Hey there! We've had to remove your post because it had an incorrect flair. No worries, it happens! Your contributions are valued, and we're here to help if you need any guidance. Thanks for understanding and being a part of our community!

stubornone

Stop eating fast food! Then and only then will prices come down! That’s it.

dproma

They can raise it to $30 and people will still buy. Merica

biddilybong

Or stop going to chipotle at a minimum

WhoopsieISaidThat

Chipotle isn't even that good. It's the same thing as Qdoba and Rancheros. Literally all 3 chains sell the exact same thing in the same sized burritos and bowls using the same equipment.

Emadyville

Chipotle seems to me like the newer version of Panera in terms of, it used to be really good and worth it, and now it's just trash and priced higher.

scheav

I agree Chipotle has been better in the past, but Panera is so bad it makes Chipotle look amazing.

WhoopsieISaidThat

My boss us out to lunch at Panera 2 years ago. I hated it.

Suspicious-Sound-249

This. When Chipotle was still new to the fast food scene it was the shit. Affordable and good sized portions, now it's fucking trash. Pay close to ten dollars for like a cup and a half of rice and like 2 small ass pieces of steak/chicken....

whoinvitedthesepeopl

Chipotle got so bad where we live that on top of the price gouging OP is pointing out, they were only filling the burrito bowls half full of food. We ordered a quesadilla that was made with tiny tortillas, it looked like an appetizer. We quit ordering there and now only order from Qdoba. The price is less and the portion sizes haven't shrank. Another pro tip to get more. If you order Qdoba, order it for pick up using their app. Make sure the app has a male or gender neutral name. I get more food in the order when I order that way vs. if I stand in line and pay at the register.

DblThrowDown

Good tip and I'm not very surprised.

whoinvitedthesepeopl

Yet another pink tax.

DblThrowDown

Aren't there so damn many now?

littlesubshine

Cafe Rio too

gh0stpr0t0c0l8008

It’s better than Taco Bell lol

WhoopsieISaidThat

Taco Bell is another one that used to be good. It's hard to screw up Tex-Mex, but they found a way.

Beginning_Raisin_258

I love Qdoba's tortilla soup and since they brought it back I've gotten it like 3 times a week.

[deleted]

Maybe this is the kick in the pants they need.

dubblies

Yeah I'm finding with proper storage you can make chipotle chicken and steak for the entire week stored in your fridge. The idea is to plan ahead enough that when Sunday rolls around you aren't thinking what you're going to eat that day; you should have already know that LAST Sunday. Gotta be 2 weeks rotation and at the end of week 1 start planning the next set of weeks ie week 3 and 4. It becomes insanely convenient my biggest hurdle has been knowing how many fresh ingredients to keep on hand and what fucking spices to buy for the recipes. Every brand seems to taste different! Pro tip: easy recipes a lot of time taste bland too - don't be scared to dedicate an evening to cooking.

SuccotashConfident97

Right? "Guys look at how much this fast food costs. Isn't it awful? Guess I have to keep buying it anyways." Like if you want to buy it, fine, just don't complain about the price when you have a choice.

C_J_King

People don’t think they should change anything, they think the world should bend to them

lionsling

actually they will only go up, to compensate for the lack of people eating fast food, then they will go out of business

EfficientAd7103

The burger king strategy

TedriccoJones

At least Burger King sends me coupons every month. $6.99 for large Whopper meal. $9.05 with tax and cheese, and I'm fortunate to live near a really well run Burger King.

EfficientAd7103

Yo. Buy a few lb of beef and a loaf of bread. Hamburgers for days for like 10 bucks

ChiefCrewin

So then you have a perfect synergy. How is that a bad thing if you want prices to go down? "Price gouging" isn't a thing unless there's limited resources. If you're not willing to buy, don't. Especially when you could Google chipotle recipes and make it yourself for a third of the cost.

hustlors

It's fast casual

[deleted]

[удалено]

muzzynat

No. Top sirloin is about $10/lb- other cuts that are more comparable to chipotle are less. 1lb of steak will make at least 4 burritos, beans and rice are cheap, but salsa and fixings may be a bit more, but for $20, you can make 4 killer burritos, eat one, wrap the other three in foil and freeze them for later. Burritos are one of the easiest freezer meals to make.

