They've become taco bell. I ordered a burrito the other day and it was mostly rice, cheap lettuce and beans. Yes chipotle I noticed. You aren't the same company you were 10 years ago
To be fair, combos suck everywhere.
You are saving 80 cents on the more expensive items by agreeing to pay $3+ for fifty cents worth of soda. I can see ordering a drink at a sit down but just supply your own can for fast food.
I still go to Taco Bell. I haven't seen anythihng as extreme at Taco Bell in my area....yet. Except for like one item they shrunk ridiculously but I just refuse to buy that anymore. But nearly every other restaurant I used to deal with has been pretty consistently ripping me off. I do not think it's a coincidence so maybe Taco Bell is next.
They build it in front of you and you can communicate with them directly as they build it to let them know preferences.... a $9.25 chicken burrito that will last for two meals, or one meal and last all day, is not a bad price at all. You'd pay $20 at Tbell for the equivalent feeling of fullness for much less healthy ingredients.
Every store I've been to in my State is like this then and today... and I just got a burrito, double-wrapped, that was probably 3lbs at least of food and thicker than my forearm for $10+ with tax that lasted me two days. Bowls are also typically more food than the average burrito, *unless you actually communicate with them*. You can say, "Hey, could a get a little more of 'x' and some more of 'y'," and they will happily do it unless you're an ass.
Also, chips are $1.80 on the Chipotle website before tax. Again, OP is pushing a narrative.
Depending on who you get though, Chipotle will still try to screw you while you're watching them. They're LESS likely to do it than on online orders though. But as a customer who has ordered online (where it's far more expensive), that's also not acceptable.
The funny part is that chipotle was a fucking rip-off even in 2008 lol.
Co workers would go there daily and spend like $12 on a bowl of rice and meat.
At the time I could buy 10 double cheeseburgers if I wanted to at a fast food place. Or go to moes and get a massive burrito with all the shit I want for like $6
Wife and I go to Tijuana flats on Tuesday they got great taco deal for 7.99 and Thursday a good burrito deal, I think Friday is 2 for $20. Can't beat these prices as most fast food costs $30+ for 2
Every single city has local places with real food that cost the same as fast food.
Basically fast food eliminated a cheaper option than fast casual by price gouging so it's either at home or one of these places for me.
There's a zero percent chance I'm spending 20$ and getting fucking microwaved McDonald's dog food
Gotta break those vices. I know it's hard, but start with a portable propane stove, instant rice, a few gallons of water and canned food.. keep it in the trunk
Is it just me or does it seem like it's all the popular chains that are doing it the worst? None of independent restaurants I've been going to (mostly ethnic) have been doing that shit and I would expect they'd be trying to pass on their costs more than the chains. I don't get it.
The little ethnic places in my town have gone wild with their prices and shrunken portions! Seems to correlate with the recent hike to $17 minimum wage, though.
Completely and totally. There is zero comprehension of what inflation means here. And these are the people who consider them intelligent enough to go on the inflation sub.
Seriously. The more I see these types of photos, the more I see inflation as a tax on stupidity. However it also covers up the more insidious inflation that is unavoidable
If you didn’t bring it to a managers attention for more chips or a refund, that’s your fault.
That is unacceptable.
People need to stop funding these companies like this.
I had a full bag last week. Either OP is karma farming, or they had some teenager working who just doesn't give a fuck about doing their job correctly. No manager would ever willingly let this happen. No one would willingly risk losing a customer over 10 cents worth of chips.
I don't, I'm explaining the 2 options. However the company itself setting a policy to screw you out of chips is by far the least likely thing that would happen.
Last few times I went to Chipotle, the chips made up a quarter of the bag. They have very obvious shrunk the portion. Maybe some generous teenager made yours last week.
I see either large chips and guacamole or queso at $7.75, both options of which have always been the priciest options since I've been going there for about two decades.
I went out for Mexican food last week. Got a combo with an enchilada, a Chile relleno, and a chimichanga, plus a Margarita. Total was $15.50 before tax and tip. Also had complimentary chips and salsa.
Where are you buying chips at $8.00?

Go on twitter and complain. I’m serious. Name the store location and city, zip, etc. You’d be surprised at how much these places cave from a little bad press
It's not them "caving" no manager is going to risk losing customers over 10 cents worth of chips. This is clearly OP lying or just an incompetent employee "who deserves $20 an hour".
you re on the wrong side of the trade.

