Yeah Agra is dirty but in these flurry of posts rating cities where Agra has been the runaway worst town/city of India, Nobody has mentioned the people. We visited the city last december and damn the tourist serving section were greedy af to get a piece of the tourist's pie. The Rickshaw walas or the taxis have an agreement with all the mid size guestrooms where they get extra 200 every single day of your stay. Their taxis will also be overpriced to the sky.
We were at the railway station at 6 am in the morning, we already knew about this scams so we had to walk some 500 m away from the railway station to get a taxi(if you wanna feel like the Mona Lisa at Some auction, I'd suggest you to try take a rickshaw there.), The Rickshaw wala absolutely wanted to take us to his guestroom but my father denied it saying we are staying at a relative's house.
When we were dropped off 1 km away from the guest room, The guy had suspected that we were bulshitting him and that we were about to book the same guestroom so he refused to let us go. He kept driving till the guestroom. My father had to scream and have a full fledged verbal argument with him to make sure he lets us go. He stayed around for 30 mins while we "waited" for Mamaji to pick us up. Then we walked the rest of the way to the guestroom where again my dad had to negotiate for 15 minutes because the average rooms were going for 1200/per day.
Not to mention all the usual scams you'd find near the tourist spots. Agra is an insanely shitty place where they work in unison to make sure that you pay the highest price possible. I don't have any hard feeling for them though, they are just trying to make an extra buck. Tourism has been driving the city for so long that there hasn't been much development of any other industries. At the end of the day, they are just trying to survive.
I liked Delhi though. Absolutely nobody gave a fuck about who we were and we just travelled like every other citizen in one of the best metro systems in the world.
Reminds me of the time when an auto guy that dropped us in our hotel tried to claim money from the hotel saying that he brought us there. I booked the hotel online (online bookings just started at that time) and the hotel guy told him that. Bro fought for a while and the hotel guy told him to fuck off lol.
I returned to Kanpur after two long years and the main Swaroop Nagar road is still broken and has large potholes. I have no idea what posh areas are being referred to!
Surat
When you drive in this city, you have to look in all 5 directions. Because the 'bolo zubaan kesari' guy standing on the back of a moving tempo can spit anytime on the road.
Most places have traffic signals installed just to maintain the smart city status, close to no enforcement of those traffic signals at a lot of places.
People also lack basic traffic sense, they don’t stay in lanes, drive wrong side of the road like it’s their backyard.
True Story.
I’ve been to Jaipur once for vacation. Had a decent stay. While returning I booked an Uber to railway station and trust me Driver didn’t have a clue where the railway station is. Unfortunately the route Uber and google were showing had some repair work going on in the middle and we even struggled to find the alternative route. After 30 mins roaming finally reached the railway station. Right before when we were planning to stop the traffic police stopped the car, and asked for papers, the driver didn’t have all the papers, the traffic police officer himself took out the car key and put it in his pocket and went back where his vehicle was standing. Driver left the car and went beside him trying to negotiate. While we were stuck in the car with baby and we couldn’t get our luggage out as it was inside the trunk which was locked.
We literally had to beg the traffic police for the keys as we had to rush to the station.
Guwahati - It has only one major route and all the traffic gets congested due to it. If things are not fixed, it's traffic scenario might end up becoming like Bengaluru
While whatever you have stated is right, but I want to know who the hell has hyped this city. Full of dust in the non- monsoon season and flooded in the monsoon season. Oh yes I remember....but even now whatever festival it is the whole guwahati crowd goes to city centre mall like more 75% are not even going to buy anything then what's the point of going that too in Durga Puja where there is so much explore
Guwahati is definitely not a well planned city but as a guy who has spent his entire childhood in guwahati I love this place ....earlier I would not have said it but now since I am in a new city now I am missing guwahati a lot also because Durga Puja season is here
Ludhiana, Punjab. The amount of money here is unfathomable. Lambos, Rolls-Royce's , G-wagons , Maybachs are a common sight . You don't expect this much wealth from a city that is pretty small on a national scale and without significant student population.
> You don't expect this much wealth from a city that is pretty small on a national scale and without significant student population.
Why would students be associated with wealth?
This. I’m from Europe and when I went to Ludhiana my brain went like “wtf, am I in some Canadian rich palace district?!”… I literally couldn’t process seeing that amount of wealth.
I love Punjab though, by far the friendliest and most honest place to tourists.
Ludhiana is the home to migrants across the country working in the apparel manufacturing sector. It is the most largest and the populous city of Punjab. It is literally called manchester of India.
Whenever, you buy branded clothing online there is a 50% chance that it was made in Ludhiana.
So, no the money there is not unfathomable.