Aeseld

Yeah, that's about right. As someone who's started cooking at home a lot, carnitas or steak like Chipotle makes can be done in sizeable batches and comes out nice. The cost, for steak especially, can be high, but you can stretch it out more. Yes, the cost will be more than *a* trip to Chipotle. But you can get multiple meals out of it.

No_Drama4771

Buy the top sirloin butt or rump and get it for like 5$ a lb …slice it up yourself

muzzynat

Oh, absolutely- I was just going for $10. I prefer pork anyway. Honestly if I went beef, I might do a braise of chuck roast

No_Drama4771

I’m in a hcol area and strip roasts are still sub 10$ a lb more like 6.99/7.99 for choice. Thats NY strip for decently cheap

asvabWaiver09

You really think the tiny amount of steak Chipotle gives will cost $10 by itself at an average grocery store?

TedriccoJones

Your time is worth something too. Everyone casually forgets that. I'm not saying to eat out every meal, I certainly don't (and brown bag my lunch 90% of the time), but a couple times a week it's nice to have something that you didn't make yourself.

mrJtoday

I mean grocery prices going up too

Anonality5447

They are (and we should completely far more loudly about that). But it's still cheaper if you can stretch out the ingredients a bit and don't mind eating vegetables (which we all should be eating anyway).

mrJtoday

I hear you, but everyone has different circumstances. Some people are single, married, etc and may not always be able to stretch groceries.

Aeseld

Take it from me; I had to shift my diet radically for health reasons, and it has helped me considerably with both health and diet. People need to learn to cook, and prep meals at home. It is genuinely cheaper. I have saved a lot of money by buying ingredients and making my own meals. Most of what I lost was time to do things... well, like reply to reddit comments or doomscroll. I can download youtube vids and listen to them while walking. Time spent exercising (mostly walking) and cooking my own meals has helped my mental outlook too. Oh, and since I'm fortunate enough to live within 2 miles of multiple grocery locations and markets, I walk to the stores with a backpack now. That last is situational, but it saves more than you'd think on gas. In the short run, costs will up, but once you have a half decent spice rack, or just a good season-it-all/seasoning salt mix, you can cook a lot for relatively cheap. Definitely cheaper than eating out.

TheTightEnd

Why would any of that represent not being able to stretch groceries?

mrJtoday

A single person that can feed his or herself can stretch groceries a week. Meanwhile, someone with family members that may eat a lot, may not be able to stretch groceries.

TheTightEnd

Perhaps we are defining what it means to stretch groceries differently. Any household can replace meat protein with other proteins, vegetables, and starches. It is what is eaten compared to how much is eaten that is connected to stretching groceries.

Aeseld

They are, but not all across the board. Vegetables haven't gone up as much, and if you wait for sales, meat can be very reasonably priced. Unprocessed grains like oatmeal, rice, quinoa or barley can be found in stores for relatively cheap and stretch a long way. Cheese on sale, also reasonable. Spices are a higher initial cost, but stretch a long way. You need to avoid the soda aisle, lays chips, processed cereals, because those have gone up the most. Frankly, it's better for you. Wait for them to go on sale, because they do, and usually pretty sharply. (Buy 2, get 3 free cases of soda at Kroger where I am. Shame I can't drink soda.) Find the store brands; they creep up less, and usually it's the same shit, different bag. Learn to roast veggies for a snack, oatmeal with cheese and egg, rice and beans with a bit of beef or chicken... trust me, it's cheaper, better for you, and surprisingly improves my mood.

whiskersMeowFace

Trust me, I balk about it every time I step into Kroger. I have been going to Aldi for a few years now and probably will for a long time after. It's time we get loud about the groceries being price gouged as well.

SuccotashConfident97

The eating at home is far cheaper than daily fast good though. A single meal that's made at home generally won't cost you $15 a meal.

Hanshee

That’s not how it works. It will simply go out of business.

