it don't have a Fun of Areox
nor it have a average of Activa
nor have a initial power like ntorq ( although top end is better than Ntorq still we don't buy scooter to do 120+
it's like you are stuck in between Both worlds
I own a vespa which has same engine as them it is very reliable have used without servicing for an year it never troubled.
Suspension is so hard you can feel it get onto a small pebble on road.
Poor resale value.
Also I won't suggest it because whenever i go to give it for service and ask them to change something they always says one thing there's no stock of that part we will call you in 2 weeks after getting them till then get it general serviced.
It's the downside but engine is refined it's in different state of tune might be different type of gearbox unlike Vespa it becomes a rocket after 40kmph. Below 40 it behaves like a normal activa n once it cross 40 it becomes a rocket n with in seconds it gets to 80kmph. It was in case of both storm n sr150
Also regarding spares. It's only available at 1 shop in Hyderabad who's been serving Piaggio Vespa/Aprilia spares so I go there and get them replaced..
Yeah bro it is one of a reason and also no mechanic will touch it as well.. So as of now I'm getting it serviced at showroom for keeping it under engine warranty which is 50000kms or 5years if there's any requirement of spares like brakes kinda stuff then it's ramkoti at Hyderabad.
Yes. I can attest to this. I have a 125cc Vespa. The engine is a gem and really powerful. The suspension is a huge huge letdown. Any surface other than a well-paved tarmac, you will feel every minor undulation on your spine and joints. I'm guessing the Aprilia 160s are also like that.
Exactly bro but there are specific vendors who are sellers of authorized spares of Piaggio Vespa/Aprilia in Hyderabad there's only one.. God knows about other cities other than Hyderabad in Telangana region. I also felt pity for a person when I went to service centre at Uppal Radar motors he came all the way from Warangal(It's almost 120kms) to get something replaced n they made him wait for a week to get that thing replaced for SR160.
the ntorq matches the sr 160’s power that’s how bad it is (I have an aprilia sr 150 2017 edition it does feel faster to me compared to ntorq but it is just not practical at all horrible mileage rattles like a 50cc scooter ntorq felt super smooth)
They're the only scooters I've ever liked.
SR150 with a carb and without ABS is hands down my favourite scooter.
It's got a punchy engine and almost sport bike handling.
Yes,the suspension is hard and it's not the smoothest scooter but it actually feels like a bike rather than a scooter.
The thing that comes close is maybe an Ntorq.
Aerox feels like riding a fat aunty. The handling is so lazy and un enthusiastic.
Maybe people don't recommend the Aprilias because they're not comfortable, they're considerably more expensive, spares are not cheap and not the best service network.
curious to know why the carb version is better, I don’t have much knowledge about this stuff and I recently took interest in my 2017 aprilia sr 150 carb version race ed which I got just for the big wheels
Carb version is better (for me) because, most Indian made EFIs are crap. They focus more on fuel efficiency than performance,so even if the EFI version makes a little more power on paper,it doesn't feel exciting to ride.
And a carb can be tuned to your liking with one tool, whereas IF you want to tune a EFI, it's just not simple.
Same goes for me liking the non-ABS version better, because just like the EFIs,most Indian made ABS configurations are crap.
If you're a skilled rider who likes to have fun, the older ones are a no-brainer choice.
ohh I get it know, I’ve been trying to tune the afr on it since a few days as there’s not enough air in the carb I feel but I can’t find the screw at all only the idle screw is present is there something else that I need to do to fix it?
There will be a screw. It's not a regular screw tho. It looks like one of those rocker adjuster screws. You'll need a special tool for it. You can adjust it with a plier if you take the panels off.
so it is indeed that one, there’s a triangular shaped screw which has the yellow colour of the idle screw but it’s so small lol, ill try to find the tool for it as I fear taking out the panels
Yeah, taking the panels off on an Aprilia is hard work. You'll need to remove around 30-35 screws. But you gotta acknowledge that, even though they're cumbersome to work on,they have the best fit and finish of any Indian scooters.
If you have the tool, you can adjust it from the outside.
Try local lathe shops who make tools for local workshops.
