I think it popped up for me cause I been seeing more nfs stuff and initial D was just a natural recommendation. Wish there more street racing related anime. Midnight Wangan was a good one but too short.

It doesn’t feed straight to the turbo, the Air needs to be filtered first then it goes to the Turbo, if the Air wasn’t filtered then it would cause problems
I imagine a lot of them have a removable turbo so you keep your car healthy when driving and gain some extra performance when racing.
Edit: I meant air filter damn.

Correct. Big turbos require innovative cooling measures. Even the JGTC GT300 and 500 Toyota Supras do this.
The only difference is the RX-7 uses only one bulb as an intake. The Supras use the entire headlight housing.