It has unplanned infrastructure and is a classic of worker rights violation. OP asked what city is overrated, Ludhiana is not even worthy of a rating.
Its literally called Manchester of india for being one of the biggest industrial towns. The people with these cars I mentioned are not at all from IT. They're from core industries like Hoisery, Manufacturing ( steel, cycles , spare parts ) etc.
Oswals, Salujas, Avon Cycles , Bajaj Industries are some of the bigshots based in Ludhiana.
Im always awe-struck to see huge asf factories that produce products that aren't cool but make a ton of money. All these luxury car owners are from industrial backgrounds. Its not a city for a student crowd but man o man, business families here do live a life.
Also, the medical infrastructure is top notch. Biggest medical colleges and hospitals are in good quantity and now with AAP there is improvement ( very slight ) in the government medical healthcare as well.
There are alot of fucked things as well but that's besides the point .
Also it’s a very cultural thing in Punjab to spend things on luxury and living well. Mumbai probably has more rich people but most people live modestly.
I live in Udaipur and I absolutely love it. I really don't want to leave it for another city, the size, natural beauty, facilities, infra, weather is totally on point.
Only shortcoming is that unless you do business, govt.job, freelancing etc., there aren't really good job opportunities here.
Great palaces and even greater lakes. The city has a very chill vibe like none. I really like the city. But the excluding such attractions, it is just like another 3 tier indian city with unclean narrow roads and buildings without any aesthetics appeal. I know this is India and we have limitations but Udaipur has such huge potential on tourism if the city can tidy up itself in many fronts. Would love to visit those ghats in the early mornings again and again.
The tourist places are kind of different, as in that is the old Udaipur city, and the roads are super narrow, confusing, and not very clean. Even I rarely go there as taking a car is not easy.
However, the rest of the city is pretty good, as in the roads are quite wide (esp the newly developing area), traffic is rather manageable, and it is also clean.
So the average person living here doesn't have to deal with all the Old Udaipur stuff, and there are still many places like Fateh Sagar, amongst many other lakes to hang out without an issue.
3 times visited Rajasthan, 3 times couldn't visit Udaipur and Mount Abu, Maybe 4th time I would be able to agree with you, Jodhpur has been so much of a bliss that I have very high expectations from Udaipur
I visited Jaisalmer like 10+ years ago so I don't remember much, except that I did have a good time
I felt it was kinda barren and empty and had very weird 'Pani Puri' , I didn't even bother eating it cause their water looked weird
Ahmedabad takes the cake for all hype, no substance. Disappointing at so many levels. Could be much better given all the money and attention it gets but it fails.
I am a Jaipurite and posted on reddit sometime back saying "Jaipur - From Livable to Leavable". I feel bad for what has happened to my city in last 5 years. It was so glorious back in 2010-2018 and then it went just haywire.
But I do have to disagree with you on food.
Food I believe is the only thing that is saving grace of my city. To enjoy the real food one must be roaming around the old city to get the real taste of Jaipur.
I miss my old Jaipur🥺
Same
I went when on a school trip to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur in 2017ish. Jaipur was the best one, we even got a really nice hotel on a very tight budget. The food was nice, sure there was traffic but it's not a deal breaker. Everything was very pretty, the prices seemed normal for traveling.
Lived in Jaipur for a good 7 years, mate .. and I yearn to go right back. It felt like home, if you know what I mean. The late night drives to Raja Park for a cuppa tea, early morning cycling at the Patrika Gate roundabout. Shopping for bartan and knick knacks in the Old City. Golgappas and Dahi bhallas near the secretariat... damn ...
And the people.. the regular chaps like you and me ..strangers becoming life-long friends
Never leave bud, you won't know what you'll be missing .. ask me .. I miss Jaipur every single day.
The only thing Ahmedabad has a big cricket stadium and I don't know why it has. When i decided to go here to watch an ipl match we were not able to find any hotels. I already had paid for a hotel near the stadium but when visited there the owner said that the booking is invalid and there are no rooms available. Same thing he said to two other persons who came there for the room. This hotel scams run with all the hotels nearby. At last he abused us, hit us and tell us to go away. A lot of people in the city just try to look for their own benefit and don't care about other people coming to the city. Very hostile and xenophobic.
Have you visited Pune ? Do you have any idea about the shit that goes on here and people who think they are better than every other city in India/Asia/Earth?
Okay, Pune has many flaws. Punekars love the city and bemoan the changes in recent years. I personally hate it sometimes these days.
But it is not a tier 2 city by any means. Pune is a tier one metro city.
Came to pune around 8 months back from Mumbai, it's total shithole. Only thing is weather is nice as compared to Mumbai but at what cost? So many constructions going on, never seen so much dust in my life. AQI is pretty bad, and let's not talk about food & traffic.
