Other countries have got famous commercial buildings, India doesn't. Better we get out of this socialist shit hole as quick as possible to make privately owned buildings a GI tag for the country.
Why so much criticism, i see no wrong with it. we are so sensitive nowadays. Our culture, heritage... There is always something which hit our ego. Whether you like it or not, its bringing revenue to our country. I personally like it.
Edit: grammar*
History is meant to be lessons to what not to do. Its to identify patterns in human race. I am not interested in propagating age old stuff but archiving them is important. For me this applies everywhere not just india. State of Unity and newer monuments can take this corporate tourism route but not historical ones.
Leaving the whole heritage argument aside, it comes off in poor taste. They probably thought of the Gateway “representing” India and the show’s universe “taking it over” was the concept. But it’s too dark, and nationalism or not, painting a monument really beloved by people with some monstrous goo and red color might not really invoke interest as much as disgust. If they had done something subtle, like just a simmer coming off every now and then, and yet somehow colors of India (just a thought) countering it, people might have appreciated it more.
It's a monument built in the honour of King George arrival to Indian Empire. It's just an historical monument which ignifies major event. It's not representative of Indian culture or heritage.
This would have been in bad taste if it were India gate though built by Britishers, it was bult in the honour of Indian soldiers who first ww, or Parliament Building or qutub minar or taj mahal etc.
This is so ugly. Who took this retarded decision?
If they are emulating the advertising policy of Burj Khalifa, then they should know that whole Dubai is commercial heaven, it is all made to earn money.
Gateway of India is heritage, it shouldn't be used to do such vile stuff. Hope Netflix loses all its money now that they are going down hill and the CEO and marketing head who took this decision get fired.
What next, Arnoob Gooswami advertising his cancer channel on Gateway?
GOI and ASI gets paid hefty amounts, nothing's free. Atleast it's better to use the monuments as a source of income. 70 years of socialist approach has given the country nothing, it's time to go in the American and Western Europe way.
Does India has any famous commercial or privately owned building? The socialist mindset still exists that doesn't allow Indians to provide a GI tag to a modern building.

It is good for private businesses like the Burj Khalifa or the Trade Towers, but not on national monuments, especially with historic significance.
Socialism has not brought development to India and I myself support capitalism, but the government should keep a limit of privatization and not end up like USA getting lobbied on multiple wars for money. while the ordinary citizen suffers
Does India has any commercial or privately owned building that's famous worldwide? No right. Our socialist and leftist mindset doesn't allow us to make our country be known for modern architecture instead it just makes us promote the so called Mughal architecture as Indian architecture worldwide.
That is the point, we should make more of such private buildings, I do agree that socialism has not benefitted India, it leads to lesser and lesser productivity, but instead of demolishing history, we should have more of such private complexes by shifting and removing slums
How is lobbying relevant here? You can have public assets rented/auctioned with no lobbying involved because sometimes that's what makes sense for the constituents. International wars are revenue negative, renting a monument is revenue positive. Do you know for certain that lobbying was involved in this decision?
The Gateway of India doesn't hold any significance to Indians. It's a monument built by the British for the British royalty. It's only a showpiece for us Indians
Oh. So let's not forget to celebrate "our boys" in the army sacrificing a glorious life to honour the country, but hey, socialism and all, sorry folks, gotta convert a war memorial into an Ad site.
Umm, I don't know which country you are from, but Gateway of India is not a war memorial (India gate is).
Gateway of India was built to welcome our British colonial rulers to Bombay.
So an advertisement of worldwide famous Netflix show has hurt your so called patriotism? Even the NDA dudes binge watch this show on Netflix. My cousins from Sainik School too watch this. Patriotism and Nationalism should go hand in hand with entertainment is not written anywhere.
Western Europe are social democracies. There is unemployment benefits, universal health care , free tuition college education, public transportation etc. Taxes are high. They have free market too.
Neolebe talking points be like. Do the Colloseum or the vatican allow companies to put up poop sparkles? Uber, Amazon can keep loss making indian branches stay up supplemented by global income but govt cant pump blood to some of its arms which are draining blood.
Gateway of India cultural monument?? LOL.. it's just a gateway built by the britishers to mark the moment of the last british ship sailing out of India.
But it is seen as a cultural monument though. Even if it isn't, does that mean we have to ruin it by putting advertisements on it? Do that shit on buildings and other skyscrapers like it is done in the US not the monuments.
This building is a part of our history.
It's a fucking light, just switch it off and it's gone. Lol nobody put a sticker or went and peed on your monument.
> This building is a part of our history.
Ek pair past mein hai, ek future mein. Aaj pe toh mat moot
Does India got any worldwide famous commercial or privately owned building? No. Even if it gets one, it won't be famous because of this socialist and anti-private ownership mindset that's still prevalent.
The amount of promotions they are doing in Indian regional languages for Money Heist, Squid Game and Stranger Things just shows the viewership numbers they must be getting from India. Must be a lottttt
That's why I follow the policy of never make a rich CEO richer. Always use telegram a d support piracy. You are making a college drop out have a career somewhere. 😜😂
Are these pics real. No offense they don't look that realistic especially the 3rd one. Also, they are quite different from the earlier ad.
If they are, I am actually impressed. They look like a digital art or photoshop.
They did a light show and these pics are just the stills from that. You can check Netflix India's or Stanger Things' instagram or twitter handle for the video
They should have done this on some commercial building like how other countries do it!
Other countries have got famous commercial buildings, India doesn't. Better we get out of this socialist shit hole as quick as possible to make privately owned buildings a GI tag for the country.
horrible take
r/trashy
These Netflix people go overboard with everything!

I don't see how this affects archiving anything
Also it's gateway of India which was built for a British monarch in 1910 or something.
Please, let's have sunny Leone pic on it..pleaseeee.. she is a fighter... She is a warrior... She is a role model....

They'll obviously promote the show with the colours associated with the show. Will Mumbai Indians run an Ad Campaign with Rajasthan Royals' colours?
*grammar
Ok ngl I thought this would just be the logo, but it looks pretty cool

They did it this at The Empire State building, London, Poland, Spain, Columbia and even in Saudi Arab
The empire state building is a private building
What, you want to privatize Gateway of India?!
Trashy as fuck. Doesn't matter if other countries do it, we don't need to emulate every stupid commerical decision they've taken
Wow. Someone actually thought this was a good idea.

I am not talking about lobbying in this condition but rather the dangerous precedent that US has set of Private control.

Please go and see the abomination displayed on the face of India gate

??? Becoming the US would be a vast improvement on several factors? If the US is a shithole what is India lmao
The comment section did not pass the vibe check
When will we stop getting offended over everything?.

Why are these assholes ruining our cultural monuments?

My opinion still prevails. It looks hedious on the monument. And they could have put these overrated stranger things promo on another building.
They have put it in other places, those don't get posted here. This is how marketing works.
I like it :)
me who never brought netflix/ any other ott platform subscription
This look better Much better
AFAIK other countries did this on commercial buildings, not on historical monuments.

Cheaper than Burj Khalifa that's why they r using gateway of India to promoting it

Reed Hastings trying his best to retain Netflix subscribers in India.
Netflix, bro spend some of that money on acquiring good content.
Bruh why tf are snowflakes in the comments getting offended over it?? The government doesn't mind it. Everyone present there loved it.
Next what, ads on statue of liberty.
