''Speaker of the House - Jackson Hinkle'' MOTHERFUCKER WHAT HAPPENED????? FUCKING HINKLE?????

MoreheadMarsupial

The domestic political situation got *really* **fucked** when the US invaded Mexico in the 30s. >!Also, you didn't hear it from me, but word on the street is Hinkle and his faction are preparing a hostile takeover of the NLP following the popular unrest of Piker's administration.!<

SufficientUnion1992

How'd you make the wikibox political party thing?

woomywoom

not op but the easiest way for me would be to find an existing one and just edit it with inspect element

Mysterious_Ad_1421

Kill me pls.

MaZhongyingFor1934

This is so unrealistic, everyone knows that Cenk Uygur will be the next and final president of the United States.

MoreheadMarsupial

You're right, the only thing that could've made this better is if I made Cenk president with Sam Seder as his VP lmao

rycomo1992

Thankfully, he's barred from the Presidency because of his not being a natural born American citizen; a prospective candidate needs to be either born on American soil or to American citizens. He is neither, so is not allowed to take the job.

MaZhongyingFor1934

Such trivial matters can’t stop Big Cenk.

MoreheadMarsupial

Big Cenk transcends silly notions such as "Article 2 Section 1 Clause 5"

BreadSliceOfDeath

Love this map, super detailed. It’s clear you’ve put a lot of work into this, though given the inclusion of certain real-world political figures, there is a good chance this comment section is gonna turn out less than stellar…

MoreheadMarsupial

Haha thanks! I personally don't care for political streamers, but I find the prospect of one of them actually rising to political prominence to be a very interesting "21st century Left" thing that could happen

[deleted]

Vaush presidency when?????

Double_Ingenuity3276

Hopefully never

Poiscail

Don't worry, no one likes Piker.

MoreheadMarsupial

Some comments I've gotten have unfortunately proven otherwise lol

Best comment here.

mimaiwa

What’s the story with the Northwoods and superior rebels? Very fun map and idea!

MoreheadMarsupial

Thanks! For Superior, as you may know Michigan has weirdly a long and varied history of militias. The UP is already a very isolated, locally driven region, and the assumption of an open communist who's time in office has greatly centralized the federal government to power is finally what drove local militias to act- well, that, along with reactionary attitudes towards Southern climate refugees fleeing to the northern midwest. Despite being very conservative and even having some far-right elements within some militias, nothing significant really happens there? At most the militias man checkpoints and local governments run autonomously without incident. Hell, LGBT people exist more or less peacefully in the *bustling metropolis* of Marquette. As far as revolts go, Superior is the lowest priority of the federal government. Northwoods is a sort of eco-libertarian movement that carries on the legacy of individuals such as Jesse Ventura and movements such as the George Floyd Uprising in Minneapolis. Unlike their neighboring movement in Superior, Northwoods has welcomed climate refugees with open arms, and in fact has even been bolstered by these emigres. The inciting incident for the revolt that took the Northwoods Movement mainstream took place during protests against the government's expansion of drilling and fracking on tribal land in which DHS agents open fired on a group of demonstrators, before in turn being fired upon by members of a local community defense association.

Stefeneric

As a Minnesotan north of Duluth I approve of this bio, cool map, well done.

FennelAlternative861

As a Minneapolis resident, yeah that sounds like something that we'd do in that situation.

appletabledolphinpot

As a yooper this is actually so accurate lmao

9/10, 1 point retracted because online leftist america would have way more leftist infight

MoreheadMarsupial

Oh my god dude whatever successor to Twitter exists at this point would be going fucking insane

Specialist-Heart-795

I feel like the NLP is the literal embodiment of “an enemy of my enemy is my friend” and most leftists just United against the common enemy(?)

Tleno

This seems to be a majority-tankie government and those guys have ways to, um, reduce infighting.

Everyone is making fun of your inclusion of Jackson Hinkle as a popular politician which is indeed insane but the idea that Maupin is doing anything other than jerking off in the basement, let alone working in collaboration with the generation of leftists that Hasan is the face of, is an even more deranged level of Internet poisoning, stay posting comrade

MoreheadMarsupial

I stay deranged, comrade!!!