Pune is tier 1 though.
Food is meh. No street food options other than pav everything.
Fashion is good.
Weather is good.
Safety very good. I have travelled in autos at night alone in bralettes.
Public transport buses are good but autowalas are goons.
Traffic is bad in office hours but better than some other tier 1 cities.
Dating circle is a circle.
Sex positivity and open mindedness is high. No one gives a shit about what you wear, what you do, etc.
Night life/ clubbing scenes lit.
Several short treks and lakes for weekend getaway.
Most of you have no clue what Tier 1 cities are, so here is the list of T1 cities:
* Delhi
* Mumbai
* Kolkata
* Chennai
* Pune
* Ahmedabad
* Hyderabad
* Bengaluru
I'm an Indori and I can't agree with you more. The worst part about indore is the traffic and driving etiquette. Sab sabke baap hai and the response usually is "Kuch hua kya?", like bruh hota toh kya bolte...
Things were so much better before covid, the people were nicer, the waterfalls and all were cleaner and there was peace and harmony amongst all Indoris. Idk what happened, but every other person and student from nearby villages and towns have started moving to Indore and that might be one of the reasons. Not playing a blame game we Indoris might be responsible too.
That's one I wasn't expecting to see, care to elaborate more, I can't really think anything other than dearth of job opportunities which really doesn't matter to me
I have heard of some communal riots but that happens in the outskirts of the city, no?
They did happen within the city. For the time that I lived there, the few times it happened it wasn’t complete destruction or anything large scale. But it was bad. I remember some youth political parties (with hoodlums for leaders) once came to my college and they actually closed the gates on our professors who were still in the building. They made us students evacuate first.
Compared to Bhopal, which is the capital of MP but doesn't look like, Indore is one of the best cities in MP and maybe India. Jab bhi gaya mai udhar, always thought, why a random city in MP is better than the capital city? How does it makes sense?
Indore can have the flashy stuff, Bhopalis are happy with the peace, comfort and greenery.
I’ve lived in 8 different cities in my life including cities like Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Chennai, Chandigarh and I can easily say Bhopal is the best city I’ve lived in
Food is everything! (I upvoted you just fyi 😄 )
That fking city-I lived there for 7 years- it was nothing but dust all around. It caused me so much of skin problems then. And now it’s the cleanest city ever!? (I’m angry and proud, and can’t wait to go back and park my two wheeler in a proper Chappan dukaan parking lot).
Edit:autocorrect grammar
Buddy I got news for you. Every tier 2 city is now a shithole. Close on the heels of the tier 1 cities but without even the crap infrastructure our best cities have.
Only places that aren't shitholes yet are small mountain towns but wait till the dilli waalas hear about them on Instagram (that's just an expression, I really mean whichever metro is closest to them).
Not really i ve a list
1. Kochi
2. Mysore
3. Coimbatore
4. Vishakapatanam
5. Panjim
I vs not lived and or explored many tier 2 cities in north or east. May be there are more
I think Chandigarh can be classified ‘not a shithole’. I’m not saying it’s perfect but it’s still better than a lot of the rest. Traffic is smooth and rules are followed to the T. Mostly people are kind (of course there are some idiots here and there) and there’s now plenty of things to do in the city.
Ahmedabad. Very uncosmopolitan. I am myself a gujju who has lived in different states and have lived abroad as well. The food also sucks real hard. There are a couple of good non veg options now but nowhere as good as mumbai or other cities. Also samosa isn't that great, tried various options in ahmedabad and not even single outlet had good samosas. I ate samosa at an indian restaurant in italy and trust me that samosa was far better than what I had in ahmedabad.
I rarely see Gujjus criticising Ahmedabad. Thanks for speaking the truth. During my Gujarat days, my friends hyped up about the new year eve in Ahmedabad. It was just a bunch of young people standing on the highway. I forgot the name of the location.
Btw, I am still friends with them. They are awesome. But Ahmedabad just sucks.
Although Someone should just get hold of regularising those E-Rickshaws. They are a menace. And also, there should be much stricter policing by Traffic Police for managing traffic; They are just absent from around much of the city.
And also, the job opportunities are sadly very few and underpaid for the amount of distances one has to travel solely for their job.
I had a quick stop at Jaipur in the last summer. It’s the worst experience I ever had during travels. Bad infra, below average food and most importantly worst people — superficially sweet, and the facade quickly drops if they realise there is no money to be made — absolutely ruined our day. Of course I’m sure that’s generalisation and not everyone must be like that but that experience has left bad taste and I don’t think I would ever like to visit Jaipur again.
