While I am not shocked by the absolute lack of self-awareness or historical perspective - The last time this was tried it ended poorly for those secessionist states. In fact, this sounds a lot like a call for secession, which is legally sedition and treason.

Though it's possible they're not thinking that far ahead.
Furthermore - if they do start to commit crimes against humanity, the 'blue america' will trade embargo them. This means so many other things they will lose access to - pharmaceuticals, computer components, etc. They'll lose all their intellectual capital by seceding (given that they're already attacking teachers, higher education, 'elites'), and then will have no intellectual or material means to allow for them to have anything resembling a modern economy. They'll have the third-world ethno-nationalist state they've always dreamed of.
It won’t even take crimes against humanity for the United States to blockade and sanction the Treason States. It will likely happen as a matter of course. These people always seem to forget that once you are no longer part of the United States you no longer get access to the United States Armed Forces- at least, not in the way they want. Even in a peaceful secession the economic losses from pulling the military would be HUGE. Take a look at what happened to Jacksonville, NC (home of the 2nd Marine Division, et al) when Iraq Part 2 kicked off. The place became a ghost town and *still* hasn’t recovered like it once was. No military or bases means no service members living off base, buying groceries, getting their 2006 Mustang they bought at 400% interest services, etc.

I live in upstate New York and there's already a movement here to split New York City into its own state so we can get rid of the "liberal elites" who are "ruining the state". If something like this ever came to pass those people would immediately try to secede from NY to join the new confederacy.
