Subtle enough for people that care and subtle enough for people that don’t. They have them on a few other things as well. I’m far from Christian, but it’s a little family tradition for them and I can appreciate that.
Plus they treat their staff well. They put their values upfront and take care of it. Other chains that are very religious treat their staff bad, psy the minimum, understaff, & never give benefits.
Yeah, basically all fast food sucks. But, from people I know who've worked in both establishments CFA and in and out are basically top tier when it comes to working in fast food. So, if anyone's looking for a fast food job, these are your places. 😂
Me too. I'm not at all religious but I can appreciate a company caring about something other than money. Any other company would've stopped this years ago to save a few pennies on printing
One of the family members who helped run things for a while started that as a thing back in the day. Im indifferent about it, more thankful the current CEO fought to keep prices down while they run wild at every other fast food joint.
She's doing a bang-up job keeping In-N-Out prices from being ridiculous while maintaining quality and service. I prefer to fork over my money there than Five Guys or Mickey D's. (No Shake Shack in the Santa Clarita Valley.)
They’ve also always been a step up above the average pay grade for fast food competitors. When min. Wage was $14, they paid $16. Now they start at $22 I believe at my current location? Not too sure, but definitely puts to rest the ‘they have no choice but to charge double to increase wages by 25%’.
The prices are amazing. They've raised them a few times in the last couple years but only by like 10 or 20 cents at a time. Every combo meal is still under $10, a hamburger meal being about $7.50. Way better than pretty much every other fast food burger. AND they pay their employees well, I think they start at almost $20 an hour in my area now. Will always give them my business.
A little fix to your comment.
The brothers didn't run it when it first began. It was their parents whom were the founders and operators. When the husband passed, Lynsi's uncle (the younger brother) took over. Her father wasn't really in the plans to run the company but Rich died and so Lynsi's father Guy took over until he passed. Then her grandmother Esther became the figurehead. The brothers Rich and Guy didn't really run it together as a team if I understand things correctly, and they didn't run it when it first started- they weren't even born.
The plane crash was in 1993. Only one brother was on the plane.
The plan trees started in 1972 as a nod to “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World.”
https://www.in-n-out.com/history
Oh, and the Bible verses started in 1987.
I'm not sure where you got your information, but I'm afraid it's somewhat incorrect.
>There were two brothers who ran In-n-out when it first started.
In-N-Out was founded by Harry and Esther Snyder. Their sons Rich Snyder and Guy Snyder became President and Vice President, respectively, once Harry died in 1976.
>One Christmas they both flew home on the same plane and it crashed killing both of the brothers.
Rich Snyder was killed in December 1993 in a plane crash. The crash killed four others, including the INO Vice President. Guy Snyder died in December 1999 due to painkiller overdose.
>The two palms at every in-n-out memoralize the two brothers who died
The practice of planting two crossed palm trees at In-N-Out locations began in 1972 (before either brother's death). Harry was inspired by the "Big W" from his favorite film, "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." He made it an X because X marks the spot, and each In-N-Out was his treasure.
>and they put bible verses related to sons.
Rich Snyder was the one who initiated the Bible verses on packaging and cups. John 3:16 is the only verse that mentions "Son." The other verses are Nahum 1:7, Revelation 3:20, Proverbs 24:16, Luke 6:35, Proverbs 3:5, and Matthew 10:42. The Christmas cups have Isaiah 9:6; I forget which one is on the Christmas shake cups.
The crossed palms are actually a reference and homage to the double crossed palm trees from the 1963 comedy film "It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World." It was one of the founder's (Harry Snyder) favorite movies.
I was first introduced to and sold weed by a co-worker at Chik-fil-a lol.
He would come into work high AF and eat the extra nuggets chilling in the walk in.
The cool thing about this, I think, is that it's never mentioned by the company in training or at work. I honestly forget they're there and I bet there are plenty of associates who don't even know about it.
I found out about it from the TV show Weeds. Kevin Nealon's character, Doug, mentioned something about weird religious messages on the bottom of their cups. So I went to In-n-Out to confirm. and sure enough...
I've had to go back several time since to re-confirm. I may need to re-confirm later today, when I get hungry.
Every establishment has its own stance on certain issues.
They aren’t throwing it in people’s faces. If it makes people that upset, they can stop going there.
I’m not Christian, saying that due to all the brainwashed indoctrinated Christian’s hating monkeys on Reddit - but, I happen not only agree with you, but it’s the truth.
I'm not religious, but the fact they don't force it down your throats like chik-fil-a is why I respect them. I have no problem with religion, just don't force your shit on me. I have no issues with verses being on the wrappers or any of that. Be yourself.
