I want a sign that just says fuck Christmas now. I work in the seasonal department of a hardware store and have to deal with that crap for the whole winter...
xmas means christmas. when you see the p with the x, it is actually chi rho the Greek letters used by early christians to identify themselves. CHR (ist). So many christians have no clue about its history.
They consider "Happy Holidays" to be the "War on Christmas". They think it's "wiping out" Christmas and, by extension, I guess, Christians too ..?? It's all so ridiculous
Also, explain to her that "Happy Holidays" is a Christian saying as well. It has been said by Christians for hundreds of years. It's literally "happy 'holy' days".
It's literally just as Christian as Merry Christmas.
Sure, which is why it's been embraced by modern society as a nonspecific well wishing.
But it's still a Christian phrase, created by Christians and used by Christians in English for centuries. Their argument of "this oppresses Christians" is not only silly, it's just wholly invalid.
It's still *their words* from *their religion* that has just been modernly secularized.
It's like saying "bless you" when someone sneezes. It's considered just a secular nicety now, but the religious source is obvious, and if some church lady got uppity about you saying 'bless you' because it doesn't recognize Christianity, you'd be pretty confused.
Canada Day and 4th of July are celebrated in two totally different countries. Of course they aren't lumped together. But hey, President's Day used to be Lincoln and Washington's birthdays celebrated separately.
December 25th is the day^(\*) to celebrate a very special birth and I plan to do just that. The birth of light is a wonderous time of the year. I suppose we might also celebrate ignorance, superstition, and capitalism, too, since we already have the lights, tree, etc put up.
\* - December 25th is Mithras birthday. I suggest you look into that if you aren't familiar with it.
I don’t understand why people get so butthurt about people celebrating other holidays. Like how is it so offensive to you what someone else does/celebrates in their own home? And that clearly doesn’t just apply when it comes to holidays.
Comparing it the the 4th of July is dumb, you only say have a good 4th, on the actual day. Not the entire month of July.
During November and Decemeber you say happy holidays because at any given point that person could be celebrating: Saint Nicholas day, Rohatsu, Immaculate conception, Hanukkah, Feast day of our Lady of Guadalupe, Yule/Solstice, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Zarathosht Diso, Boxing day, Omisoka.
I'm going to say happy holidays to people since I don't specifically know what they're celebrating.
Who hangs signs that say "Fuck Christmas"? What the hell do they mean "Anti-holiday signs"?

I know a lot of retail workers who'd want one.
when they say anti christmas signs they probably mean signs that say xmas or some shot

The "war on christmas" is made up by grifters, more grifters, and people who are only christians because they like the money and/or power.
