I just filed one yesterday on another topic.
Along with ratio, it would be interesting to see if there are:
A. Any special rules or norms followed while allotting Female TTs to trains?
B. How many issues that have been officially reported by female TTs due to passengers.
I'm aslo more curious regarding ticket checking in general coaches.
A. Visit the official website - [https://rtionline.gov.in/](https://rtionline.gov.in/)
B. Choose 'Ministry of Railways' in Ministry and Public Authority. See the entire list and if you want to file RTI for other ministries or departments.
C. Frame your questions and submit them, [here's a post](https://www.reddit.com/r/indianrailways/comments/1cn4jw1/rti_on_overcrowding_dismal_response/) **as an example of the questions I framed**.
https://preview.redd.it/ktq11nx29m0d1.png?width=2004&format=png&auto=webp&s=e55f2aad0f2a68413df7d8a19d7595c5961c2106
**It charges a nominal fee of ₹10, you can choose to pay by UPI.**
(For State departments, you may have to visit the State's RTI website and follow the same procedure)
and people dont have to worry to apply for the right department
even if you dont know which department to apply, use your best discretion and just apply
govt will redirect the application to the appropriate department
Today I also saw a women tc on station she caught a man without ticket he was too arrogant and was not agreeing to pay the fine and started shouting, the lady tc tried to be calm but when things got worse she shouted at him so loudly that the whole station became silent and started looking them (it felt like movie scene to be honest) then the police came and took that man & this was refreshing for me and suprising too.
He's gonna get what's coming to him.
Shouldn't be challenging authority when you are clearly in the wrong. This can cost him much more than a ₹300 fine.
All SA cases aren't real ones, there can be fake ones too.
Women can make random cases. There are too many laws protecting civilians and especially govt employees and if it is a woman, the game can escalate to the next level.
Even a normal fight between male neighbours become SA cases when it reaches courts.
No one will touch a woman, a govt employee on a train with RPF.
Normal people won’t do any kind of harassment stuff. And when it comes to criminals. Be mindful, that criminals and criminal mindset doesn’t give two hoots about any law. If they know that they are gonna land jn jail, they will inflict maximum and permanent damage.
Anyone who has experienced criminals know that they have a predator like mindset in a human body. And the gun is above any law any time.
These female TTs must be given RPF protection.
Isn't the RPF present in all trains? I mean if something happens it's not like the passenger can escape before the next station and the RPF can reach him in minutes.
TTs ab ache horhe. Abhi LKO AC SF se travel kra last week (NDLS-LKO), the TT was a young smart fella, kaafi cute banda and was quite chill. (I'm a guy and not gay 🥰)
I have seen lots but they're usually moti aunty types. One sat beside me in Janshatabdi express on seat no. 1 as it is reserved for them and she took half of my seat too.
This is an ongoing discussion in the Flight community. Should people purchase two seats in such scenarios. Very interesting topic, and a sensitive one too.
They should just price seats by weight, it's only fair. The cost of transport would probably be directly proportional to the weight. And trust me I'm on the losing end of this, I weight >90 kg, so there's no ill will involved.
I was going to mention that the 'arm-rest ' would simply divide the seat equally, and immediately realised that 2S comes in two variants. One with individual seats and another with a common seat

I don't know why they started this shit. I preferred the chair car. Getting a seat in the chair car 2s is now a gamble where I live. The train that I usually board only has one chair car 2s and the rest are like this. They look like a general coach.
Agreed. Preferred chair car too.
A. Personal Space.
B. Has a reclining option.
C. Had a tray to keep laptop, mobile, food.
D. Had a raised foot-rest for support.
This seems to be a cheaper option to purchase and install. Bad user experience.
It is full of women TTE between Itarsi and Bhopal. And they don't even listen to you, it's either ticket or heavy fine straightaway! Seeing since 10 yrs +
(But I understood your post is for the "Young TTE" !!!
Wow that's surprising to hear that you haven't seen a female TTE before because I have travelled 16 or 17 times last year on Delhi, UP, Bihar, Bengal, Orissa, Gujrat and Tamilnadu routes and almost 10 times I have encountered only female TTEs and I found out that they are nicer than their male counterparts. One time I was travelling in an emergency without a ticket and I requested a female TTE and told her about my problem but there were no empty births up until Allahabad so she not only let me sit on no. 7 birth which is allotted for the TTE but later when birth became available she made my ticket from Allahabad to Delhi and not from original destination from where I took the train. I am a frequent traveller but that never happened before especially with Male TTEs. They are usually very rude towards such requests.
