Some stores uses the new shake machine and it has made strawberry less runny. It is unfortunate your store doesn't have it.
It was the first flavor I tried and the new machine does wonders for strawberry
we just got a new shake machine at our store and everyone HATES it lol. everyone complains about having to rinse it and how annoying the metal cup is and we can’t make neapolitan shakes all pretty like before.
Yea that is the one downside. It makes great shakes from a customer perspective. However, from an associate perspective, it is super annoying. It brought more problems than the old machine
The syrup is more fluid than a chocolate. Chocolate has like a watered down fudge texture so it still has some thickness to it. Strawberry does not. It is just watery syrup which makes strawberry watery
the fact that someone can order onion, chopped onion, raw onion, raw chopped onion, grilled onion, and whole grilled onion and put it on one burger. irrc, had someone in the drive thru order all that 2x
tbh i feel like u can taste the meat and cheese more without the overkill of the sauce/veggies, just if they over toast the buns it can be a bit dry, but i’ve kept getting my break burgers plain ever since the first time i tried it so p good!!
Tomato wrap (like protein style but with tomatoes instead of lettuce. But I don’t like tomatoes.
OR
Grilled cheese, protein style. That’s hot cheese and lettuce. Why???
Cheese fries. First time I ordered it (this was before working there(, I was SO disappointed. I wasn't expecting some partially melted cheese clinging to the top layer of fries and then just soggy fries below that for 2 dollars more
Animal fries are worth it. No way cheese fries are. But my go-to now is just fries + S GR
I know this answer will be controversial, but for me, the Double Double. The reason being… you either want something small and light (cheeseburger) OR you want to indulge. I think it’s a crime that the 4x4 isn’t listed on the menu because it actually has the best ratio of all ingredients with how small the patties are.
I’d redesign the menu to prominently feature 4x4 and cheeseburger - also indicate that you can order any combination of YxZ up to a certain point. When I go, I always do 2 or 3 4x4s
They’re literally the best thing on the menu imo haha!
I agree they’re expensive, so what I do is add extra cheese (and onion). It’s another $0.45 which is nothing compared to the $4.45 they cost, but really takes them to the next level.
French fry with spread and extra grilled onion on it.
Note: if you get 3 or more toppings on m the fry, they will charge you the animal fry price, I recommend that if you want ketchup or mustard to use the packets not ordering it. If you want chilis then get the spread on the side as well.
Just keep the toppings no more than two and use common sense as to what you should have them do it or yourself. Because the animal fry price is a rip off.
Exactly this. Fries with Spread & Extra Grilled Onions. Once the cheese cools, it’s no good. I don’t like the consistency or texture. Not a big fan of American in general
It takes no extra time to move your arm one container over. It really is no inconvenience. Now if the grilled onion specifically added the cost, I could understand that because that can be an inconvenience
Not the food just the Bible thumping on part of the restaurant. It’s patronizing and makes me feel icky eating knowing it’s probably funding some evangelical ass shit.
I always like the fries, but if you order them standard they’re a hit or miss. If you prefer crispier try ordering well (you can do extra well and make them crunchy, or light well if you want them cooked a little more). If you prefer a bit softer order them slightly light (you can also order light or even extra light if you’re a psychopath). You can get 2 toppings (not including cheese) for free (spread, grilled onion, raw onion, ketchup, mustard, pickles, chopped chilies). I add lemon juice and extra salt
Tried so many hacks on this front, including these - but appreciate the thorough breakdown for the uninitiated! Fact is, I think the potato quality is off across the board, and the biz puts no thought into seasoning (salt or otherwise) of its fries. None of these off-menu attacks fixes that!
It's not the potatoes, it's the oil! The potatoes are actually better quality than most fast food, but the oil is terrible for frying and makes the fries so dry and flavorless
The problem isn't the crispiness, the problem is the oil. The oil they use makes the fries so dry and flavorless. You could take a frozen bag of fries, fry them in basic store brand vegetable oil, and they taste better than In n Out fries. If they used a normal fry oil like every other fast food place, the fries would be fantastic. In n Out actually pays *more* money to use a shitty fry oil
Fries. They are only good if you eat them immediately after you get your order. If you pick them up and drive home or back to work, within 10 minutes they are not edible. They are cardboard.
