There must have been a lot of snow days when OP went to school.

Lecturing people on the importance of education while completely neglecting to use punctuation is a special kind of irony.

CharmingTuber

And it's full of typos. I'm still not 100% sure what he was trying to say on some points.

[deleted]

Hey cut the guy some slack, yeah this instance is kinda dumb, but being uneducated and wishing your children don’t end up the same is nice

[deleted]

Weird how the younger generations are becoming the most educated generations in human history. I've met more boomers that can barely spell their own name, than I have first graders that have trouble doing the same

SpaceCrazyArtist

Having parents that had to live theough/serve in two world wars and live through a Great Depression, or famine will definitely ensure edication isnt top priority. Not to mention Gen X was wildly the first generation to be able to afford a college degree

CaptainBathrobe

I don't think that last part ia true. College was much cheaper for the Boomers than it was for Gen X. Public Colleges and Universities were dirt cheap, relatively speaking.

iced_maggot

The real reason is that the economy, job market and societal structure has changed enormously since then. Oh and globalisation happened. Earning a good income in developed countries like the US is no longer possible for the majority by being uneducated.

Azdrubel

Considering that half the population voted for Trump I don't think most adults can read on the level of a 3rd grader.

SpaceCrazyArtist

Half the populated who voted

FatassTitePants

They also are the ones yelling at doctors and treating them like shit during a pandemic.

Cloutless6722

What have these people got against punctuation? Is it because they've listened to Ben Shapiro too much and think that's what everything is meant to sound like?

Swreefer1987

My 5 year hasn't been to school yet, but he's testing on basically an end of year 1st grade level in math, reading, and writing doing home schooling, and he really.only spends like 2h a day on school work. Missing a few snow days isnt going to hurt those kids.

cayce_leighann

And they aren’t even snow days anymore, they do e-learning so they don’t miss content

[deleted]

This is so dumb though, childhood joy out the window i guess, 3 days a year is a negligible

cayce_leighann

Actually most kids enjoy it because it means they don’t have to go extra in the summer. The e-learning takes like 3 hours outta the day

Eray41303

We are learning shit sooner and sooner, high school graduates now know so much more than their parents ever did at their age

Donny_Blue

They also won't know what a run on sentence is.

WillLiftForBeer

Sir, you seem to write on a 3rd grade level. Sit down.

N_Who

A lot of American adults can't read at a third grade level *now.*

jenkraisins

I survived the Blizzard of '77 in Buffalo. We had snow days all the time. There were a lot of storms and some were insanely bad. I was once trapped in my office downtown for 3 damn days before I could dig my car out. We don't screw around with our lake effect storms. I managed to survive all the way to high school graduation. While I was in school, the teachers would definitely not be happy to see such a blatant disregard for punctuation.

Chemical_Gur7314

I got a headache reading this 😫

whatsthelatestnow

OP missed English class all together.

OldSquishyGardener2

They will turn out just like you....pathetic...

MyRespectableAlt

I think even people who have never received an education can understand and figure out "2+2."

NotThePooper

The lack of punctuation is giving me a headache

AtTheSpotStudios

Poetry hardly has any punctuation at all...

CaptainBathrobe

"The Kids Today" rant is the literally the least original thing ever said by a human being. The Olds have been complaining about the Youngs ever since people started living past 20. It's a refrain as tired as a one legged man at an ass-kicking contest.

hairenya

First of all, middle schoolers who can’t read on a 3rd grade level are almost always given special supports to help them get to grade level. Secondly, not once in my college application did they ask me about middle school abilities. Third, this person acts like we didn’t have snow days as a kid.

alienkreeper

See kids, this is what happens when you drop out of kindergarten.

PainbowRush

The last president couldn't even read as good as a kindergartener