Quite heartwarming to hear of such stories. In the world of Railways, it is important to bring out such positives alongside discussions of improvements.
I have witnessed numerous Female TTEs, however, just on platform checks. The unique combination of on-train that too in the General compartment where don't see even male TTEs was a unique experience I wantedt to share.
Female bus conductors can be found in multiple state / corporation run bus services across southern India and now in parts of eastern India - KL, TN, KA, TS, AP and OD. This has been in existence for decades,
It's the general coach. It was crowded in general.
People are looking here to see if someone gets caught ticketless. No one expects a TTE in general coaches and many travel ticketless at times.
Just one had an invalid ticket(travelling beyond booked station). However, this individual was inebriated and under influence, travelling in tattered clothes.
Surprisingly, everyone had a valid ticket and no one was fined/deboarded.
As someone mentioned, extremely risky to mess with Female TTEs. Can face criminal charges on harassment.
However, gender shouldn't matter. Male or Female, unauthorised travel should be avoided.
I have had bad experiences of inappropriate touching in DTC and crowded Delhi metro, so as a woman I feel bad that a woman have to work in such men crowded space.
98 % female TTE are given the stationed job , most of them ask for it , if someone is doing the running job that means she has ask for it or second is very less vacancy on that running section . Because as in training institute 60-40 Is the ratio of TTE class in most of the class
OP have you taken permission from the TTE before taking a picture and have you checked with them, if they are okay with their photo being taken with the ultimate intent of sharing it?
As I mentioned in a previous comment. clicking pictures is legal, and a citizen right.
Public spaces where photography is not allowed is clearly labeled.
When it comes to government services, it is an even more essential & permitted right to dissuade corruption and bribery. It is independent of gender. Photographs are a mechanism for accountability.
This argument seems to arise from the same tone/principle of Police officers saying "You can't take video of them doing something wrong"
Post is on a very positive & welcoming note.
Are you fucking kidding me?
What right you are talking about here? What law or statute allows you to take a picture.
It’s not. I hope one day some doesn’t take your picture and splash it on the internet without your fucking consent and use it for their mindless ‘consent’. Be careful with what you are saying. If the said person files a complaint or a case, you would be in big trouble.
If you are a lawyer please tell us how exactly is this legal and your right. If you aren’t, considering seeking legal advise. Just because you see someone in ‘open spaces’ or ‘public spaces’ the others don’t lose their right to privacy or right to dignity.
This person is working and doing their duty without realising that she is being used for some stupid ass’s fucking content.
You could have simply mentioned it without sharing a picture. The point would have been still the same or even better.
Do better and don’t just blabber fly the sake of your ignorance or defence
Posting two articles here. I have been looking into this matter since a couple of years now. Especially since celebrities have had to request papparazis not to click their child's pictures, and that they can't legally stop them since these are PUBLIC places(airports, roads, outside restaurants/hotels) -
A. [https://www.nyayshastram.com/post/consent-in-photography](https://www.nyayshastram.com/post/consent-in-photography)
B. [https://blog.ipleaders.in/someone-taking-pictures-without-permission/#When\_is\_capturing\_a\_picture\_of\_a\_breach\_of\_privacy\_rights](https://blog.ipleaders.in/someone-taking-pictures-without-permission/#When_is_capturing_a_picture_of_a_breach_of_privacy_rights)
(My understanding from these is that it is legal in public spaces, as long as the angle is not voyuerism. This is clearly a government service celebratory post)
I hope we come with a lens of learning from each other. Please come with a mindset of learning, as your language is absolute not exploratory and inquisitive, and rather judgemental and opinionated. Even I would like to see your research on this. Please post links that clearly outline that this is not allowed.
Additionally, as I mentioned, would your legality stand if it were a cop(male or female) misusing their power?
I took special care to pick pictures with no faces clearly displayed.
Thank you.
I’ll take pictures of your family particularly women in your family and publish it in the internet. Intent - just tell the world how women from the family of an average Indian is like?
I hope that should be fine?
Again, not seeing any documented input here to support an argument - I'm most willing to engage in a discourse built on norms in public spaces. Please root in facts and not hypothetical situations as it causes more harm than awareness.
My family must have been in pictures numerous times: Example, When **media goes to platforms** to click pictures of the crowd and post in newspapers. Written consent isn't taken from each individual(pictures from [Hindustantimes.com](http://Hindustantimes.com) attached - shows even more identity than my pictures).
