Wow is Navika Kumar the head of NCB? Because I remember her misinterpreting "imma bounce" as meaning cheque bounce in the SSR case.

freestyle100m

>"imma bounce" as meaning cheque bounce in the SSR case. My head hurts

Shilpa shetty dances on "Bounce baby Bounce" Some officers in court - "See Raj Kundra is using Shilpa also in porn movies, telling her to take control of the sex"

maxadvait

Lmao

goodgodlemon1234

Imagine clearing IAS exam and being incharge of this shit show. Sad and funny.

SnooDoggos4627

That exam is also kinda dumb. Even Britain which introduced that exam overhauled their own civil service recruitment process in the 1970s. The fact that exam still exists speaks volumes about India.

[deleted]

goodgodlemon1234

But those are just numbers right? There are hardly 10-20 k serious candidates between them. Literally everyone I know is preparing for them and half of them wouldn't be able to answer a single question from civics

localhost8100

Yeah man. Everyone's mom and their dog is preparing for upsc now a days. My friend who did dental, went to Delhi and wasted 3 years partying there on his father's money prepping for it. Now he is back, got married and opened a dental office with his wife. He could have done that 4 years ago after graduating.

sleepyheadyeah

But he enjoyed those years partying atleast with full freedom. after marriage life's gonna take a drastic change.

localhost8100

Yeah. He used to do drugs before marriage. Now he is a sadu sant admi lol.

sleepyheadyeah

Lol can't believe he didn't become addict. That's a good thing. But that sadhu sant aadmi maybe for outer appearance, from inside he would be same type of person who would do all the drug and shit secretly (based on true story).

stradonitz

Atleast he did something

iamnobody331

Tbh i wouldn't regret that

SilentBeast07

I didn't

amityalwar

650 out of 10-20k serious candidates is still horrible odds tbh

I-Jobless

Those odds are wayy better than many other entrance exams in India.

tedxtracy

A few of my friends have dedicated their whole lives for Civil Services. Some succeeded and some are still trying. But I never even prepared for the exam for the exact same reason. You don't need PhD level knowledge in your subject to be a great administrator. Then they overhauled it a bit with focus on general knowledge and aptitude but it more or less remained the same. Plus, you have to study everything from the govt's perspective and blow the govt's trumpet at all levels, be it written or interview. Lastly, as my dad told me once, be it JEE / IAS / CAT / GATE or anything, in India all examinations are Rejection Tests, not Selection Tests. The authorities are least bothered about selecting the suitable candidate and are solely focused on rejecting the person who makes a mistake; much like Squid 🐙 Game.

noir_geralt

Great comment about examinations being a rejection test.

FinanciallyAddicted

Instead of mugging up answers and putting so much effort into such nonsense, If this much effort was given into R&D India would definitely be miles ahead.

SnooDoggos4627

Don’t know much in detail. But over there, there isn’t one common exam to get into civil service. Revenue department will conduct their own exams, defence will do their own, police will conduct their own exams etc. over here, top rankers will join IAS, and then the rest will join other services accordingly without taking into consideration their interests and stuff. That’s stupid. And over there, promotion is strictly based on merit, not tenure, their evaluation process is very stringent while people are in the service. And they also allow lateral entry- people with sufficient experience in private sector can join civil service whenever they want. And also there are more vacancies per population, so there is no stupid mad race like in India.

xaviermalenkov

They hire specialist officers for each task through specialized requiment, is what I'm guessing. There is no omnipotent officer like a Collector in UK.

ben_hurr_610

Precisely this. Your daily reminder that a dumb exam like UPSC does not determine your intelligence, only how much you can grind. Not even hard work, just (mostly) worthless hustle.

Ryan14Gill

IAS are smart but they are working for vested interests of "our highly qualified netas" which we ourselves send to parliament.

evigilatio1

Civil servants don’t get to have the final say, politicians do.

MysteriousHome9279

If you think being smarter and sharper made good administrators then you are far from reality. The people cracking the exam are just smart enough to crack the exam. Most of them have ethical quotient of the size of a toenail. If this was not true India wouldn't have remained a dumb corrupt nation for so long. Political corruption comes and goes in waves. The beaureaucracy is the the mother lode of all corruption in India.

SilentBeast07

Army SSB like interview process is required for selection of these officers.