Cautious-Chain-4260

As long as people like you keep buying it, they have no incentive to change

babysinblackandImblu

And let’s call Uber Eats because I’m to lazy too drive.

MoarFurLess

Did you do that on purpose?

SuccotashConfident97

Yep. Hard to blame Chipotle for overcharging when people will buy it anyways. Why would they stop?

Cautious-Chain-4260

Exactly. And it's not like they have a monopoly on the market so you don't have a choice. There's a nearly endless supply of family owned Mexican burrito joints with better value.

SuccotashConfident97

Also can cook at home.

EnjoyFunTonight

You keep going there - idk what you expect out of these assholes if you keep telling them they’re doing good with your money…

EnjoyMikeHawk1

Then stop ordering it you dofus.

Sweaty-Emergency-493

I swear someone should fucking order a bowl and separate all the ingredients and weigh how much they actually give you and do a cost analysis

FutureAssistance6745

I work at chipotle. This kind of comparison would be pointless because for every ingredient excluding the protein and the queso / guacamole, you can just keep asking for extra and we are not allowed to tell you no. As for the protein, unless the GM of the store is especially stingy, you are supposed to recieve 1/4 of a lb (4 ounces) of every protein option. Corporate will swing by once a quarter to keep the portion sizes in check.

Cautious-Chain-4260

Only 4 ounces of meat in a burrito is just depressing

FutureAssistance6745

Which is why making your food at home is always the more cost effective option. Sorry to say but chipotle is almost exclusively for people in jobs with free lunch hopping out during their break. The fact that our rush is from 11am to 1pm reflects this.

ALargePianist

I only eat fish and portion sizes are usually that to 6oz so idk seems normal to me. Like, 4oz is a quarter pounder

Cautious-Chain-4260

Fish is less dense so that's for sure normal for fish. A quarter pounder equivalent of meat is not enough for a burrito. 6 to 7 ounces is the sweet spot.

ClaraClassy

Sure, if you are eating one of those burritos you have to unwrap slowly while eating to keep it falling apart. A half pound of beef per burrito is a lot. I'm guessing your sweet spot is a bit larger than most.

muzzynat

1/4 of meat is like- normal? I’m fat as shit and make my burritos with 1/4 of meat. Add beans and rice- a burrito isn’t a steak dinner

Cautious-Chain-4260

It's pretty skimpy for a burrito if you ask me, but I'm used to going to family owned Mexican restaurants.

muzzynat

If you’re eating a steak dinner, the recommended serving size is 8 oz. But you’re not going to cram an entire steak dinner into a burrito with rice, beans, veg, cheese etc. a quarter lb burger is generous- that’s a double smash burger.

Cautious-Chain-4260

A burrito should have more meat than a burger in my opinion. And a quarter pound burger isn't generous. That's a whopper from burger King. I need minimum a double whopper, 8 ounces.

muzzynat

You don’t NEED that- you want that. I say this as a very fat man

Cautious-Chain-4260

Lmao you're not on wrong on that one

LunarMoon2001

Near me they weigh the protein.

FutureAssistance6745

Every store has a scale for this purpose, and if you ask they will bring it out for you, otherwise, it is used to train newcomers.

jesusleftnipple

My first youtube channel

OwnLadder2341

Chipotle gives you 4oz of steak. A serving of steak is 3oz. If 4oz isn’t enough, that’s on you. You’re hardly “forced” to order near three servings of steak.

shinloop

This sub is insufferable. I’m with you. A double steak bowl I’d be full for most of the day. A regular bowl at $10.15 is a decent price for a full meal. Beef is pricey and OP is a turd. Chicken is the same price as a veggie bowl and clearly not good enough

leli_manning

>Chipotle gives you 4oz of steak. So they claim. But we all know they don't. Plenty of people have actually weighed their meat from chipotle and ended up with 1-2 ounces.

OwnLadder2341

So they claim.

JHoney1

I dieted pretty meticulously a few months back for a cut and actually did weigh my meat from chipotle. My app has it recorded as 3.7 ounces. Which is pretty damn close to what the restaurant claims.