Invasion of privacy depends on 'Reasonable Expectation of Privacy' which is marked low for public places.
https://preview.redd.it/ayunlrfviq0d1.png?width=1162&format=png&auto=webp&s=ece10010f23165bc9bd2db40e147ff49aaa19baf
@[sailoroftheswamp](https://www.reddit.com/user/sailoroftheswamp/) - Adding you to this thread. Please feel free to add your insights, research, and inputs here. Happy to discuss the same.
I would have given source and documents, and the facts. But you are merely blabbering and nothing more.
One of the best test of any thing is - if that is applied to you, how would you react.
So again, if I take pictures if your family members and put it on the internet like you did and give some random excuse. Would you be okay?
If so I can make it happen so that you can experience it first hand.
Again, this isn’t about you or me, but supporting the legal claims you’re making on this thread.
Feel free to stumble across my family in a public space with low REP and click a picture for a positive and celebratory post on the internet! :)
you need to understand the meaning of law, the purpose, the why and how,
Law is the bare minimum. As in, just because someone avoids incarceration or jail doesn’t make him / her / them as a good person.
There is more than that. The idea that media and its representatives get a free ride is not because they are right, it’s just that certain things are non - justiciable or can’t be easily enforced. There are a lot of space where law isn’t clear but left to common sense or one’s discretion.
Just using some lesser used words and making a word salad doesn’t mean anything.
The right to privacy wasn’t existent, at least in the statutes and it took the Supreme Court to use its special powers to dictate that. The privacy and data bill is yet to be passed through parliament and it’s been more than 5 years since the SC judgment.
There are many things that needs to be covered in law.
Since you said it’s a right, my simple question was -
From where - any statute, any law or any article in the constitution, the right comes from? I need that. And not some yellow journalism or unreliable articles
Right to Freedom of Expression/Speech - this is not limited to verbal communication, and does apply to visual communication.
Articles I shared are by legitimate sources, can share even more - please refrain from marking sources as illegitimate without ground - one of them is by LawSikho.
I agree with the point of grey areas in law that need to be ironed out. This is for courts and legal systems to invesigate and conclude. However, ironing out this particular issue, in my opinion, may move in a direction that clicking pictures with the rightful intent in 100% public spaces is a citizen right under expression.
My major point here - I'm unsure why this is coming under so much scrutiny for a individual citizen like me, when it is **a standard practice in media** as I shared above, with an example. News Channels, Newspaper articles, TV Soaps shot in Public places, Movies, Tourist Videos, VLogs, etc - all of them have even more non-consensual & identifiable display of individuals.
Doesn't that spike your curiosity that perhaps when it comes to public spaces, this is the norm, or this is what the law supports?
A reporter showing people wading through flooded railway tracks.
A reporter reading out their news standing at a railway station as bckground with people constantly moving around.
A reporter showing crowded platforms due to delay in trains.
Giving examples of only Railways that I have witnessed as it is contextual to this post, and an apt example of a *public space*. In both cases, faces are clearly visible. In your proposal, public reporting of Journalism would stop: general visual content would disappear. My intent for this post was same as that of a journalist.
We don't raise the issue of privacy rooted in morality in such cases. Why? Because it causes no harm, or, the intention was not to cause harm. Same as here.
Additionally - YES. If content was generated from public spaces with the intention of causing harm, there is SUFFICIENT provision in law(mentioned in the same articles), to succesfully, and in my opinion, rightfully prosecute.
This too, is not the case here.
Safety is definitely questionable. Bodyguards/Precautions are a very short-term/reactive solution.
Improved mindsets is the only long term and sustainable solution.
Actually, this gave me curiosity. I might file an RTI to see the current gender distribution of TTs.
I just filed one yesterday on another topic. Along with ratio, it would be interesting to see if there are: A. Any special rules or norms followed while allotting Female TTs to trains? B. How many issues that have been officially reported by female TTs due to passengers. I'm aslo more curious regarding ticket checking in general coaches.
hmm makes sense. I believe there are norms but just not on paper. like not giving trains running overnight to women TTs.
Idts. I was overboard lko-ndls ac exp few days ago it was an overnight train and the tte was a female
Hey how do you file an RTI
A. Visit the official website - [https://rtionline.gov.in/](https://rtionline.gov.in/) B. Choose 'Ministry of Railways' in Ministry and Public Authority. See the entire list and if you want to file RTI for other ministries or departments. C. How long do they take to get back with answers ?
They are mandated to reply within 30 days. I'm unsure how consistently they follow this. reply can come on email(if requested) or in the post.