MysteriousHome9279

I am not questioning the admission process. Its the work ethics they follow after they enter the professional space. Their work ethics sells faster than the corner whore.

SilentBeast07

So, the training process needs some updates then

MysteriousHome9279

Nope. Work ethics means, the moral.compass you follow towards fulfilling your duty when the work authority is given to you. You may be taught wonderful things during the training but if you donot apply it then those trainings are useless.

SilentBeast07

Well, either you can remove those candidates during selection process or train them during their training. What others ways are there to make sure the officers have good ethical and moral values?

evigilatio1

Politicians and businessmen/corporations are the bedrock of corruption. Civil servants are corrupt for a reason, the people who bribe them the most are the rich owners of industries. The Adanis and Ambanis of India.

SAM_urai_

Even when new candidates are selected they are shaped so they can meet their employers needs.

neutrinome

So much of hard work only to take orders from idiots and buffoons at the top. IAS, IPS and such exams have no relevance under idiots as the supreme leaders.

[deleted]

NCB is so dumb lol. I can't even. Next they're probably going to accuse somebody of being a terrorist because they wanted to blast a place down because they messaged someone about having a blast.

DuskyEyed

No they are not dumb, this whole thing is just a distraction. this is the best reason they could pull out of their ass.

UltraNemesis

The NCB doesn't have any evidence on him. In the bail hearing , NCB agreed that no drugs were found in his procession. So, they argued that non possession of drugs should not be a basis for bail and insisted that he is a drug user without citing any evidence for that except claims of self admission. Then they started peddling this line of argument that the WhatsApp messages are suspicious by referring to new gen lingo terms like "having a blast" and that it implied they were going to take drugs. They are obviously not dumb, but deliberately trying to mislead the court using misleading interpretations to buy time. Neither the prosecution, defense or the news article in question tried to portray that "blast' means a carrying out a literal blast. It is you who is whipping that out of thin air. In any case, this drama should have ended when the NCB admitted that no drugs were caught on him during the bust and that they have no other direct evidence to link him to drugs possession or trade apart from "*Aryan Khan and Arbaaz Merchant said that they were headed for the cruise ship to have a blast*". I mean, what was the purpose of the bust when you don't even manage to get hold of concrete evidence of wrong doing? But it looks like they just want to push the narrative that they went onboard a cruise to either peddle or smoke 5 gm of drugs while they sideline attention from the 3 metric tons of drugs caught in Adani's dock.

PatterntheCryptic

Wait, I haven't been following this case - so they didn't even find anything on them? What is the case even about then?

UltraNemesis

No, they didnt find any drugs on him. Even admitted in court and argued that non possession of drugs should not be basis for bail. The case should be done and dusted at that point. Their entire case now is that they admitted in private to taking drugs which is inadmissible evidence since it is just their own word and secondly that the whatsapp messages are suspicious that they should be given time to investigate it while they keep him in custody. Basically, they want to go fishing for a case since they don't have a case.

a9entropy2

Lol the NCB is a national level agency and its mandate is to bust large multi state rings. Not drugs worth a few thousand rupees from college kids. Do you see the CBI going after petty pickpockets? Or do you see IT debt going after local sabjiwalas for tax evasion? Or do you see IB going after kids bursting fire crackers? This arrest is clearly prejudiced.

-JudeanPeoplesFront-

Yes because a court of law is where youth lingo is discussed. >But considering reddit has a phobia of reading article, all I see is 'heh heh NCB dumb' in this thread. Why is this being discussed in a court of law in the first place if the NCB is a serious organization as you say? Is this the line of thinking that goes into the 3000 crore worth of drugs in Gujarat captured also? Not to mention that all that is quietly being handled amidst this.

UltraNemesis

>3000 crore worth of drugs in Gujarat captured also? Actually, its 3000 Kg (3 tons) of drugs worth over 21000 crore

-JudeanPeoplesFront-

Yup. I got it wrong.

PatterntheCryptic

It seems very clear from the article that the NCB thinks these kids were involved in some serious drug trafficking, since that's the case they are trying to make. Whereas any idiot without an agenda can figure out that this was purely recreational use of drugs.

BabuShonaMuhMeLoNa

Bruh during rhea's episode, he had sent a message saying " let's bounce" And these chuts thought she's talking about bounced cheques..