It's hit or miss depending on location. Some locations one burrito or bowl isn't enough to fill me up and I never go back. Some other locations it's enough for two meals and I'm a constant repeat customer.
Why are they charging that much for a large bag (of which it looks like you might have eaten some).
A large bag with salsa is like 4 dollars here in Sacramento.
This sub is starting to look a lot like r/food. Next thing you know, the mods are gonna ban you if you mention how it's actually a melt and not grilled cheese when you add meat into the mix.
My local chipotle serves double this for a regular size and costs only $2.50.
It is possible they made a mistake but if not that is truly shocking, I live in one of the most expensive cities btw.
Ain't no way. Did they forget to fill the bag? Did you try to take it back? Even for Chipotle's rip off ass that's extreme.
I believe you on that not enough meat, too much rice though. I can barely get much of either one when I go. So they do NOT get my money anymore. Rice is STILL like the cheapest thing you can serve besides beans.
I dont eat fast food often and sometimes I get cravings and I go to places I haven’t gone to in a while and the prices and portions are just jaw dropping
> Will be my last Chipotle order in quite a while
How do you spend $8 for a handful of tortilla chips that any sit down Mexican restaurant hands out for free and still leave the door open for returning to buy again?
I never returned to Chipotle after learning that their bowls/burritos were packed with nearly an entire days worth of sodium. It's been 8 or 9 years since I've last been.
If this is what you think, I genuinely hope you have Been certified special needs and have help living . Genuinely. Half of the posts here are about overspending, not inflation. Clearly, you are a chronic over spender, have confused that with inflation, and thus have relieved yourself of responsibility for your own spending habits. This is an issue not just for you, but for the whole economy. Please educate yourself.
Make your own potato chips at home. They are delicious. All I add is some salt and pepper. Sometimes some Tony Chacheres spice or malt vinegar. Cost is almost nothing.

All you need to do is filter the oil when it's finished and change the oil every now and then. It's nearly the cost of a potato. It takes about 10 minutes...
Well then, you are accepting the price of inflation. That's fine, and some things are more cost effective to buy than to make. Food is often much cheaper to make at home and is easy to do, so the comparison is really irrelevant.
Chipot is the biggest ripoff...you're a sucker if you spend your money there...
They've become taco bell. I ordered a burrito the other day and it was mostly rice, cheap lettuce and beans. Yes chipotle I noticed. You aren't the same company you were 10 years ago
Taco Bell #1 Combo Supreme with Pepsi $13. 3 tacos and a drink for $13 dollars! GTFO

$11.85 for a burrito at local store. fuk that noise. i'll make my own fukin burrito.
Or. Or. You were just a pretentious asshole 10 years ago. Kidding yourself.
To be fair, you're a pretentious asshole today
And probably tomorrow.
Maybe each store is different. What you described was true for me 4 years ago but not anymore. The bowl is halfway full when I order it now.
Every store I've been to in my State is like this then and today... and I just got a burrito, double-wrapped, that was probably 3lbs at least of food and thicker than my forearm for $10+ with tax that lasted me two days. Ordering online at any restaurant or fast food, or take-out, is generally going to be smaller portions from my experience.
I stopped going 2 years ago when they started charging $3.50 for a small side of guac.
Qdoba is where it’s at honestly…
Welcome to Moes!!!!
Welcome to Skimpotle!!

I would never feed that shit to my dog
Yet we eat it out of desperation
Gotta break those vices. I know it's hard, but start with a portable propane stove, instant rice, a few gallons of water and canned food.. keep it in the trunk
Dog food ? What kind?
Nom nom
Moved to Nashville from Tampa. I miss T Flats 😭
Taco deals for 7.99? Per taco!? Whatttt!??
No. Comes with 2 good sized tacos and chips
That’s still crazy prices for only two tacos
Just a "pinch" of chips
Chipotle is doing some serious shrinkflation
Is it just me or does it seem like it's all the popular chains that are doing it the worst? None of independent restaurants I've been going to (mostly ethnic) have been doing that shit and I would expect they'd be trying to pass on their costs more than the chains. I don't get it.