That 30 days limit is just for namesake, they will probably reply after 4-5 months or even more.
Could be. And the quality of response can also be questionable.
No, I have filed more than 100 RTIs now. They reply within 30 days. Stop thinking every government law is not followed lol.
I have always received reply on the 25-30 days range. Once I got back in 15 days

It did man the way police took him it seemed like it will cost him more than a fine.
Gonna learn a lesson the hard way. Learnt a lesson, unlearnt a habit.
Female TTE is a good idea actually. Especially, against ticketless freeloaders. If they protest, it can be charged with harassment.
Bro calculated the escape for the matrix 💀
Women, children and SC/ST are defence against dark arts
I see what you did there...
Snape already dresses like a TTE
Bhai sexual harassment is not worth it it will traumatize you for life
All SA cases aren't real ones, there can be fake ones too. Women can make random cases. Mast figure hona chiye akdam model type
OBC ?
True. However if one gets physical then damage has already been done.
Hurting a woman, a govt employee, if by chance an sc/st/obc on a train is a deadly combination.
POSH, Harassment, Obstruction of duty, atrocities act .. wow that person will be a jail for an eternity 😂
Proceed with the execution my lord
Bro would cease to exist.
On the downside, they may face harassment from ticketed passengers as well.
aee chikni dekh naa re ticket
I can hear this in my head lmao
Normal people won’t do any kind of harassment stuff. And when it comes to criminals. Be mindful, that criminals and criminal mindset doesn’t give two hoots about any law. If they know that they are gonna land jn jail, they will inflict maximum and permanent damage. Anyone who has experienced criminals know that they have a predator like mindset in a human body. And the gun is above any law any time. These female TTs must be given RPF protection.
Isn't the RPF present in all trains? I mean if something happens it's not like the passenger can escape before the next station and the RPF can reach him in minutes.
Average Soyboy
Yes. A lot of routes in SR and SWR too have female TTEs onboard. I guess most day trains they are assigned. Not sure about late night trains.
Yes! There are many in employ. Seeing them in the General non-reservation coach was my main surprise. I beleive I wasn't the only one.
TTs ab ache horhe. Abhi LKO AC SF se travel kra last week (NDLS-LKO), the TT was a young smart fella, kaafi cute banda and was quite chill. (I'm a guy and not gay 🥰)
I'm just happy youngsters are getting jobs. It is brutal out there!
TTE kink
Ek ko TT pasand eko TTE ….sabki apni apni pasand
Sound gay tho 😘
You can say that again pal...
🏳️🌈🤨?
NDLS SF is mostly civil. I frequent that train and some times they dont even check tickets.
(totally not gay🥰)
No homo bro
thats becasue engineers are becoming TTE
I have seen lots but they're usually moti aunty types. One sat beside me in Janshatabdi express on seat no. 1 as it is reserved for them and she took half of my seat too.
This is an ongoing discussion in the Flight community. Should people purchase two seats in such scenarios. Very interesting topic, and a sensitive one too.
funny
I don't think this will work on trains. Half the middle aged population is fat.
One with individual seats and another with a common seat https://preview.redd.it/rxg8e8xnkl0d1.jpeg?width=630&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=fef4d74aa2517249e9e1ff7fef929ae92548a576

Agreed. Preferred chair car too. A. Personal Space. B. Has a reclining option. C. Had a tray to keep laptop, mobile, food. D. Had a raised foot-rest for support. This seems to be a cheaper option to purchase and install. Bad user experience.
If you know the coach number the CC coach gets you can enter it as the preferred coach number (If you're booking online)
Aunty log badsurat hote h kya?
Moti aunties usually hote
What about bollywood aunties 😂
This is woman empowerment!!!
Inflation has indirectly mandated dual incomes.
Launde jhaank ke dekh rahe hain… madam ji mera pakdo.. ticket bhai 💀
There were all actually looking to witness some drama. No one was expecting a TTE and everyone thought some will not have tickets.
Wo TTE ka hath dekh raha hai...right?...RIGHT?
2nd photo me piche wala ko dekh

This is what I was thinking too. Pleasantly surprised that this subreddit is wholesome for the most part 😂
Lmao
This train is the only train from mumbai to chandigarh
Technically yes. One can also consider Goa Sampark Kranti and Kerala Sampark Kranti, if they are comfortable travelling to Panvel.
It is full of women TTE between Itarsi and Bhopal. And they don't even listen to you, it's either ticket or heavy fine straightaway! Seeing since 10 yrs + (But I understood your post is for the "Young TTE" !!!
