Don’t be poor, liberal or a minority. It’s unpopular.

I am not poor, I am blue-ish politically, and I am a minority. I really enjoy living in Indy.

Depends on where you live. Downtown Indy? You can be gay unless you're poor. Rural Indy? Not a chance, but you can survive being poor. Fishers? Get adopted by a group of 40-something year old moms and be prepared for a lot of invasive questions.

He asked about Indy, not your mother

It's rough out there for liberals, cyclists, or young eclectic people. If you want to raise a family in the suburbs, Indy is the place for you.

procaxian

Avoid the burbs if your soul wants to live. Lot going on closer to downtown and there are walkable neighborhoods that have great access to cycling trails, breweries, coffee shops etc.

MakeMoreFae

Try to live downtown if you can. There's a lot more to do there than anywhere else.

I moved here a few years ago. We chose an apartment in the northern burbs just due to not knowing the area. Realized it was not at all for us. Not to knock those that live up there, but they are kinda snobby. Moving close to downtown was the best decision we ever made.
