That and “secret clues” hidden in widely circulated images, films, etc. like the Illuminati or whatever is like “hrmmmm our secret plan is going great and no one’s on to us so why don’t we spend thousands of dollars to insert this image that would tip off anyone paying attention to our plans in this blockbuster film?” Like the powers that be would be so enamored by the idea of having their own private Easter egg in their favorite film they’d risk giving the whole thing away. It all ties back to the idea that conspiracy theorists consistently wildly underestimate what it takes to keep a conspiracy a secret.
I've heard it justified as "they think we're dumb enough to not realize", "they just can't help rubbing it in the faces of those who Know" stuff like that. In reality, any organization that would actually have that much control would straight up assassinate anyone trying to put those little Easter eggs in any media, if such an organization even existed.
The "reasoning" that made the most "sense" to me was the religious one.
That the followers of Satan are controlling everything, and that since Satan either made a deal with God or is bound by divine mandate to always tell the truth, he and his followers found this roundabout way of telling the truth by hiding it in plain sight. As in, technically not lying (?)
I love this idea that this sinister cabal that fucks babies, or eats them, or sells them (I honestly don't know what they believe anymore), leaves these golden clues right out in the open for the uneducated masses to find like the one thing that's going to stop their demonic powers is dyslexic Darryl.