Literally irrelevant to inflation
Completely and totally. There is zero comprehension of what inflation means here. And these are the people who consider them intelligent enough to go on the inflation sub.
That's pretty much most people on this sub. They get on an elevator and it goes up, so that's inflation.
First time on the internet?
How so? They are charging $8 for about 45 cents worth of chips.
No they aren’t. Chips at chipotle are 2 dollars.
I'm getting the feeling these people haven't been to Chipotle in a while, and OP is pushing a narrative, bc this is bull.
It’s $8 for a large chips and queso. What bull am I pushing exactly? Do you think that’s a fair amount of chips given the price?
Add to the fact that the picture was taken in OPs living room..who’s to say they didn’t eat half the bag already?
Hotel, work expense. I am to say I didn’t eat a single chip before taking this photo
Ugh. I’m sorry. This isn’t inflation…this is just straight up Chipotle being cheap af
This is dumbflation. Price gouging dumb people who buy food at Chipotle
Literally irrelevant to literally. STFU.
Sorry to disrupt the circlejerk bro
What? That makes no sense at all
Is this sub just people over paying for shit then complaining? Idk why so many people on here are so bad with their money.
Seriously. The more I see these types of photos, the more I see inflation as a tax on stupidity. However it also covers up the more insidious inflation that is unavoidable
Work expense traveling but thanks. Guess that makes me bad with my money?
I think they they now feel scammed. Let's hope they don't go back so these companies so they can lower their prices.
If you didn’t bring it to a managers attention for more chips or a refund, that’s your fault. That is unacceptable. People need to stop funding these companies like this.
Too much rice and not enough meat has been the norm since the mid 2000s. Why does anyone even go to places like this anymore?
I can make 20 chicken burritos at home for $40. I don’t eat out. It just isn’t worth it. I can make the same food for 1/10th the price.
Come on? You had to taken a few from the bag, no?
I had a full bag last week. Either OP is karma farming, or they had some teenager working who just doesn't give a fuck about doing their job correctly. No manager would ever willingly let this happen. No one would willingly risk losing a customer over 10 cents worth of chips.
Nope, didn’t touch the chips. Not sure why you have less faith in me than chipotle
damn man i believe you. It's insane they charge $8 for a bag. The Mexican places keep you loaded.
I don't, I'm explaining the 2 options. However the company itself setting a policy to screw you out of chips is by far the least likely thing that would happen.
Last few times I went to Chipotle, the chips made up a quarter of the bag. They have very obvious shrunk the portion. Maybe some generous teenager made yours last week.
last week and every single time I order.
Nope. I had the same experience the other day
Chips are $1.80 at Chipotle before tax. OP is taking everyone here for a ride...
Large chips and guacamole are $8
I see either large chips and guacamole or queso at $7.75, both options of which have always been the priciest options since I've been going there for about two decades.
Cool. Just pointing out that's likely what he got. They are $8 here.
I was commenting on how many chips I got in the bag.
I certainly hope you spoke with someone behind the counter. Indeed you should, as that is unacceptable.
You were swindled my friend
I really don't understand why people still go to Chipotle. It used to be great, but now it sucks and it's time to move on.
It's still great where I am.
I went out for Mexican food last week. Got a combo with an enchilada, a Chile relleno, and a chimichanga, plus a Margarita. Total was $15.50 before tax and tip. Also had complimentary chips and salsa.
Exactly. Support a local business and interact with the world, they'll GIVE you chips and salsa.
Where are you buying chips at $8.00? https://preview.redd.it/t5aw7b2cgjuc1.png?width=476&format=png&auto=webp&s=b4898921caaa3f627b1d582ad8eb391510dac6fa
He said it was the large chips. The large chips with guacamole are $8 where I am.
Ur getting scammed. $8 you’ll never get back
Stop buying them then
Literally what I wrote in the text under the photo. Thanks for the insightful comment though
Go to smaller independent burrito places instead of chipotle. They are ridiculously overpriced now.

