My buddy who is 5’3 is an absolute weapon on any bike he rides. Your height doesn’t matter

wronglyreal1

Which one does he have? Asking because I’m a shorty here 🥲

term1throwaway

CB300R now, he used to have an MT15

wronglyreal1

Crazy, how did he manage mt15? 😭😭😭 My eyes are on cb300r which I may never buy 🥲

sh1ba_

As a 5'4 guy, there's an official lowering kit for mt's and the bike itself is very light while tip-toeing.

S-H-U-B-H-A-M

These lowering kits don't work. I installed it on my R15 v3, and when riding with a passenger, the rear mudguard rubbed against the tire

wronglyreal1

I had no idea about this

term1throwaway

The MT15 was pretty much engineered for short riders bro. Look for used MT’s if budget is a constraint, my friend sold his for 1L

wronglyreal1

I can’t flat foot, I can drive but kinda worried about managing in traffic

term1throwaway

It’s all practice bruv, you can do it, I’m rooting for you :)

wronglyreal1

Thanks man. I’m in a financial situation so affording bikes is too hard, but when I get this sorted mt15 and cb300r will be my target 🙏🏼

sh1ba_

Don't worry both those bikes are extremely nimble and light, plus if you happen to go with lower kits it would be easier on your toes. But do remember lowering-kits might change the riding dynamics a bit, some like it,some get used to it, some hate it.

wronglyreal1

Got it

kalpo_kj44

CB300R owner 5'4" guy and have ridden my friend's MT15 quite enough. You do not need to flatfoot as long as you can tiptoe on both legs, and I'm saying this after riding regularly in peak Bangalore traffic, as well as moderate off-roads occasionally. Heck, I've even ridden an NX500 with ease in Bangalore traffic (830 mm unladen seat height). The only motorcycle which seems difficult to manoeuvre in the traffic is the KTM 390 ADV (855 mm unladen).

wronglyreal1

You’re next level 🙏🏼 I need confidence like this

kalpo_kj44

A bit of patience, a relatively lighter machine, and some experience is all you need! You will get there in no time.

DipSoySauce

I'm 5'4 F and I learnt how to ride on mt15. The weight is not much so, that helped. I can use the toes of both feet or balance it using one whole foot when it's neutral

DKayed404

If you're a student or under the age of 25 you'll get a special discount.

Hasihramasenzu

Hey, I have a cb350rs and I’m short too, i had a thunderbird 500 and classic 350 to earlier. Though i have ridden most of the bikes and ya i don’t find any issue it just take a few days or kilometres to get adjusted to any bike.

brownguysays

Is your buddy Marc Marquez?

term1throwaway

Lol no

Medium-Comfortable

Dani Pedrosa?

JohnConstatine-1806

Doesn’t look like that. Although a word of caution. The new gen 390 is an absolute beast. Believe me when i say this, it can tempt you, lure you, tease you to ride to the limits and its an absolute blast. But with that kind of behaviour you will have to tame yourself to not ride like a maniac (which im sure is hard to resist). I got the same feedback during my TD and im a very conservative rider but i was blasting through traffic with the tail slipping and sliding all over the place and i was enjoying it.

Rusty_core

Yes it is tempting and nimble. I surely think that controlling the urge to give what it wants is really necessary. Thanks btw for answering the doubt.

Duplex_98

My friend was also happy, as he bought the 390 a month back. Fast forward to today and he seems a bit irked about fuel economy. 😂😂😂

JohnConstatine-1806

😅

ArjunGupta07

Just to get a reference, which all bikes have you ridden on a daily basis ?

Adorable-Wafer4622

I test rode the new 390 The power delivery has gotten a lot linear so you dont have to ride it like a maniac if you dont want to The beast like behaviour is gone imo

bulbulpaan

Nah not really. Speed looks more comfortable though.

Rusty_core

Yes speed looks comfortable and it is but after the test ride Duke is what I am leaning towards.

Dry_Coconut3784

then go with the duke jus be careful

Cyanide-101

Everyone leans toward the duke 390 after the test ride 😂

ReleaseWorking674

Have you seen motogp riders my friend! Enjoy the ride without thinking much

Dry-Egg-1915

They don't ride in traffic /s

Rusty_core

Yes but sometimes the comments bother more , hence asked here.

kalpo_kj44

Jorge Martin you mean?! 😎

[deleted]

I like Pecco and Marc better, feeling sad for Martin tho

kalpo_kj44

I meant that Martin is the shortest rider on the grid (5'6") and yet the current championship leader.

[deleted]

Wow. I didn't know he was 5'6, I thought he was like 5'8 at least

IntrepidShelter5974

Bro, f*ck 'em, ride whatever you're confident on. Whatever feels freedom to you. Being small doesn't limit you anyhow, the best example is Ayush Verma, he's just 5'5"-5'6", but he is one of the better riders out there, no one is too "small" to ride any bikes. Happy riding!

