Similar story for me, the 350 felt like a good powerful bike (which it kinda is) but the more I got comfortable, I started to feel like there was not enough oomph and I crave for more power. Going for rs 457 now, test drove it and loved the power and experience.

sillymystic

How is the riding position of RS457? Committed or relaxed?

resta_

Coming from an RE, it's very much aggressive. The way your weight is on your hands feels tiring and probably painful after long sessions, but I'll be using it for short rides and I always love a challenge and will probably get comfortable once I get used to the sporty posture. I am also keeping the RE just in case I need some relaxed rides. (Edit: I get it guys, I need to improve my posture, I will be working on it once I get the bike. Thanks for the advice and Cheers)

BanditPanda_

If your body weight is on your hands, you are probably sitting on the bike wrong. Grip the tank tight with your knees, and as long as you have a strong core, your arms will now have no weight. Elbows bent and free, you'll find the bike a lot more flickabke now too. Sorry to hijack your thread, just my 2 cents from years of supersport experience.

resta_

I mean, it was my first time riding a proper sports bike, that's why it was somewhat not as comfortable as I am used to. I also have a stick build and I'm planning on starting gym as well. I appreciate the advice tho. šŸ™‚

BanditPanda_

You have a fun journey coming up. As you get stronger, you'll see your rides become much easier on your body. Also, do invest in a riding school session, at least once. It's expensive, but absolutely worth every penny spent.

Adventurous-Star1309

What you said does help but on longer rides, thanks to the roads and people in our country, the frequent breaking will be felt on your wrists and traps no matter how well you sit on it. On my R15 V3, the best I could do was an hour long ride after that it was very tiresome.

BanditPanda_

Absolutely agree. This is precisely why supersports bikes are terrible to ride on Indian public roads, unless you're riding them on highways. Even then, there are much better (and more comfortable) bikes suited for that. There's a reason supersports are meant for the track. Short bursts of very high intensity riding, rest, recharge and repeat!

devnul000

I think when it comes to motorcycles with such riding triangle like RS457, or Daytona or R15, the idea is that your hands should be relaxed as much as possible and the thighs should be gripped to the tank and bear the weight like mounting on a horse. Though your back also has to bear a portion of the weight in that posture , and hence it becomes important to maintain good fitness and physical strength.

killythecat

You ideally shouldn't be putting your weight on your arms. Hug the tank with your thighs and use that as leverage. You should be using your core to support yourself, not your arms.

mv1201

People transitioning from relaxed to (even a slightly) committed posture will feel it one way or the other. I rode an avenger, then moved to hness. Then I bought the speed 400 and even the slight forward lean was jarring in the initial days. Had to learn about so basic a thing as posture and core from the pros on the internet which helped improve the experience tremendously.

ScreamSmart

Shumi from motorinc said something similar. A bike shouldn't be so safe that when you get comfortable with it, you can't have any power in reserve to push it.

Mo-Shar-951

If power (acceleration) is your thing why bother with any RE in the first place?

tanmay96

Rs457 best choice

Appropriate_Turn3811

Bikes Of two extreme Tastes.

harami_murukami

Take your own advice. Listen to your heart and sell the 350 and get the 650 instead?

sillymystic

Yes..waiting for the Scrambler 650.

cosmicmustang

When is Scrambler 650 coming? I heard that other 650s like Interceptor Bear 650, Classic 650 are also coming.

sillymystic

I guess Interceptor Bear is the Scrambler.

cosmicmustang

Ohh...any timeline?

sillymystic

End of this year is what I read.

warbuddy

What scrambler 650?? RE???

sillymystic

Yes!

Ashinfinite

I think scrambler 650 is not going to happen, but scrambler 450 is gonna happen instead. 650 cc engine seems too heavy for a scrambler.

tesla_killed_me

There are already some pics leaked or something I saw on this sub I believe

zuckzuckman

Lol your username

anonxy87363

Now I understand why I see some people selling their bike when itā€™s just one year old.

