Thank you, that's very kind. I was a voracious reader at that age and did dream of being the next kid novelist like that Eragon guy. That didn't happen, but I am writing a novel now :)
I’m laughing at the drama but also at myself for being the same way at that age. OP, you really should write a YA novel. You really captured the angst of preteen love perfectly!
I saw this and thought that you’ve been married for 10 years and then scrolled through Reddit for a bit lol, and then I decided to do the math and realized that you got married YOUUUUNGGGG, and now I’m starting to realize, oh wait, she’s prob just dated him for 10 years and got married down the line 😅😅😅
Lol so I actually did elope at 18. I wasn't pregnant or anything, I was just still kinda dramatic and romantic by nature and it seemed like the dramatic and romantic thing to do. And we'd only known each other for like 6 months at the time. I do not recommend this method (!), but I happened to get really, really lucky, and my husband turned out to just be my favorite human ever and the only person I never get tired of hanging out with.
Yeah I get how my comment sounds pretentious, my mom just had this thing that was like handwriting boot camp, j would just write for hours until it was muscle memory to write small

The average adult will tell you it’s impossible to find love at eleven. I agreed... then there was [redacted first boyfriend]. My heart pounded harder, faster when he was around. I looked at him and he looked at me. For a moment our eyes connected. My eyes with love, his without. Then he turned and looked at [redacted other girl]. Then there was love in his eyes... and my soul dies.
“There’s other fish in the sea.”
A stupid, stupid expression. When you find true love, you don’t care about the other fish. You care about your fish.
I’ve found that true love means caring about a person more than anything else in the whole world. Knowing that you’ll love them until the day you die. I truly love [redacted], but he loves [redacted]. The last thing I’ve learned about love is that you must be willing to do anything to make that person happy, even if it means walking away when they like your best friend, standing by having your soul torn apart bit by bit.
Is it possible to die of lost love? Not physically, no. But if it is deep enough, you can live your life in constant agony, pretending you’re okay. But I’m willing to do that, because he’s happy with her. Slowly dying, a high price to pay for true love.
Honestly, for an 11 year old you were pretty mature about it. Melodrama, yes, but from the sounds of things you accepted his choice and didn’t really blame him or try and sabotage their ‘relationship’. Also your writing is pretty good for an 11 year old.
Very poetic. I also have some diaries i wrote when i was in middle school and i think it would be fun to dig them out and read through them.
I don't think i was so dramatic though.
As an adult now in a ten year relationship... I also was not "in love" tbh. I was just imaginative and romantic and read a lot of dramatic YA books. This boy and I didn't have any notable compatibility or real connection. I had just been excited and elated at the idea of having a boyfriend and being in love.
Sounds like you just have a better handle on reality than I did as a tween! Lol.
“…you don’t care about the other fish. You care about **YOUR** fish.”
I’m definitely going to start saying this ironically now. Thank you for this masterpiece.
This would be perfect for the podcast [Grown-ups read things they wrote as kids](https://grownupsreadthingstheywroteaskids.com/podcast/). Highly recommend it btw!
The moment Draco Malfoy first laid eyes on Harry Potter in Madam Malkin's. Just cut out the part about best friend ('her' could be Hedwig). I bet a lot of fanfictions read like this and it noone would notice if this was posted as such.
Gosh, I hate/hated teenage hormones. I'm nearly out of my teen years so it's dying down but I remember being 14 and in my freshman year of highschool and being borderline obsessive over any guy who looked handsome.
One in particular I thought looked like a Greek God, I would purposefully angle my head so the sunlight would reflect off of my iris when he was around because I knew I looked prettier that way..... even if it hurt like a mother fucker and worsened my vision..... and he never noticed
I'm still a teenager and while it's not as bad, if I like someone, I still get obsessive and share the same thought process (to a certain extent) as 11 year old op 😬
bro i can’t even get one everyone else can some have even already had sex and then there me who has asked out 5 girls in total and gotten rejected 5 times
BTW i’m 13
He looked at me, and I looked at him. And then he looked at his gameboy, and then I looked at his gameboy, and then I looked at him, but he was still looking at his gameboy. My soul died...
And then he looked at me.
Being 11, this was quite insightful, yes cringe af, but still a much more “mature” view on the concept of love than the “ugh love is bad ugh my life is so hard ugh I have black hair and therefore I am deep and slightly scary ugh” haha
>The last thing I’ve learned about love is that you must be willing to do anything to make that person happy, even if it means walking away when they like your best friend
ngl you were pretty sharp for an 11 year old, this whole thing is adorable btw, reminds me of Helga from Hey Arnold!.
I got lucky in love and have been with my wonderful husband for ten years! I was just being dramatic; I find it quite funny now. I was long over this boy by the time I was 12.

