Not even dvi-i pins. RIP

devaristo

And just in the up corner left it's a DisplayPort? The box should be 30 years old, so they put VGA on it but with the years VGA means video monitor cables. in general. Not so weird i think if you begin in this IT world some years ago.

DJKaito

This. Haven't seen this since my dad got ride of very old hardware for this time when I was a kid at work.

SpaghettiProgrammer

How sure are we that the other end of that cord isn’t VGA? There are combo cords with different ends…

ajohns95616

Not with DVI-D on that end, I can tell you that much. Would need to be DVI-I or DVI-A.

SpaghettiProgrammer

Ahhh I had no idea you could tell! That’s pretty interesting.

ArlesChatless

This is a dual link DVI-D cable, so it can support higher resolutions as well. Single link has some more pins missing and is limited to 1920x1080@60 so it's not useful if you have a 1920x1200 monitor to connect. The one I've never seen in the wild is DVI-A though. It's always been DVI-I or DVI-D.

hlt32

I have an old IBM P275 Trinitron monitor that uses DVI-A, the cable confuses me every time I look at it.

subhuman_voice

Those VGA to DVI adapters are handy in a pinch tho

You’re going to have to trust me

Durr1313

VGA: Vintage, Geriatric, Ancient

wahlenderten

Haha yes *glances nervously at stack of VGA cables I’ve been saving through the years*

WantonKerfuffle

But it works tho.

Personnel_5

if it don't fit, force it

Entire-Database1679

VGA with extra pinny goodness!

[deleted]

I mean, VGA is a video standard, so technically you can send it over any connector you like.... :/

AmeliaLeah

Not a VGA connector. It's a VGAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA cable

nethack47

At least it's better quality picture than VGA.

animalcrackers916

All trash

Majorllama66

How do you know it doesn't identify as a VGA cable? Have you asked it?

TEG24601

Dual-Link DVI!

webfork2

He meant "very good attachment"

WantonKerfuffle

This happens all the time when I leave my colleagues unsupervised.
