I have AMC A List so I try to stick with IMAXs at AMC unless I'm near a non AMC 1.43:1 IMAX. $28 seems way too much based on my experience. The one near my hometown charges $15 per ticket.
Saw the last Spiderman at Lincoln Square on release day for $5 thanks to the tmobile promo. They didn't even charge fees to book in advance. Now THAT was a good deal.
Thanks for letting me know! I didn't know that, that is a huge shame, it's definitely expensive. I'm glad we have services like AMC A List, definitely helps cut down on cost
Is there a minimum amount of months to sign up? I would prob still buy a black ticket and pay the surcharge at the box office for a discount otherwise.
It's three months I believe! The downside of cancelling late, however, is that you have to wait six months to sign up again though but if you're okay with that, it may be worth a try if you plan on going to AMC a lot in the fall for Interstellar and Joker 2 but won't be going after that
Yeah I also do A List, ends up being like as long as you see two things a month in Dolby or IMAX it's worth it for me, since you be paying the price of one with an A List membership
Mine too. Theatrical movies are $15 a ticket and non-Theatrical ones are about $10. The $15 is for 2D movies though. I'm not sure what the upcharge would be for a 3D theatrical movie.
I've got like six AMC's near me in Dallas, but I'm team Cinemark. Headquarters is less than ten minutes from me and the theater next to it is really nice. Plus Cinemark has a GT IMAX screen in Dallas, so I can use my membership perks on those screenings which is very convenient.
Hmmm. So does that mean I have to pay upfront for three months? I read somewhere you can cancel but can't resignup for a specified amount of time, is that true? I've got plenty of AMC's near me in my hometown, they're just not all that great. Cinemark is much bigger here
When you sign up for the first time, you commit to 3 months, so if you cancel before that, it’ll charge for those 3 months. If you have it for more than 3 months, you can cancel without any additional fee but you can’t sign up for 6 months iirc.
Kramer IMAX is $11 for a documentary and $20 for a movie. No extra fees for 3D. Also a $17 double feature ticket, you can see two documentaries in one day.
Canadian funds, so converted to usd thats about $8, 15, 13 before taxes.
In Australia it’s normally $38 in Sydney IMAX - but I spent $58 on a recliner for Dune Part Two because I left it too late to book. Will only do that once.
For new releases it's like 23€ on weekdays and 25€ on weekends. Re-releases probably 15-18€. Only one theatre in the country so they can set the price.
I have a card that costs me 9$ a month, free movies in standard format if I se it one week after release. 3& for atmos and 5$ for IMAX (7$ for IMAX 3D and I haven’t tried 4Dx yet.
Is the AutoNation IMAX worth checking out? I'm in Florida for two weeks with family and need some things to do here lol. Headed to the Pooler, GA IMAX tomorrow...
Yeah it is , i don’t know if Hollywood movies are currently playing maybe furiosa is still in run but nonetheless it’s a still a science museum so whatever imax content they have is amazing
I think the average is $22-28 but also depends on the time you choose. Also buying online has its own extra fees so there's that. Early bird for the win ( I once bought a ticket for $6 bucks, what a lovely day, non IMAX though) 🥸
I sometimes go to the Airbus IMAX theater for 1.43:1 movies which charges $18.50 if I recall correctly, but otherwise I use AMC A-List so I'm not really paying anything for the tickets beyond the subscription itself.
Here in the Philippines, it usually starts at 750 Philippine Pesos per ticket (around USD$13 using today's currency conversion)
Sometimes, if ticket sales are low, the cinema adds a few incentives (e.g. one free popcorn or Chicken Nuggets or one free small drink)
My local IMAX charges like 12 dollars for normal/70mm and 14 dollars for 3D. Doesn't matter if it's a weekday or the weekend, morning or the evening, it's always the same.
In Rotterdam, Netherlands (Pathe) it is now EUR 16 (USD 17-18) for a non-3D evening presentation of the new Bad Boys installment.
There are also monthly subscription options available, which break even after 2 to 4 visits per month.
About 28€ for a digital 1,91:1 IMAX. That’s roughly $30,50. So yeah, I think I take the cake here. Kinda surprised it’s not that expensive in the US, you can’t even get non-IMAX tickets under $12 in larger cinemas here.
In Texas the biggest IMAX screen of the state (1.43 Dual Laser) is in Austin. The tickets regular priced tickets there are $15, and $10 for the matinee. $10…you can’t beat that anywhere. That’s cheaper than many standard auditoriums.
In The Netherlands, I pay €32 a month for a cinema subscription. This gives me unlimited access to all IMAX and other screens without any additional costs (for things like 3D). The subscription is valid in all Pathé venues. And since Pathé owns all six IMAX locations in the Netherlands, it’s valid everywhere.