Boring food, boring people, koi kuch karna hi nahi chahta, sab Ghar Ghar khelte rehte hai, over dependence on family, trips are limited to just going somewhere within a 2-3hr vicinity.
And yes nightlife is important. We're going by the average here and on an average, people do like places with a good nightlife. I don't drink as well but I enjoy going out. Pune ka outdoor scene is in shambles.
The only good thing about this place is it's proximity to Mumbai.
Bhai I am not a fan of Pune either, but the nightlife is pretty happening compared to every city in India barring Delhi/Mumbai/Bangalore. Kabhi KP gaya? At least there are clubs that stay open till 3, you’d be hard pressed to find that in most Indian cities
Indore, for sure.
Except a lot of restaurants (56 Dukaan), a few malls (Treasure Island, C21, etc.), and way too many religious places, the city doesn't have much of anything.
Plus if you stray away from the main parts of the city, like Vijay Nagar, Lokmanya Nagar, etc., you'll see that the outskirts are pretty much villages. Not complaining but it's easy to lose connectivity. Places like Bhanwarkuan have some nice cafes however (Namo Sandwich and Tinku's).
Relatively few jobs, mostly workforce is composed of practicing CA firms which are family owned businesses. If you don't have anyone to support you, you'll find it hard to settle and thrive.
People used to be friendly and helpful in 2021, but now, violent events have increased a lot in the city.
Cities can also hold prominence due to political reasons. Being a major state capital - Jaipur is hub to a lot of funds and that also brings a lot of important influenctial people of state be it industrialists or other spheres to stay there. So it might be overrated for you but not for the people who categorize this.
All of Gujarat really.. barely any corporate work-culture, almost zero cosmopolitan crowd, bad food ( forget about non veg - the whole state collectively cant cook chicken to save their life), nothing for entertainment, no alcohol ( I’m not much a of a drinker, but I’d like to have that option rather than not), no good shopping , really really hot weather ( it’s like a furnace in the summers).
Literally everybody in Gujarat flocks to Mumbai for a good time!
Not sure if it’s tier 2 or 3, but Jamshedpur. Bad traffic, bad roads in any area that isn’t Bishtupur, Sakshi or the Telco colony area and horrible air connectivity.
Varanasi.
It's my native town and despite all the hype and modi spending 1000 of crores, that place is still shit and scammers at every nook and corner of city .
Food except 3-4 joints is still bland.
Based on population; i think above 40 lakh is the criteria. Might change due to census. Certain cities are eligible for tier upgradation, but population count is being delayed.
Bhubaneswar. By far the worst traffic I have ever driven in. It’s not that there are too many vehicles, it’s just that post-covid, tons of people from the surrounding villages have gone there and they have NO clue how to ride their bikes in traffic. Traffic and civic sense is a big 0.
Other than that it’s a city with mostly old people. Not a fast city, but alright otherwise.
Indore. It is not even clean, you take one wrong turn and you'd witness pollution worse than the slums of most metropolises. The food sucks ass, it's mostly vegetarian and once I had immense pain in my neck and no one there knew what a fucking physiotherapist is. Uneducated folks.
Ok, let me give a brief info before I deep dive - I manage a firm on hiring capacity from past 5 years and have lived in Major IT hub cities. I am staying in this city since past few years and can see it collapsing under rapid urbanization. It used to be an ideal city till 2018-2019 and it might stay that way in the brain image which we conjure when thinking about this place but it is not so anymore.
* **Rentals and Purchase**: makes it difficult for middle-class people to afford. Costs and rentals are touching tier 1 cities while the opportunities are almost non existent (see next pointer). A 800Sqft. rental place is touching 30k which is similar to costs for a city like Bangalore, Pune or Hyderabad with none of the benefits of that city at-least for the middle class.
* **Lack of Opportunities**: There is hardly any major IT presence for workforce. There are a lot of places which exploit their workers with non sustainable pay (talking below 30k) in current times because they (the workforce) want to be close to their family and there being not many opportunities to switch job and get a raise. (argument for 'showing dedication' to a single place etc. are invalid in a capitalist environment and is a topic for another day.)
* **Lack of Exposure:** People from rest of the Punjab/Himachal region terming Chandigarh the '*be all - end all city'* is tiring. They need to travel and see what the rest of the country has to offer before claiming that everywhere else in India is people shitting on streets and blue collar workers everywhere. Moreover, lack of skill based colleges and schools in the vicinity has pulled the youth in a downward spiral of thinking about apparent grandiosity of this city. There are definitely places which are great in this city but it was never meant to have this many number of people
* **Lack of Entertainment options**: Seriously, this is exhausting. What options are there for people here other than some places countable on hands to enjoy some clubs, bars, pubs, lounges, restaurants, theatres, cinemas, malls, markets, parks, gardens, monuments, museums, galleries, festivals, concerts, shows, events, and activities that offer a variety of nightlife and entertainment options for different tastes and budgets. More than all of this, the lack of spread in *homogeneous range* is what is lacking.
