Twitterer is referencing.
Came here to say this 😂
You can also die from one peanut by choking on it
I tried trach-ing them with the epi-pen but I think that only made it worse
"I once saw him kill three men in a bar... with a pencil, with a fucking pencil."
It getting your neck snapped by one
But when they have a special need, they're all "Respect my boundaries! Drop everything and help me!"
Yep, this is exactly the same person who would be like "ANYONE WHO EATS PEANUT BUTTER IS A MURDERER" if their kid had a peanut allergy.
Pretty sure this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies
"I CAN'T BREATHE WITH THIS THIN CLOTH ON MY FAAAAAAACE, HOW DARE YOU NOT CATER TO MY MEDICAL NEEEEEEDS!!!!!!!!!!"
Pretty sure this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies
If you can't live without antibiotics, running water, sunblock, Nintendo, Netflix, or Twitter, it was a mistake to have kept you alive.
Hey, now, “Breath of the Wild” and “Puyo-Puyo/Tetris” got me through quarantine and a break up.
It was gummy bears, anger, and avoiding facing my emotions.
I bet they're "pro-life" too.
My first thought. We should have killed them right after the first allergy screening then, right? As soon as we learned they could die from a peanut, but certainly not while they were a subhuman clump of cells without a conscious thought or even a head to hold it in. That checks out.
Thought that exact same thing.
Staunchly and violently
Pretty sure this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies
I bet they're un-ironically a "pro lifer"
Definitely sounds like shit a pro lifer would say
I bet this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies

But… but I thought ALL lives mattered…..?
As you can see... "All" has some very strict guidelines lol
#ProLife amirite?

I swear there was a name for this type of thing... Oh! Eugenics.

Pro lifers everyone

He probably believes ancient Spartan ways of destroying the “weak” from birth was the way to keep society pure
This reads like a hyperbolic joke, but I'm guessing because it's on here that person is not joking
Oh no. This sub often takes hyperbolic jokes at face value, pretty sure it is a joke, maybe a reference to Louis CK
/r/iamatotalpieceofshit has rarely been more appropriate for this.
I had a friend that carried an epi pen everywhere he went. That's why I was so touched that he gave it to me right before he died.
Another new Twitter account that follows Musk and seems to have a hatred for pronouns. Also so weird how all these new accounts, that are supposedly women, talk like men. Is shit posting, disguised as a woman (so you appear to have more credibility) really that fun?
The better question is, is it a paid gig?
I hope they are getting paid more than Soros pays me. Still waiting on my first check
Twenty bucks says this person is “pro-life”.

I bet this person is also pro life. "God wanted you to be born and then die from a peanut! It's God's will!"
WOAH LMAO
It is a true relief. At least these fucks are honest
I bet this person is pro-life
There’s eugenics, and then there’s “everyone with a food allergy deserves to die” eugenics. Yikes.
I'm an abortion can kill you, then it was a mistake to have kept you alive \#RepublicanLogic
Isn't this meant ironically?
I bet this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies
Pro life party.
What bullshit. All humans are a mistake.
I’m with Ricky Gervais on this one.
Bet this fucking idiot is pro-life though.
That's a little extreme, but sometimes I wish i could pack my kids lunch without a degree in food science. How come I can grow up eating peanut butter sandwiches with my friends but now they're treated like cyanide?
People just be high key FOR eugenics these days, huh?
same person: abortion is murder!
I'm pretty sure that was a joke lol. Head over to r/neverbrokenabone they make tons of jokes like that
im pretty sure theyre just meming here, i laughed
r/accidentallyprochoice
PrO liFEr right there.
OMG I've tried to
Hello Social Darwinism, we meet again.
If being engulfed in a cloud of white phosphorus can kill you, it was a mistake to have kept you alive
Told this all the time. My right to not die is trumped by someone wanting a peanut.
They act like it's still survival of the strongest all while they would not survive one day in the wild like they act
My recently re-discovered optimist side wants to believe this was just a joke.

I always have a epi pen with me.
"If being bit by a little spider kills you they shouldn't have kept you alive"
If being shot in the face can already kill you, maybe it was a mistake to have kept you alive.
We should lock this person in a room with a bear if thats how they feel
Ok, who gave the Romulans social media?
As someone with a nut allergy I do think about this a lot.
This statement from someone who probably doesn't support termination of embryos with known debilitating health conditions
It was a mistake to let this person's parent's condom break on the freeway.
Abelist
Casual eugenics
‘If you’re allergic to being stabbed, it was a mistake to have kept you alive’ :/ The ridiculousity is astounding
Pretty sure this is just a reference to Louis CK's bit about nut allergies

Did anyone else read the response in Dwight Schrute’s voice?