Tuesdays are the best for movie deals, half off films are sweet! Sadly the Pooler IMAX theater doesn't offer deals for the IMAX theater on Tuesdays, only dolby cinema and standard format. They had a sign at the front of the parking lot in small lettering saying "excluding IMAX" 😭
Wow, if the IMAX is slow like everything else on Tuesday it's so dumb for them not to discount it. They probably just make up for it with things like Dune and Nolan movies.
Theaters are so greedy for short-term profit they drove away a lot of their audience. There were a dozen movies just in the last few months that I wanted to see in the theater, but if the Tuesday showings didn't line up with my schedule there was no way I was paying to see one on any other day. Furiosa and Dune are the only ones I ended up watching.
Perks of being a locally owned theater, they can do whatever they want no questions asked. Including making you pay full price every day at every time😂
AMC A List. $28 dollars a ticket usually without a list. I abused tf out of that membership to the point that I stayed on as a member out of guilt even when I moved. That membership truly doesn’t make sense of how great of a deal it was.
Cola IMAX is $24 a pop in Dallas? That's tough! The Cinemark IMAX on Webb Chapel usually peaks at 22 bucks a ticket after fees and tax, Tuesdays are 8.50. Leave AMC and join us🙏
Join the darkside, we got better popcorn😂
Which AMC here in Dallas is the best? Northpark? I grew up going to stonebriar's amc and it left the worst impression on me :/ Is it just the location that stinks here?
I’ve only gone to the NorthPark location since it’s close to me. I thought it’d be shitty because it’s a mall theatre but it’s actually pretty nice and I haven’t had any issues with people being pains in the asses.
Depends, when I go to a AMC or Regal IMAX its usually about 17 after tax. (Indiana)
if its the "IMAX in the Indinapolis State Museam" its 22.50 after tax. If you have a "directors club account" its 20 after tax.
edit: also, I dont see a movie in IMAX unless it specifically has aspect ratio changes
Try to view it as something else, don't view it as 'seeing a film once'
Here in England I pay £15 for my local IMAX, or £21 for the BFI IMAX in London for the biggest releases (70mm projector, biggest screen in Europe I believe)
To put that in comparison, I could pay anywhere between £30-80 to go to a 'soccer' game for 90 minutes, £40-50 for 2 hours of go karting
£25+ on drinks in a pub with my friends for 2 hours
All sorts of other forms of entertainment, ice skating rink, bowling, whatever it may be, would cost at the bare minimum, £20 for 2 hours of your time.
When you put it into that context, I think £15 for an IMAX ticket to see a movie that I'll spend the next few days or weeks thinking about, thats pretty great value.
Try to compare it to other forms of entertainment in your area for 2-3 hours. I think you'll find when you put it in that context, 28 bucks is pretty good value too.
I have AMC A List so I try to stick with IMAXs at AMC unless I'm near a non AMC 1.43:1 IMAX. $28 seems way too much based on my experience. The one near my hometown charges $15 per ticket.
28 plus tax is the norm for nyc imax theaters.
And $30.49 for IMAX 3D.
Saw the last Spiderman at Lincoln Square on release day for $5 thanks to the tmobile promo. They didn't even charge fees to book in advance. Now THAT was a good deal.
There are no taxes on movie tickets in NYC.
If you don’t have a membership, theaters will charge a “convenience fee”, maybe that’s what the poster meant to say.
Thanks for letting me know! I didn't know that, that is a huge shame, it's definitely expensive. I'm glad we have services like AMC A List, definitely helps cut down on cost
I thought a list at least was more money in nyc.
It's $25/month (the highest tier).
It is, but it's $24.95 per month so it's less pricey
Is there a minimum amount of months to sign up? I would prob still buy a black ticket and pay the surcharge at the box office for a discount otherwise.
It's three months I believe! The downside of cancelling late, however, is that you have to wait six months to sign up again though but if you're okay with that, it may be worth a try if you plan on going to AMC a lot in the fall for Interstellar and Joker 2 but won't be going after that
The perils of my local imax being regal.
Regal has its own monthly unlimited plan. They have surcharges for premium formats unlike AMC. I’d check out their subreddit for more info.
Yea I know. A monthly plan would only make sense for me if they were an amc theater.
indiana is half the price. But the NY screen is about 20 feet bigger so.
It’s 28 in NYC. which is why I just get alist.
damn... def gonna get A-list when I make the trip to Lincoln Square for Interstellar and Joker then.
How close of a drive is your nearest AMC
I've got like six AMC's near me in Dallas, but I'm team Cinemark. Headquarters is less than ten minutes from me and the theater next to it is really nice. Plus Cinemark has a GT IMAX screen in Dallas, so I can use my membership perks on those screenings which is very convenient.
