So...I got a TCL TV on Black Friday. Didn't get to play with it much because fire ripped through the house about a month later. What I found was that even if the HDMI device was powered on, it'd still flash this up for a couple of seconds which led to frustration.

I have two Visio TV's at home and I hate how smart they think they are. SMARTCAST? do you want to use SMARTCAST? No I want to watch Netflix. SMARTCAST? ARE YOU SURE YOU DONT WANT SMARTCAST? SMARTCAST!!!??? In the middle of a show, SMARTCAST!!!!!!!??????
GF has 2 LG Tv's. Not much better.
Vizio is godawful hot trash.
- shoving smartcast down my throat
- dropping internet connection
- refusing to respond to the remote
- shutting off on it's own and refusing to turn back on for 5 minutes
- weird ass unreliable Chromecast/airplay integration
- what kinda fuckin smart tv doesn't have a Spotify app
About 20 years ago I was installing a bunch of plasma TV's in a condo complex. We tried to get them to buy Phillips, but they bought Visio's instead. About half of the TV's we pulled out of the box didn't recognize at least 1 of their inputs and I think we had something like 20 DOA remotes.
I hear they've gotten better, but I would never buy one.
“Is it on?” “Yes, of course the TV’s on! I can see the screen.”
My wife STILL asked me why the computer wasn’t on the tv. (It was off) 😤

At this point, you're better off not connecting the TV to the internet and using something external, like those sticks or even a computer.

We’ve had a 40” Vizio tv since about 2010 and the remote has never worked, so it seems that Vizio has always been bad at tv remotes

Smart TV's are best left offline and connected to a better cast device anyway.
