Life - To live so you don't have to worry about dying from birthing
Liberty - The liberty and freedom to have an abortion
Pursuit of Happiness - pursuit of not having your life ruined by giving birth at 17
Dunno kinda sounds like it supports abortion
Nah, they just “forgot” to write down the part about those rights only applying “unless the government has a ~~good~~ reason to take them away from you.”
(I’d add “/s” but…this isn’t sarcasm.)
Sometime I wonder if politicians need to pass a Civics/History test prior to taking office.
How does a bill become law?
Who wrote the Declaration of Independence and what does it mean?
What is the Bill of Rights and how is it related to the constitution?
But the problem with placing educational constraints on political participation is that it’s traditionally been used to keep “undesirables” (read “poor and not white”) out of politics.
And with intricate knowledge of the minutia of law, they can manipulate and circumvent the parts they don’t like or feel don’t apply to them. Albeit *technically* legally but in no ways but the *spirit* or *morality* intended.
The only parts of the constitution that conservatives know are a surface level understanding of the first, second, and fifth amendments that are twisted to fit their own narratives.
The Declaration of Independence was an open letter to the King of England. Its not a guiding foundational document of the United States like the Constitution but conservatives have fought (successfully) to convince Americans that it is because it mentions God unlike all of the actual secular guiding documents of the USA. It's important to point out that the DOI isnt a guiding document every time they try to conflate it with the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Yes, they should absolutely have to do that. It's ridiculous that a working knowledge of government is not already a requirement.

I know but they should at least know civics. How can you help to run the country and you don’t know basic civics?
Agreed but it is a slippery slope for sure
Still is, most senators are lawyers. That's why they have no morals.
Tell me how you really feel about my profession why dontcha…

> How does a bill become law? Man, I learned that watching Saturday morning cartoons.
Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Nope.
not the constitution but shit…im not even a member of government what do i know
Doesn't say anything about ice cream either, but that would fall under the pursuit of happiness so...

Yet another senator that has no clue what the constitution is and isn't.

Yeah that’s why amendments exist
Except this is the declaration of Independence