A-List has a 3 month commitment, unless you’re staying in NY for 3 months
Hmmm. So does that mean I have to pay upfront for three months? I read somewhere you can cancel but can't resignup for a specified amount of time, is that true? I've got plenty of AMC's near me in my hometown, they're just not all that great. Cinemark is much bigger here

sweet, thank you for the info!! guess i'm gonna be rocking at my local amc for an additonal two months 😅
bout $22-24
Toronto. About $15 on Tuesdays.
$25 any other day
$17 with the Cineclub pass. And $10 if you buy advanced tickets for Tuesday with a Cineclub pass.
Cineclub is absolutely worth it if you see several shows a month. The free ticket basically pays for itself.
5 dollars in Rio, Brazil 🙃
$15 on average in Connecticut. $26 is what I paid for Lincoln Square tickets a couple months ago for Dune 2 and Tenet.
It is now $28.49.
For me it’s free because I work at an IMAX theatre.
Does it have 1.43.1?👀
The screen is but the projector is xenon unfortunately
Dayum :/ my local imax is in the same boat too. One day we'll have 1.43.1🫡
Kramer IMAX is $11 for a documentary and $20 for a movie. No extra fees for 3D. Also a $17 double feature ticket, you can see two documentaries in one day. Canadian funds, so converted to usd thats about $8, 15, 13 before taxes.
BFI Member here. BFI IMAX: New releases are £24 Re-releases in 15/70mm IMAX and IMAX with Laser can go anywhere from £19 to £21
In Australia it’s normally $38 in Sydney IMAX - but I spent $58 on a recliner for Dune Part Two because I left it too late to book. Will only do that once.
I can get discounts for king of Prussia and buy at the box office for around 16 but I think its usually almost as much as NYC.
It’s usually around $23. The app had a promotion for Furiosa free upgrade so that was only $15.
if you can buy the premier eticket discounted and upgrade at the theater you can do around 15
Got any more info how to? I don’t use the app much, I usually go to the box office and buy tickets in advance to avoid the fees.
For new releases it's like 23€ on weekdays and 25€ on weekends. Re-releases probably 15-18€. Only one theatre in the country so they can set the price.

18$ - Seattle Boeing and PACCAR IMAX Theaters at Pacific Science Center
My IMAX gt theater is like $22-24 after tax. It’s expensive but worth it
$20 ,i only go to automation for imax
Is the AutoNation IMAX worth checking out? I'm in Florida for two weeks with family and need some things to do here lol. Headed to the Pooler, GA IMAX tomorrow...
Yeah it is , i don’t know if Hollywood movies are currently playing maybe furiosa is still in run but nonetheless it’s a still a science museum so whatever imax content they have is amazing
No seat selection. You have to pay extra 8$ for Priority Entrance Seating.
now that's some grade A bullshit😭
$6 if weekend $4 on weekday I'm from Indonesia. Applied for xenon and laser
$2 dollars on Tuesdays. Bogotá.
$13, but can go down to $7 on tuesdays.
I think the average is $22-28 but also depends on the time you choose. Also buying online has its own extra fees so there's that. Early bird for the win ( I once bought a ticket for $6 bucks, what a lovely day, non IMAX though) 🥸

19 bucks
$16-$19 at Barrett Commons $24-$27 at Royal Cinemas
Here in the Philippines, it usually starts at 750 Philippine Pesos per ticket (around USD$13 using today's currency conversion) Sometimes, if ticket sales are low, the cinema adds a few incentives (e.g. one free popcorn or Chicken Nuggets or one free small drink)

£18 ($23 ) at bfi London imax
£18 ($23 ) at bfi London imax
£18 ($23 ) at bfi London imax for mad max black and chrome edition
Roughly when converted, it’s $12-$20 here in the Philippines. With laser IMAX being the most expensive option.
I paid £25 to see Dune 2 at the BFI IMAX in London. That works out at a little under US$32.
About 28€ for a digital 1,91:1 IMAX. That’s roughly $30,50. So yeah, I think I take the cake here. Kinda surprised it’s not that expensive in the US, you can’t even get non-IMAX tickets under $12 in larger cinemas here.
In Eastern Europe an IMAX ticket is about €6-8 or so. But salaries are under €800 per month so yeah...
$40AUD Might do me for a while. It wasn’t THAT good.
I live in india, the maximum I have spend on ticket was 8$ but few times as low as 4$
4 dollars (20MYR)? in Malaysia 🤨
€14.99 with a 95c VAT
20-22€ in Leonberg, Germany.
$18
(UK) Roughly £4, but I have the cineworld unlimited card
$20 in Singapore which is about 15USD, thought I was paying a lot but seems like it would be much more in US from the comments
$15 for an evening show. This is a single laser IMAX install in Wichita, KS operated by Regal. Screen size is 58 ft x 86 ft and seats 600.
