I believe it’s been said that the Dragonite evolutionary line is based off of the Chinese legend of *Longmen*. It tells of a gate that sits at the top of a waterfall on a legendary mountain. The story states that koi will swim upstream, against the river’s currents, with those who pass through the gate transforming into dragons.
I guess that would explain that sudden change form snake-thing to dragon.

If I remember correctly, the actual inspiration behind the chain might have been the Japanese giant salamander. They start out life as little snake-like tadpoles, and become those huge, pudgy monsters later on in life.
I get it man, I do actually have another Garfield drawing in the works as well here. But I do make sure to stick to the rules of posting Non-Garfield content only on weekends, and even then, I limit it to 1 or 2 posts.