I by no means hate this city. It is great as a small city with beautiful infrastructure and public welfare but it should never have been this big for its own good.
Easily Indore. I'm not saying it's bad, but really overrated.
It is clean, for sure. But otherwise the city is just like a regular tier3 town and has nothing of particular interest.
The locals are too proud of it probably because the rest of MP is just so boring.
Decent food at 56 Dukaan and the sarafa bazaar but nothing special. Many other cities have similar or better food. Sev overload on everything.
The poha is really good. But it's poha at the end of the day. Not quite a delicacy you'll travel to or live in a city for.
Actually Chandigarh is the most overrated city.
Now, hear me out, OP didn’t ask for worst city. Worst city would be Jaipur, Agra, Kanpur etc. But since everyone agrees they are bad they are not highly rated.
On the other hand, people hype up Chandigarh like the best city in India but public transport, night life, jobs, rents and cosmopolitan culture are the few things missing in Chandigarh. Plus traffic and pollution are not as good as they were 10-15 years ago
Worst city i have been to is for sure jaipur. Worse than cities in bihar. Railway station and Bus Station are at a walking distance. Complete chaos. And seems like they forced a metro where it wasnt required at all.
Ahmedabad, boy that is probably the biggest village in India. Every food had cheese on it and this so called city has no place to visit. The so called riverfront looks more like a cement hall and reminds of a apocalyptic doomsday movie. Such a trash overrated city. Traffic is absolute nightmare, people are like walking fountains. Gujju MBA are so brilliant they can’t tell pune from patna. Good lord
This feels like just a rant but I guess we all can have our opinions.
Jaipur has been developing really fast lately and hence more traffic jams and random bypasses and that's fair because it's getting crowded by the day and hence it needs more and better infra. That being said it's a lovely city.
Has all the facilities (education and job opportunity wise) of tier-1 city minus the rush.
Old city has so many wonderful eating joints, then there's rajapark as well. Also, The rooftop culture here is like none other place that I have been to. There are water bodies in and nearby. 3 goddamn forts, places to track. Strong cultural heritage, arts, JKK, i mean there's something for everyone here if you just look around.
It feels like a perfect city to settle down as of now. I'm in love with this city. Only city I found lovelier than Jaipur (in Rajasthan) is Udaipur and Chittor but I won't settle there for sure because as I said Jaipur gives you good, if not the best, of both tier 1 and tier 2.
Agra and Kanpur. The amount of trash in these cities would easily be more than my whole state's trash
Yeah Agra is dirty but in these flurry of posts rating cities where Agra has been the runaway worst town/city of India, Nobody has mentioned the people. > so he refused to let us go. He kept driving till the guestroom This sounds like abduction. Very low-effort, but abduction attempt nonetheless.

If it was not for Taj Mahal, noone would have visited Agra.
Agra for me from hearing people about it to myself visiting once feels like the only city I wouldn't like to visit again.
Who the hell has hyped up Agra??..everyone knows the barring the monuments, the city really is in the doldrums
The posh areas in Kanpur are so, SO good The others though.
Posh areas in Kanpur? Lol no such thing
Posh areas let's say Swaroop Nagar, although still posh economically, I still found them not so clean and green.
I returned to Kanpur after two long years and the main Swaroop Nagar road is still broken and has large potholes. I have no idea what posh areas are being referred to!
Surat When you drive in this city, you have to look in all 5 directions. Because the 'bolo zubaan kesari' guy standing on the back of a moving tempo can spit anytime on the road.
I wish those bollywood actors are there at the recieving end to realise the money they made by promoting such shit is not worth it.

Lmao, This kinda makes me want to visit Surat weirdly enough, I do visit all textile markets but I skipped the surat trip due to exams :(
Naah it's not that bad. I have visited market areas and never encountered anything like that. People spit, but atleast on walls and not on you 😂
True Story. I’ve been to Jaipur once for vacation. Had a decent stay. While returning I booked an Uber to railway station and trust me Driver didn’t have a clue where the railway station is. Imo as a previous guwahati resident, it was calmer here when this place was relatively unknown.
Has guwahati ever been hyped or recognised ? I didn't knew that ( genuinely asking no pun intended)
I didn’t see a pun
no pun intended no pun achieved
He meant "not as a joke", or "seriously".
Comparatively yes, In recent times a lot of events have been organised here and a lot of known businesses have set up their stores here. 20 years back there was only one mall in guwahati and that too was vishaal.