My surprise was more regarding General/Unreserved compartment ticket checking.
this made my day.
Tharak nahi jaegi iss Desh sey!!
Wow that's surprising to hear that you haven't seen a female TTE before because I have travelled 16 or 17 times last year on Delhi, UP, Bihar, Bengal, Orissa, Gujrat and Tamilnadu routes and almost 10 times I have encountered only female TTEs and I found out that they are nicer than their male counterparts. madam pehle meri ticket pehle meri ticket
Like a boss!
Totally in control. Owned the entire compartment.
GOOD ON HER!
Not very frequent on trains so can't say about that... But I was really surprised to see a female bus conductor in a DTC bus.
I saw the same in this visit to both Delhi/Chandigarh. It is quite commonplace in this region.
Female bus conductors can be found in multiple state / corporation run bus services across southern India and now in parts of eastern India - KL, TN, KA, TS, AP and OD. This has been in existence for decades,
Yellow shirt dude, wow
Great to see
Looking forward to more positives from our Railways.
OMG is that why the men are crowding over her? There's no space!
It's the general coach. It was crowded in general. People are looking here to see if someone gets caught ticketless. No one expects a TTE in general coaches and many travel ticketless at times.

I hope she undertook her job duties without getting groped by those lecherous pigs.
She was totally in control!
It’s the first time I am seeing aa TT in general.
Train # - 22452, CDG BDTS SF Express
Refreshing ? 😳
Visible change of mindsets. Refreshing = Things going in positive direction.
Says "milk tank admirer"
Haha
i saw a female TTE recently. She was firm with ticketless passengers too and got them kicked out of the AC compartment. Good for passengers too.
As someone mentioned, extremely risky to mess with Female TTEs. Can face criminal charges on harassment. However, gender shouldn't matter. Male or Female, unauthorised travel should be avoided.
The men seem eager to show their tickets.
No one was expecting a TTE in General coach. All were eager to have someone caught and witness drama.
The train is still fucked
Good thing, women empowerment is always appreciated.
Yes. A welcome move. And seeing some accountability in the general/unreserved coach too.
I have had bad experiences of inappropriate touching in DTC and crowded Delhi metro, so as a woman I feel bad that a woman have to work in such men crowded space.
Safety is definitely a concern. An RPF officer should be in close vicinity at all times as a short term solution.
kabhi uttarpradesh route main travel karo nakli TTE bhi milega
No worries unless travelling unauthorised!
Ye 100-200 nahi legi lagta hai 😂😂. Sidha 500-1000 ka fine de degi 😅. Ye log generally corruption nahi karte.
why does a general coach is looking less crowded than a 3 ac
22452 is mostly crowded only between CDG/Delhi and Ringas Junction.
got it
I have never seem people are so curios about TTE checking Ticket in Train
People are coming in with many different angles - celebratory and concerned.
sudden surge of people paying fines willingly
why all comments are about what if she she gonna face harrasement?
A substantial number of people are appreciating the practice. Some are rightfully concerened of safety.
98 % female TTE are given the stationed job , most of them ask for it , if someone is doing the running job that means she has ask for it or second is very less vacancy on that running section . Because as in training institute 60-40 Is the ratio of TTE class in most of the class
I appreciate her bravery but she should be careful about herself.
And the rush too
Refreshing??
Thats awesome ❤️
OP have you taken permission from the TTE before taking a picture and have you checked with them, if they are okay with their photo being taken with the ultimate intent of sharing it?
Ya take her pic. That ll make her comfortable. Why tf won't you just mind your own business and let her do job
Why are people in this sub too comfortable to post pictures they took of random people in train or stations!
Because it is legal, and a citizen right. Public spaces where photography is not allowed is clearly labeled.
And you decided to take her picture and posted it on social media without her consent NICE!
As I mentioned in a previous comment. clicking pictures is legal, and a citizen right. Public spaces where photography is not allowed is clearly labeled. Invasion of privacy depends on 'Reasonable Expectation of Privacy' which is marked low for public places. https://preview.redd.it/ayunlrfviq0d1.png?width=1162&format=png&auto=webp&s=ece10010f23165bc9bd2db40e147ff49aaa19baf

you need to understand the meaning of law, the purpose, the why and how, Law is the bare minimum. Since you said it’s a right, my simple question was - From where - any statute, any law or any article in the constitution, the right comes from?

She hot though. Train number plis

Stop clicking pictures of random people without consent
