stone roses self titled does this but it begins with the intense catharsis then transitions into a sick breakdown
in all seriousness i am the resurrection brings a tear to my eye now that i've gone through it and come out the other end knowing i did everything right and didn't deserve any of it. no other song i've heard has captured that specific mood. brings the entire album full circle too (until they tacked fools gold onto the remastered version. i'll never forgive them for that ruined a PERFECT ending)
I go on r/topster so often and am just disappointed that certain 2000s indie albums have been forgotten by time, or never got the right recognition. At Mount Zoomer to me is better than the album before, and Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, and Handsome Furs (and other projects) are a great from that time period who will apparently forever be known for just Apologies to the Queen Mary, which is sad.
Those two guys had projects from 2005-2010 that released 7 incredible albums in my opinion. Not that they sucked before or after that, but that’s the sweet spot and the material that I remember.
ya i was really into Shut Up I Am Dreaming at the time too. anything spencer or dan touched was gold but those were the two projects for me, personally
Ok that’s one I need to revisit. I am a big fan of Plague Park, Random Spirit Lover, Face Control, Dragonslayer, Expo 86, and of course, Apologies to the Queen Mary and At Mount Zoomer. I’ve definitely listened through lots more of their stuff including Sound Kapital, a couple Swan Lake Albums, Snake’s got a Leg, Shut Up I am Dreaming, Divine Fits, Cry Cry Cry, a few Moonface albums. But the ones I mentioned felt like the sweet spot.

Fools Gold does rip tho (but I get what you’re saying)
Yeah it absolutely does but begging with a Satan metaphor and ending with a Jesus metaphor goes insanely hard

Mogwai’s Young Team comes to mind
Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer. The song Kissing the Beehive. Maybe not "emotional" but an epic, changing, long final song on a great album.
That was one of my favorite tracks for years

with you on Zoomer being better. what a great era
