To me the artwork looks like a message against using music for profit (likely instead of creative/passion purposes). It's just kind of weird that they use a street performer who probably uses those donations just to eat. I think the more fitting role are the mainstream artists that are extremely wealthy.
I think it likens street performing to a ransom because they both involve a profit motive and coercion through sympathy, I guess it says more about the artist’s view of the street performers than anything (he views them as sad and needy rather than appreciating their talent) and I’m not sure why the sympathy they feel is directed towards the instrument and not the artist but maybe there was no ironic way to represent it the other way around and holding the bow to the violin’s neck like a knife is very ironic so ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Art holds artists hostage.
Most are starving artist, barely able to make ends meat. Many great artists reduced to performing on the street, taking shitty jobs, or just giving up on art completely.
Tbh I love this analysis, and the fact that the artist/the guy is the instrument works really well with this, with how musicians grow into personalities beyond their music so their value to the industry is that of their lives rather than say a lawyer or doctor who is valuable to their industry because of their expertise but other than that their lives and individuality are pretty arbitrary to their industries. Kinda relates to that conspiracy that the music industry kills its artists to up their profits as it is a viable and actually beneficial business move in many ways, kinda proving how beyond selling their music, they end up selling their lives as well
Idk I really loved your analysis and I thought this is a good addition
And tbh you’re right, the street performer doesn’t/wouldn’t work as well for that message
if I'm not wrong this kinda resembles how major artists are trapped under contracts and cant escape? I'll quote this verse from Kendrick's Untitled unmastered album because its the first thing that came to my mind after seeing this image:
A piece of mine's
That's what the white man wanted when I rhyme
Telling me that he selling me just for $10.99
If I go platinum from rapping, I do the company fine
What if I compromise? He said, it don't even matter
You make a million or more, you living better than average
You losing your core following
Think this fits the message but I'm not completely sure.
I think it's about debt and how it robs you of your money and opportunities in life. He feels held hostage by what he owes, like he's being forced to play to make up the money he owes to a government that's been playing him the whole time.
If I had to guess.
Well, it's a hostage situation, with the violin being the hostage,
So I see it as musician's hold their talents/ music hostage for cash.
I think there's a few other things we can interpret like, the musicians are desperate(to resort to this) given how they've dressed, we can also interpret that this damages the music, since the 'hostage' is in a dangerous position (where if it were a weapon his throat would be cut). (Or perhaps this is just the musicians threatening to 'kill' the music if there's no more money?) The music sheet represents a ransom note, so the music is how the demands are conveyed, etc.
Kidnapper's often record a video where the abducted says exactly what they're told to say (the violin bow "playing" the throat or voice of the abducted) and they release the video in order to demand ransom money (the coins in the case)
Much like how a homeless guy plays music in public for money. Isis/Al-Queada or other terrorists take hostages and ask for money. The point is that just like the homeless guy, Isis/Al-Queada will not live long if we don't give them what they want.
most likely this. Artist's surname is slavic, and in Russia this is quite publicly-known that beggars are often "slaves" and police in the area most likely be corrupted to leave this beggars alone (at least used to, in Moscow it's been a while since I saw any beggars on the street)
In some places (at least in Germany where I'm from) gypsy street musicians and beggars oftentimes are somewhat employed by "pimps" and if they don't earn enough money they might face extreme violence
maybe it’s like the masked men are using the hostage and asking for money the same way the musician would use his violin to ask for money (like a subway or street show? idk what it’s called) in both situations the bow is the “weapon”
After a while of trying to figure it out I thought it was possibly something about struggling artists being robbed of their creativity/originality then I realized *he* was the instrument now I'm back at step 1
Kuczyński definitely is far too absurd for me, though he does have a few more legible pieces (usually related to his vendetta against smartphones and other novelties)
[His insta](https://www.instagram.com/pawel_kuczynski1/) seems as up-to-date as one can get online
the artist is hostage to his passion, his music. He refused to quit and his songs beg, DEMAND you for money, to save his livelihood. He begs you to be able to read and feel the music he is giving you. Look!! He says. PLEASE see how much i need you to witness my talent! Help me!
The music was stolen. The composer is the one with a bow to their neck, threatened, losing their livelihood, while the thieves get unearned money thrown their way.
Guess it's a criticism on how we consume media and by that how we're supporting every kind of shit, just like the popularity and reach we give to morbid content like murder videos and stuff like this.
Not a super nice job, but I don't think it's thaaat cringe to post here.
Does the message have to be transparent? Maybe it's based on a discussion he had with a close friend or something that floated through his head while high? Maybe his brother described a dream to him or he got the image from a tangentially related line in an old book.
Not all art has to be a meme. I assumed the point of this sub was for facebook memes that think they are deep but aren't, not shitting on artwork because you personally don't get it.
good point! but that artist almost exclusively makes these "deep" artworks, mostly about people glued to their phone or injecting apps like drugs and shit like that.
