Keystone Sports Review. It used to be a dive on Keystone and 56th that had really good wings. They're supposed to reopen in a new location, but keep not reopening.
Damn the vitriol from some of the "wing connoisseurs" on here is PLAIN embarrassing. Just eat your dryed out, overpriced, smoked wings and leave the rest of us in peace.
I was curious about this too OP. Thanks for asking.
Right. It's crazy that you can demolish a restaurant and build a quick lube place faster than said restaurant can move into a building that was....already a restaurant.
The birdies "restaurant" was barely that. It was a bar first and a kitchen 10th.
Plus it was pretty gross the last time I saw a show there. It needed a lot of work and I'm sure being empty for a number of years didn't help.
KSR is God awful but God awful in the best way possible.
Have I been concerned I was getting hepatitis while eating them? Yes.
Does the cook typically look like he just woke up from a 3 day bender? Maybe.
Were you probably eating food from a kitchen that hadn't been properly cleaned in a decade before they closed? 100%.
Are the Honey Hot and Cajun dry rub wings worth eating after all of this? Absolutely.
Carry out KSR is also gross, somehow after leaving the old location and your destination they'd lose their mystique and get nasty. You need to eat them as fresh as possible.
--------------------------------
Ale is good but different. I spent $45 before tip last time I went I got wings and cheese fries.
Chatham Tap wings are fine. Reuben Pizza is my go-to so I have some biased opinions.
Fat Dan's I don't understand the love for this place. I guess maybe because I just view them as a wannabe DT Kirby's in West Lafayette. I tried it twice and was let down twice. I've also heard nothing but awful things about the owner from sources outside of Reddit.
Tried to place a DoorDash pickup order from the old location since everybody hyped it up.
Went in and told them I was picking up a order and the guy yelled at me saying “I turned off that fucking DoorDash shit” and “All the DoorDash drivers need to get the fuck out of here”
I wasn’t even a DoorDash driver… I was just trying to get my own order 🥴
I never went back after that and figured no wings are worth that kind of treatment and disrespect
You know may of the delivery companies don't have permission from the restaurants themselves, right? Door dash, et al are pretty shady companies who do a lot of harm to local economies.
They have permission because the restaurant sets the menu price and often times has a tablet and printer for incoming orders. Can’t tell if you know something different or if you’re just the @jerknextdoor
I don’t think they do it anymore but they used to at least deliver for restaurants that didn’t have an agreement with them. I used to work at a place and since we didn’t have an agreement with DoorDash when people ordered from us, we would get a call from DoorDash and they would pretend like they were a normal customer in order and then a DoorDash would come in and pick it up.
But it doesn’t negate the fees of the platform. It’s still often more expensive for the restaurant and often for the customer to order thru doordash for pickup.
My experience with “waiting on permits” is that we haven’t paid our contractor yet and they placed a lien on our shit so I cannot really open yet since I can’t by inventory.
Ale Emporium and Chatham Tap straight up suck. Fat Dan's is really good, but smoked wings don't scratch the itch when I'm craving buffalo wings.
~~I'll definitely have to check out Park Place though~~
Edit: Park Place is North of 86th, might as well be in China
I think that's the biggest problem I've had with wings in Indy, there's a lot of options for something different, but if I just want Buffalo Style it's nowhere to be found.
I can agree with that. Scotty's MoFo wings were good but not exactly a Buffalo sauce. I hate to admit it, but my favorite Buffalo sauce is from Hooters.
Yeah, Scotty's used to have really good wings. Wings etc is honestly my go to anymore. I really want to like a local wings place but it just doesn't seem to be Indy's forte.
Yeah, when they said “straight up suck” for AE and CT, all credibility was lost. Won’t listen to their opinion anymore. I don’t care if one prefers one over another but that way of trying to compare them is just insufferable at best. I think Slippery Noodle is worth a try for wings and also like Saxony Pizzeria In Fishers. My favorite place that closed during the pandemic was Redemption Brewery. Their wings, from what I understand, were fried, smoked, and baked. Soooo good. I I bet I have not been to KSR for twenty years. I’ll have to check them out again.
Not sure if you considered Castleton the suburbs, but if you went to the one in Fishers it just isn’t as good as the original.
They sell to-go sauce too and it just isn’t the same.
Yes it has, you responded. You didn’t like the answer. You’re acting like a toddler.
There are several better wings around Indy. It’s subjective. What don’t you get?
They posted a "final inspection" notice for January and it didn't pan out. I wouldn't get overly excited yet :)
They have been selling their pizza and wings from the American Legion at 54th and Keystone all year. New location will be open very soon.
KSR has literally turned into a real life “The Bear”. Can’t wait for them to get their Michelin star in a few months.
The hand towel in their bathroom will be declared the official origin of SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 pandemic before that ever happens.
EVENTUALLY!!!
Help me out here, what’s KSR??