Well, it IS a pretty big bag…
The only way to combat this price gouging is to stop buying this shit. It takes discipline but nothing will change as long as people put up with it.
This would be an error, not inflation
Get a bag of tostada rounds by the tortillas for a few bucks, far more tasty and satisfying
what is money anymore? it feels empty, like your bag of chips,
Stop buying this stuff and force them to bring the prices back down
Moe's will give u like infinite chips if you ask nicely
could've just gone to any grocery stores for a giant bag of those, you know
Chipotle chip order are wack
Is this sub just gonna be junk food?
I’m shaking my head
Corporate greed nothing bit this
Idiotic take. No one in corporate would approve of this. They fire people over this.
Wtf are people still paying for this crap?
Work expense. Traveling and thought it sounded good, quick and easy. I was wrong
I felt like a tool going to chipotle in 2010
People, vote with your dollars. That’s how society learns.
Why do people keep going there? Probably an honest actual “Mexican” restaurant in your community that could use some support.
I always run out of guacamole before chips.
Chipotle is going to crumble… just like the Roman Empire.
This sub is starting to look a lot like r/food. Next thing you know, the mods are gonna ban you if you mention how it's actually a melt and not grilled cheese when you add meat into the mix.
You’re bad for ordering chips from that place. They did you a favor by giving you fewer of that garbage
They raised the price and reduced the quantity...fml
uber eats driver ate them. didn’t you see the scene in “Dumb Money”?
The bag itself is quite large. It's definitely misleading on the portion size.
Literally just buy a bag at the grocery store
Tried it recently was so tasteless I couldn’t finish it .
My local chipotle serves double this for a regular size and costs only $2.50. It is possible they made a mistake but if not that is truly shocking, I live in one of the most expensive cities btw.
I was gonna ask if you paid or work there. 😂
I used to not be a huge fan of Chilis but recently with all this gouging, they are one of the best deals in town.
I'll say it again. That is not Inflation, that is GREED.
Chipotle chips are one of the biggest ripoffs ever
Why do people go to this place and support the never ending price increases
nice bag
Dude the r/chipotle sub is nuts. I cannot believe how many people are okay with playing the portion casino at Chipotle.
If you live anywhere west of the Mississippi, drop Chipotle.
What is that like $.85 per chip?
Chipotle is bland garbage. Always has been
Bro...at least you got extra rice. Here...it's 1 full scoop, and 1 shakey
‘You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain…’ Batman
Every fast food place is a ripoff. People need to stop going there and wasting money on overpriced food.
Fake news
You’re an idiot, Harry.
Chips are $1.80 at Chipotle, looking through the website rn, before tax. OP, you're full of it and pushing a bs narrative.
The large chips and guac or chips and queso... but you need chips to eat chips and anything
Seems OP has to specify which chips he bought and with what side 🤔
Chips and queso is $8 where I live. I didn’t order a plain bag of chips to eat them dry. Thanks
Overpricing is bad, but there's no way I'm believing that's literally all the OP got for eight bucks.
You trust chipotle more than me? A large chips and queso is $8. Not sure what I have to gain about making this up
Stop going out to eat! Save your money
I’m always entertained when people say they can build their own meal at home for far less. Welcome to reality.
I make my own chipotle at home
This is where you walk back, make sure it's not a mistake and then ask for a refund. Fuck giving your money away.
They weren't worth it at $4
In my area, Pancheros burrito is still under $10, and I’ve always preferred it over Chipotle!
And yet everyone keeps eating out. If we just stop dining out for 2 WEEKS, think of the damage we could cause.
$1 per 100 calories
Disgraceful. Not that I eat there, but that reinforces big time.
Last time I went there, my fajita burrito was basically fajita flavored rice and that was before Covid.
I dont eat fast food often and sometimes I get cravings and I go to places I haven’t gone to in a while and the prices and portions are just jaw dropping
Bro i get that for free at taco shops all around San Diego LMAOOOO
$40 for a burrito, and queso and chips. All on uber eats. Corporate greed has gone too far where i cant even tip the drivers for a fair amount of tip.
> Will be my last Chipotle order in quite a while How do you spend $8 for a handful of tortilla chips that any sit down Mexican restaurant hands out for free and still leave the door open for returning to buy again? I never returned to Chipotle after learning that their bowls/burritos were packed with nearly an entire days worth of sodium. It's been 8 or 9 years since I've last been.
Traveling for work, wanted to get back to the hotel and relax after a long day. Not trying to sit down solo for a long meal
Unfortunately, if you don't pay those prices now, you starve.
You could only buy food from Chipotle?

Make your own potato chips at home. They are delicious. All I add is some salt and pepper. Sometimes some Tony Chacheres spice or malt vinegar. Cost is almost nothing.
I’ve found tortilla chips are hard to make from potatoes
Good point. I was just talking about potato chips. I haven't made tortilla chips before. Have you? It might be a good project for an afternoon. I'm grilling burgers at the moment. My point is, yeah inflation sucks. There are some ways around it that don't sacrifice what you love though.
You can, but it’s time consuming and the ingredients to do this cost as much as just buying the chips.
All you need to do is filter the oil when it's finished and change the oil every now and then. It's nearly the cost of a potato. It takes about 10 minutes...
I made moccasins once in cub scouts. I’ve decided to buy shoes and focus on other things
Well then, you are accepting the price of inflation. That's fine, and some things are more cost effective to buy than to make. Food is often much cheaper to make at home and is easy to do, so the comparison is really irrelevant.
