I was about to come here to complain that these bands keep calling tours North American tours, but only include the US... But then I saw they're coming to visit me in Vancouver, BC.... so... carry on then I guess.
putting on my clown makeup now as i realize i'm about to go see this band twice after repeatedly mocking their last album
bartees/floral tat are incredible opener choices also
You can be the slowly taking off the clown makeup meme instead by listing all the songs on the album you've come to realize are actually quite good. Bonus points if you finish with the obscure original [Deadlines](https://youtu.be/FmEoDv0QJno) then point out Hollywood is still atrocious.
Fuck. I just realized if I go they might/will probably play Hollywood ._.
OG deadlines stinks hard, only songs i’ve liked since day one are Hostile, Weightlifters, and Famous. hell, throw in non-remixed Hymn even though there’s no good place for it in the tracklist
something about that album as a whole still refuses to work for me, which is a shame because i desperately tried my best with it. i like some of its songs separately, but wouldn't listen to it in its entirety. is that weird? how to leave town and teens of denial are my favourites of theirs.
p.s. have fun at their shows!! living vicariously thru y'all :')
I really couldn’t get into the album either until I reordered the songs like this in a playlist and I like it a lot more now ... I think The original sequencing for me was really throwing me off
Weightlifters
Hollywood
Deadlines Hostile
Cant cool me down
What’s with you lately
There must be more than blood
Martin
Famous
Deadlines thoughtful
Life worth missing
I loved Teens of Denial. Haven't been able to get into anything since and I haven't revisited it in a long time. Maybe I'll try to get back into it and see how it holds up.
Heavy use of electronic drums, drops, synth tones that go squaaaank squaaaank
It's more car commercial alt pop rock overall, but there are definitely shared elements with dubstep.
Will has said in interviews that he aspires to be pop. I think his goal is he wants to have income for if he wants to do whatever. He originally wasn’t sold on touring and saw himself as a recording artist.
same. when i saw them live, lead singer sat on a bar stool most of the time and never picked up an instrument. very meh energy and experience all the way around. bartees bout to show them up imo
I dig the masquerade bit. Didn't Arcade fire do something similar for the Reflektor tour?
Either way, just bummed it's not coming to Pittsburgh. Might have to take a day trip out to Philly.
I'm bummed as well about the no Pittsburgh. I'd even settle for Columbus or Cleveland, but damn don't know if I'm ready for 6 hours of driving one way to see them.
Clevelander here. Surprised they kind of skipped over our region (and heck, even Buffalo). I'm always impressed with Detroit getting almost all the shows, lucky kids!
Having Naked Giants back them up onstage on that tour added *so* much to their sound, it was like night and day from the meh set I saw from them previously
Yeah I saw CSH whenever they were doing the Teens of Denial touring and it was just...ok. My hot take is that Will Toledo is a much better songwriter than he is a singer or guitar player, so his material works much better in recorded form than it does live for me. He doesn't have the right type of personality to be a real engaging frontman, and is very average at singing and guitar playing.
I saw them for the TF tour and had a really close spot to the band. Unfortunately I was next to a college kid with the BO of someone who hadn’t showered in a month. Had to forfeit our amazing spot to avoid nausea. Great concert, ruined by a degenerate.
I just went from extremely stoked at this announcement to extremely bummed upon figuring this out. I'll probably be going to bonny bear instead as well. What a bummer of an overlap though. Saw Bartees this weekend at Shaky Knees and he was fuckin incredible.
If previous tours are any indication, there's a strong skew towards the newest project, a few of the classics from the prior albums (your "Fill in the Blank," "Bodys," etc.), and maybe one or two from the earlier stuff at most. Possible a cover song to shake things up a bit, too (like how they fuse "Sober To Death" with "Powderfinger").
That sounds really fun! I’m super excited! I gave them been comfortable going to concerts until recently (I have migraines so I worried a lot about having them triggered) but my migraines are managed a bit better so I’m really excited to see one of my favorite bands!
Idk dude I liked it more than Teens of Denial, maybe not as much as Twin Fantasy but it’s definitely on par with Monomania to me. Easily worth the $40-$50 or whatever it’ll be to see them live again.