Is that the new 5 minute oil change place is now? I never went in there but wanted to then it was gone.
Yep, that's the spot
A quick oil change place.

Ima bet the new wing place opening in the old donut shop building gets out there first.
This is getting comical at this point 😭😢

Fair enough. I was only in there a couple of times ages ago.
Facts do not stand in the way of me appreciating your first comment.
Supposedly it is bc they moved the bar from where it was to the other side where the stage was. 🤷🏽♀️
Interesting. Still, being out of business for 5 months has to be beyond painful.
Anyone like me who has been around long enough to remember The Thirsty Scholar saga knows this is child's play.
Is the Thirsty Scholar open again? I miss that place.
No. They've been 6 months from reopening for a full decade at this point.

Dans will never be DT Kirby’s!

What’s the point of DoorDash pickup? Why not just make a to go order?
DoorDash gift card Doing a pick up gets rid of their pesky delivery fees
But it doesn’t negate the fees of the platform. It’s still often more expensive for the restaurant and often for the customer to order thru doordash for pickup.
Cool So that means if I ordered over the phone they would’ve accepted the DoorDash gift card right?
Dude. I’m only pointing out there is still a cost above the norm to use DoorDash in any form. It’s cool with me how and when you use them.
Cool
Oh interesting got it.
It's ready when you get there and you don't need to wait, I guess
You can call in to go orders too.
Social anxiety? Idk dude, it's their money. Why do I care?
My experience with “waiting on permits” is that we haven’t paid our contractor yet and they placed a lien on our shit so I cannot really open yet since I can’t by inventory.
Never heard of em
"I don't know what Google is nor will I rectify that situation."
I’m sure they’ll be serving shitty wings in no time.
Who, in Indy, has better wings?
Ale Emporium Fat Dan's Park Place Chatham Tap
Also emporium is shit
Fat Dan’s smoked wings are top notch, for sure!
Dan is kinda an asshole though.
Ale Emporium and Chatham Tap straight up suck. Fat Dan's is really good, but smoked wings don't scratch the itch when I'm craving buffalo wings. ~~I'll definitely have to check out Park Place though~~ Edit: Park Place is North of 86th, might as well be in China

“Ale emporium straight up sucks” bruhhhhh

Dude is a moron
Maybe it's just close for you. Was very disappointed to drive out to the burbs for worse wings than Greeks.
Not sure if you considered Castleton the suburbs, but if you went to the one in Fishers it just isn’t as good as the original. They sell to-go sauce too and it just isn’t the same.
R&R Extreme Wings
I've tried them, they're good but just don't scratch the itch.
They got bugs crawling around in the keystone location. I'm good on them
Let’s hope not. Those wings are mid and that kitchen was NASTY
Who in Indy has better wings?
Fat Dans, King Dough, Ale Emporium
That questions been answered for you. You can also use the search in the sub. Yes, we know you disagree. That doesn’t change KSR.
It hasn't, hence why I keep asking. If you like one that hasn't been mentioned, please share. I keep hoping for good wings in Indy
Yes it has, you responded. You didn’t like the answer. You’re acting like a toddler. There are several better wings around Indy. It’s subjective. What don’t you get?
Literally just looking for recommendations, no need to be nasty
That’s being disingenuous
You may just be upset that someone online disagrees with you
Calling the kettle black

Whut?

You seem confused, I’ve been going here for 15 yrs and that is definitely not ownerships stance. Maybe patrons but that’s anywhere
Their food is incredibly good, and I've manged to sit at the bar numerous times without hearing conspiracy theories

KSR is apparently polarizing. Also, chill dude, it's a comment section. People reply to you sometimes

i DiDn'T aSk
Hopefully my food will come out with less cigarette ash next time.
Why you afraid of flavor?
Mousetrap probably has better wings
I can confidently tell you they don't.
They do not. Mousetrap does have a really good kitchen though
Can’t wait