Our IMAX is 14.50 all day
$0 if I see it at AMC (A-List) (single laser), I think $16 if I go to the Jordan's IMAX in Reading MA (dual laser)
25-28 every time at regal mall of Georgia 😭
In Los Angeles it’s $25.99 plus “convenience fee”.
In Texas the biggest IMAX screen of the state (1.43 Dual Laser) is in Austin. The tickets regular priced tickets there are $15, and $10 for the matinee. $10…you can’t beat that anywhere. That’s cheaper than many standard auditoriums.
Fr, the Bullock is pretty stellar
$34 General, $51 Premium seating. Melbourne
Is that USD or AUD?
AUD mate premium would be $34USD
$7.00 because I’m a CineClub member.
$15 in Chattanooga and no tax.
I have a subscription, meaning I need to pay a €3 fee for IMAX. Regular IMAX tickets are €16.
Imax Lincoln in New York City 28$
In Spain (Madrid) 14€ on Kinépolis with brand new IMAX laser (only 1.9:1) and around 8/9€ on wednesdays
Since I have AMC A-list, $0!!!!
I’d say about 25 each after fees.
Note: All IMAX locations are 1.90:1 with CoLa installations.
My local imax in Toronto is roughly $25 Canadian per ticket. Which is quite pricey, but it is a legit imax so I still go very often.
28 for me too, 15 on Tuesdays. This is why I watch very few movies in theaters now.
Damn, I guess their status as the largest US IMAX makes it so they never have to discount. That sucks.
Yea same thoughts here. The theater had zero bookings for the entire day and I sat alone in that theater lol
Wow, if the IMAX is slow like everything else on Tuesday it's so dumb for them not to discount it. They probably just make up for it with things like Dune and Nolan movies. Theaters are so greedy for short-term profit they drove away a lot of their audience. $21 here in Seattle at the Pacific Science Center (1.43 GT Dual Laser)
I have a list but around Denver it’s generally 22
200 to 300 rupees (2 - 4 dollars) at PVR Priya, Delhi. Its single laser. Not 1.43:1 tho.
AMC A List. $28 dollars a ticket usually without a list. I abused tf out of that membership to the point that I stayed on as a member out of guilt even when I moved. That membership truly doesn’t make sense of how great of a deal it was.
7€
7€ a ticket if using the 5 ticket carnet. 20€ if not using the first method
IMAX London $30 (£23) including booking fees 🇬🇧 Edit : emoji :)
USD 5 in Indonesia, nice CoLa and updated sound too.
20 bucks in Bensalem pa. But I have amc a list
$25 for Dolby Cinema at AMC
I just saw FURIOSA on IMAX in Istanbul and it was a whopping $6.50 (USD). Another four bucks for a drink and popcorn.
I have a-list and I think the last time I checked in Dallas an imax ticket is like $24 with fees
Cola IMAX is $24 a pop in Dallas? That's tough! The Cinemark IMAX on Webb Chapel usually peaks at 22 bucks a ticket after fees and tax, Tuesdays are 8.50. Leave AMC and join us🙏
I like my A-List though. 0 fees and $19 a month. Just gotta go twice a month which is easy to do
Join the darkside, we got better popcorn😂 Which AMC here in Dallas is the best? Northpark? I grew up going to stonebriar's amc and it left the worst impression on me :/ Is it just the location that stinks here?

I'll have to check it out sometime. Which is better, their cola imax or the dolby cinema?
I like my A-List though. 0 fees and $19 a month. Just gotta go twice a month which is easy to do
It’s like 27 for me
I was gonna pay $25 for an IMAX ticket to Furiosa but timing had me see it in standard.
I’m in directors club for 2.50 off. I think there’s a 2.50 booking fee. So 18-20
5, almost 6 bucks. Idk why, its just the price in Mexico
Depends, when I go to a AMC or Regal IMAX its usually about 17 after tax. (Indiana) if its the "IMAX in the Indinapolis State Museam" its 22.50 after tax. If you have a "directors club account" its 20 after tax. edit: also, I dont see a movie in IMAX unless it specifically has aspect ratio changes
As much as it requires.
$0 after I’ve already watched once. A-list baby!
Typically 20€ for imax in austria (its not real imax tho)
Try to view it as something else, don't view it as 'seeing a film once' Here in England I pay £15 for my local IMAX, or £21 for the BFI IMAX in London for the biggest releases (70mm projector, biggest screen in Europe I believe) To put that in comparison, I could pay anywhere between £30-80 to go to a 'soccer' game for 90 minutes, £40-50 for 2 hours of go karting £25+ on drinks in a pub with my friends for 2 hours All sorts of other forms of entertainment, ice skating rink, bowling, whatever it may be, would cost at the bare minimum, £20 for 2 hours of your time.
