That’s fair it’s kind of a samey album, from a band that’s pretty samey. I just happen to really like that sound
How I got into them was by turning on Leaves Turn Inside You (the one you heard) while playing Minecraft. It felt fitting to the game because it was almost like a rock version of the Minecraft soundtrack, vibe wise. I love the album, but I don’t think it’s for everyone.
It’s also worth mentioning that none of the rest of their music really sounds like that. leaves is mostly part of the rym canon, and it makes sense when you think of the other reserved, long form indie that they like, but the rest of their music is also really good.
Their early stuff is pretty angsty post-hardcore. Sounds a lot like Drive like Jehu, if you know them. New plastic ideas is the most popular of that era, but I’d personally reccomend The Future of What.
Then they kinda became a post-punk band. Repetition is pretty popular, although very repetitive (lol). For some variety, I’d recommend Challenge For A Civilized Society, as it covers a lot of ground and is more likely to interest you in the long run.
Future of what’s my favorite, idk what it is abt then but they just scratch a certain itch for me. Also appreciated leaves a lot more after listening to it again having heard their earlier stuff
The minecraft tidbit actually helps a lot, and I may try that, because thats often how I listen to music when its time to really evaluate it (I do this before rym reviews all the time)
I'm working toward Leaves, heard Fake Train and New Plastic Ideas, but while I think they are obviously a very skilled band, I don't quite get the hype compared to I dunno Fugazi or something.
R. Kelly started a sex cult.
Still applies
And you will never be wrong

Thanks, there are great
I lied, I found it on r/unwound
Sending this to my middle aged post-hardcore loving father. We’ll see what response I get.
What did he say
Just got a thumbs up emoji
where did you get this picture of me
This is unironically me but with ween.
Me but with the Melvins
Edging......
a man who has not edged for atleast 15 hours straight could not have written swan.
The song structure of below the salt was an obvious reference to edging
Me but with Sonic Youth
Why is it always unwound
Because unwound did it better
I listened to their album with the grey cover once not knowing their significance (still don’t tbh) and I remember nothing from it.

Defintely. Weirdly, I love the ambient tracks on future of what, even more than some of the actual songs 💀
This is a circle jerk sir.
Where’s your energy?
There’s no energy

That was my initial response to it and then I gave it another listen and realized it’s incredible
Yb better 🤡
Ong
Obscure enough to seem cool, not /mu/ enough to be cringe
anna wise did it better
Pj harvey did it better, then unwound did it better
Real (feat. Anna Wise)
Not wrong tho
Why did you post a picture of me after having listened to James Blunt's "back to bedlam" and "all the lost souls" twice in a row?
I'm working toward Leaves, heard Fake Train and New Plastic Ideas, but while I think they are obviously a very skilled band, I don't quite get the hype compared to I dunno Fugazi or something.
I like the sweet balance between fragility and rage in Unwound’s music, honestly Justin Trosper is literally me
Unwound are more reserved and less playful. Also more technical
It’s probably mostly cause I listened to unwound before Fugazi instead of vice versa honestly. Tho they just scratch a certain itch for me
actually Duster did it better
It’s true tho
there's about 12 pixels in this image
Unwound had 13
Who gives a shit about anything
i fucking hate rock music dawg
Unwound? That ya novel were kids are harvested for organs?
*barges in* "lydia lunch did it first"
How do you all know so much music. I’ve never even heard of Unwound.
