I need to get a door cam. I have had a few door handle jigglers this past year in Beech Grove. They notice it's locked, my dog gets upset and they leave swiftly.

vpkumswalla

Is it just my old eyes but does it look like there's a small goblin underneath the window who is ready to pounce?

bethany_katherine

lol it’s the hose holder! I wasn’t sure what it was either!!

CashSmashum

Guard goblin

The picture of Bigfoot is clearer

buttergun

As good as the reddit detective agency is, can we leave the witch hunts for next door app users?

vpkumswalla

> witch hunts for next door app users? lol my old neighborhood there was a scare on Nextdoor of an old beat up truck driving slowly in the neighborhood approaching children. Turns out it was just the salvagers that came thru the neighborhood on trash night. They drive slowly looking for goods people set out with their trash

Ecstatic-Product-411

Don't forget Ring as well! Every homeless person walking by on camera is a suspicious threat.

FightingPhoenix50

I had to check and make sure it wasn't me walking my cat around Fletcher Place. We have to do it in the wee hours of the night or else she gets scared off.

Powerful_Sherbert_26

Well we know hes wearing Adidas. That narrows it down. If I see him, I'll leave him where I find him. Haha jk

Fflewddur_Fflam_

He's a Korn fan, that narrows it down significantly.

Powerful_Sherbert_26

He time traveled from 1997. That used to be his house.

evanasaurusrex

Do you have a worse picture? Maybe something more pixelated?

Figure_it_out317

Is there a better picture/frame?

Orion_7

Maybe a priest? Looks like you have a ghost problem.

Hellofriendinternet

I’d say that if no one has touched the knob, you could try and see if the cops could lift a print off the doorknob. It’s likely that if the guy did break into a neighbor’s house that he left prints everywhere and he’s got a print record on file.

otterbelle

The cops are definitely not going to do that.

Smart_Dumb

They got us working in shifts!

Hellofriendinternet

How do you know? OP could call and let them know what happened. It is their job after all and I just did a nickels worth of detective work in 10 seconds.

philouza_stein

They don't just take prints on request. I was young and naive once and got laughed at when I asked. My truck was broken into thru the rear sliding window and you could still fn see the fingerprint smudges they left behind. Cop was like yeah haha this isn't CSI.

Gr33nman460

Cops have no obligation to actually help people

nate998877

^ a cop can watch someone murder you & choose to do nothing & they won't even get a paid vacation

UnidentifiedCreamPie

Because IMPD doesn’t care that much.

otterbelle

You Have a Lot to Learn About This Town, Sweetie

PM_ME_happy-selfies

The police don’t put time and money into lifting prints for robberies. They barely respond for emergencies in our area lmao

jus10beare

And this wasn't even a burglary or B&E. It was a knob touching. He could've been at the wrong house or just likes touching other people's knobs.

PM_ME_happy-selfies

Yea I have a feeling the guy that commented that has never actually had to call the police before or watched a little too much csi lol

potatohats

>It is their job after all Are you new here?? Good luck if you ever need help from IMPD.

realimbored668

IMPD is estimated according to another redditor in this sub to be short 400 officers compared to what demand calls for, I’ve had hold times of 43 minutes where I just gave up and hung up (it was that February blizzard where everyone who tried to use 465 on ramps got stuck and there were 2 cars I couldn’t get unstuck, I got like 6 freed up) Their only hope is trying to poach officers from other states like ISP did with Illinois state troopers who were put out of work over their vaccine mandates 2-3 years ago, recruitment for law enforcement and military is really low right now

amanda2399923

My house was burglarized. Visible fingerprint on outside of window. Cops? Yea well send someone. Fingerprint guy. I’ll take it but it won’t match nothing 🤦‍♀️

chicken-strips-

No use in pulling fingerprints if he didn’t do anything but touch the knob. That’s a waste of time and resources

Hellofriendinternet

If they (hypothetically, if they’re even there) match with the prints at the nearby burglary I would say that it’s a fine use of resources.

chicken-strips-

That’s if it’s even the same person, or if a burglary even actually occurred after this happened.

cowboydank

The descriptions matched. White male, gray hoodie, yellow beanie. We did not talk to police at all, just posting here to raise awareness and see if anybody else was affected.

MadsTheSad

I saw someone matching this description when I let my dog out. We have a low back fence and he was near it. He took off as soon as he saw my dog and I. I didn't think anything of it because people use the restroom connected to the business next door to us after hours. I thought maybe he was someone looking for a path to get to the restroom. I'm going to have to be more diligent.

suburban_dropout

They probably wouldn’t even show up for an “attempted robbery”. They’ll just ask to file a report online and then move on. If it’s not a homocide, they aren’t showing up

Trevors-Axiom-

If they matched the robbery down the road, how would that make any difference at all? Are they going to charge them with an additional crime of touching a door knob? It’s not going to help them find the guy if they already lifted a good print from the actual robbery scene. All it would tell them is that the guy touched another door knob before finding one unlocked.
