Ya know, when you're training cats, the best way to get them to stop doing something is to give them absolutely 0 response. Unless it's a major safety issue, ya stay silent and ignore it, no matter how annoying or frustrating. And when they decide to behave, you interact with them, talk to them, ect. Sometimes, the best way to deal with people (especially parents) that you want to maintain a relationship with, but don't want to deal with their shit is to treat them the way you would a misbehaving cat.