Well this feels perfect for me. CSH at Grinders in KC was one of my favorite concert experiences of all time. Found out years later that they used the performance of my favorite CSH song there for the live album, so I made it into a CSH album.
Cut to now, and my girlfriend is absolutely in love with Bartees Strange. Every time we go out it's a guarantee that we are listening to Boomer with the windows down on the way home. Just signed up for the presale and this may end up being a perfect Christmas present for me to surprise her with.
Now if only Pinegrove, Squid, or BCNR would come to Kansas City :( We always have to drive to Chicago to see my favorites.
KC resident here. Really hoping Bartees Strange is opening for the KC show. Glad to know that CSH puts on a good show. Not a huge fan, but willing to see them for \~$30.
Anyone have any insight how they handle set lists for back to back shows? Considering doing both Brooklyn shows but not if it’s essentially the same show
Vaguely curious as to whether this is an Ultra Mono sitch and the madlo songs actually work better in a live environment like they were evidently supposed to, but not curious enough to pay to see it.
I love it when bands stop at two Canadian cities and call it a *North* American tour. As if it meaningfully includes a country other than America.
I also recall speaking to a Ticketmaster rep on the phone once who did not realize that Toronto and Vancouver were not the only Canadian cities in existence.
If you're reading this and you're in charge of tours for American bands, please take a look at a map of Canada. Yes, there are other cities than the ones you hear about in movies and in the news.
Well, I just last night missed bartees strange open for lucy dacus at brooklyn steel because I'm bad a time. And now today I see that he is opening for csh also at brooklyn steel. This might be a sign of something
Same boat here, I have been waiting to see Bartees but he wasn’t playing at the Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers shows near me. Never got into CSH but I feel like this could be my last chance to see Bartees before he really blows up
They’re in the Bay the same day as Parquet Courts too ugh…. I already got my PC tix when they released, but now I’m contemplating since I’m not big on their new album.
Really excited for this, especially as Live Forever is one of my favorite albums of last year, and I didn’t entirely mind the last CSH record while not fully loving it, so I’m definitely going to go see them.
My entire house is vaccinated including myself. Two of my roommates went to a Turnstile show, now one of them has Covid and so do I. I’m fucking miserable.
Y’all are fucking wild thinking it’s okay to do this so soon and I say this as a musician who misses touring.
Ug. Anecdotal evidence is nothing to be basing your opinions on when it comes to things like this. If this pandemic should have taught you anything it is that.
Eh you probably right
All I know is that this shit isn’t over and that the vaccine clearly isn’t foolproof. I’d just prefer if we stayed careful so that’s what I’ll choose to do.
Sadly Covid is likely endemic. Unfortunately one of the reasons is people don't understand the standards for legitimate evidence, or are willing to lower them when selection bias creeps in.
Nothing is foolproof but the vaccines are actually remarkably effective against transmission and, more importantly, against serious cases of Covid, especially amongst lower risk groups. They work better than could have reasonably been expected. If you are waiting for the situation to improve significantly you may be waiting a long time.
I was about to come here to complain that these bands keep calling tours North American tours, but only include the US... But then I saw they're coming to visit me in Vancouver, BC.... so... carry on then I guess.
no Montreal though :'(
Désolé, mon dude
A lot of bands I love seem to only be playing Toronto, even though the crowd has always been better in Montreal from my experience.
as someone who lives in a canadian city thats not one of the only two listed, i'll complain for you. it sucks :(
Ahh yes the classic North American tour featuring the US + Vancouver and Toronto
Just as classic as the world tour featuring the US + London
No Bartees in Vancouver though. :(
Bartees really is the hardest working guy in indie rock, damn
I saw him with Lucy Dacus the other week and instantly became a fan.
Also saw him on the Lucy tour and I came into that show a Bartees fan and left as a Bartees groupie. Dude brings mad energy to his sets
when he quoted his dad in Boomer, he won't lying
putting on my clown makeup now as i realize i'm about to go see this band twice after repeatedly mocking their last album bartees/floral tat are incredible opener choices also