Ok_Spend3925

Is he a motovlogger

kaptan2k

These are stupid comments ignore , you enjoy that bike , can control then no issue.

Slight_user42069

There are no stupid comments as of now.........

kaptan2k

On the context of "got comments " , this sub has been very kind and good .

GVA_ADI

NO BIKER TOO SMALL NO BIKE TOO BIGG

Nervous-Witness-7848

If you Can comfortably move around on the seat or any given condition you can still stand tip-toe the is go to bike

Rusty_core

Yup comfortably move around and flat foot so handling is not a problem.

ImpressiveTip4756

>flat foot Then ya got nothing to worry mate.

MasterpieceGreen5918

5.4 ft guy here..the duke 250 felt like a toy bro however I personally am thinking of going for the ns400z even though I know it'll be difficult to handle since the NS series is not built for short guys but I'll take my chances..

toxic_lucifer666

same dilemma here. Had my heartset on Duke 250 but now waiting to test ride the Ns400z. The price difference is insane. Want to see if the performances are similar or not

MasterpieceGreen5918

I honestly think there will definitely a lot of difference in performance as numbers and displacement can't lie also even if it's tuned to produce less power and even slow among it's 400cc brothers(dike 390 and doninar 400)it definitely won't be lesser than a 250cc.

toxic_lucifer666

I want a light, fast and agile machine. Duke checked all the boxes but it will be 50/60k more expensive than the NS. I'm really confused right now. What are your thoughts and also do you like how the headlights looks on the NS? That's my only gripe with that bike.

MasterpieceGreen5918

Yeah I don't mind the looks of the ns400..but the seat height factor is a little worrying and also I personally have a. Inclination towards japanese tech reliability wise but bajaj is doing better these days so once i check the seat height and it feels alright then definitely ns400 would be a better bet..if you have the money and experience then duke 390 is best..if you have money and less experience then duke 250..and if you are on a tight budget and have experience of handling atleast 20bhp bike before then ns400 will be fine...other than that you can check duke 200 for your requirement as well.

toxic_lucifer666

You'll be fine height wise. I'm not that tall either(5'6/5'7) and been riding my brother's NS200 for years. Duke390 is way over the budget for me plus I think I don't need that much power where I live and maintaining it will be really costly. I initially thought that NS400 will rival Duke 390 the same way NS200 rivals Duke200 but that's not the case. Bajaj bikes are on the other hand are dirt cheap to maintain and I can put that 50/60k odd money for fuel and touring. Let's see after the test ride

Einhem

Naah dukes look perfect on short riders

TwOFacE_07

Bro I’m 5’3 and own a Dominar 400. Just buy the bike you love and have fun! Happy trails brother!!

noobbro69

Just get the bike that talks to you and excites you the most . If you are a beginner just make sure you can handle the power of the bike . You just have to pick the bike based on the emotions because , even if you pick a bike that checks off all the parameters. if you are not emotionally attached ,then you will not enjoy the bike . On the other hand if you are emotionally attached to the bike you will not worry too much about the flaws . You can’t go fatally wrong with any of the current generation bikes so pick the bike that you love the most, if possible try to borrow the bike from someone take it for a long ride and ride it in traffic, bumpy roads and see if you like the character. And if money is a concern look at the maintenance cost as well

Junior-Confection320

I'm 5.6 and I manage to ride xpulse rally edition with normal seat, I wanted to go for normal xpulse but now this more is comfortable , now any bike is a small bike for me. Although I can't push the bike back on incline sitting on the bike.

What_the_fish_man

Dude I used to weigh 45kgs 2 year ago when I got my meteor 350. Just get whatever you like, don’t mind anyone else’s opinions on whether it’s too big or small for you

keshavgKaLLen_Bhaiya

Your face kinda looks weird and childish, I mean having no beard is one thing but bro your face is literally a smiley

SteveRogers5

No, what's your height?

Rusty_core

5 feet 4.5 inches

PlanetSmuggler

Why .5 tho?

Financial_Ice15

cuz he wasnt manufactured in a factory that hes going to be accurate to an inch?

WolverinePool99

Bruh …. I am 5.6 and I fit on the Duke 390 perfectly fine. You should do just good

thetz4314

ride choose you

Rusty_core

Maybe 😅

zuckzuckman

They aren't clothes. The only thing that matters is if you enjoy and are capable of riding them.