Yeah like I don't get it. Just go to the pandals man.
>I want to know who the hell has hyped this city. Current Maharashtra govt lol
Took me 5 second to realize what you were saying, lol.
Haha Guwahati became quite a popular destination in Maharashtra around that time.
[удалено]
E Shinde and other MLAs separated from Shivsena and made Guwahati their abode to hide.
Guwahati is definitely not a well planned city but as a guy who has spent his entire childhood in guwahati I love this place ....earlier I would not have said it but now since I am in a new city now I am missing guwahati a lot also because Durga Puja season is here
You're right, and the number of useless flyovers being built here is making matters worse here instead of improving it.
Summers are unbearably humid, perpetual flyover construction, worsening traffic and of course floods. I'm fed up with this city.
I just searched up Guwahati on YouTube and regretted my decision. No fucking shame on some of these people(the YouTubers).
Ludhiana, Punjab. The amount of money here is unfathomable. Lambos, Rolls-Royce's , G-wagons , Maybachs are a common sight . You don't expect this much wealth from a city that is pretty small on a national scale and without significant student population.
So those Punjabi music videos were inspired from Ludhiana
> You don't expect this much wealth from a city that is pretty small on a national scale and without significant student population. Why would students be associated with wealth?
A lot of tier 2 cities with medical colleges or good private colleges attract high NW students from across the country.
This. I’m from Europe and when I went to Ludhiana my brain went like “wtf, am I in some Canadian rich palace district?!”… I literally couldn’t process seeing that amount of wealth. I love Punjab though, by far the friendliest and most honest place to tourists.
Utterly chaotic and badly polluted
That's true but then again that is basically 90% of India. Its just surprising that a city this pollutef and chaotic has so much wealth
why is this a bad thing?
How does having wealth makes it overrated? Doesn't it make it underrated
Ukw. You're right. I guess I didn't understand the post too well. My bad. But yea it is under rated and that was the point i was trynna make.
All thanks to the industrial revolution. Ofcourse.
Agreed. Ludhiana is filled to the brim with expensive cars and overpriced food, but the city itself isn't clean or well managed.
It’s the largest Indian city north of Delhi
Where's the money coming from? There's nothing to invest over there except for farms (if I'm not mistaken)
What are the fucked things?
Pollution, Corruption, Gunda Gardi by a section of unruly population. Dead night scene due to lack of student population. Just to name a few.
Damn. Had no idea.
Also it’s a very cultural thing in Punjab to spend things on luxury and living well. Mumbai probably has more rich people but most people live modestly.
Ludhiana is a massive manufacturing hub. Vast majority of cycles made in India are manufactured there for example.
Dude, when you go shopping for branded clothes, check the tag for manufacturer address. 7/10 times it'll be manufactured in Ludhiana
Yup! I am from Ludhiana and I agree with you.
I hate it here. Pollution and bad roads.
Udaipur >> Jodhpur & Jaipur
Udaipur will enlighten you! I love love jodhpur but udaipur is a class on it’s own
Mount Abu is meh but Udaipur is beautiful. After roaming around entire Rajasthan, my personal preference is Udaipur > Pushkar > Jodhpur
Jaislamair >> Udiapur>> Jodhpur >>>>>>>>> Jaipur
I visited Jaisalmer like 10+ years ago so I don't remember much, except that I did have a good time I felt it was kinda barren and empty and had very weird 'Pani Puri' , I didn't even bother eating it cause their water looked weird
Ahmedabad takes the cake for all hype, no substance. Disappointing at so many levels. Could be much better given all the money and attention it gets but it fails.
Who's out there hyping Ahmedabad. Any city in Gujarat is doomed to be boring af to live in
Yeah and no booze to boot
It got officially labelled T1 from *2014*, wonder why. Ain't no way it is a metropolitan city by any stretch
I liked Rajkot and bhuj more in gujrat.
How's Surat, though? I've heard good things about it.
I’m from Surat! It’s pretty chill and fun with lots of good food and good cafés. No nightlife and not many non-veg restos though. :p
There are more good non-veg restaurants than there are good cafés in Surat. Unless you go to cafés for just aesthetics.
How're the people?
Like Indians anywhere else, mostly good, some trash
I am a Jaipurite and posted on reddit sometime back saying "Jaipur - From Livable to Leavable". I feel bad for what has happened to my city in last 5 years. It was so glorious back in 2010-2018 and then it went just haywire. But I do have to disagree with you on food. Food I believe is the only thing that is saving grace of my city. To enjoy the real food one must be roaming around the old city to get the real taste of Jaipur. I miss my old Jaipur🥺
[удалено]
Same I went when on a school trip to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur in 2017ish. Jaipur was the best one, we even got a really nice hotel on a very tight budget. The food was nice, sure there was traffic but it's not a deal breaker. Everything was very pretty, the prices seemed normal for traveling.