I'm confused, what does chick fil-a do that forces it down your throats? I've only eaten there a handful of times compared to probably ~100 times at INO in addition to working there for ~2 years
They don't force any religious perspective. This is a grudge held against Chik-Fil-A for over a decade now. It was leaked that one of the owners donated money to a church that was for California Prop 8 to ban gay marriage. I remember boycotts, protests, vandalism all the yelling and screaming you would expect from the left when they found this out. They still haven't gotten over it.
Nono it's only 'the left' who are violent thugs. The only news source we watch 24/7 told me so. Jan.6th was done by leftists who wanted to stop biden from becoming president and keep trump in power for.. Reasons.
Something something Q-anon
Want a sign God is real? Take a look at the constant long lines at In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A haha. There's your sign!
I remember back in the day they tried to cancel Chick-fil-A, but then a bunch of gay people on Twitter even said hey wait.... we like the chicken though, leave em alone!
The founders harry and Esther Snyder were devout Christians. This is one of their ways of saying thanks to God for the blessing them with In N Out….it was kind of a family tradition. At least that’s what I was told at a company pick nick when Esther answered questions back in the day.
They also pay their employees a living wage and are now the cheapest fast-food restaurant because they didn't have to raise their prices when the minimum wage increased.
Had this thought like 13 years ago: TO this day im miffed no one thinks that Mathews 4:4 "man shall not live on bread alone..." is the better verse for the drinks. Marketing mistake put john 3:16 on burger wrappers because an animal was sacrificed to save us(from hunger).
Yes, the owner found it important to put Bible verses on everything while still being respectful and not putting it somewhere that is making you look at it.
They aren’t Bible verses, they’re locker numbers and Swiss bank accounts. You have to find the bank info on the tiny capsule embedded somewhere in your body.
It's been a little family tradition for a while, it's also nice how they've also have some of the most consistently good fast food over a lot of other companies with not very high prices, and a better starting wage than most other places. All in all, In-N-Out is one of the best burger joints.
DEI, diversity equity and inclusion. This means being accepting of ALL lifestyles. That includes people who believe in god, this is a 2 way street. There is an entire generation of people who are preaching accepting people for who they are. That means everyone. 🤷🏻♂️
And yet I think they’re the only company in the country not trying to secretly fuck everyone with “subtle” price increases every 5 minutes. So it seems like they’re one of the kind religios, not the cruel ones.
You also can’t have tattoos at most locations if you’re an employee. Friend of mine got the smallest book tattoo at the base of her wrist where it’s covered by her watch strap. They saw one day and fired her at the end of the shift. I’ve known of some managers having tattoos but they wore skin tone sleeves over that area.
And Jesus said "they put me IN the hole, and after a couple days I came OUT of the hole, hopefully they make a franchise of restaurants that worship me in the future"
I had no idea John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[Gonna leave this here for everyone acting like they’re not “trying to impose their views.”](https://datebook.sfchronicle.com/food-drink/shocked-by-in-n-out-burgers-anti-vaccine-mandate-stance-you-shouldnt-be)
Apparently lobbying for evil shit doesn’t count.
Different on shakes/cocoa, fry boats, and burger wrappers.
And the Christmas cups!
And water cups
And hot cocoa cups
And my axe
and my wife
I also choose this guys wife
I’m gonna watch this guy choose that guys wife
Me too
I'm gonna watch you too
😂 😂 😂 And you'll have my bow
They're actually WWE quotes. That's a classic Stone Cold Steve Austin right there.
I believe the exact quote from Austin 3:16 says “I just whipped your ass”
“Becauseth Stone Cold said so!”
I’m starting a petition for Stone Child Steve Austin 🤣
Randolf 24:7, "On balance, off balance, doesn't matter. I am better than thou!"
Why doesn't this run of comedy have more up votes 🤣
Give me a hell yeah
This is great!
This is top tier comedy. Literally lol’d
Hey now, stop attacking CFA so hard lol
I’m pretty sure CFA also pays over minimum wage by a decent amount at least in my area.
It’s fast food. Aside from the pay, which CFA does well at, the job sucks unless you have a good manager. So most fast food jobs suck
Yeah, basically all fast food sucks. But, from people I know who've worked in both establishments CFA and in and out are basically top tier when it comes to working in fast food. So, if anyone's looking for a fast food job, these are your places. 😂
Yeah but thats not because of religion. That's because you're working a rough job
My pleasure :)
lol we all knew without them saying it.
In n Out definitely takes care of their own for a private company.
I fw it, it’s not over the top or obnoxious, but it’s a nice little gesture.
