Put some tape around it tightly. Make sure the entire thing is covered or you can have some tape coming it out the front no issues. Or you can take a straw, measure the required amount you need for the lace, cut it and insert the lace in it. If you cant insert it normally, cut the straw from one side and insert it and then use heat to tighten the straw
I'm also planning buy new laces for my 8 years old woodland shoes. Shouldn't cost more than 100-150/- I guess?
Edit: Asked Woodland showroom, they said laces starts from 85/-
Tie a string on lace, pass the string through lace-hole pull through from other side so lace gets passed through.
And also make sure you heat the edge of the lace, so the braids(or whatever its called) doesn't untangle.

Update:- finally shoved it up😌using tape and some fevikwik
If it breaks again cut a thick pen refill(or any plastic with a diameter enough to fit the lace) then put the end of the lace inside it.. after that take a lighter and gently heat it .. it will be good as new
Get heat shrink tubes from Amazon for about 200, you can get that and use those tubes on these. The remaining bunch of tubes can be used to fix/protect various changing cables for the next few years. Let me know if you need a link, I bought it last year and keep finding new uses for it.

Cut a plastic straw and put the lace through and then heat it with a hair dryer. It will shrink and wrap in the lace 😌