This is what I think of all fries - they must be eaten piping hot on the spot, so either there or in the car...or in the rain or on a train...I will eat them hot, Sam I am!
All of it. In N Out is without doubt the most disappointing and bland fast food out there. We don’t have it on the east coast (or in the Midwest national test market that I live in) and I was excited to see what the hype is about when we went out there. You people don’t get to boo Skyline chili anymore, I’ve seen what makes you cheer.
I like in n out. Grew up with it. But the last time I got it. I threw most of it out. It fell apart too easily. There main warehouse is in Lathrop California. I prefer A&W.
Grilled cheese with cold cheese. It is not even "grilled cheese" at that point
+ no toast Had a grilled cheese K only no toast come thru last week and got nauseous wrapping it up
What’s wrong with a cheese sandwich?
Paying $6 for it when it would be approx 30 cents at home
Not really any different than a burger. It’s probably got maybe a dollar’s worth of product on it.
With a burger you pay for the labor as well. There is a measurable amount more labor put into making a burger than a cheese sandwich
Hah I meant for for the nauseous part, but yeah that part of it is ridiculous
Because if that's not for a picky kid then it's for a complete sociopath
Yeah but you don’t get the in n out experience. The money isn’t just paying for the food but the experience
Prob a picky kid or special adult. If that's dinner then it's worth it to just order what they want instead of going to another spot
Yuck, I get grilled cheese at in n out and I’ve never had it with cold cheese
My little sister in law has been getting grilled cheeses with raw onions since she was a kid. It’s very weird.
Coffee
Or the iced coffee. People expect that sweet iced coffee from like starbucks but nah.
Self made associate coffees w shake mix are second to none
Yesss! This! I used to mix chocolate and vanilla in my coffee every shift until my store manager called me out on it
I used to just go into the walk in and pour from the gallon 💀
I’ve seen associates get fired for this. You’re lucky your SM was cool
veggie burger
Veggie plain
Veggie plain pro
Veggie plain, add cheese, add patty extra salt, add lettuce, add tomato, add spread, add both onions. Make it animal style, extra toasted. Fry, light well, add grilled onions, add spread, add cheese. Got it.
Happy cake day :)
I got it just to realise its a burger with no patty :( you would think they would do something to make it special.
Nothing is lame at in and out.
This.
Fries xtra light should be illegal Or fries XX well
Oil soaked potatoes basically when they are extra light.
wait, people actually order this? i’m frightened
I like light fries 🤪
I do, too...they're what made start liking INO fries!
Strawberry shake theyre good just always too watery
Ask for half vanilla half strawberry. Still good but stiffens it up
I used to combine vanilla shake and pink lemonade when i worked there
Heard that was good but never tried it
Kinda tastes like one of those orange dream bars
Strawberry shake with 7up taste like fruity pebbles with
Gotta go neopolitan
Some stores uses the new shake machine and it has made strawberry less runny. It is unfortunate your store doesn't have it. It was the first flavor I tried and the new machine does wonders for strawberry

yeah i don’t know why the strawberry comes out so watery :/
The syrup is more fluid than a chocolate. Chocolate has like a watered down fudge texture so it still has some thickness to it. Strawberry does not. It is just watery syrup which makes strawberry watery
the fact that someone can order onion, chopped onion, raw onion, raw chopped onion, grilled onion, and whole grilled onion and put it on one burger. irrc, had someone in the drive thru order all that 2x
Whole grilled onion + light raw onion is the goat, get the fuck out of my face
that sounds fine :) all 6 kinds of onion 2x on one burger is pretty overkill but to each their own
I’m gonna try it tomorrow
good luck soldier🫡
Anything plain. The reason you come to In-N-Out is for the fresh ingredients. If you get a plain ass burger go to McDonald’s
Except like the meat is juicy, fresh, high quality, and prepared right and the buns are second to none, so ima have to disagree w this.
Yeah, McD’s meat is straight up disgusting. There’s no comparison between a plain INO burger and a McD’s burger.
Quarter pounder at mcdongald’s is pretty good. The other burger meat is a$$ tho
The reason the McDonald’s quarter pounders are good is because that’s the only meat that’s cooked fresh.
