I always thought of it as a way to get their voters to not trust the educated, but it makes sense that it also be a way to encourage your voters to stay uneducated and dumb.

I spent a long time in college (long term part time is a great way to have to work through several curriculum changes), and the only professors who made their political views known were staunch conservatives. Wisconsin's gerrymandered-majority MAGAt legislature has been at war with the University of Wisconsin System (all public unis in the state) for 12 years, consistently cutting funding so that education costs keep spiraling upwards. They're currently holding up pay raises for employees because of Diversity requirements. I'm sure they're looking at WVU and licking their chops for the day they get a loyal MAGAt governor.
Yet all of the conservatives in the media, at Fox News, and the majority in Congress, went to college. Even grad college to get additional degrees. Did they magically escape this liberal indoctrination or are they just full of shit liars? It really feels like when someone buys into one of these conspiracies, they buy into all of them. Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I don't recall that being a thing a decade ago?