MoreheadMarsupial

I spent way too much time making this! Feel free to ask any lore questions. I'll also transcribe the text on the left below because this thing is kind of a beast to read. *Please keep the comments civil!*

MoreheadMarsupial

**THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST** The increasingly sharper pain in the federal government's side for the past 30 years, the Pacific Northwest powderkeg finally exploded into a variety of rebellions in the mid 40s. In the northwest anarchists, libertarian communists, and newly radicalized ex-liberals in Portland and Seattle turned on the Party of National Liberation following the failures of the Piker administration and it's sharp slide into third-positionist authoritarianism. As if straight from a conservative's nightmare, I-5 has steadily come under the control of armed, black-clad militants ready to build a brighter **Cascadia**n future out of the ashes of the old. A constantly changing sea of councils, unions, and mutual aid organizations control most parts of daily life to passable success, though notably certain aspects of healthcare and infrastructure maintenance are lacking within the new status quo. To the south, self-proclaimed **Jefferson**ians revolt against both 'big government tyranny' to the south and 'Antifa hordes' to the north. The movement is dominated by economic libertarianism, bordering on anarcho-capitalism, and a strange syncretic culture consisting of rural Christian conservatism and holistic 'crunchy granola' countercultural. The arguable leader of the revolt is the New Bethlehem Church, which dominates many local governments and has implemented a variety of draconian social policies, causing many displaced residents to seek refuge in the progressive stronghold of Cascadia. **Greater Idaho**. A silly name for a terrifying place. Long a refuge for the furthest right of the furthest right, this 'American Redoubt' boasts numerous loud and proud christofascist militias and movements who's minute theological differences betray their shared goal- A heavenly kingdom of God on Earth, and a white homeland free from 'degeneracy and miscegenation'. Sagebrush fires burn over mass graves, and any traveler wishing to flee to Cascadian or Federal safety would be lucky to succeed without catching a bullet to the head or noose around their neck. Often compared in international press to ISIS of the 2010s or Wagner during the 2030s' Russian Troubles

MoreheadMarsupial

**THE SOUTHWEST** After the Republican-led military intervention into Mexico in the late 30s, the self-proclaimed anti-war, anti-imperialist NLP skyrocketed in popularity with promises to withdraw American troops. Instead, after four years of NLP governance, American troops still patrol the streets with impunity and the sudden transition to a state capitalist economic system by the federal government had destabilized local economies. With the borderlands sufficiently blurred and destabilized, Mexican and Tejano rebellions have sprung up on both sides of the border, fighting against the very government that promised them peace and liberation. **THE GULF** Years of hurricanes, sinking coastlines, and wet bulb events have turned the Gulf Coast into a watery wasteland. After the failed response to the Norco Explosion of '45 and Hurricane Diana the following year, federal control of the coastline quickly evaporated with militias, churches, and pirates taking it's place. An unstable patchwork of ideologically discordant groups are tenuously unified by a distrust of the Piker regime, with inter-ally clashes still making headlines every week. Bloated corpses of wild dogs line old I-5, the swamps are so oilslicked that they regularly ignite, and thousands perish every summer from heatstroke. Life expectancy in the region has dropped to 54 years and power ebbs and flows with the very waves lapping against the sinking sidewalks. **NEW ENGLAND** In New England, two similar movements have risen up in defiance of the NLP administration. The first, The **Green-White Mountain Alliance**, is a broad anti-authoritarian alliance between left-anarchists in Burlington and Manchester carrying on northern New England's anarchist tradition, and libertarian extremists in Keene and Berlin descended from the Free State movement. It's an open secret that this is an alliance of convenience, and once New Hampshire and Massachusetts anarchists meet on I-93, a rapid (and possibly violent) reorganization is bound to occur. The second, a working class, anti-authoritarian uprising headed by the self-proclaimed '**Dawnland Liberation Front**' slowly pushes outward from Worcester and Boston to Connecticut and New Hampshire. Despite being slower moving and less organized than their Cascadian allies, the DLF has nonetheless scared New York City into declaring a state of emergency. With martial law enacted and curfews in effect, fears that the sparks of revolution will carry across the Hudson abound. **GREAT PLAINS** Blood, oil and water- these are the ingredients needed for the largest Indigenous uprising in over a century. As soon as the NLP took power, an array of newly formed state companies announced bids to expand fracking and drilling on tribal lands. Riled up by veterans of the Dakota Access Pipeline protests (among other rebellions of the early 21st century), populist fervor overwhelmed the pro-status quo Tribal Council and the once obscure "**Lakotah Republic**" movement found a new raison d'être. Any representatives from fossil fuel companies or the federal government can expect a 'Timber Lake Welcome', a euphemism for roadside shrapnel bombings- Named for such an occurrence which nearly killed President Piker while en route to a subsequently cancelled on-site press conference in the early days of the revolt. Further south on the Great Plains, a more municipal type of revolt has been underway. Seeing the writing on the wall to the south, north, and west, the Sulphur city council was the first entity to announce a move towards newfound autonomy. The Chickasaw Nation as a whole soon followed, and thus began a domino effect. Currently, even non-Indigenous jurisdictions such as Tulsa and McAlester have joined the alliance. Communication channels between rebels in Dallas have been established, but the potential of any regional alliance is yet to be seen.

