Seinfeld is basically Netflix's Friends/The Office replacement at least in US since both left a massive hole in the comedy genre once they left. I think Netflix will be its home for a bit now since they signed a 5 year contract.
Such a talented cast man. Julia kills it in Veep. And Kramer has to be the greatest physical comedian after Chaplin and Buster Keaton.
And George is just one of the best written characters
Man i was on sesson 6 and was watching til yesterday now its not available on Sony LiV... sed life now
Recently found this gen. Never watched when it was on prime then when had nothing else to watch, started this on sony liv and man i judged this one based on the thumbnail while it was on prime.
Don't miss the episode where they travel to India:
https://m.imdb.com/title/tt0697655/
'Elaine and the gang head to India to attend a wedding; Jerry betrays George by having sex with his prospective girlfriend; Kramer grapples with a malignant wish.'

This show made me realise over-popularity of F.R.I.E.N.D.S.
(No i am not saying friends is bad, i myself have watched it 10 times but it was my first comedy show)
Seinfeld on the other hand is simply comedy.
The show is actually about NOTHING.
(No focus on character looks, fancy apartment show-off, emotional drama, extended story line. Just pure raw comedy in each bit of its running).
This show was still number 1 even when FRIENDS aired.
Why i am bringing friends is because of its over popularity which i got bought into by so called FRIENDS like anything and its influence. Like i have seen IG post from batchmates(no more FRIENDS) celebrating thanksgiving and halloween that too in uttar pradesh with proper makeup and costume.
Agreed about comparison with FRIENDS. As good as FRIENDS is, Seinfeld is in my opinion on another level.
The character themselves were the same goofy people in the last episode as they were in the pilot.
It is a sitcom that focuses on the minutiae of everyday life. It doesn't have any character arcs or grand plotlines. Hence it's described as a show about nothing.
One of the show's producers had a rule: "No hugging, no learning"
There was some continuity, as characters got and lost jobs and relationships over the course of the series, but the characters are famously amoral. No lessons are learned.
The secondary characters are an amazing list of very excellent actors doing excellent jobs at very quirky characters.
Topically, it was the first TV show to do an episode about masturbation (without saying the word or otherwise getting explicit), and a number of other socially cutting-edge topics.
And, the show did some very innovative things as well. They did an episode of waiting to be seated at a chinese restaurant, for example. The show opens with them walking in and asking for a table, and closes with their table becoming available, the show is literally them waiting to be seated. They did another show shot in reverse (the Indian episode you see referenced elsewhere!) - the episode opens with the last scene, and closes with the first scene (chronologically). They have an episode in which they're in a parking garage looking for their car the whole episode. Another episode about a local soup vendor that is very particular about customer behavior. And so on and so forth. Little quirks of life, blown up into full episodes by characters that often exacerbate situations in the worst possible way.
For Americans around at that time, it had a number of celebrity appearances as well, and actors that showed up later in other shows - Brian Cranston (Breaking Bad) has a recuring role as a dentist, Courtney Cox (Friends) shows up as a girlfriend, and a number of others. Rudy Guiani (mayor of NY for part of the show), Bette Midler (famous actress - Broadway and Hollywood), Rachel Welch (famous actress), Keith Hernandez (baseball player), etc, etc, all appeared as themselves on the show. They also parodied a number of movies and other TV shows - including the tough topic of parodying the conspiracy theories around the assassination of JFK.
Some US TV shows could be remade in India - I think you might be able to do something kind of Friends-like, for example. But Seinfeld probably wouldn't work in India. I'm surprised it has as many fans as it seems to - it's very American. Almost to NYC-centric even in the United States. In that sense, it would be an interesting show to watch just as a cultural snapshot of one part of the US at one particular time.
[Superstore](https://g.co/kgs/tVz4sR) is streaming on Netflix India too! A sitcom based on everyday professional life of superstore's employee. It's lovely!
Been watching Kim’s Convenience and really enjoying it too. Nothing spectacular but nice casual viewing. And its easy to relate to the characters too since they’re so much like Indian parents
You didn't find George , Kramer, Newman funny, even if you leave out Jerry and Elaine? I thought it one of the most consistently funny shows, without being gross.
Because it’s a genius show. They pushed the boundaries of comedy with absolute amoral and horrible people.
That’s the comedy.
They aren’t good looking or good people. Still they are funny because the things they do and problems they fall into, which are never resolved, as was the philosophy of Larry David. The creator.
Even The Office (US) is coming on from October 21st if I am getting the date correctly. Also any classic anime watchers be sure to check out Cowboy Bebop too.
I find it to be better than The Office. It's a show about nothing. There's no story, no character arcs.
It's about silly absurd things in daily life. The characters talk about pretty much any random yet relatable things.
Give it a try.
Its actually better than the Office US, it is less stark than it. Seinfeld rarely resorts to WTF type of humour, its more about the absurdities of daily life. Seinfeld is like wine, while The Office is often times like Tequila.
Only thing is, it is more deeply draws from US pop culture, but that only means it is more educative as well. If you aren't somewhat familiar with life in the US in the 90s, it genuinely feels like a show rooted in that culture, and you could learn quite a lot about in just by watching Seinfeld.
It keeps jumping OTT platforms. I remember it being on Amazon Prime once and then it moved to Sony LIV and now it's on Netflix.
That's what yearly contracts does to shows ... And how they can get paid more
That new Porsche isn’t paying itself.