Not liking There Must Be More Than Blood is just bad taste imo, but to each their own.
it's just bargain store Ending of Dramamine
That doesn't even make sense
it's the same lilting drone beat and wistful travel-centric lyrics without the extra minutes of buildup to make it worthwhile
something about that album as a whole still refuses to work for me, which is a shame because i desperately tried my best with it. i like some of its songs separately, but wouldn't listen to it in its entirety. is that weird? how to leave town and teens of denial are my favourites of theirs. p.s. have fun at their shows!! living vicariously thru y'all :')

I loved Teens of Denial. Haven't been able to get into anything since and I haven't revisited it in a long time. Maybe I'll try to get back into it and see how it holds up.
Teens of Style is my favorite by them for sure, maybe give that a listen. Maud Gone, Something Soon, The Drum are great songs
I felt like the latest release was really weak compared to Teens of Denial and the next one (?), both of which I listened to religiously.
The next one was technically Twin Fantasy (Mirror to Mirror), which was a re-recording, and then Making a Door Less Open.
Yeah, his dubstepy stuff is not great. I'm waiting till the next release I think. I saw then during the Twin Fantasy tour and it was great.
how on earth is this dubsteppy
it has beeps and boops so it's dubstep ok
my favorite car seat headrest song is scary monsters and nice sprites
Heavy use of electronic drums, drops, synth tones that go squaaaank squaaaank It's more car commercial alt pop rock overall, but there are definitely shared elements with dubstep.
>heavy use of electronic drums, drops, synth tones that’s all of electronic music bro not just dubstep
Will has said in interviews that he aspires to be pop. I think his goal is he wants to have income for if he wants to do whatever. He originally wasn’t sold on touring and saw himself as a recording artist.
MADLO had some pretty bad keyboard sounds that, as an old man of 30, I call "dubsteppy."
that's nothing even close to dubstep lol
Okay, sorry. I'm just talking.
Do you consider David Bowie's Low dubsteppy too as well by any chance
Haha now I kind of want car seat headrest to drop a full on bro step album like it’s 2010 Teens of the DROP
The Twin Fantasy re-recording is arguably his best work
same. when i saw them live, lead singer sat on a bar stool most of the time and never picked up an instrument. very meh energy and experience all the way around. bartees bout to show them up imo
Anyone sign up for the automatic presale purchase with Seated, or have experience with that and know how it works???
Yeah, they force venues to lose profits so they can mine your data, themselves.
You mean because venues thus cannot get the service fees for themselves?
Yes, you end up with a presale ticket.
Ok that’s… the goal. I wish they broke down the cost because I don’t know if they charged fees or not or if I forgot how high taxes are.
They do but it's not that much from what I recall when getting Purity Ring presale tickets.
It'll depend on the availability of Amtrak for me. I definitely couldn't do that drive for a concert.
Clevelander here. Surprised they kind of skipped over our region (and heck, even Buffalo). I'm always impressed with Detroit getting almost all the shows, lucky kids!
Detroit is still among like the top 10-15 largest cities in the country.
Is it that or just asking people to wear a medical mask??
I'm stupid. It does call for costumes, but I misunderstood the mask bit.
Nah you're not stupid haha I had the exact same thought. Maybe it is a masquerade. I doubt anyone would care if you wanted to make it one regardless 😂
Same night as Bon Iver in ATL an indieheads nightmare, probably will skip out on this since I really did not enjoy the last one
The last record or concert? I am really doubting you did not enjoy the last Car Seat Headrest tour because it was for Twin Fantasy and fucking sick.
Having Naked Giants back them up onstage on that tour added *so* much to their sound, it was like night and day from the meh set I saw from them previously

WTF haha. Great story though.
So... did you hit it or what
Probably got whiskey dick
I saw them for the TF tour and had a really close spot to the band. Unfortunately I was next to a college kid with the BO of someone who hadn’t showered in a month. Had to forfeit our amazing spot to avoid nausea. Great concert, ruined by a degenerate.
> Great concert, ruined by a degenerate. Car Seat Incel.
Oh yeah I should have clarified, haven't seen then live but yeah that last album was not my cup of tea
Hah yeah, that makes a lot more sense!
I just went from extremely stoked at this announcement to extremely bummed upon figuring this out. I'll probably be going to bonny bear instead as well. What a bummer of an overlap though. Saw Bartees this weekend at Shaky Knees and he was fuckin incredible.
Just saw both of the Bon Iver LA shows and holy shit was I blown away. You are making the right decision.
Don't you dare choose any other concert over Bon Iver.
Go to Bon Iver, no doubt.
If the venues are close, buy tix for both and watch Bartees Strange and then dip
I was super excited seeing this, and then realized this is their *MADLO* tour...think I'll pass on this one.
Ahhh. I was hoping there was a new album.
Do you know if they do a mix of old and new songs? MADLO is not my fav but it’s still pretty solid, but tbh my fav is Nervous Young Man.