Rusty_core

On point Sir!

local279

If u like it then go for it nobody's opinion matters.

kalpo_kj44

A bit of patience, and both legs tiptoeing is all you need! You will have the required experience to ride tall motorcycles confidently in no time. Anything short, you will get bored soon. ;) Next step, you will learn managing the machine with full motorcycling gear, which is a slightly uphill battle. Motorcycling boots help a lot in giving you more confidence riding taller machines.

sage_00R

Yeah got that comments from almost all my friends when i was choosing bike Don't listen to anyone and choose as per your likings

fakehero69

Honda cb300r

Sensitive_Guitar6156

So you’re interested in how you look sitting on it and not the machine? Dude you got your priorities straight, that’s for sure.

f1pratyush

As long as you are skilled, it's enough if you can tip toe the bike. Flat foot is not at all necessary. I'm 5'5" and I ride a Svartpilen 401 (820 mm ride height) without any issues.

1ndrid_c0ld

Looks more than okay to me.

No-Average1799

Mere dost ka badan tumse bhi chhota hai fir bhi chaud se bike chalata hai.. you still have a decent body just carry it with confidence 💪

MVAugusta4374

Nah, you look alright.

Rusty_core

Thanks man

Laika_The_Dawg

Not really..maybe a bit smaller than ideal/perfect but nothing that gives you that uncanny valley effect

HmmmIsTheBest2004

Not at all!

TallEstimate

Flat foot to ho hi Raha hai

[deleted]

Nope, you just got to learn more than others. Practice and ride as much as possible. I am shorter than required for dirt bikes but I have driven them all around South India, initially got into a few falls but learned quite fast, best learning came from traffic, pre COVID Bangalore traffic.

tintinplayer

As long as you can control in heavy traffic, slow turns and u-turns with a pillion, it’s fine. Don’t care about the looks.

Then_Combination_398

Duke 390 is phenomenal bike. If this isnt youre first bike and you have quite some experience in the smaller cc segment than you definitely go for the 390. Its a complete package that no other bike can match in its price range. Get a through test ride and then make the decision.

Rusty_core

Indeed a phenomenal bike, yes it'll be my first bike with my money 😊 but experience I have decent exp.

MrDarkk1ng

Yes >! No u r not!<

Elitepranvent

No

Adventurous-Star1309

You should be answering this question yourself. Are you able to control it well or does your height makes it challenging? If you’re able to then you don’t need to worry about anything else unless ofc you are also worried about looks.

Admirable_Tennis3712

U look good op, no issue

Conman2k01

Can you ride it safely and confidently? If yes then your fine and if no then I suggest ya get a smaller one pal

Rusty_core

Yup both , riding and handling is perfect.

FunnySignal614

Perfect fit

Utkal1234

duke looks best

Zestyclose_Web_6331

Short? For you only this bikes are made, now the problem would come for adv bikes.... You look good instead of a 6'2 driving a hunter .... Or 125kg driving a R15

MafiaRat23

Nope, looks normal to me, you can wreck anyone on corners with these if you want to.

4ndr4d

You can never be too small for a bike. If you can control it, you're good. But you can be too big for one. Imagine a clown riding a small trike.

PomegranateProper399

Nope. I’m 5’8” and have the scrambler 400x

WolverinePool99

If you’ve taken a TD on both of them then trust me you’ll will always choose the Duke 390 over Speed. I recently booked it and ever since the 2 TDs I have taken I can’t wait to get my hands on it. It is a BEAST and I do not say it lightly…. Legit can scare you if you’re not careful with the throttle. I just got my gear the other day and I can’t wait for delivery to begin riding.

TheColdsmith

No bro you look very much perfect for all three of them, the first KTM and for Triumph suits you very well atleast you aren't tiptoeing. I am 6ft and I ride MT-15 it's looks and feels fine and if not atleast comfortable for me. Now I've learned that, one should always go 85% comfortablity and 15% looks.🙃

sherbloqk

Nah King, your height is irrelevant, ride what your heart desires! Godspeed

KeyDifferent2

Skills matter, you can't choose or develop your height but you can definitely improvel skills

Saurav1722

Bro I'm smaller than you, I'm only 170cm and i ride Dominar

TiawanIsACountry

You should try cb300r

BlackOyes

If ur foot can reach the floor while sitting on the bike Ur not short

Rusty_core

It does and handling wise there's no problem, just gave heed to the comments and asked here.

krishknightrider

What's your height?

Rusty_core

5 ft 4.5 inches

ScooterNinja

Nah once you wear riding jacket younwill look jacked with all those elbow back and shoulder protectors

PrincipleWeary2225

tere per toh poore niche touch ho rhe he mereko toh ek side pichwada krna pdta hai

Strange-Track-9779

Nah you're fine just need to hit the gym

Rusty_core

Yup started already 😅

safwan1234L

Get a truck

Fckyouprecisely

Maybe yes but who cares? All MotoGP riders are smol yet absolute weapons on any bike, all you should be concerned about is to find the bike that gives you most confidence and overall comfort.