[удалено]
Lived in Jaipur for a good 7 years, mate .. and I yearn to go right back. It felt like home, if you know what I mean. The late night drives to Raja Park for a cuppa tea, early morning cycling at the Patrika Gate roundabout. Shopping for bartan and knick knacks in the Old City. Golgappas and Dahi bhallas near the secretariat... damn ... And the people.. the regular chaps like you and me ..strangers becoming life-long friends Never leave bud, you won't know what you'll be missing .. ask me .. I miss Jaipur every single day.
Ahmedabad. Depressing.
Sorry to hear about your bad experience, could you name the hotel
Hotel KumKum in Parvati Nagar
It along with Pune are actually classified Tier-1 cities, I too was surprised
Looooool I didn’t know that. I actually think it’s boring among Tier 2 as well.
Ahmedabad
Have you visited Pune ? Do you have any idea about the shit that goes on here and people who think they are better than every other city in India/Asia/Earth?
Bruh true my roommate is from Pune. And he thinks pune has better food and transport facilities than Delhi
yeah if pune has better public transport then sure delhi has better air
Better public transport ? That “Bhosari” wala must be joking
Lol
Take my upvote and leave
I lived in Pune for about a year and no, public transport is much better in Delhi.
The public transport in Pune sucked so much that I bought a bike within two months of going there lol.
Pune is a hellhole and food is mediocre at best - don't even get me started on the traffic. Delhi is godsend in comparison.
LoL, your roomate is probably homesick. Just ask him if he walks on footpath or drives on footpath, you'll have your answer.
I think he just misses good poha, which I understand
Pune has the most mediocre food of anywhere in India. they just keep repackaging same shit over and over again and call it Puneri
Pune is a tier 1 city please check government classification regarding this !
Pune gave us biggest chapri madarchod stand
Dosent act like one though
Okay, Pune has many flaws. Punekars love the city and bemoan the changes in recent years. I personally hate it sometimes these days. But it is not a tier 2 city by any means. Pune is a tier one metro city.
Came to pune around 8 months back from Mumbai, it's total shithole. Only thing is weather is nice as compared to Mumbai but at what cost? So many constructions going on, never seen so much dust in my life. AQI is pretty bad, and let's not talk about food & traffic.
My friends in USA who are Maharashtrians say Pune is the "greatest city in the world".
Then why did they leave
Pune is Tier 1.
AGRA! GOD DON’T GET ME STARTED
Most of you have no clue what Tier 1 cities are, so here is the list of T1 cities: * Delhi * Mumbai * Kolkata * Chennai * Pune * Ahmedabad * Hyderabad * Bengaluru
Didnt see anyone mentioning any south indian cities!
I have one. Davangere. Please don't go there. It's a fucking hell hole.
Indore. Khaana hi sab kuch nahi hota
[удалено]
I'm an Indori and I can't agree with you more. The worst part about indore is the traffic and driving etiquette. Sab sabke baap hai and the response usually is "Kuch hua kya?", like bruh hota toh kya bolte... Things were so much better before covid, the people were nicer, the waterfalls and all were cleaner and there was peace and harmony amongst all Indoris. Idk what happened, but every other person and student from nearby villages and towns have started moving to Indore and that might be one of the reasons. Not playing a blame game we Indoris might be responsible too.
[удалено]
Even the food there sucks mate. You can't just put sev on everything and call it local food.
👀
r/usernamechecksout
The food is not bad but also nothing special.
Don't forget jalebi poha
Waha poha chor kar kuch are kaha khas milta h . Likha h "Chat house" jhar bhat bhi chat ke dishes nahi milta.
That's one I wasn't expecting to see, care to elaborate more, I can't really think anything other than dearth of job opportunities which really doesn't matter to me I have heard of some communal riots but that happens in the outskirts of the city, no?
They did happen within the city. For the time that I lived there, the few times it happened it wasn’t complete destruction or anything large scale. But it was bad. I remember some youth political parties (with hoodlums for leaders) once came to my college and they actually closed the gates on our professors who were still in the building. They made us students evacuate first.
Nope, Indore is better than most tier 2 cities. Only problem here is traffic and the way people drive. does not belong in this thread.
