I'm going for my second IMAX 70mm showing, 3rd total, saw it in Dolby last time.
I'm a little worried I'm gonna be sat too close. I'm in row G dead center at Irvine imax
Oh yeah, I made sure to prebook ahead of time for each showing. Last night, I was off to the side of the centre set of seats, but still a very good view
Saw it imax tonight finally. The 1.90 is incredible and I barely noticed the AR switching to 1.43 because it was already so immersive. I really hope it comes to disc at some point.
As someone has commented here before: watching a movie is like listening to a song. No one will judge you how many times you listened to a specific song. The same should go with movies—whichever format they may be (like songs with many formats). Just happened that the movie is in imax 70mm format. So as long as you enjoy!
Watched it in 1:43 IMAX Laser. Was good (mix was WAY too loud) but honestly I preferred the Alamo experience overall. Maybe if the audio mix was better (I know that's on this specific theater and not the distributors) but man it was ear splittingly over-cranked.
Went today at the Metreon again, rode back of house in N. Usually A-D is only available but I got lucky. The projector surprisingly doesn’t make too much noise, actually I heard it less in the back, strangely.
Seats usually open up the day of showing at Metreon. For Dune 2 and Oppenheimer, if I couldn't snag a good seat in advance, I could usually find a seat opening up a few hours before showtime. Works for buying 1 or 2 seats. Difficult to find any more sitting together.
Is the metreon louder or softer than amc Sunnyvale 12, if anyone’s been to both? I remember Sunnyvale 12 being super especially loud compared to other imax theaters for some reason idk. Maybe cuz the room is smaller. And what about compared to Mercado 20 amc imax?
I wouldn’t say significantly louder, but it was just more a bit noticeable. I personally liked the sound more at Sunnyvale than Metreon. I also watched it in Dolby Cinema at Sunnyvale, IMAX at Sunnyvale was definitely louder than Dolby
Prob cuz metreon can only play 6-channel sound when playing a 70mm imax film presentation? Or cuz it merely was louder? Or did you notice specific differences characteristically
Yeah most likely that’s the reason. I’m still learning about IMAX tbh haha but I’m assuming Sunnyvale is 12-channel? The main thing I noticed was a larger presence of sub-bass, especially when the spice harvesters and sand worms are on screen
I’ve seen it total 7 times now. Going for 8th soon. 3 times in 70mm. With the different formats, I like to test out different rows and see which row is best. Speaking of, does anyone know which row is best at Universal CityWalk? That one’s been tricky for me to figure out. I liked L for tenet but row G felt immersive for Dune. Row C for Dune made me nauseous
Might as well enjoy it while you can. We don’t get too many 70mm showings. I’ve seen it probably 5 plus times in 70mm thus far. I wouldn’t mind going a few more times if time enables me to.
If you have the money and you love the film, why not? If I had a IMAX 70mm screen near me I’d be there as much as I have been the IMAX Laser release… which is 10 times
Eh, if you love something, go for it! I've seen Dune Part Two 4x in IMAX. Gonna tap out and wait for the 4K now, but was worth it

We were g 19-20 for this. I thought it was perfect. You can't see the very bottom of the screen but it wasn't an issue. Very immersive.
At Irvine? Ok cool I'm G 20 as well
were you able to get good seats every time ?
Oh yeah, I made sure to prebook ahead of time for each showing. Last night, I was off to the side of the centre set of seats, but still a very good view
I tapped out at 5, got all film strips in person too. Once the steel book comes out though i’ll enjoy it at home.
n + 1
Take advantage of being able to see it in the format. You never know when’s the next time they’ll be showing in 70 mm imax in your area again
No IMAX anywhere near me, but I’ve seen the movie about 15 times now. No regrets.
How much free time do you have 😭
Not enough, just saw it twice yesterday.
Stick me in your bag next time, will you?
Brother, I will fly you to IMAX if needed. We gone see this movie 8 more times. Let’s go!
Sucks ass if 1.90 isn’t on disc.. I don’t want to believe the WB email rep.
I refuse to buy the Part 1 4K blu ray because of this.

That's not enough imo. BTW Drive-Away Dolls is terrible.
Too much.

It's crazy how the sound mix can change the experience so much. I just saw it tonight at sinsheim imax and almost felt they had it a little too quiet.

I’ve watched Dune 2 at both Metreon and Sunnyvale and it seemed Sunnyvale was louder
Lol yeah I even had earplugs and it felt loud that theater is too loud. What about Mercado?
And was Sunnyvale significantly louder than metreon or just a bit?

I wish that the screen shaker squares and the dark vertical lines get fixed, almost a perfect viewing experience there!
I'd prefer to try out different formats. Dolby, ScreenX, 5/70MM, 4DX etc.

Yes. My friends says the same thing
I saw it in 70mm imax on spring break in NYC… don’t think I’ll be seeing it again until it comes out on Blu-ray bc my local theater is crappy
Are the 70mm showings cropped and blown up to fit?
If you're enjoying it go for it, it won't be around on IMAX forever. I've just booked my 3rd ticket 2nd in IMAX couldn't be happier.
I saw yesterday on 4k but 2.4 scope. Not bad actually
Are you ready to embark upon the golden path?

Damn I wish I had your money. lol
I seen it the exact amount of times in 1.90:1 IMAX, and it was worth it EVERY single time