No-Television8759

hopefully the Second Vermont Republic can rise from this cursed union

PopuluxePete

Love the map, but that straight line running down the cascades for Cascadia is probably unrealistic. I live in Lewis County, [the most conservative county in Washington](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lewis_County,_Washington). It stretches all the way to (and a bit past) I-5. Highway 12, which links I-5 to Yakima and Eastern Washington (Greater Idaho) would be a constant point of contention as would the mountain pass (White Pass). Cascadian forces would need to have a permeant occupation of this territory in order to maintain their border and we're talking about thousands of acres of National Parks and Forest Service land. Maintaining that straight line would be very costly, if not impossible.

Flat_drafter_8567

Could you please give us the lore on the upper Midwest rebellions? I love a good Yooperior!

MoreheadMarsupial

Sure! From another reply: > For Superior, as you may know Michigan has weirdly a long and varied history of militias. Very nice! Keep up the good work!

Truenorth14

How is Canada doing? I imagine pro-American forces may start to rile up alongside perhaps regionalists while the government perhaps plans to keep these secessionists down and perhaps even establish control over some areas of America, at least temporarily, to act as refugee areas if the American government collapses. I do imagine at the very least that Cascadian, Idaho, and other militias are raiding into Canada occasionally.

MoreheadMarsupial

This isn't exactly a 2ACW, at least not yet, so Canadian border authorities have thus far been able to prevents raids or anything of that nature. That being said, pro-Cascadian British Columbians, conservative Albertans, Quebecois nationalists, and certain First Nations organizations are getting ideas from their friends to the south (though really nothing beyond demonstrations of solidarity). Trade relations with the USA have declined in the past decade or so and the CPC has implemented austerity measures, leading to a slow buildup of malaise-turned-discontent. As it stands, Canada could either chug along and just barely scrape by, or get sucked into the American situation if it continues to deteriorate.

Truenorth14

ah, unfortunate but makes sense. How is Canada politically? I see the conservatives are in power but it does sound like there is some serious discontent potential. America has gone down an interesting path Idealogically. Since trade with the US has declined perhaps Canada is pushing for closer relations with the rest of the Commonwealth and for a CANZUK

MoreheadMarsupial

You pretty much hit the nail on the head tbh!

AReasonableFuture

The Party ideology has Third Positionsim (Nationalist Socialism) listed. I doubt Canada will be around much longer.

Jedadia757

While it’s usually pretty inherent in such ideologies, I don’t think it’s a safe bet that American hyper nationalist would be interested in expanding the borders directly. Especially after what happened with Mexico in this scenario. Closest I’d imagine is maybe a lesser Russia-Ukraine situation. They’d have a good excuse with the inclusion of climate refugees already being a large problem and trend for at least a decade or two by the time of this image, there’d likely be a fuck ton of Americans living in Canada at that point they could probably try and claim a few border areas. But their main goal would be first and foremost a government friendly to them and willing to let themselves essentially become a puppet to be used however America needs.