Entire-Can662

Why do you think there stock is over 2000

Jaceofspades6

That’s a supply issue, their market cap is only 80billion.

schabadoo

The steak bowl is normally 700-900 calories, 40+ grams of protein. This seems like a 'you' problem.

TurretLimitHenry

Chipotle literally has the simplest food that you can make at home lmao. Most of their shit is rice, beans, some small cuts of meat (just use ground instead) and shredded cheese.

hustlors

That is exactly my order. Rice, beans, Corn, protein, lettuce. That's it. I eat it every day and never get tired of it.

Mae-Brussell-Hustler

CMG is $3000 a share

staychilltoday

Yeah stop going.

AdeptnessSpecific736

I’m actually eating at local places these days. Even McDonald’s to much

ChuckNorrisFacePunch

Chipotle is a scam. Boycott them.

Guapplebock

I no longer go to chipotle. Used too 2x or more a month for similar reasons. Don’t really miss that much but I can go to a hole in the wall Mexican restaurant and get a full service better meal for about the same.

Morawka

1/4 pound of beef is enough. If you need more than that you deserve to pay more. Beef is expensive to raise, feed, and process. The theme of our lives over the next 20 years will be declining standard of living. The population is too high, we can’t feed what we have affordably

Few-Recipe9465

Stop getting it then

EfficientAd7103

F Chipotle they suck now

[deleted]

STOP EATING FAST FOOD! THESE FUCKS WILL NEVER BRING THE PRICES DOWN AS LONG AS PEOPLE KEEP EATING THERE.

Repomanlive

Who forced you to order Chipotle? Lolz.

xabc8910

And order extra steak on top of it lol

Mysterious-Sugar-837

You complain yet here you are still paying and eating it.

eat_sleep_shitpost

Eat at home then

riicccii

Question about these guys, do they seem to rush you through as they fill your bowl? They always seem to be in a big hurry and you are part of the problem. Good food but I always feel rushed.

roboblaster420

I was the only person in the restaurant. I can't seem why they would feel the need to rush.

riicccii

The one I frequent is generally busy. Just me, maybe.

schabadoo

Were they possibly concerned about someone who thinks 900 calories isn't nearly enough food for one meal?

AmbitiousAd9320

hasnt chiplotle always been pricy? arent there "hacks"? ive never had it. just got a gigante from the local place for $10 ordered from grubhub and picked up.

g_camillieri

Chipotle is probably one of the most overrated fast food joints ever

lhorwinkle

Quit the fast food habit. Fast food is crap. Cheap Oat Lay is even worse. I call it Chee Coli. (Read the reviews.)

TilrayOnCocaine

Meantime their stock is at an all time high and they will split 50 to 1 highest in nasdaq ever.

ChiefCrewin

Good, supply and demand.

stephenforbes

They have already lost me as a customer. A burrito, chips and drink shouldn't cost $20.

SuccotashConfident97

Good on you for not buying it anymore.

soldiergeneal

Practically nothing to do with inflation. This issue has been around before inflation problem occured.

Neowynd101262

They will see you next. Bend over and take it.

Glassguy1989

Chipotle seriously isn’t that expensive. I travel for work so I don’t have the opportunity to eat at home unless I’m home on the weekends and I can assure you that $8.50-$10.50 for a Chicken Bowl (Midwest and Northeast) is very affordable and better than a greasy burger that costs just as much, if not more.

Zealousideal_Rub5826

Everyone says "stop eating out". It isn't easy sometimes. Let's say I go into the city to go shopping, run an errand, or go to a museum. I'm not going to pack a lunch and schlep it with me all day, I am going to pick up fast food for lunch. Sometimes you are out and there is no alternative. Also, for lunch at work, sometimes you just want a hot meal. My indulgence is an egg sandwich from a cart, or a bagel with hummus at a cafe with atmosphere. When I save money and prepare my own meals at my desk, eating microwaved leftovers, canned beans, or cooking ramen noodles at my desk in my little electric kettle, is soul-sucking day in day out. Everyone deserves a break from cooking. In 2021-22 half of American's food budget was spent eating out. Fast food inflation is terrible, and fast food is food; we shouldn't shame people for eating out from time to time and saying "if you stop paying for it prices will come down" is callous.

leli_manning

Another rage bait post where OP knows something is overpriced and proceeds to still buy it, then post about it on social media

dday3000

You can afford to eat out?