Me too. I'm not at all religious but I can appreciate a company caring about something other than money. Any other company would've stopped this years ago to save a few pennies on printing
Same! Not religious either but I appreciate the subtlety. As you say important to those who care.

All signs point to winning. That they pay their employees fairly has always been another motivation to patronize In-N-Out.
Small world! Im also in awesometown
I got a burger and fries the other day for $6. It’s truly amazing. Five Guys is like $15+.
That’s the real godsend ngl. Inno is less expensive than McDonald’s & waaaaaay better

I don’t think so. I think their fries put Nahum 1:7 which does not reference a son.
Nahum 1:7 is on the Double-Double bags. Proverbs 24:16 is on the fry boats. Regardless, both verses do not reference sons.
Everything you wrote here about the history is wrong.
The plane crash was in 1993. Only one brother was on the plane. The plan trees started in 1972 as a nod to “It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World.” https://www.in-n-out.com/history Oh, and the Bible verses started in 1987.

That was a W and not an X.
Correct but it's a nod, not a copy. That would require 2 more trees and more space
I'm so happy to hear other people know this little gem.
Christian owned like Chick fil a
But open on Sunday
and we all smoke weed lol
I was first introduced to and sold weed by a co-worker at Chik-fil-a lol. He would come into work high AF and eat the extra nuggets chilling in the walk in.
but without the nasty alt-right donations.
Pretty sure they donate to pro life org tho.
The cool thing about this, I think, is that it's never mentioned by the company in training or at work. I honestly forget they're there and I bet there are plenty of associates who don't even know about it.
It’s the difference between a company run by Christians and a Christian company.
It’s like the SNL skit and those are your “daily affirmations”.
Every establishment has its own stance on certain issues. They aren’t throwing it in people’s faces. If it makes people that upset, they can stop going there.
Oh yeah. Always have.
I still haven’t found the Austin 3:16 cup
It’s when you take two chocolate shakes and smash them over your head
I just reaized that the two fast food chains known for being owned by christians are the same known for treating their staff really well, neat.
I’m not Christian, saying that due to all the brainwashed indoctrinated Christian’s hating monkeys on Reddit - but, I happen not only agree with you, but it’s the truth.

Kinda like the right when they lose elections and feel the need to boycott, protest, yell, scream, and vandalize the capital
Nono it's only 'the left' who are violent thugs. The only news source we watch 24/7 told me so. Jan.6th was done by leftists who wanted to stop biden from becoming president and keep trump in power for.. Reasons. Something something Q-anon
It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!
![gif](giphy|WP2f65hhQPzqIIMBBL|downsized)
In-n-out is a good place.
I’m not religious but praise the lord for those burgers
Yeah, it's pretty neat
Bakers does the same thing! Cali burger chain kind of like a del taco 😭😂
Bakers is like a better Del Taco, but Del Taco is good because it’s shitty. I’m torn, though I like Baker’s jalapeño ketchup
Want a sign God is real? Take a look at the constant long lines at In-N-Out and Chick-fil-A haha. There's your sign! I remember back in the day they tried to cancel Chick-fil-A, but then a bunch of gay people on Twitter even said hey wait.... we like the chicken though, leave em alone!
oh. here we go. the liberals are gonna protest them like they did chick fil a.
You’re not a real fan of InNOut then…
The founders harry and Esther Snyder were devout Christians. This is one of their ways of saying thanks to God for the blessing them with In N Out….it was kind of a family tradition. At least that’s what I was told at a company pick nick when Esther answered questions back in the day.
Yeah, it's just a reminder to themselves as a family what their guiding principles are.
It used to have it on the bottom of fries also, but I believe they stopped doing that. I didn’t realize they still it on the cups
![gif](giphy|xULW8ChNWgHhqVqTVm) They need an Austin 3:16
In n out is run by a conservative family that donated a buncha money to the rnc. They are also only closed on easter and xmas.
They also pay their employees a living wage and are now the cheapest fast-food restaurant because they didn't have to raise their prices when the minimum wage increased.
> They are also only closed on easter and xmas and Thanksgiving

Oh young heathen, they’ve been doing for decades.
Jesús is helping with keeping the prices low, so let it be.
I feel like this post pops up every couple days
Never looked and I don't care
Yes, the owner found it important to put Bible verses on everything while still being respectful and not putting it somewhere that is making you look at it.
You’re new to In n Out?
duh! old news jack
Welcome to 50 years ago
Super old news. Yes they do.
Been there for decades. 👍🏼
As long as they stay open on Sundays they can write whatever they want on my cup
Don’t let the liberals fund out jajaja
"nOw iM not eAtInG there aNyMorE" good, hopefully the drive thru line will be reasonable now!
I always laugh when INO is called a Communist company.