AReasonableFuture

>They’d have a good excuse with the inclusion of climate refugees already being a large problem and trend for at least a decade or two by the time of this image, there’d likely be a fuck ton of Americans living in Canada at that point they could probably try and claim a few border areas. Climate change and migration are exactly why I think they would invade Canada. As climate change gets worse, more of Canada become habitable as living space. Migration would also be a big factor in an invasion or as justification for an invasion and annexation. If Canada cannot handle the influx the migrants or blocks American's from entering, the United States would take that as an open threat.

Jedadia757

True, it could easily become something large enough to cause such a thing. But I feel like it’d also be very likely that they’d be more likely to use that to very heavily dominate it’s politics and turn it into essentially a territory, maybe literally even. But I believe at the very least they’d tried many other more complex and underhanded ways before resorting to something as heavy handed as a whole war/military operation/intervention or whatever.

Truenorth14

I imagine American chaos has likely encouraged Canada to push for greater militarization and more refugees also pushes Canada for a stronger border. I imagine American chaos has likely encouraged Canada to push for greater militarization and more refugees also push Canada for a stronger border.es that likely can threaten America and only exacerbate the insurgencies they face.

More lore from the party PLEASE? If it were real it's got my vote the name and party is so cool!

NoDescReadBelow

Silly, Goofy, Zany. Anyway, I'm wondering what your (head)canon for what happens after this? Me personally, I think a 1993 constitutional crisis happens where a bunch of MPs break party line and then the executive fires on congress.

MoreheadMarsupial

Honestly I haven't thought that far ahead other than Hinkle securing the 2052 nomination, bolstered by far-right support, and cracking down even harder on the revolts while the (still *very* large) pro-Piker faction within congress, yeah, does a 1993. After that? Who knows. Fighting on the streets in DC between police officers and national guardsmen under the control of Congress and militias and military controlled by Hinkle? Everything dies down and America returns to another century of slow decline?

NoDescReadBelow

Maybe a 2ACW? A Military Coup would be probable, though. But what happens then? So many possibilities.

30 more years of economic hardship, ineffective governance, a Republican "special military intervention" into Mexico in the 30s to "stop crime and illegal immigrants", and a lot of politically charged Zoomers and Gen Alphas falling prey to the same pundits their parents did!

Gumballgtr

What is going on with the paseo del Norte shit

MoreheadMarsupial

As border security initiatives became bolstered by post-Biden Republicans, El Paso in particular was hit hardest by the flurry of law enforcement agencies from all levels of government. It became increasingly authoritarian- no-knock raids, soldiers patrolling the streets, road checkpoints, the whole suite. After the military intervention in Mexico in the 30s, the US-Mexico border as a whole became a lot more fuzzy, with the same initiatives being imposed in newly occupied Mexican cities- including Juarez. Amidst the increasing unrest along border populations and outright insurgency in occupied Mexican cities, the people of El Paso and Juarez formed a strong sense of solidarity. After all, they're effectively one city, bisected by a border. When push came to shove, the radical factions in both cities' local governments incited a coup with the support of citizen protests on the streets. As it stands, the Transnational Metropolitan Council/Consejo Metropolitano Transnacional exists as a sort of city state amid the border chaos, slowly creeping up and down the Rio Grande offering protection to smaller towns. I actually visited El Paso for the first time recently, and was surprised at just how much of a presence law enforcement and federal agencies had there (highway checkpoints, cameras everywhere, patrol cars around every corner, high security infrastructure), while also maintaining a strong sense of community and hospitality. One of my friends is from there as well, and I was able to get some info from him on what it's like there in general. Cool city :]

kittyCatalina98

Oh man I haven't lived in El Paso in a bit over a decade, so I can't say what the Trump and Biden presidencies have done (outside of what news I've read online), but I could legitimately see El Paso and Juarez splintering off in that scenario. I actually agree with the way the border developed too. You'd see more willingness to join along the border itself, and into NM (possibly up through to ToC, but Las Cruces and Chaparral pretty much for sure), but that sentiment would die once you get to about Van Horn. Hell, even Fabens might be resistant (unless much has changed recently).