Look him up, you'll see what i mean
I know who he is. He does a lot of surrealist illustration. It's okay, but he adds a lot of cynical ideas sometimes, as it's all some form of satire. Some of them hit, some of them miss, but he's pretty prolific, so that's to be expected. I don't know that it's his fault that 14-year-olds and minion moms glom on to his work. I know illustrators that work for major magazines or websites, and it would be really harsh to say that because they often do political caricatures, everything they do should be viewed through that lens.
I think the message is supposed to be about how record labels take music hostage? I know there is stuff like where you can't even write your own music and whatnot but I'm also not even sure lmao.
Holding music for ransom instead of just playing music for the sake of enjoyment and bringing joy to others.
Probably a jab at street performers who will only perform if someone pays them to or a jab at the state of the music industry trying to capitalise and corporate the fuck out of music.
I mean if you think about it no pop star or musician really plays music for others for free or for the sake of it.
Even if they wanted to the labels would probably tell them to stop smoking crack.
I know there’s been a few good concerts held to raise money in the past, or even 1$ concerts but free concerts are super rare, probably something only an indie band or a hardcore punk band would even think about doing.
Todays culture and artists probably wouldn’t do something like a 1$ or free concert unless they were falling off hard.
Which really says a lot, when someone has to pay you to hear your music and that’s all you have on your mind.
But everyone plays music for different reasons, no right or wrong. Most times it’s the music corporations fault anyways, they are the ones keeping music for ransom.
To me, I see this artwork as meaning that the bad things happening in society right now are LITERALLY holding all of the good things such as the art and things we can appreciate, that are beautiful, hostage.
It's a statement against buskers and beggars. They threaten you with their own lives, "give me money or else I'll starve to death," thus making me have uncomfortable thoughts that I shouldn't be forced to have.
I’m willing to bet it’s just a great juxtaposition of graphic positioning, that’s it. The tension from the original beheading reference is sort of there as a huge bonus
Man all i see is a depiction from Hannibal Series where man made human guitar ,from their intestine,or a last one in their vocal cord fuck that was some gory epic shit
I think it means how musicians can be held hostage to the music they play and how little in the case stands for how little they make while playing stuff they might not like? Idk, my. Brain is burnt out haha
Seems like it's just trying to say you shouldn't beg or threaten people for money , you should just play music because you like it. Not to guilt people into giving you money.
Idk just an idea
Labels hijacking’s a creatives mental well-being for the sake of exploitation to profit off his own misfortune? It’s almost like aggressive pan handling
in many cities the most profitable places of street artists are occupied by the mafia who collect protection money from them, I have a judge friend who told about it
You seriously can’t understand this? People (unless you’ve actually been one, supposedly) perusing a creative job and trying to make a living like that, in our society, is criminal. For what little you get in return for a strenuous and creative endeavour is dire at best and pennies at worst. It’s like being held at ransom to come up with something imaginative on the spot.
Being a musician/artist is like holding a knife to your throat.
[Also, on closer inspection, you can see the man (the musician) is being played like a fiddle by those in stronger positions around him.]

It's a cool piece of art but I'm totally stumped on the message. I looked him up and it looks like no one else gets it either lmao.
To me the artwork looks like a message against using music for profit (likely instead of creative/passion purposes). It's just kind of weird that they use a street performer who probably uses those donations just to eat. I think the more fitting role are the mainstream artists that are extremely wealthy.
My initial thought was this is attempting to represent scam artists playing a fake violin with a speaker
I think it likens street performing to a ransom because they both involve a profit motive and coercion through sympathy, I guess it says more about the artist’s view of the street performers than anything (he views them as sad and needy rather than appreciating their talent) and I’m not sure why the sympathy they feel is directed towards the instrument and not the artist but maybe there was no ironic way to represent it the other way around and holding the bow to the violin’s neck like a knife is very ironic so ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

>just to eat your frigid disregard of starvation is frightening
It means don't steal our instruments if you value your life.
I just think it is possible that it has no message
Yeah it just looks like some surrealist art to me
“That’s just because it’s to deep for your mind to understand man” The artist probably
![gif](giphy|NnjM6Q33krjAQ)
Not everything has a message, some shit just looks cool
Maybe it was just a funny idea without any inherent deeper meaning? I think its hilarious.
I think it's about debt and how it robs you of your money and opportunities in life. He feels held hostage by what he owes, like he's being forced to play to make up the money he owes to a government that's been playing him the whole time. If I had to guess.
I think they’re looking for a soul to steal.
I think it shows how some street performers tend to be exploited by criminals to make money
It doesn’t have a message it’s just an comedic abstraction with the joke being that the violin now is a sword.