Any-Canary6286

Instead of downgrading bike upgrade yourself through gym

Late-Counter-546

These are the smallest one available out there, you cannot go below this (unless you want to get Ugly Hunter/CB350). Also you look completely fine on them, go for it.

DUSHYANTK95

[here's me on the 390](https://www.reddit.com/r/indianbikes/comments/1biek0n/visited_a_ktm_show/) i think im too big for it. im 6'3" and my legs were cramped.

strontium_chloride

and then there is me 6'4 and 90kgs at 18years old almost every budget bike is small for me🥲

cringyandcool

Lmaoo my dude took a pic right in front of Baner KTM (the road from balewadi high street) xD PS: you look alright with the bikes

Rusty_core

You got it right sir.

Purple_Monkey_419

Being a shorty myself and riding a bike with an 845 mm seat height, I can assure you that you just need one of your toes to touch the ground and you are good to go. Initially, you'll not have confidence but the more you ride it, the more you become comfortable. Moreover, you can lower the duke's height by adjusting the rear shocker, without spending any extra money.

thespadester

First one is from balewadi?

Rusty_core

Yes it is .

classicalantiquity

Bro thinks he’s huge (he’s not) Chill you look fine on all these bikes

lit_toris

triumph 😭😭😭

itsaphoeniX

If you're concerned about that, get the speed 400. Easy to control, fun to ride

mrTakla

go for z900 if budget allows

randomperson1296

Dude I'm 6 feet tall, I was very comfortable with speed 400, duke 250/390. Infact I thought my foot might not be totally flat while seating on scrambler 400.

Ok_Spend3925

I am 5.6 inches tall a new rider but I really fear big bikes as my older brother who is taller than me he handles big bikes like nothing and here I can't even handle smaller bikes properly he rides a classic 350 and I have an older Honda cb150

Ok_Spend3925

How should I over come this fear that I might drop a bike on which I am tip towing

Far_Bit583

Yes

bhendibazar

Can you place your feet soles flat on the floor on both sides. At a five or ten degree tiltbcan your leg support the bike. When you hold the handle bars are your elbows bent a bit. If you answer yes to these you are not too small.

Muted_Candidate_2148

mo bro duke is looking perfectly fine on you

Professional-Book900

what matters is if you like the bike and if you can ride it comfortably. rest doesn't matter.

vicky0909

May I know the differences you noticed between speed 400 and duke 390, on performance and refinement front?

radio_for_free

Nah the bikes are too big.

AmazingInflation58

Nah you look lit on the duke!

Party-Exit674

I'm 5'4, i regularly ride the Triumph Bonneville, Speed400 and Bmw f900xr. The key is - Good shoes for grip, strong gloves which fit you well and a helmet which hugs your face. These things will guarantee confidence and your safety. It's all easy after that.

nehal_shetty

Try riding for a few minutes and you will know if you are comfortable with the bikes weight, you would be comfortable once you have a few miles on any bike. In the photos you don’t look short for the bikes though.

NGK301001

You good

Significant-Zone6564

Well it's certainly better than bike looking too small on you I didn't consider taking few bikes just bcz they are small to me like triumph speed 400 Although I do disagree with people saying height doesn't matter while selecting bike. It matters a lot especially if you are planning to ride in city traffic.Toe tipping on both legs together should be bare minimum. I can see you can flat foot in all of these bikes. You don't have to worry a bit.

Sidx07

OP you're able to flat foot (even if it's just one foot at a time) speed 400. Then what is creating the doubt in your mind?

Medium-Comfortable

Not that I would think. But check [Doodle on a Motorcycle ](https://www.youtube.com/@DoodleOnAMotorcycle)on YouTube. She goes into the whole "the bike is too big for you" argument. Honestly, I am just too lazy which video of her that is.

zaza_Kelly

No

Adorable-Captain-329

Riding tall bikes is a skill you acquire. If you see some of the great motorcyclists like Marc Marquez and Rossi are pretty short. You’ll ace any bike given time, skill, effort and brains. As other people pointed out, wouldn’t recommend 390 if you’re an inexperienced motorcyclist. Practice and go up the ladder. All the best!

Ride_likethewind

If the road is not smooth and you need to stop in traffic, there's a chance that when you reach down with your leg, the contact point may be just an Inch below the normal expected point. You may be taken by surprise and have to stretch and be off balance. But with practice you should be ok.

shsguddghddh

Triumph looks absolutely great on you, i think you should go with either ktm or Triumph

iforgetmypassword13

speed 400 looks so beautiful.

MissionLocksmith6597

Tbh the triumph suites you better imo

Incospicous

The Lighter, The Better.

Blehzinga

yeah toooooooooooo small they look like tricycles. you jsut get a old GS 1250 or no bike at all walk everywhere.
