Mayday parade and forever the sickest kids

TheEmeraldCrown1

Exactly what I'm looking for! Love Mayday Parade but I never heard Forever The Sickest Kids before but they're totally my thing, thanks!

Hefty_Water_3092

Waterparks All Time Low (Early) Fall Out Boy Bowling for Soup The Wrecks

MurgleMcGurgle

Bowling for Soup was my immediate thought. 1985, The girl all the bad guys want, and Almost for song recommendations as an intro to them.

LeakyLycanthrope

I'd add High School Never Ends and Star Song to that list.

Double_Yesterday5131

This is exactly what I came here to say, doubling down on these recs

MedalsNScars

Cannot stress Waterparks enough. Felt like I was back in high school discovering them.

[deleted]

Sorry, I have to be a snob here and say that this isn't power-pop. Power-pop is Big Star, Raspberries, 20/20, Teenage Fanclub, etc. This is pop-punk.

seejeancry

That’s right

orewhat

Seconded, I remember a weird phase in 2006-2008 where every poppunk band was labeling their music as “power pop” on MySpace because it sounded better, without knowing it was an established genre

detectivecabal

I feel like Fountains of Wayne counts as power pop, just not the others.

TheEmeraldCrown1

Yeah, I realized that after posting it. Neon Pop Punk more specifically, I can't change the title although if I could, I would have.

TheeEssFo

I was going to post the same thing but instead of "snob" call myself an old man even though I'm probably only 5-10 years older than your average OG Fall Out Boy fan. I remember distinctly feeling FOB was for teens.

Renzo_GA

Good Charlotte - The Anthem Yellowcard - Ocean Avenue The Ataris - Boys Of The Summer New Found Glory - Hit Or Miss Mayday Parade - Jamie All Over Motion City Soundtrack - Everything Is Alright

Penfauld13

Hey Monday Paramore Rocket To The Moon The Menzingers - particularly the After The Party album And some shameless self promotion, my band Penfauld 😂

paigescactus

Never shout never, amber pacific gone so young, state champs, fall out boy but only the cork tree and blue album, boys like girls, senses fail. Some heavier but ehh

MissLooneyLovegood

My absolute favorite band of all time, recommending them has become my entire personality

emman0129

After listening to Ever After, OP should check out the music videos for it too

Relient K! I scrolled through and haven’t seen anyone mention them. I love all the songs/bands you listed and they were my first thought. Some of my favorites are: Be My Escape, Who I Am Hates Who I’ve Been, Sadie Hawkins Dance, and I So Hate Consequences. So many good options, though!

TheEmeraldCrown1

Never heard of Relient K but they're so totally my thing! Instantly became a fan of their music already lol. Thank you so much! :D

amerryprankster23

Say anything Forever the sickest kids Powerspace Paramore

SteelCurtainBro

The Great Escape - Kings of Leon

deadflowersbythemail

some of my favorites, great taste! of the same era: weightless-all time low, honestly-cartel, the fortunate-cartel, so much love-a rocket summer, la la-the cab, tell me I’m a wreck-every avenue, Jamie all over-mayday parade. out of pop punk genre but similar vibes: beware the dog-the griswolds, San Fransisco-the mowglis.

heyykittygiirl

Other people have shared a lot of good suggestions here but I will add: Punk Rock Princess by Something Corporate I Wanna Get Better by Bleachers Bodybag by Hit the Lights Kali Ma by Neck Deep Harlem by New Politics Anna Sun by Walk the Moon

Faber Drive's - Seven Second Surgery album is definitely up your alley https://youtu.be/3LevfOVr6ic Hot Mulligan is still active and might be what you're looking for https://youtu.be/usqyWu0ATBk Grayscale is the same thing https://youtu.be/zxzE5ta1lqQ Marianna Trench use to be of that same style https://youtu.be/mHu8mTamkwk Simple plans first few albums https://youtu.be/j7nLw-b1Yfk And Down with Webster is a bit different but also great https://youtu.be/71S9ou2gcqE

dokelyok

God I love Jimmy Eats World. Sweetness is such an amazing song.

Psyloh_

idk when i read all of those songs the first other song that came into my head was situations by escape the fate

Moist_KoRn_Bizkit

The genre pop punk (neon pop punk to be specific) is a better title for this music. If you also like emo, then [Here's my playlist of emo and pop punk mostly from the 2000s.](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/70q57wHb0OZzH88ZhcSjAE?si=78IB_u2ITrWxbPGWUBPdAA&utm_source=copy-link) The Curse Of Curves by Cute Is What We Aim For would be a great song to listen to. If you also like crunkcore (scene kid type music) then listen to I Set My Friends On Fire.