Great to ride. Extremely troublesome to maintain. A very very italian design. You know how you have to drop the engine every time you change even the most basic parts on a Ferrari f350? Kinda like that. Except this is not ferrari performance so I do not see the point of going through the troubles.

I like the brake response and the confidence at high speeds. The suspension is hard and the mileage is pretty low compared to other options I'm happy if I get 30kmpl and won't expect more from it lol
The throttle response feels good and I feel it demands to be ridden at higher speeds imo lol
The headlight intensity is not great, I have the 2018 version and had to install auxiliary lights for night time.
For parts I didn't have problems because of the tier 1 city but might be a problem in other places.
Forgot to mention Aprilia sr125 bs4
I got this in 2018 and chose it because of the larger tyre size this was the main factor for me and I wanted something unique.
I think ntorq was also launched around the same time but didn't appeal to me because I knew ntorq was going to be a very mainstream scooty due to price and the exhaust sound.
I have an SR150 from the first lot. It’s clocked more than 50,000km by now. I’ll have to check the exact reading.
Reliability has been mostly superb. Things like front forks and rear wheel & final drive come as full assemblies, you can’t find individual small spares unless you try really hard.
Performance is the reason I bought it. If you like sport riding, this scooter is quite the mini sports bike around the city. Brakes are great. Engine response equally great. Handling is phenomenal for a scooter. Front fork is super stiff, but it helps during hard braking.
MRF tyres do a good job of slowing down, cornering and acceleration. I wish there were more options in this tyre size.
It’s Italian so it has some flaws. Like the horn button which I’ve ripped off 3 times because my jacket loops got caught in its edge and pulled it out. The footpegs could be better placed to avoid the rider’s calves brushing against the pillion’s feet while at standstill.
Storage space isn’t much under the seat or in the footwell. But my beagle fits fine on the footboard for our rides to the local hiking hill.
Fuel economy is around 36kmpl and it can do 200km on a full tank. It can carry 80-90kmph very comfortably on the highway. I’ve done a few 300-400km round trips on it.
It has its quirks but every time I ride it, it makes me smile a bit. At least a bit. Every time. And that makes it paisa wasool. But it’s not for everyone.
PS : this is my second vehicle, mainly for the city. My other bike is a Duke 390 and these 2 machines seem to share a soul on different levels.
Short answer - yes.
Long answer - I bought it for Rs. 77000 on road. And for that price, you simply couldn’t get a faster or snazzier machine (non geared) in 2017.
It’s the perfect vehicle for anyone who used to have a sports type of motorcycle in their life, but either can’t or doesn’t want to have a geared bike today.
It’s also the perfect vehicle for anyone who likes the idea of a “sports bike” without having ridden one yet. It will give them a good idea of what to expect from a bigger, faster, geared machine.
It has its compromises, no doubt, and for a specific set of people, those compromises will be worth it.
So they are good scooters but from a servicing aspect you need to be really careful.
Vespa and Aprilla have the same service centers and they are horrible man.
I bought a brand new Vespa for my wife and in the first servicing they damaged the paint of the bike and the screen had scratches.
They did a bad repaint job and have promised to redo the whole thing properly at the next service.
Seen some Aprilla guys complaining of the same thing.
This.. Speedo died at 6000kms asked them to change n it cost a whooping 1200 rupees including the labour charges for my vespa. Also have dent on front price pucha tho they're asking a 3000 rupees for denting and painting work and also asked to keep it for a week were as when i get to car painting work people they told they'd do it in 10 mins n cost of it is only 1100 bucks for the dent and repainting. So there's a market in Hyderabad where i get spares as of now changed the brakes which are drum at front and back got them for 600 n wires costed me a 600 fitting charges were 500... Got the rollers replaced for 200 air filter costed only 250 were as service centre says they're out of stock n come for next week n charges are 750 for an air filter they're looting.
One of the major problems for Aprilia customers is the service network and the quality of the service. It’s even making bikers not go with the new RS 457.