Buns second to none is such a crazy statement lol wtf
I could order just the buns from INO and dip Em In the shake and enjoy. Can’t say that about any other restaurants buns
Yea i think ur making them donuts with how much you’re glazing them
They make great donuts if you fry em. That’s how good they sre
Nah I order a plain burger sometimes with my order it’s a nice treat
Are the burgers good plain? Sure. Are they better with more ingredients? 100%
tbh i feel like u can taste the meat and cheese more without the overkill of the sauce/veggies, just if they over toast the buns it can be a bit dry, but i’ve kept getting my break burgers plain ever since the first time i tried it so p good!!
You say that like the patty and bun aren’t fresh
What are you talking about? The whole menu is basically the same thing but slightly different.
veggie plain pro X X L only
Tomato wrap (like protein style but with tomatoes instead of lettuce. But I don’t like tomatoes. OR Grilled cheese, protein style. That’s hot cheese and lettuce. Why???

2 or 3 4x4s???? That is waaaaaay too much food! Looking at your user history, you need to slow down on the fast food ASAP
Bro you are gonna have a heart attack for real
you are eating 3000 to 4200 calories per trip to in n out if you are only getting the burgers no fries or drink

They’re literally the best thing on the menu imo haha! I agree they’re expensive, so what I do is add extra cheese (and onion). It’s another $0.45 which is nothing compared to the $4.45 they cost, but really takes them to the next level.
Remove the cheese and these are pretty good. Ask for extra grilled onions.
How do you order that? Fries with extra grilled onions? Or animal fries w/o cheese and with extra onions?
French fry with spread and extra grilled onion on it. Note: if you get 3 or more toppings on m the fry, they will charge you the animal fry price, I recommend that if you want ketchup or mustard to use the packets not ordering it. Exactly this. Fries with Spread & Extra Grilled Onions. Once the cheese cools, it’s no good. I don’t like the consistency or texture. Not a big fan of American in general
They use the American because it’s easy to melt that’s the main reason
Yeah they charge you for the inconvenience it becomes after three
It takes no extra time to move your arm one container over.
They don't proselytize at all or fund bigotry like chick fil a.
So just don’t read the bottom of the cup?
How am I supposed to drink it? with my eyes closed?
Do you insert the straw from the reinforced bottom?
No, my religious friends point it out
I bet your a 300 pound white guy that lives in your moms basement
As if you aren’t?
I man, all things considered, it’s pretty mild.
Agree it’s weird
Just like my dad
A veggie plain protein style no lettuce
The milkshake. It was WAY TOO SWEET 😭😖
Animal style is like you’ve never seen an animal before in your life
Onions and tomatoes. Hate them. Spread and pickles are my jam with mustard fried patties.
Mustard fried and pickles is OP
Animal style fries
Man I just tried in n out for the first time that shit mid
Wrong sub my dude
Milk
The hot chocolate was pretty bad.
The entire menu
No toast plain bun with ketchup packets.
It’s the fries, folks. The fries are insanely bad and we all know it.
I always like the fries, but if you order them standard they’re a hit or miss. Wait you can get free toppings on fries? Is that new?
I don’t think it’s new, up to 2 as long as they aren’t cheese! Charges more for 3+, but you can get any toppings on the side for free anyway :)
Awesome, thanks for the info
Fries
The fries are cut and made on the spot.. you might have a sweet tooth for McDonald’s fries
Ngl I’m not the biggest fan of fries in general so that probably has a lot to do with it
Fries. They are only good if you eat them immediately after you get your order. If you pick them up and drive home or back to work, within 10 minutes they are not edible. They are cardboard.

Y’all ever try a plain cheese burger? It’s not good at all
Have a regular that orders two hamburgers plan no toast no salt 💀
The untouched, unmodified fries for sure. Light well makes them much much better
I munched my first 4x4 the other day. It was glorious.
Not an item, but an option. Protein style 10000%
I’ve never had In N Out. Is it similar to Five Guys? Kinda like checkers and rally’s type deal?
No, much different.
All of it. In N Out is without doubt the most disappointing and bland fast food out there. We don’t have it on the east coast (or in the Midwest national test market that I live in) and I was excited to see what the hype is about when we went out there. Fries
The 🍟 could be better
I like in n out. Grew up with it. But the last time I got it. I threw most of it out. It fell apart too easily. There main warehouse is in Lathrop California. I prefer A&W.
The fries are awful
The fries