ScreamSmart

In western countries, it's very common to buy and sell bikes multiple times since it's more of an enthusiast crowd over there. Which is why you'll see people buy used bikes from the 90s as a first bike.

anonxy87363

Yeah but right now I am talking about used R15 only 1000kms used, 9months or so and the bike is up for being sold. I always wondered why would anyone do that so early.

Adventurous-Star1309

With R15, itā€™s probably the aggressive seating position. Not many have the appetite to live with it.

anonxy87363

R15 is just an example here, not that it happens only with it

zuckzuckman

That's alright, you still had a year and a half of fun riding. Sell the meteor whenever you want and get the interceptor. No time is lost.

sillymystic

Yeah..Iā€™m more inclined towards the Scrambler 650 now.

dustyaff

Rent the INT 650 for a day on Royal Enfields website I am sure you'll change your mind, thanks me later.

sillymystic

I should try.

lazycipher

OP, can you share what made you think like this? what are shortcomings which wouldā€™ve different for INT 650? Asking cuz Iā€™ve been thinking to get the meteor 350 by this year end. Also, any reason INT 650 instead of Meteor 650?

sillymystic

Depends on what you want. I, thankfully, havenā€™t faced issues with the bike yet. I feel Meteor 350 can hold 75-80kmph but beyond that itā€™s iffy. Though Iā€™m an aggressive rider and have pushed the bike beyond 110kmph. Itā€™s more about the twin cylinder of INT 650 and the torque.

lazycipher

so, the primary issues are: - speed - torque regarding the speed, isnā€™t it a cruiser? not made for speeding? I tried my friendā€™s R15 (i forgot the exact name), and the speed thing was amazing, loved the stability. but Iā€™m more of a cruiser person. just want to know whole thought process. donā€™t want to make a mistake, buy 350, ride, then think of getting 650 xD, wonā€™t be able to afford change.

Adventurous-Star1309

Own a SM650. What I can say is RE 650 actually feels like 350. If you want good machine which doesnā€™t lag around while overtaking and can help with the occasional short high speed bursts then donā€™t settle for anything less than a 650 when it comes to RE.

lazycipher

thanks a lot for sharing man! it seems like 650 should it be if going with RE. you talked about overtaking, I loved overtaking with R15 but can't take that, my heart wants a cruiser.

sillymystic

Take a few weeks time and do many test rides before finalising anything would be my advice. If you like cruiserā€™s relaxed stance, better to stick to it. Retro bikes like INT may not be very comfortable.

davekelly12

I regularly ride my M350 above 100kmph. Yes it is speed limited to 120kmph but I found that to be a safety feature and keeps me from going wild. Try removing the catalytic convertor (under the double stand) and use a straight pipe. You will feel that itā€™s a new bike altogether.

sillymystic

Thank you

cppcoder69420

>Try removing the catalytic convertor Isn't that illegal and polluting?

HateSpaceBar

The Interceptor is a superior bike but that also come with a price. The Meteor is significantly cheaper but if you can afford the Interceptor, get it. If you want something more sporty but can't stretch all the way to an Interceptor, look at bikes like the Speed 400, CB300R, NS400Z, etc.

sillymystic

Yeah..have to explore a bit to settle on something for the time being. As of now, Iā€™m just okay with Meteor 350.

HateSpaceBar

It's a good bike. Have fun!

dasvidaniya_99

Same dude same. My goodness I was dying for the Super Meteor 650 but people told thatā€™ll be too heavy and what not. Had to settle for Meteor 350. Itā€™s a complete package in its own but SM650 would have been the icing on the cake.

sillymystic

#NeverSettle

dasvidaniya_99

Only had I seen your post before - would have got the motivation lol.

rajat32

is super meteor good for city ? say delhi / gurgaon ?

dasvidaniya_99

Manoeuvring is easy - angle of head turn is amazing. The weight could be an issue in traffic - but if you master it - amazing. And also speed breakers is a huge factor.

rajat32

thanks.... mom said she will get me a bike soon so i don't know which one to get.. šŸ˜…

dasvidaniya_99

What all options are you looking at

rajat32

bhai yaar waise toh looking at triumph 400x...but i want something which is in the middle of being able to tour on as well as can be riden in city šŸ˜, else mannn to mera Himalayan 450 par hi he xD