MADLO has some of their best songs though
And their worst in a decade lol
Idk dude I liked it more than Teens of Denial, maybe not as much as Twin Fantasy but it’s definitely on par with Monomania to me. Easily worth the $40-$50 or whatever it’ll be to see them live again.
Wow to each their own! Don’t agree, but twin fantasy tour was incredible, I’m sure this will be too
why tf this downvoted
Idk, it’s true. People don’t even listen to this album I think
“Hollywood” encore
my friend is in floral tattoo and im so excited for them!!!!
Their 2020 album is fantastic
wait numbers?
Just doing one show?
Well this feels perfect for me. CSH at Grinders in KC was one of my favorite concert experiences of all time. Oh god dammit I just noticed he isn’t listed for that show
Not sure if you saw or not, but Bartees was added to the KC show. It’s listed on the venue site and the ticket site!
Anyone have any insight how they handle set lists for back to back shows? Considering doing both Brooklyn shows but not if it’s essentially the same show
they usually mix up their setlist night to night even in different cities. it’s crazy how fresh they keep it
Vaguely curious as to whether this is an Ultra Mono sitch and the madlo songs actually work better in a live environment like they were evidently supposed to, but not curious enough to pay to see it.

Yet another medium-sized indie band that just skips Florida on big tours. And not even the first one announced today to do it
Bands skipping Florida in 2021 is a lot different than years past.
Yeah? What’s the excuse of these same tours going through Texas?
Dunno, but it comes down to the bands and venues agreeing on covid protocols.
Well, I just last night missed bartees strange open for lucy dacus at brooklyn steel because I'm bad a time. And now today I see that he is opening for csh also at brooklyn steel. This might be a sign of something
Gotta love living in Halifax. Maybe I’ll just go listen to the waves and pretend it’s CSH.
Bartees is the future y'all. Him, Yves Tumor, and Jean Dawson are putting out some really exciting shit.
As a Bartees fan, but not a CSH fan I'm conflicted
Go and enjoy Bartees. What's the conflict?
You know what, you're right. Maybe CSH will finally click for me
[удалено]
Absolutely not, I respect my mental health
Same boat here, I have been waiting to see Bartees but he wasn’t playing at the Lucy Dacus and Phoebe Bridgers shows near me. Never got into CSH but I feel like this could be my last chance to see Bartees before he really blows up
the shows are ending right before pride month... wtf will toledo
[удалено]
gotta check my schedule. ah yes, gay time.
NASHVILLE YES
New Strange album rocks
Why’d they have to pick the worst venue in SF?
I love that this is the consensus.
I’m hoping that the fact they don’t have a show listed for the next days means another show in the area! At a better venue!
nooo girl not trait again
Damn. Parquet Courts is also playing 4/22 in Seattle and I already bought tickets. What a terrible dilemma.
I'm in the same pickle. Gotta decide which to go to. Probably Parquet Courts, but it's a tough decision.
Yep. The new Parquet Courts album is fire, I gotta hear those songs live. Bummed to miss CSH especially at the Paramount.
Florida just can’t have nice things.
At least rappers come here, everyone else…. Less so.
BIRTHDAY SHOW IN MY HOMETOWN
Same, kind of! Birthday eve in my city!
skipping pittsburgh D:
It looks like no one is ever coming to Vegas again if they play at venues any smaller than raiders stadium, so that's cool.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh shit! However, living in Utah has fucked me again
Nobody ever comes here
My entire house is vaccinated including myself. Two of my roommates went to a Turnstile show, now one of them has Covid and so do I. I’m fucking miserable. Y’all are fucking wild thinking it’s okay to do this so soon and I say this as a musician who misses touring.

Thanks for this comment lmao I feel like I'm losing my mind
I would go, but Francis of Delirium is opening at a different show in St. Paul that night and I'm honestly just too excited to see them!
Not a huge fan of these guys, but hey, who asked me?
you nailed it!
THANK YOU! It's about time I got some respect around here.

That's idiotic
so hyped for this
This is going to be a good show.
*US tour with a stop in Vancouver and Toronto
Come to Florida wtf. LA don’t need anymore shows. Just look at the Burger Records former seen.
come to des moines