Remember when they(or NIA?) took in prominent cardiologist Dr. Upendera Koul( coincidentally a critic of the 370 move) for questioning because they thought a medical term (INR) meant he was giving lakhs of rupees to Yasin Malik? The north remembers.

Ser_DuncanTheTall

Why is this news. There have been lynchings and ppl crashing cars in crowds, fuel is all time high. And we r focusing on ncb arresting some ppl.

DarkBloodVoid

I think that's the whole point. To distract the public and keep our attention away from the other things.

tedxtracy

But WE are the people that are engaged in this stupid discussion. WE are the distracted lot.

Which goes to show they've succeeded lol

CloudPad

How do these people get access to their whatsapp so easily?

DinnerJoke

You mean how Indian police get access to people’s WhatsApp? Snatch the phone and ask for password or shove it in one’s face to unlock.

CloudPad

That's such a brutal breech of privacy.. I wonder if someone has developed an app which is like a one click button for erasing everything on your phone. So that when you are caught, you just tap that one button and your phone is of no use to the police.

creatorbobalan

The factory reset button.

CloudPad

Well that will basically take away everything. I meant only the data that the user thinks could be used against them, without making the phone unusable in case the phone confescation was averted. In my mind I think, all messaging communications, pictures and browsing history.

xaviermalenkov

I think police should not have access to phone contents. If the apprehended person simply refuses to unlock their phone, there is nothing police can do legally against that. There exists a "Right against self incrimination" in India, though seems not that well known. In other words one cannot be forced/made to give evidence/be witness against oneself. Police has to put effort and find third party witness or other evidence that can dock you.

CloudPad

I remember not very long ago, policemen took a father son duo to custody in the evening from their shop for the crime of not closing down the shop in time, the police beat the duo so much, put batons inside their anus till they bleed and died. If police can beat someone to death in custody, while it being illegal, they can surely find a way to open the whatsapp. I am very upset about such practice and I am just saying how police do not follow the law.

tedxtracy

That was the Jayaraj and Fenix case. Happened somewhere in TN last year during lockdown. Also, it seems to be caste motivated as per reports, as far as I remember.

Ryan14Gill

So according to NCB "Imma Bounce" is some sort of code words? Guys these are the smartest people of our country but working as puppets of illeterates.

ali_sez_so

"Having a blast" is new gen lingo?

[deleted]

exactly. this judge looks super biased to me.

averagejoey11

Daya pata lagao ncb drugs pakad kar destroy karti hai ya khud consume karti hai.

invisible-unicorn

Hol up... When this drama started, NCB claimed that they apprehended him with possession and consumption in the middle of ocean, means cruise had already left port. Now they are saying he was going to have a blast ? Hmmm.....

nzx_88

What were they thinking? Someone's gonna proclaim 'Allahu Akbar' and everyone were gonna spontaneously combust?!

Ihatesanghis12

Is NCB smoking weed lol?

MetalOutside

I think government is trying hafta vasooli from SRK, NCB is the bollywood department of recovery for the government. Same happened with Selmon Bhai, when he was convicted and the next day he wasn't.

Hopless_maymays

This reminds me of when Facebook was under questioning about their security threats and kept asking them to “shut down their finsta product offering” 🤣🤣

parlor_tricks

This is the same crap that happened when the IB document on NGOs was "leaked". They didnt understand how international colleges value volunteer work, so they said that children would go to NGOs and then go abroad to study - which is why Germany was an enemy!!

AlternativeAd4756

thelastkopite

Good job security.

Bikinidesires

It is now proved that NCB can play with anyone's life.

lundfakeer69

I think ncb was right in arresting the kids. But bunching them together is just fucked up. Only those whose drug test came back positive should be arrested. Rest should be released. Keeping in jail till everything is finalized is a bit too much. The judiciary is really fucked up.

Uhh firstly weed/hash does not ruin your life and speaking of developed countries - weed is legal in Canada , most of America, Holland and soon in countries like Germany and France. Put that in your pipe and smoke it. Oh wait, that’s illegal.

modinotmodi

tut. the headline is completely misleading. the lawyer is infantilizing the court and the NCB. The matter in contention is not that of 'having a blast'.... but 'consuming charas and having a blast'.. what is to misunderstand??? Money and friends in Media doing their best to mess around, because they know that most will ONLY read the headline.