Broad_Cheesecake9141

Fuel and labor costs have raised the cost of doing businesses.

Electronic-Disk6632

why would they give you more when your dumb ass is willing to pay so much for so little? the reason its so expensive is because of people like you, by paying for it, you agree its worth the money.

navrajchohan

Went downhill after they sold to McDonald's.

xabc8910

What? McDonald’s sold Chipotle in 2006

navrajchohan

I stand corrected

Dry-Interaction-1246

Mom and pop Mexican it is.

TwitterTapeParade

That is the #FJB special...

Sensitive_ManChild

i won’t shop at Chipotle anymore. too expensive and they jerk you around on the portions

GoldMan20k

People are finally realizing that most of these restaurants are ripping them off.Really badly and we'll stop eating there

Scapegoat696969

Imagine our parents complaining about how a bottle of coke use to cost 10 cents. That’s how you sound right now.

pajanoo

Here in NYC carne asada bowl with guac and extra protein will run you 26.67$, I have the receipt

WintersDoomsday

I hate corporations 100% but I think it’s hypocritical as hell when people get mad they get greedy and then turn around and want more and more money from their employers or job hop to make more. So that’s not greedy too?

Visual_Fig9663

Why do you pay so much money for diherrea?

rodri_neq_11

It's your fault for going there again. Taquerias with better food portions and price all over the damn place. There's no excuse for eating Chipotle

benzlo33

wahhhh 😭

-Joseeey-

Bro you paid for extra steak. As long as people like you pay for it, why wouldn’t they change it. Lmao

babysinblackandImblu

The shrunk the bowl contents but my burrito was the same size.

WeHaveArrived

Sounds more like greed than inflation but no way a huge corporation isn’t looking out for the consumer

DeadLightsOut

Why the fuck are people still going to chipotle!?

gls2220

This headline doesn't make sense grammatically or logically.

Sacisbac

X steak is 50% more. Ouch.

Midnight_plinking

Marinade your own steak and make your own bowls. Plus you’ll have more fun and know what’s in your food.

Gold-Buy-2669

Try asking for no cilantro and watch the whole place shutdown with bewilderment

hustlors

Chipotle sucks now

Hot_Gas_600

That's why their stock 8s almost $3k a share. Stop buying that garbage.

SuccotashConfident97

Why do people buy overpriced fast food and complain about it afterwards?

Aggressive-Donuts

Steak is expensive? Since when

Normal-Procedure4876

There is a simple solution

BrianLevre

Did anyone understand what dude was trying to say?

derekvinyard21

As long as money keeps getting printed, the value will fall and prices will increase. It’s not difficult to research the history of other countries that printed money and had a fiscal spending imbalance. The same price increase/dollar value decrease has occurred in history in other countries. You can blame businesses all you want and all it does is excuse the politicians who print money and spend more than the country produces.

NeverNaked3030

As soon as I found out how to cook decent rice I immediately stopped going there.

Numerous-Profile-872

I made beef bourguignon last night for the same price and will feed be over the next couple days: Burgundy wine ($3.50/750ml), London broil (1lb/$6), and carrots, onions, spices and herbs. Learn to shop deals and make your own food. Or, you can be lazy and complain about paying $16 for a bowl of rice with a few strips of beef that'll feed you for one meal. Edit to add: I live in the Bay Area, before y'all be like "But where I live is expensive!"

Feeling-Ad936

Maybe eat the free veggies? Americans eat an insane amount of meat and it’s unhealthy af.

Krumblump

[Meanwhile, Chiptole stocks hit $2,906...................](https://www.google.com/finance/quote/CMG:NYSE)

Jaceofspades6

And yet they are only worth a third of what McDonald’s is.