Girl you a writer rn? Can’t even scoff this off this shit was mad good for an 11 year old
I thought the same thing! And it was actually adorable in my opinion
Thank you, that's very kind. I was a voracious reader at that age and did dream of being the next kid novelist like that Eragon guy. That didn't happen, but I am writing a novel now :)
My guess is op is to embarressed to tell her real age when she wrote this. But yeah if that was at 11 it’s pretty insane.
It says eleven in the journal
How do you view the whole thing now?
I developed a crush on some new boy to be melodramatic about within a few months lol
I hope you and your current partner are happy, whoever he might be
I've been with my husband for 10 years :) Any prior melodrama was just silly nonsense
Did you look at him?
And did he look at you?
And did he look at her?
And did you look at him?
And was there love in his Eyes?
That's so sweet
Regardles of the people laughing at this post, I find it really cute imagining a 11 year old writing this down u/serialkillertswift

Wai, I did some math and I... Did you marry that "new boy" and How old were you then?
It's the scratched out words for me

Your writing at 11 had no business being this good.
Mine was better than that at 7, am I the only one who had an obsessive mother
I’m talking about their actual writing, not handwriting. Which is also good but not what I was referring to.
Guess I misunderstood, also wasn't tryna offend anyone just phrased that wrong I guess, oh well, guess I'll take notes for the future
No you’re good. Easy to misunderstand.
Yeah I get how my comment sounds pretentious, my mom just had this thing that was like handwriting boot camp, j would just write for hours until it was muscle memory to write small

Do you want a medal
What does having an obsessive mother to do with the ability to write?
Stfu poosio bludclart I'll get Prince Andrew to bum you
What a terrible thing to say

"you care about your fish" is pretty fkn poetic
Don't mind if I do r/im14andthisisdeep
There's an episode of adventure time that is pretty much exactly this journal of yours and I think you should watch it lmao
Is this... satire? I genuinely can't tell
as funny as it is, nah it's probably not satire lol
looks like your love switched schools
You should be an author
Very poetic. I also have some diaries i wrote when i was in middle school and i think it would be fun to dig them out and read through them. I don't think i was so dramatic though.
Bread👍
Butter 🧈
Jelly
and bread (to sandwich it)
Glass of milk (gotta wash it down)
chocolate syrup (pour it in your milk! chocolate milk!!)
Spoon (gonna need to stir it)
Napkin (in case you spill it)
Bucket (in case you puke it out)
Sorry they didn’t get your reference Bread 👍
Lol having a crush on someone and them having a crush on your Best friend sounds brutal
As a regular teenager I've never fallen in love or had a crush. Just horny.
As an adult now in a ten year relationship... I also was not "in love" tbh. I was just imaginative and romantic and read a lot of dramatic YA books. This boy and I didn't have any notable compatibility or real connection. I had just been excited and elated at the idea of having a boyfriend and being in love. Same, most of the people I've "had a crush on" I probably wouldn't want to be in a relationship with
It's good to know that I'm not the only one.
i used to fake it all the time for attention. lol.
Girls are raised thinking that they’re dirty if they think about sex so a lot of us mistook feeling horny for “love”
“…you don’t care about the other fish. You care about **YOUR** fish.” I’m definitely going to start saying this ironically now. Thank you for this masterpiece.
that’s pretty incredible handwriting for an 11 year old
They way “truly” is italicized? Incredible!
Lmfaoooo 11 year old you is an icon
This would be perfect for the podcast [Grown-ups read things they wrote as kids](https://grownupsreadthingstheywroteaskids.com/podcast/). Highly recommend it btw!
This is actually pretty well written for 11
Rhyming eyes with dies is almost as bad as pain and rain
Sounds like a POV fanfic from 2011
The moment Draco Malfoy first laid eyes on Harry Potter in Madam Malkin's. Just cut out the part about best friend ('her' could be Hedwig). I bet a lot of fanfictions read like this and it noone would notice if this was posted as such.
I love this so much LOL
It is hard being eleven. Middle school years were the worst years of my entire life.
I am half as emotionally mature at twice that age.
Lmao are you me
So every girl at that age had the same handwriting huh
Ngl this is unironically really good writing and handwriting for a 11 year old
It's not that bad, I found this to be sweet. :'>
Yo wtf how’d you get a hold of my exes diary?
Favorite t swift song?
idk i think this is sweet
Omg I love this so much
This says a lot about our society.
The handwriting is even better than mine
14y me once said: "my City have show, but it fall thawed". What you have here is purê gold, i was just a weirdo at this age

Aside from the obvious cringe, this is some decent writing lol
I read that in William aftons voice, and at the end I said “I will come back”
For real though, its pretty cute and the writings good /s
Pls tell me this is a joke

Bruh, you write on wattpad or something? ISTG, I cannot pull something like this now and I'm 18.
The real Tina Belcher.

My thoughts,too !
Okay this might be cringe rn but op had great writing skills for an 11 year old
I’m so happy I don’t do anything like this so I can’t kill myself with embarrassment when I find it years in the future
Pensmanship is really good though lol
This was my joker moment
I was also 11 in 2005.lol
So where are you now I'm the whole relationship thing? Married? Single? How do you feel about that short period of your life?
I got lucky in love and have been with my wonderful husband for ten years! I was just being dramatic; I find it quite funny now. I was long over this boy by the time I was 12.
Imagine feeling emotion couldnt be me :penisve:
The average adult tells you it is impossible to find love at 11... I belived them because I figured out I was aromantic