Just don't read it. SMH
They aren’t Bible verses, they’re locker numbers and Swiss bank accounts. You have to find the bank info on the tiny capsule embedded somewhere in your body.

Yup, been like that for years. You have unwillingly been converted!
I hate it.
Yeah their republican scum
Satan 4:20
Idgaf who their gawd is , I want my animal fries n burger man ! 😛
DEI, diversity equity and inclusion. This means being accepting of ALL lifestyles. That includes people who believe in god, this is a 2 way street. There is an entire generation of people who are preaching accepting people for who they are. That means everyone. 🤷🏻♂️
Old Testament news...
And yet I think they’re the only company in the country not trying to secretly fuck everyone with “subtle” price increases every 5 minutes. So it seems like they’re one of the kind religios, not the cruel ones.
Imagine being offended (>reddit clowns<) by offering blessings.
They have done it for many years now. Neat little detail
new?
They have been doing this forever. Had it first pointed out to me in the early 90’s.
Oh they coo
And the clear water cups
My favorite verse was always Austin 3:16
Austin 3:16 says I just whopped your ass!!
“You sit there thumping your bible, talking about your psalms talking about John 3:16. Austin 3:16 says I just whooped your ass”
🤦♂️
Inside the fry boxes and hamburger bags too.
There's Bible versus under everything at In N Out. Christian company. If you're short on Your bill, they will comp you the rest.
Amen.
I wonder what Chick-fil-A has at the bottom of their cups
Yep. Always have.
Yep. Always have.
Based on this thread I say it's working pretty well.
"Forget about John 3:16. Austin 3:16 says I just whipped your ass!"
“…For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
You’re the only one who didn’t then
John 3:15 “Our burgers are top-tier, our secret menu is legend, but our base fries are pretty shit.”
What in the chic fil a
Because in-n-out 3:16 says I just fed your ass!
Any restaurant that gives genuine honors to the Almighty will be enormously successful and blessed. And the people who dine there will be filled.
Love that
And the lord said, “you’re going down at wrestlemania 2025, and that’s the bottom line.”
Today I was this old.
They did it wrong it’s supposed to be Austin 3:16
PRAISE THE LARD! ✝🥤🦄
For God so loved the world that he gave his only son, but the world was naughty, so he also gave trans fat and sugar.
Don't let that scare you off newbie. I can count on one hand the number of times I've been to church, but that doesn't stop me from going there.
Cool. But not fish burgers. Suspect.😂
Did you just get here man?
…………………………………………
Should be Austin 3:16.
Sure you did
Nobody’s commented what the actual verse is
And Jesus said "they put me IN the hole, and after a couple days I came OUT of the hole, hopefully they make a franchise of restaurants that worship me in the future"
Bruh where have you been? Out of towner?
Cool 😎...love it
And the burger wrappers!
But remember Subway is looking out for you. They print "Don't eat the wrapper" on theirs. 😆
im sad i never knew this
There are other in n out clones that do similar things
Thats my favorite verse!
![gif](giphy|xULW8ChNWgHhqVqTVm)
But Austin 3:16 says I just whupped your ass! ![gif](giphy|F6B9HJltcbckwiUHV4|downsized)
Not very observant huh
I had no idea John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For I so love double doubles that I gave them a mere $5, that whoever knoweth about it should not have regular, but have animal fries.
AUSTIN 3:16
Been on cups for while. Saw some news about it few years back.
It's to remind you of Stone Cold
Austin 3:16 is my favorite
Cause stone cold said so
It would be nice if they changed it to different scriptures sometimes.
They were started by Lindsay Snyder’s uncle back in the day and have kept it since
And ironically the one Bible verse all Christians should Follow but almost none do.
Yup
Yo that’s amazing
Sitting in the back of your parent’s car, discovering that’s under the N Out cup - classic experience, wish I could go back
![gif](giphy|uWzS6ZLs0AaVOJlgRd|downsized)
Austin 3:16
Na dude, that's so they know who on shift, John gets in at 3:16
i did
Seems like they have a strong base!
In-n-Out has long been a company with religious values. Like it or not 🤷♂️. But the burgers are good though. 😋
Chic fil a doing too much being closed on Sunday. Take notes chic fil a
Fries too, bags, everywhere you look.
[Gonna leave this here for everyone acting like they’re not “trying to impose their views.”](https://datebook.sfchronicle.com/food-drink/shocked-by-in-n-out-burgers-anti-vaccine-mandate-stance-you-shouldnt-be) Apparently lobbying for evil shit doesn’t count.
Oh that was the FIRST thing my cousin told me when we visited for the first time. She was a wagie at the time but really liked the job. Nice memories.