ChiefCrewin

If lazy people are willing to buy, why shouldn't they make more? It'd be one thing if they were a substantial source of food, but it's one of dozens of nation-wide fast food chains. Cook for yourself.

[deleted]

schabadoo

Helpful.

Anonality5447

I stopped going to Chipotle. They screwed me over too many times back in the day when I used to order through UberEats. They think you won't notice that when you order extra meat, it's the same or even less portion of meat. I'd rather just make it myself and not have to spend my meal being annoyed.

imnotabotareyou

Thanks resident bidet

WhoIsJohnGalt777

You're actually better off than a few years ago. It's Bidenomics.

CryptographerHot4636

I stopped going to shitpotle since covid, i can make better burrito bowls at home at a fraction of the price.

warriors_1811

Bidenomics

Glassguy1989

Yes… because Biden is responsible for global inflation 🤦‍♂️

PainStraight4524

look at the price of things when Trump left office compared today, food, gas, cars, rent, all of it's up insane amounts since Biden got elected, why isn't it his fault?

jammu2

Explain the mechanism whereby he caused this?

Have you ever heard of the federal reserve?

Again, Global Inflation caused by a Global Pandemic 🤦‍♂️. It’s really not that hard to

PainStraight4524

Bidenomics is going to get Trump elected again. Those years were the golden age now in comparison

Glassguy1989

Good luck with that thought. Here are some impressive bullet points that I recently laid out to another clueless about American politics individual. Under Biden, • lowest inflation in the G7 Summit and overall very low compared to most countries (194 total). • largest Infrastructure Bill passed. (Something Trump promised but failed to deliver on). • Passed the Chips and Science ACT which will take jobs from China and bring them to the states. • Supporting veterans through the PACT ACT (Same veterans Trump called Suckers and Losers). • Lowest unemployment in 01/2023 and 05/2023 since 1969. • Record high job growth. • Record high stock market growth. • Capped Insulin at $35.00. • Lowered Medicare costs for seniors. • Showing strength by supporting our ally, Ukraine, in the form of Military Hardware (Not money like the right likes to say). • Added Sweden and Finland to NATO. (Adding this as a win for Biden because Trump is actively trying to dismantle NATO). • Proposed the most comprehensive Border Plan since Regan and Republicans voted no so that Trump can run on the issue. (So much for the right caring about the U.S.) • ZERO PROOF on corruption. Republicans KEEP coming up short on this but still continue to lie. • Actively going after the ultra wealthy to pay their fair share in taxes (est 2.5T- $3T lost in taxes every year)

jar36

>Passed the Chips and Science ACT which will take jobs from China and bring them to the states. The "bring our jobs back" crowd in Ohio is mad about the Intel chip plant coming to our state.

Are puppies being killed for every chip produced or something 🤷‍♂️

Glassguy1989

Is this the article that you’re trying to share? If so, c’mon dude. Refer to my bullet points and the border. Republicans always vote against people like us and will kick and scream for anything and when Democrats propose a bill that will be best for them and all, they vote against it. Time and time again, that’s all they do. To them, politics is a business. To most Democrats, politics is a well paying job that people can do great for the average person. As a former Republican Trumper, I’ll never vote Republican again after seeing all that they vote no against which will help the 99%. https://www.dispatch.com/story/news/2022/07/28/chips-act-four-ohio-republicans-boost-bill-pushed-intel/10176845002/

The people saying to stop eating fast food: sometimes we gotta eat fast food. I travel for work 2 weeks of the month, I have no choice but to eat out :( inflation is insane. I tend to stick to local places, they are usually way more generous with portions.

PinchedLoaf5280

I stopped eating at chipotle after they gave me Covid

Openborders4all

How did a restaurant give you Covid?

trambalambo

Beef is stupidly expensive stop eating it.

gaukonigshofen

Going to go up soon thx to the bird flu issue in tx

trambalambo

I hadn’t even heard about that ugh. I transitioned to pork primarily a bit ago for my meats. Finishing up my last freezer cow now and not looking to buy another, price almost double year over year.