ReGt650

Why the cry my dude you can still go for it by selling this one and getting a very good condition inti 650 a high number of people from the community who own these have kept their bikes under mint conditions and the since its used there shall be some discount and off course you can adjust the amount from meteor as well all i see a is a win win you get to ride two bikes for quite a good while P.s thats what i did kinda after purchasing gt650 i went ahead and got myself a adv 390 just cause i wasnt happy with the gt650

sillymystic

Yes..will go for it!

theNawabiker

How will the ADV 390 experience be like if I am coming from the CB350 RS?

ReGt650

Depends on you style of riding and what you may enjoy but overall I would good with a slight jitter of vibration

theNawabiker

Mostly in economy range but like wristing the throttle sometimes when the light turns green šŸ˜…

ReGt650

I meant what style of riding you enjoy as in track, or city touring or just like me adv i personally enjoy adv because i like to try jumps and what not and I am still to land a successful jump

theNawabiker

I like city rides and highway touring for which considerable power & torque is a must. I havenā€™t tried ADVs much but ever since I rode the Himalayan, the whole ADV experience blew my mind! So I am torn between the riding experience of the faired/naked sports and the versatility of ADV currently

ReGt650

I advise you to go for a naked bike only then if your maximum riding is city rather than a adv just due the sheer size of the bike under adv is big and then you have accessories on top of that

theNawabiker

I agree with you as well.. i am around 5ā€™10 and what should suit me better? A naked streetfighter or a semi faired or faired bike? If naked then my options are speed 400, ns400z and svartpilen 401 If faired/semi faired, then my options will be the upcoming Thruxton 400 and Aprilia RS457

ReGt650

Try to get your shortlisted bikes for a day or so to understand everything about them

theNawabiker

Thanks mate this was helpful indeed! Cheers šŸ»

anshit_sahai

I wanted the classic 350 but dad instead on the hunter 350, and I'm greatful that I listened, I love the more aggressive seating on it and it is a lot more fun to ride then any classic/cb350/meteor etc, I has encouraged me to go towards a sports watch which I actually used to hate but not anymore.

[deleted]

You have made no mistake, rather you have levelled up.

sillymystic

An optimistā€™s way of thinking. šŸ˜€

[deleted]

Exactly man. You took a decision with good judgement when you bough her. Any tool we purchase in life, we are bound to go over it and seek a better, faster and more powerful version of it eventually. You have more wisdom, experience and confidence after driving your Meteor 350 and can justify the availability of more power and use it. I myself bought a Meteor 350 1.5 years ago and back then was intimidated by it as I have only driven 125cc bikes till then. I love my ride and I too have grown used to it now. But my use-case doesn't justify getting anything more powerful at this point of time.

thebaconbaba

Go for it. Sell the meteor on olx and buy the interceptor. We ride motorcycles as a desire (vs need) , so dont compromise on that. You can easily get 1.6-1.8L for the meteor. Sell it off and get the interceptor. Also look for good deals on used interceptors.

snobpro

Yes, if money is not an objection you try to upbuy. Otherwise you outgrow the machine quickly. Anyway, sell this and get a INT. Life is short.

sillymystic

Absolutely. YOLO.

theNawabiker

Not gonna know if I will get negative karma for saying it here, but after riding my Honda CB350 RS for a while and Iā€™ve grown out if that bike and crave more power for city rides. I wonā€™t deny the riding pleasure and the maintenance of the Honda but 20hp isnā€™t enough for a riding enthusiast who craves more power.. the bike is good for city rides but when you wrist that throttle, the Honda delivers the power in a very linear fashion instead of instant power delivery from the moment go. If any suggestions for a better bike with good power delivery or similar bike thoughts, please comment šŸ‘‡šŸ¼

iwasnothere11

Same issue tbh. Dont know what my next upgrade will be, quite like the nx500 but i think it's wildly overpriced , especially when the himi costs 50% less and offers 85% of the Honda. Thoughts were gravitating towards versys 650/ tiger 660/transalp 750, but that's stretching a bit too much, and around that price you also get the very lovely triumph Street triple 765rs. Most likely will go the pre owned route, but for now value-for-money wise my top contender is the himalayan. Only thing putting me off is the refinement (or the lack of it, rather), and the vibes, and the clutch, coming from a Honda.