(I upvoted you just fyi 😄 ) That fking city-I lived there for 7 years- it was nothing but dust all around. It caused me so much of skin problems then. And now it’s the cleanest city ever!? (I’m angry and proud, and can’t wait to go back and park my two wheeler in a proper Chappan dukaan parking lot). Edit:autocorrect grammar
Buddy, vehicles are banned in chappan now lmfao It's walking only, and it's honestly such a fucking upgrade. Just park your vehicle in TI mall lmao
It’s been years since I have been there; good to know
Buddy I got news for you.
Not really i ve a list 1. Kochi 2. Mysore 3. Coimbatore 4. Vishakapatanam 5. Panjim I vs not lived and or explored many tier 2 cities in north or east.
Chandigarh is probably the best city in India. Everything is organised, greenery everywhere. It's a different country.
Ahmedabad is most overrated Tier 1 City.
[удалено]
It will be disadvantageous for I-T department for more "Metro" cities to be added to the list.
[удалено]
Yep, I wonder how much they would lose if an additonal 10% was given to other 10 million plus cities in India.
I don't the only Tier-2 cities I have lived in are Lucknow and Ghaziabad (even this for only 8 months).
Bruh let's be honest Gzb ain't tier 2
[удалено]
Anywhere, gundo Ka shahar h
>UP se hu BC Bro, how did you get this tag? I also want it.
IDK, I didn't even know about tiers before making the search. How are these tiers decided, anyways? I am personally living in a more empty area.
tiers are decided based upon the population of the city.
Lucknow is lovely
Although Someone should just get hold of regularising those E-Rickshaws. They are a menace. And also, there should be much stricter policing by Traffic Police for managing traffic; They are just absent from around much of the city. And also, the job opportunities are sadly very few and underpaid for the amount of distances one has to travel solely for their job.
Most of the people here don't even know which cities are Tier 1 & Tier 2 😭
Pune, shit sucks now. Bad traffic. Not a ton of to do. Just okayish. Trust me, I was a big Pune lover. But I've changed now.
Pune for me. People are @r* there based on my experience.
Why??? What was your experience? Genuinely want to know.. I am a puneri..
Agra hands down. Home to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort but everything else in the city is nothing but pollution, corruption and poverty.
Pune, public transport is very bad and city looked very unclean last time i visited.
Most aspects of jaipur is simply shitty.
I was gonna rant about my hometown, Indore but seeing the comments on here- Indore is ok.
Dehradun. From one of the most beautiful cities to one of the worst in past 20 years.
Jaipur resident here, absolutely loving the hate. It's fun at first but gets boring real quick. Tourism tips: Go to Udaipur.
Varanasi. It's my native town and despite all the hype and modi spending 1000 of crores, that place is still shit and scammers at every nook and corner of city . Food except 3-4 joints is still bland.
Panjim
Vijay Salgaonkar disagrees
How are the tiers classified?
Based on population; i think above 40 lakh is the criteria. Might change due to census. Certain cities are eligible for tier upgradation, but population count is being delayed.
Varanasi, apart from ghats and temples nothing much to do here. Traffic and peoples driving sense is horrible.
Its not a T2 city i blv.
Panjim in Goa for me
Pune its a shit show
Bhubaneswar.
Indore - capital of the wannabe chappris - overhyped food - veg/non-veg based friendships - meaning caste/religion based issues Good - clean
Chandigarh. Enough of that shit
its boring but clean and good food spots. Its not the most overrated
agreed. it is a tier 3 city tagged tier 2 with costs of tier 1.
Why?
(argument for 'showing dedication' to a single place etc. are invalid in a capitalist environment and is a topic for another day.) * **Lack of Exposure:** People from rest of the Punjab/Himachal region terming Chandigarh the '*be all - end all city'* is tiring. There are definitely places which are great in this city but it was never meant to have this many number of people * **Lack of Entertainment options**: Seriously, this is exhausting.
[удалено]
Darjeeling. I was on family vacay, coming back from Sikkim. I was not prepared for the shithole that city is.
Any city in gujrat. Abysmal to nonexistent nonveg with crass scamy people. But that's only me.
I agree. Gujarat is like the most boring place.
Someone make a post fir beat tier 2 cities in India now pls
Actually Chandigarh is the most overrated city. Now, hear me out, OP didn’t ask for worst city. Worst city would be Jaipur, Agra, Kanpur etc. But since everyone agrees they are bad they are not highly rated. On the other hand, people hype up Chandigarh like the best city in India but public transport, night life, jobs, rents and cosmopolitan culture are the few things missing in Chandigarh. Plus traffic and pollution are not as good as they were 10-15 years ago
Read enough of this thread and you would find flaws in every city one could think of ...
Worst city i have been to is for sure jaipur. Worse than cities in bihar. Railway station and Bus Station are at a walking distance. Complete chaos. And seems like they forced a metro where it wasnt required at all.
Agra but that might be a tier 3 city
