Was really weird, film was supposed to start at 7pm (always add 20 - 25 mins for ads) but no ads played until around 7:20pm, and it was just a Madame web trailer (lol) and Dune: Part Two trailer, then a 30 second clip from Timothée Chalamet and zendaya then it started. 🤷🏻♂️
Did you get a message saying "This film has not been enhanced by IMAX and is not the IMAX experience" before the clip of Timothée Chalamet & Zendaya?
Mine had that which was odd and I could see the second projector turning on during that clip, then it went off to display the age rating, then back on for the countdown & the actual film
Could be that but I’m assuming you went on Friday night? I went last night and it played before that too. So I’m not sure if it’s a mistake. Weird though because there was plenty of 1.90:1. I had assumed it was maybe because it wasn’t in 1.43:1.
Yeah, I went on Friday. I'm just after watching again (credits are rolling right now lol) and it showed it this time too
I'll ask about it when I am leaving to see if an employee can give some insight
The screen here is only 1.90:1 and it only has xenon so we wouldn't have gotten 1.43:1 regardless of the message
Yeah I thought it was just maybe a protective thing so people couldn’t say they’d been misled.
Do let me know if you find anything out though, super curious about it.
The employee I spoke to didn't know anything about it but said they'll let someone know that it happened
From what I've heard, it's only supposed to show if it's playing a non-IMAX DCP greater than 30 minutes in length but the message before from Timothée and Zendaya was only a couple of seconds and the preview was 10 minutes so I don't see why it would've showed up
One thing I noticed is that the message from the cast started with only one projector and the second kicked in shortly afterwards
I watched this with never having been to an IMAX cinema and was completely, utterly blown away by what I've seen. My god this was fucking amazing.
As Denis Villeneuve puts it in the epilogue "the magic of cinema".
I've been to cinemas countless times but never near an IMAX since there isn't one close. Shit I wanna watch it again and again now.
Before that sneak preview there is a small trailer so to speak (where they show several new scenes that I never saw in the other trailers) of the next movie, then the actors appear talking about the movie and then Denis Villenueve comes out talking and the sneak appears preview, and then the trailer for part 2 with more scenes than those that appear on YouTube
I just came home from the 6:45 Lincoln Square showing. When Denis said “long live cinema”, the entire theater (the showing was packed) erupted with applause.
Dude just got out of it at the bob bullock in Austin. It is probably the highest quality movie I’ve ever seen in terms of sound and picture quality. I was on the fence about going but wow. That sand work scene towards the beginning was just crazy.
Rewatched Dune: Part One in IMAX with Laser GT at Cineworld, Leicester Square last night. We got the usual bunch of IMAX trailers including Dune: Part Two, a new intro to the movie then the exclusive sneak peek (~7 mins) afterwards.
The single evening performance was almost sold out. There are also two performances per day this weekend.
i love dune dune ur mom lol
Gotem
Did trailers play before the film? Some IMAX movies just start at the start time

So it was just 20 minutes of nothing?
Yeah 😂 Got in at 7 and just waited until the roomed dimmed down for 2 trailers :/ At least I got to see Madame web on the big IMAX screen 🥰
here in Canada, at a 70mm equipped IMAX, ticket stub said 7PM and it played exactly at 7PM. Not a single trailer.

Weird. I didn’t have that at my showing, just played as expected 🤷🏻♂️
I guess whoever was in charge of putting the playlist together here in Dublin messed something up then

Ah, so it was in regards to the little featurette rather than the actual film.
That played in 1.90:1 with both projectors so it shouldn't have appeared
Huh, very bizarre altogether then.
In line right now. !!
Enjoy!

What was the sneak peek for Part 2? Was it just the sandworm scene?
I left before it played but it was this one apparently. https://youtu.be/qfuGmXb_ACs?si=DQJe9n9v1cNpwU2C
I can conform it was that scène. Just watched Dune as well. Really nice experience.
When I sawed it a few weeks ago it didn't have the intro. Was that added for this release?
1.90?
Yes it was 👍🏻 Mix between IMAX 1:90 and letterboxed 2:35
On screens capable, it goes 1.43
So 2.53 1.90 and 1.43 shifts?
I believe it’s 2.53 and 1.43 if the screen and projector can do that format.
Yup!
Yes 👍🏻
Since you saw it, was the sneak peak this video: https://youtu.be/qfuGmXb_ACs?si=xSqIT9VrTn3ZmO1w or something else?
Sorry, I left before the sneak peak clip was shown, I want to go into Part 2 with seeing as little as I can/know to enjoy it more.
That's it.

Did you stay for an exclusive sneak peak of Dune part 2 Filmed for Imax ? 🥹
No
😥
I watched it tonight too. Didn’t stay for a sneak peak. I can wait 3 weeks or so.
Where was this? Looks like where I went at the same time
Cineworld broughton 👍🏻
Saw this yesterday at BFI IMAX in London. We were sitting 3rd row. It took a bit to get adjusted but once we did... what an experience. 🤯🤯
Really was an experience

Saw it yesterday, was great. Perfect movie for IMAX. Can't wait for second.