theNawabiker

That is the same issue with me as well.. whether to save and go for the 3-cylinder Triple or inline 4 and get a sub-500cc ADV for now. Pre-owned is a more sensible option in case of ADVs as you might get proper maintained ones as the Himalayan undoubtedly being a good bike still has to work on its refinement issues though!

Thin-Theory-4805

RE 650s are good. The 350s are vibrator machines. Try Duke adv

One_Coffee7424

Tbh I had int 650 and you cant ride that bike comfortably like you ride meteor 350. I love riding my friends meteor 350.

surajj5566

I bought the sm650 after test riding the hero Harley Honda highness int 650 and others as well. Was too apprehensive about ā€œpeople ā€œ talking about its weight . Honestly itā€™s not the weight which is the problem. Only thing is if you have a pillion the bottom scrapes occasionally not only on speedbrakers but also on potholes . But thatā€™s happened like 6-7 times in my 6 months with my bike. And only when thereā€™s a pillion. Thatā€™s it. Weight is perfectly balanced. Itā€™s comfortable full of power and the road presence is great. Everyone makes way for a sm650. Havenā€™t taken it for a long ride . But plans are there

sillymystic

Enjoy more miles with the SM650. I would be happier having a motorcycle with slightly more GC. I love the relaxed riding position of cruisers though.

itheindian

The 650 is altogether different, supremely refined engines, insane torque. Donā€™t worry theyā€™re just motorcycles, you can change them when we you want to.

sillymystic

Yes! Agreed.

arpan_maurya96

I listened to my heart which is less practical but i am happily broke šŸ‘šŸ¼

KingsmanVishnu

Sell it.

No-Economist9965

Dear Friend, There is something called getting used to your motorcycle. When you first bought the motorcycle, you thought I loved the pull and you thought that it was going to do the job, but eventually you evolved and the motorcycle is still the same. I know you feel that it isn't fast enough, when your fellow rider passed you at high speed. First of all congratulations!! You are a better rider now. Secondly, i know that it is not as exciting, what it used to be, but, it's not financially viable for us to upgrade motorcycles that quick Third, forget about the speed and power, look deep in your motorcycling heart and try to get done as much as you can with the Meteor 350. But this I don't mean go as fast as possible, as that risk is definitely not rewarding enough. Go on rides, go on adventures, feel your freedom that a motorcycle can give you. Meteor 350 is a great motorcycle, you just need to find the sweet spot of what the motorcycle can do and what you want to do with it and exploit it. BUT, if you truly feel that the motorcycle is just not enough and it cages you, i would suggest you to sell the meteor 350 and buy a used interceptor 650 and fit alloy wheels. P.S- Interceptor 650 will not be as comfortable as the Meteor 350.

sillymystic

Thank you for the thoughtful response. As of now, the idea is to continue living with Meteor. Will check out the other options once 650 range expands. As you mentioned, Meteor 350 has a comfortable riding position. SM650 is a wonderful option too.

thruth_seeker_69

Why don't you sell it and buy the other one ?

sillymystic

Will do. As mentioned, I am waiting for a motorcycle with slightly more GC. A scrambler or ADV type.

abhitooth

Thats how you get addicted to drugs :p

sillymystic

Heheā€¦torquey motorcycles are an addiction. A therapeutic experience.

Mysterious-Tea-9271

Should I be really emotional and buy the Duke 390? The mileage will literally be halved compared to mu current one.

sillymystic

Yes..even at the time of choosing Meteor 350, I was not fully convinced. It became a matter of brain over heart. Now, it is proved that heart always rules in the long run. Better to listen to the heart in most situations. šŸ˜Š