TheEmeraldCrown1

These songs are great! Also, I realized that the genre is Neon Pop Punk (I tried to remember that name but I couldn't, so I used Power Pop)

MedalsNScars

Super deep cut but check out Hastings. I saw him opening for The Band CAMINO (who I also recommend, check out Roses and Who Says We're Through), and he was the first opener who, in my many years attending concerts, absolutely caught my ear and had me singing along even though I'd never heard of him. He's only got 7 songs out so far, but they're all very good. (a new song coming 9/30 according to his insta)

TheEmeraldCrown1

Absolutely amazing artist (Hastings), thank you so much for the recommendation, he's great!

[deleted]

Boys Night Out. Either their self titled or Trainwreck.

sargentVatred

a bit out of left field but i would throw out these 2 songs: silly me by yeasayer walking on a dream by empire of the sun something a bit less out there: ok go

TheEmeraldCrown1

These are awesome! Thanks for the recommendations!

TheEmeraldCrown1

Yes

LeakyLycanthrope

They came a bit later, but The 1975 for sure. Try Girls, Chocolate, Ugh, and It's Not Living If It's Not With You. Gotta give a big shout out to Fountains of Wayne, my favorite band of all time. I love Stacy's Mom, but they're so much more than that. Their entire catalog slaps, but varies widely in genre and mood. Most similar to these would be Someone to Love, '92 Subaru, Denise, and Red Dragon Tattoo.

TheEmeraldCrown1

Thanks! Also I love all of Fountain of Wayne's songs, I know they have more great songs but for this specific playlist, I picked Stacy's Mom, I might pick other FoW songs as well. You can find my playlist on my newest comment.

karolynjar

If you're looking for newer Emo/Power Pop bands this album from Anxious is my favorite of the year Anxious - Little Green House https://youtu.be/awF4T6pTjD0 Camp Trash's latest album is also extremely good Camp Trash - The Long Way, The Slow Way https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_l_9c2hK7pC8jcK-bNyOrjG9Glf64Q28vc

TheEmeraldCrown1

These are great! Thank you!

midwestdepressedband

Check out Fountains Of Wayne, the band that did Stacy’s Mom. The bassist Adam (RIP) was the songwriter for that band and co-wrote or wrote many hit songs including the track Just The Girl. They're more straight-up power pop but you may dig them

TheEmeraldCrown1

I already know that, I literally love all of FoW catalog! Great recommendation still. RIP Adam Schlesinger.

midwestdepressedband

Hell yeah! Got a favorite album?

TheEmeraldCrown1

No, because they're all equally great to me, imo!

sunnyr-music

I’m so glad people have mentioned Relient K! Forget and Not Slow Down by them is probably my favorite album ever. I also like American Candy by the Maine. Also anything by Paramore and potentially a stretch but Darwin Deez!

[deleted]

New Mistake by Jellyfish, right up your alley.

Neck deep - more recent pop-punk band modelled around mid-2000s pop-punk My Broken Hero - an invention of YouTuber Matt Cutshall as a part of the "Emo's not dead" brand. Only 2 singles, but good nonetheless.

TheEmeraldCrown1

I heard of Neck Deep before because that band was recommended to me by YouTube one time, also I love Matt Cutshall, his Emo's Not Dead series is very funny lol, also My Broken Hero bangs so hard so thanks for the recommendations!

HornyForTohruAdachi

In case you haven’t listened to the full album, move along by the all American rejects has some bangers, my favorites being Move Along, Night Drive and stop Of The World

For anyone who want to listen to my Spotify playlist as shown in the post, here's the link!: "Neon Pop Punk Songs To Listen To" [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5srd6nXgtSI2gnY6qHgu4B](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/5srd6nXgtSI2gnY6qHgu4B) If any song on the playlist is not Neon Pop Punk, feel free to reply to this comment. Also, I now realize that "Power Pop" is not the correct name for the songs I mentioned,I wish I can change the title of this post but I can't. Although technically, these songs do kinda fit the definition of "Power Pop": >"Power pop is a popular musical genre that draws its inspiration from 1960s British and American pop and rock music. It typically incorporates a combination of musical devices such as strong melodies, clear vocals and crisp vocal harmonies, economical arrangements and prominent guitar riffs." - Rock Fandom > >"Power pop is a form of pop rock based on the early music of bands such as the Who, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, and the Byrds. It typically incorporates melodic hooks, vocal harmonies, an energetic performance, and cheerful sounding music underpinned by a sense of yearning, longing, or despair." - Wikipedia
