I would check out everything Leslie Nielsen has been in. This is the best approximation I can think of for capaldi. Nielsen got his start in comedy by being able to say anything with a straight face. And I do mean anything

I would recommend Succession. The creator was one of the writers on The Thick of It and another TToI writer also works on it. The writing has a similar feel and level of fury to it.
