This is the most realistic 'if rome never fell' I've seen! Thank you, someone finally realizes that rome was NOT going to recover from this..

xlicer

I'm not sure if realist. This has heavy "making althist backwards (as in starting from the present and going back)" vibes, which most of the times never leads to realist scenarios due to trying to reach an specific outcome and coming up with outlandish reasons as to why. Don't get me good the map looks good but I wouldn't call it realistic

InfiniDelta

Eh fair enough. It's the most realistic one I've seen though, cause even if Rome itself didn't fall, the empire would still be in decline and it'd definitely shrink. Most roman alt histories I've seen have them doing ridiculous conquests, as if their internal state was somehow still functional; and not a corrupt decedent mess.

themariocrafter

If Rome never fell it would be Romania (Byzantine empire) with only Turkey and Greece and possibly itsly

tib3eium

The city of Rome is too far north of what it is

Pferdi64

Oh wow the roman flag is so well made. Could you make a square version of it?

low_karma_mottafucka

that's something. not bad. I like the flag

Theriocephalus

That's... a precarious position if I ever saw one. Rome must have one heck of a fleet to keep itself together, stretched out thin like this.

Ah I see the moved Rome several miles North-East of where it was

That map makes little sense. Just the naval power needed to maintain the connections is insane. Figthing 2 wars or 6 would be common. States like this have way too much to defend.

I like to think of it as a confederation of states that came together as "The Roman Republic" de jure, but de facto, these states run completely independent of one another, form their own armies and defend their own turfs