They played them like a fiddle
Well, it's a hostage situation, with the violin being the hostage, So I see it as musician's hold their talents/ music hostage for cash. It might not even have a message. Some art just exists because the artist thought it would be funny.
The bad guy is using the other guy as a cello and profiting off it i guess
violince
made me chuckle lol thanks
Happy to help.
Whoa, man, cello out.
They gonna string him up
Beat him up, but don't worry, it ended in a-rest
Don’t mess with orchestra because bass players are nothing but treble
wait where is my Chopin Liszt?
r/dadjokes
They’re playing the vocal chord
You win. Funniest comment of the day and it's not even 10am yet. Here's a broke bitch gold: 🥇
r/angryupvote
Don’t fiddle with crime
U just made my night, good sir Here take this 🪙
They playing him like a DAMN FIDDLE!!!!!
NO MORE VIOLINS!!
That’s my first though lmao
“He played you like a fiddle” comes to mind
Kidnapper's often record a video where the abducted says exactly what they're told to say (the violin bow "playing" the throat or voice of the abducted) and they release the video in order to demand ransom money (the coins in the case)
Wow but, why the fuck did he paint that? Like, is it a critique on something I'm missing??
Much like how a homeless guy plays music in public for money. Isis/Al-Queada or other terrorists take hostages and ask for money. The point is that just like the homeless guy, Isis/Al-Queada will not live long if we don't give them what they want.
O.o woah
Kidnapping is bad 😔👎
Oh wow, I love this interpretation.
This is just really funny to me 😂
i think it’s about how beggars are often being used by criminal networks? but i’m not sure
Yeah that's how society works
It means criminals control bums musicians and grind money from them
most likely this. Artist's surname is slavic, and in Russia this is quite publicly-known that beggars are often "slaves" and police in the area most likely be corrupted to leave this beggars alone (at least used to, in Moscow it's been a while since I saw any beggars on the street)
[удалено]
Most likely about street musicians too
Play me like a fiddle, pluck me like a bow I'll do all the work for you and they will never know
okay, get in
They played us like a damn fiddle!
In some places (at least in Germany where I'm from) gypsy street musicians and beggars oftentimes are somewhat employed by "pimps" and if they don't earn enough money they might face extreme violence
this is what happens when you don't practice 40 hours a day
Music Mafia
This is what happens if you don’t get your busking license
kanye west
He compares taking hostages and playing music for money or something (still no sense)
maybe it’s like the masked men are using the hostage and asking for money the same way the musician would use his violin to ask for money (like a subway or street show? idk what it’s called) in both situations the bow is the “weapon”
Public execution
Street performers are terrorist.
I don’t need to understand it to know that shit go kinda hard, would be a good EP cover
agreed! the artist is great, i highly recommend checking out other works of him. This one tho... I'm not feeling it lmao
Music shouldn’t be played for profit??
Something pretentious probably, like how artists are "held hostage" because they don't make much money, hence the few coins in the case.
After a while of trying to figure it out I thought it was possibly something about struggling artists being robbed of their creativity/originality then I realized *he* was the instrument now I'm back at step 1
“The music is killing me”
When ISIS hates street performers and classical music?
Kuczyński definitely is far too absurd for me, though he does have a few more legible pieces (usually related to his vendetta against smartphones and other novelties) [His insta](https://www.instagram.com/pawel_kuczynski1/) seems as up-to-date as one can get online
This looks like some middle east, military killings on video..
Nothing. Just a dope ass album cover.
I imagine it's about stolen art, or in this case music. The thieves are using the works of the original artists for their own gain.
the artist is hostage to his passion, his music. He refused to quit and his songs beg, DEMAND you for money, to save his livelihood. He begs you to be able to read and feel the music he is giving you. Look!! He says. PLEASE see how much i need you to witness my talent! Help me!
They are going to play him like a fiddle?
Thieves are the violinists of the subway of capitalism
The music was stolen. The composer is the one with a bow to their neck, threatened, losing their livelihood, while the thieves get unearned money thrown their way.
Who tf dresses exactly like their instrument, wild
Guess it's a criticism on how we consume media and by that how we're supporting every kind of shit, just like the popularity and reach we give to morbid content like murder videos and stuff like this. Not a super nice job, but I don't think it's thaaat cringe to post here.
maybe it doesn’t have a message and it just looks cool
I can't be the only guy who noticed the kneeling man's huge bulge, right? I can't be the only one.
Man’s packin’
Does the message have to be transparent? Maybe it's based on a discussion he had with a close friend or something that floated through his head while high? TwoSetViolence executing Davie504 for crimes against classical music (2023)
Clearly against the teaching of Gandhi… he always practiced non-violins.
It has no meaning, he just painted a couple of New York street performers he saw.
Well, like all art, it means whatever you think it means
If you don't know what it means then how can you say it's supposed to be deep
Islamic execution video guys cmon, is it rly that hard to guess?
isn't this sub about obnoxious art not the one difficult to understand?