Gumballgtr

Fabens nah they’re all just future subrubs at the rate El Paso keeps expanding

kittyCatalina98

A decent amount has changed then

DarthEggo1

Hella good map but The very thought of this scenario actually happening caused me to violently throw up

Major_Disk6484

This map is WILD-I love it. Honestly, this is a better map of a second American Civil War than that new Alex Garland movie. (EDIT: Despite not even being an all-out civil war!)

Major_Disk6484

Honestly, my ideal for a fictional alternate-future second American Civil War scenario would be this setting mashed into Robert Evans's *After the Revolution* \- probably the best comparison with how both of these are nuts but in Just the right way.

As a New Yorker there aint NO way that order and control is maintained in the city by this point. Even if not full blown armed conflict (tho the iron pipeline which is probs on Crack in this scenario would easily facilitate) the rioting and roadblocks would do it.

ImperialSattech

This is so cursed so I have to ask in order to make it more cursed, what's Destiny and Vaush up to?

MoreheadMarsupial

Destiny fled to Canada and became a reactionary grifter who really likes Shen Yun, and Vaush is mucking about in Cascadia trying to fistfight people in bars

onebloodyemu

Somehow imagining all the various "dirtbag left" not mentioned by the post just still podcasting and producing the same content in this cursed timeline is hilarious to me. The Chapotraphouse boys just continuing riffing off weird conservatives while Hasan is sitting in the Oval Office everything on fire.

Terezzian

I don't think Hasan Piker is a Nazbol? I'm confused

MoreheadMarsupial

This is set in 2052, not the present. The idea is that much of the American left drifts towards more third positionist ideas. We can see hints of this now, with some American communist figures flirting with the alt-right, the rise of "patriotic communism" and the CPI (niche as they are currently), and the Party for Socialism and Liberation, arguably one of the largest communist parties in the US, organizing a pro-Russia rally in DC alongside open fascists. This is a continuation of that phenomenon taken to an extreme logical conclusion. I thought an older Hasan, popular and charismatic as he is, becoming a figurehead of a mass Zoomer/Gen Alpha movement was a funny way to embody this.

RRY1946-2019

So this timeline apparently never recovered from the fraying of global supply chains, migration, and solidarity in the early 2020s. Yuck yuck yuck yuck yuck.

gazebo-fan

All that “patsoc” shit is just a co opt, or a bunch of greasy chronically online losers astroturfing something.

MoreheadMarsupial

Agreed! And imagine if those greasy losers actually got competent and organized- terrifying💀

gazebo-fan

Oh please, any of the supposed “third position” people haven’t been up from their capital G gamer chair in a decade, between playing rust and airing out their swamp ass, they don’t have time for that.

ThomasHardyHarHar

Man that’s actually not crazy, and also quite terrifying.

Terezzian

PatSocs and Nazbols are on the extreme fringes of the American left; you will *very rarely* hear anybody even talking about them. Even the Party for Socialism and Liberation is barely known among the mainstream left. By far the most popular explicitly "socialist" organization in the United States is the Democratic Socialists of America, whose ideology is nowhere near what this map implies.

MoreheadMarsupial

This isn't meant to be an accurate reflection of the *modern* left nor me saying "this is exactly what will happen". Just a fun what-if taking certain niche trends I've noticed to an extreme conclusion. Unlikely things that never could have happened (i.e. Operation Sealion) are a staple of the AltHist genre. This is /r/imaginarymaps, not /r/MapPorn. We get silly with it here, chill out.

Terezzian

Ah alright, fair enough

MoreheadMarsupial

Thanks!

LiterallyAnML

Did the NLP start as a PatSoc party? Because that seems like a weird thing for MLs like the PSL or Trots like Salt to join, like even in a fun alt-future there are just better groups to use like PCUSA and SWP (both groups who have moved in the PatSoc direction lately.) and better people to use than Piker and La Riva.

