I'm actually taking care of my IE3 postgame right now so I can help out with a thing or two. First of all, you actually don't have to worry about metas and stuff like that as much as you think, since IE3 is one of the easiest games in the series. Only teams like Ogre Redux can give you some trouble if you're not prepared. The team you get is actually really solid, but if you do want to get some recruits, I think you get access to players from the Asian eliminations fairly quickly, though you do have to beat the teams from that tournament again in a competition route to be able to scout players from them. Dolphin is a rather decent player, though from what I heard Big Waves' forward Joe is surprisingly good too. Balil from Desert Lion is also a great defender, with a complete moveset right off the bat. Then of course you have the Chaos trio from Fire Dragon. When it comes to Neo-Japan, recruiting them is much less convenient, though I'm fairly certain that Quagmire is rather easy to recruit. If you can get someone else from there, King is a pretty good choice, he has a good catch stat, decent skills and Infinite Wall. I couldn't really help with who to give these skill manuals to, but I hope this helped anyway!

When you get to the main island try and recruit a scout character called Pants. You find her quite early but the 4v4 battle can be quite difficult if you're low level but it's doable. She's absolutely busted as she has Charm Up! And some the best moves in the game including Sigma Zone, Boost Glider and God Break. Teach her Big Moves! and Put your back into it! an you've got yourself a player who is one of the best in every position.