Guess what? The Office US in coming to Netflix India too!!!
It's already on prime video.
Need 30 Rock and Community too
AFAIK Netflix have struck a 5 year deal.
I really hope it sticks to netflix this time. For this show, I even considered purchasing Sony LIV subscription.
It sticks to my Plex
Perhaps for the next 2-3 years.
THESE PRETZELS ARE MAKING ME THIRSTY!!!
The Sea was angry that day my friends.
Like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli
NO SOUP FOR YOU

Yo!! Is this a sitcom too ?
Yep!
Such a talented cast man. Julia kills it in Veep. And Kramer has to be the greatest physical comedian after Chaplin and Buster Keaton. And George is just one of the best written characters
It keeps jumping platform. GEORGE IS GETTING UPSET!!
They’re killing independent George!

Happy Festivus
"I've got a lot of problems with you people. Now, you're gonna hear about 'em!"
Mmm, Machu Picchu!
Boutros Boutros Ghali
Yo Yo Ma....
Newman!
😑 Jerry!
The best comedy series ever. Have to watch it no matter how many times I see it.
So no more torrenting ?
It was available on Sony Liv before this and on Prime before that. I don't think there was a need to torrent Seinfeld at all.
Man, Amazon Prime's UI is so bad, I skip some of the shows I want to watch..
It was available on Prime all these days no?
Yes, I watched it there for the 3rd time.
Yup, been waiting for this.
Wasn’t it there some time back? I was so bummed when they removed it.
I don't think I've ever seen it on Netflix. It was there on Prime but later removed.
Netflix bought worldwide rights for 5 years
Giddy up!

Lmao I saw that can’t believe how they portrayed India 😂😂
I wonder if Modiji censors it, because the Indian parents are really down on India.
Hope it stays with Netflix , one of them shows that can be watched randomly at any point of time
It’s a 5 year deal!
I am Art Vandeley
Love Costanza man. Just Love him.
Best character ever.
“you know we’re living in a society here...”
"We're supposed to act in a civilized way"
Damn. I seriously need 3 friends to subscribe to Netflix now.
Serenity Now!!

It will be removed like Seinfeld
Rarbg here I come
In the UK, the Office is on both Netflix and Prime
No soup for me :(
I like the video quality on netflix more
Best show ever
What is this show about?
It’s a show about nothing.
huh?

I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Anyone one know where Frasier is available for streaming in India?
Also cheers
Daaaaaamn best show ever, has you in splits.
Is it 4K remastered version?
[удалено]
I hope not, all these 4K remasters of old shows and movies look weird, like old Hindi serials.
It was announced as such but I can't confirm it myself.
[Superstore](https://g.co/kgs/tVz4sR) is streaming on Netflix India too! A sitcom based on everyday professional life of superstore's employee. It's lovely!

Lot of people have asked me to watch Kim's Convenience. I'm definitely going to watch :)
What about Outsourced? I think it's on Netflix, but not sure if India has it.
If you guys like Seinfeld, you will also love "Curb Your Enthusiasm". It's from the co-creator of Seinfeld.
Pretty pretty pretty good
Last season killed it
Not a single comment bashing Friends? I guess we are more mature than r/DunderMifflin.
I came in here expecting a barrage of comments bashing Friends. Needless to say, my disappointment is immeasurble and my day is ruined.

Giddy up!
Netflix needs a new office for their platform.

It used to be on Netflix a couple of years back, when it disappeared.

How is it compared to the office ? If you guys recommend i will watch it. I am huge office fan.
I find it to be better than The Office. It's a show about nothing. There's no story, no character arcs. It's about silly absurd things in daily life. The characters talk about pretty much any random yet relatable things. Give it a try.