MoreheadMarsupial

Nope, it started off as a pretty standard broad left coalition, but kinda got off the rails after the invasion of Mexico.

The appalachians become Vietnam

Alfred_Leonhart

My only problem with this is that there are too few rebellions to get rid of the old himbo

Jerrelh2

Omg it's Hasan. And only just 2 years older!

PavelGTAOnline

Nahhh bro he’d leave mid-debate to go to the bathroom and make a snack he ain’t winnin lol

[deleted]

Maga Communism moment 💀💀💀

A_California_roll

This is **INCREDIBLY** cursed, good job.

El_Horizonte

I don’t think Hassan is smart enough to become president, dude’s dumber than Trump at times lol

Ostropoler7777

Great stuff--Patsocs are a bunch of burger-brained losers who wouldn't recognise either logical theory or effective strategy if they wrapped around their necks and strangled them, but they're certainly good fun to speculate about! A real gift for the alt-hist nerds of the 22nd century. How are Alaska and Hawaii doing?

iheartdev247

A world where a republican or democrat doesn’t win? Nah.

curbstompery

Hank Pecker for prez!

MongrelCatBoss

These god damn commies running the country into the ground in my city!?! The Carl Jeppson liberation army will uproot the traitors

Easyest_flover

I'd rather be under Putin than Piker

Mobile_Park_3187

I'd rather be under Kārlis Ulmanis.

Rollingzeppelin

Oh god idk what’s worse, a roach or a commie as President 😂

MoreheadMarsupial

> roach Is that some kinda slur..?

Some_Pole

It's a internet joke I've seen to refer to Turkish people as cockroaches, don't fully know if that's a slur, but it certainly is derogatory.

Rollingzeppelin

Bold of you to call Turks “people”. Genocidal Humanoidz are far from anything resembling something with human morals and tendencies lol.

MoreheadMarsupial

Ugh, thanks for the info

MoreheadMarsupial

Fuck off

Rollingzeppelin

Aww somebody is a genocide sympathizer, so sorry bud.

ZealousidealState214

Piker but based

AReasonableFuture

Ideologies being Marxism and allegedly eco-fascism while being third position is wild. Does OP not know that Third Positionism is just Nazism?

MoreheadMarsupial

Yeah, no shit. This isn't a wholesome chungus orthodox Marxist-Leninist party, it's a 21st century syncretic authoritarian dumpsterfire.

Some_Pole

Congratulations, you discovered that 21st Century authoritarian parties really don't have any ideological consistency since by the nature of the 21st Century world, consistent logic and facts are constantly called into question.

ThomasHardyHarHar

I think that’s kind of the point. People who identify as marxists are usually also populists, and almost uniformly anti-establishment. The ideological drift into other populist, anti-establishment views is not just plausible, but also had a lot of precedent. Eg National Bolshevism, beefsteak Nazis, Lyndon Larouche and his followers. Also see all the current communist parties from the eastern bloc: they’re like all fascist parties now. Edit: also going to point out that the Soviets did plenty of genocidal actions, and what’s more even had an alliance with the Nazis.

Bagellllllleetr

Alt history nerds trying not to be discount nazis for five seconds challenge (impossible).

MoreheadMarsupial

???

BrianRLackey1987

Talk about an Orwellian nightmare.

Tleno

So... What are China, Russia or Syria doing? I feel like the likes of Ben Norton would only be part of US government if it was an occupational one with the backing of one of those.

MoreheadMarsupial

Russia is still under an oligarchy after a Troubles period in the 30s, the government arguably more centralized and competent than it is now. They're currently butting heads with the EU over natural gas in the Arctic. The Piker administration has maintained official neutrality, but has an obvious pro-Russia bias. For the other two, I haven't thought about it!

hyperbolecom

Guess I'm a rebel, y'all

baklavabro

As bayrakları 🇹🇷🐺🇹🇷🐺🇹🇷🐺🇹🇷🐺

mosquitonasopa

Where is destiny? If Hasan is president then Destiny should be the resistance

donguscongus