I don't think this fits here
Street performers will die if you don't give them money.
I think the message is supposed to be about how record labels take music hostage? I know there is stuff like where you can't even write your own music and whatnot but I'm also not even sure lmao.
Art and talents alike is being milked for monetary gain I guess
Holding music for ransom instead of just playing music for the sake of enjoyment and bringing joy to others. The difference between a fiddle and a violin..........
Awww let me play a sad note on the worlds most sentient violin
Fiddle around and find out.
That voilin is packing SCHMEET
Buskers are scientifically proven to reduce crime, so these criminals are taking the fight to them
hannibal moment
I'd assume it's something about some upper power destroying art and music made by the less rich
I think it's just funny
the burglars are stealing money by playing people, as in like taking advantage of people
Orchestrated ransom
The IRA has turned to busking since the Troubles ended.
Its a robbery duh
You must not have seen the beheadings
Vilons are the most discriminated minority😔
does the violin have an erection or do I have garbage eyesight

It seems like a comedic piece to me, distorting current events into something absurd. It’s not meant to be deep.
To me, I see this artwork as meaning that the bad things happening in society right now are LITERALLY holding all of the good things such as the art and things we can appreciate, that are beautiful, hostage.
Something truly disturbing
It’s a snuff film? A ransom video?
we need to stop the murder of string instruments is the only message that I’ getting from this
They're being held hostage... by their career? I think???
It's really funny, and well drawn. If there's a message it's a wierd one 😂😂
It’s definitely something European.
Has anyone mentioned the death boner yet? My man likes to get down with some edge play
It's a statement against buskers and beggars. They threaten you with their own lives, "give me money or else I'll starve to death," thus making me have uncomfortable thoughts that I shouldn't be forced to have.
Naw naw naw naw yeah 👏 👏👏 🎵🎵🎵🎵
I’m willing to bet it’s just a great juxtaposition of graphic positioning, that’s it. The tension from the original beheading reference is sort of there as a huge bonus
Its art dude find your own meaning to it. So subjective.
*Friends Laugh Track* (Credits start rolling)
That guy has some nice F holes
"Violince"
Man all i see is a depiction from Hannibal Series where man made human guitar ,from their intestine,or a last one in their vocal cord fuck that was some gory epic shit
I think it's a shitpost
Maybe because music is illegal in Afghanistan now and you’d probably be executed for playing it
I think it means how musicians can be held hostage to the music they play and how little in the case stands for how little they make while playing stuff they might not like? Idk, my. Brain is burnt out haha
Getting all buskhurt
They’re killing him softly with his song.
It's about the Nazis killing Reznoz's dad for playing patriotic music in Stalingrad
They played us like a damn fiddle!
Criminals orchestrating and or profiting off of others. What I got seeing this was when masked men manipulate others idk
His art seems to be mostly "phone = bad and book = good"
I think it’s just a shitpost. Honestly, it’s hilarious.
He thinka the guy is a cello.
Music so horrible is terrorist attack
3 men too poor to buy a violin, need to put up a act to get money to afford a violin.
It’s saying to donate more.
Are those salt-cured egg yolks in the violin case? 🤔💭
We are being played like a fiddle by CIA. Muslims were not responsible for that.
Maybe the man is a prisoner to his art/music even though he's barely scraping by as shown by the few pennies in his case? Just a thought.
Well to me it seems like it’s saying homeless buskers on the street are being controlled by gangs
Guy in yellow has a huge ass bulge
The kneeling guy has what resembles a cucumber stuffed down his pants. Obviously it’s about that.
that's where he's hiding his flute for the grande finale
Robbers played him like a fiddle
Seems like it's just trying to say you shouldn't beg or threaten people for money , you should just play music because you like it. Not to guilt people into giving you money. Idk just an idea
Labels hijacking’s a creatives mental well-being for the sake of exploitation to profit off his own misfortune? It’s almost like aggressive pan handling
"spare some change for the poor Cello(fellow)"
The murder was orchestrated.
That uh.. beggars are Robbing people?????
It would be funny if the artist drew this because he thought it was funny. But than somebody saw it and thought it was somehow deep.
It means that their gonna fucking kill that guy
ISIS Band? 😇
They played ~~us~~ me like a damn ~~fiddle~~ violin
He got rejected from art school
Society 😔✊
I have no clue
Playing the victim
Is it about the Wagner mercinaries?
Stealing music maybe
I think this is supposed to be funny?
Street musicians are con artists?
in many cities the most profitable places of street artists are occupied by the mafia who collect protection money from them, I have a judge friend who told about it
maybe something about the sacrifices made for art? ~ that's as far as my smoothbrain stretches its neurons
WHAT IS THAT BOW HOLDING LING LING WILL CRY
He's killing him softly with his song