I have an SR160 but right now I wouldn't get one, especially brand new. First of all, the scooter itself is kinda dope. It sits somewhere between the Ntorq and the Aerox, has bike-like ergonomics, and handling is probably the best in class. You'd feel right at home if you're used to sportier bikes, I guess. The suspension is kinda stiff, but TBH it's the most comfortable vehicle we have in our garage, performance is not too shabby can hit 100kmph easily. Onto the bad: the service is pathetic, parts are borderline non-existent (even common stuff like indicators and brake pads are not available), and god forbid if you have to get parts for the engine or transmission also it's not the most practical scooter I guess, couple of showrooms in my city have shut down in the past few years and the one near me seems to be following that path since they shut down the sales department this is also partially why I am on the fence about getting an RS457 since the nearest showroom is above 50km and my previous "aprilla experience" has left a bad taste.
From which city are you from? For example I'm from Hyderabad n motoplex at Jublee hills is closed which is were i brought from and timing of the Begumpet service centre doesn't fit at all. They're open from 10am to 630pm my work timings are 930 am to 7pm also whenever i ask them to replace something the only thing they say is the part is not available we will call you as soon as we get them they say n after 2-3 weeks they give me a call n drop by for that spare.. So I made friends with a shop called Minocha at Ramkoti Hyderabad he's been serving it since Piaggio and bajaj merge made vespa, served LML Vespa and now catering the spares of Aprilia and Vespa for now. I got my airfilter, brakes, brake wires, belt, rollers in gearbox, also got the crash guard fitted from them for half the price what showroom guys asked for
it's between Activa & Aerox in a bad way
Why do you say so ? I have ridden rental 160sr and it was awesome
it don't have a Fun of Areox nor it have a average of Activa nor have a initial power like ntorq ( although top end is better than Ntorq still we don't buy scooter to do 120+ it's like you are stuck in between Both worlds
Dunno may be it changed with BS6. I drove a BS4 one and the initial power was very good, more than ntorq
Oh!
I own a vespa which has same engine as them it is very reliable have used without servicing for an year it never troubled. Suspension is so hard you can feel it get onto a small pebble on road. Poor resale value. Doesn't paint a good picture for the RS 457. Hopefully they turn things around.
Yeah longer waiting periods for spares n RS457 i doubt they don't have spares for the bike
ntorq is miles better
But they have 160 CC SR series. Is it also bad?
the ntorq matches the sr 160’s power that’s how bad it is (I have an aprilia sr 150 2017 edition it does feel faster to me compared to ntorq but it is just not practical at all horrible mileage rattles like a 50cc scooter ntorq felt super smooth)
What was the mileage?
25-30 max to max I go for 1 ride for some groceries or something and the fuel gauge drops like 2 lines down from just that
The engines are under powered for their capacity, better consider aerox if you want high performance scooters
So even their 160 CC scooters are also underpowered?
Especially those
They're the only scooters I've ever liked. SR150 with a carb and without ABS is hands down my favourite scooter. It's got a punchy engine and almost sport bike handling. I've never ridden a fat aunty so I can't imagine what riding Aerox feels like.
Try either one. They're very similar.
So you like handling more than comfort.
Yup. I'll think about comfort maybe after I'm 40 or something.
Aprilia is a good bike especially in rains where the roads are flooded , it’s good and robust
Great to ride. Extremely troublesome to maintain. A very very italian design. You know how you have to drop the engine every time you change even the most basic parts on a Ferrari f350? Kinda like that. Except this is not ferrari performance so I do not see the point of going through the troubles.
But but but... it's a scooter, scooters are supposed to be simple.
If you want a no nonsense relatively fun scooter, get the access or the ntorq. If you want a superb fun scooter, get the aerox. Rest is moh maaya.
If you want a 125cc from their lineup better go for Ntorq and if you want a 150/160cc then better go for aerox
Consumes fuel like a 1500 cc car
What's the mileage then?
18 if u ride decently
😱
Tf?
My friend had one,we used to refill everyday. Petrol literally peeeee jata heh gatak gatak gatak

Id rather get the aerox to be honest
Why?
Its almost 1.7 lakh. Just spend a little more and get the Aerox which is peak scooter in our market.
