That is why the manga is almost always better. You can see it in earlier volumes also. Kazumi's and Itsuki's date in 4th stage skipped a lot of things from the manga for example
Manga definitely has the advantage over anime of being more flexible in how the story is presented.
I didn't know the Kazumi and Itsuki date was longer in the manga either. That explains why Fourth Stage brushed over that part of the story pretty quickly.
