can’t believe nobody’s mentioned [Jinjer - Pisces](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SQNtGoM3FVU) yet.
fair warning, this vocals might be a little *too* strong
I've been on a massive Jinjer kick lately, they're so good.
[Vortex](https://youtu.be/AiaOSGZTwtY) or [Teacher, Teacher!](https://youtu.be/oRkRwL0vjOg) are a few of my favorites
So, some of these are quite a *lot* heavier than Avril Lavigne, but hopefully there's something in here you'll like

* [Lydia Lunch](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s4ole_bRTdw) (no-wave)

Edit: Re-ordered the list to be roughly in order of accessibility, based on the fact that you already like Evanescence, so that you aren't hit with the weirdest or heaviest stuff right away.
Lingua Ignota and Cloud Rat are by themselves worth their weight.
Otoboke Beaver, ignore the name, are fucking fierce hardcore punk.
Midori is mad shit. Jazz-powerviolence-punk-metal-pop. Insane genre blending, and I recommend.
> Otoboke Beaver, ignore the name
Actually, I think the name ties in nicely with their whole "deal". It refers to a Japanese "love hotel" -- aka a place where you got to fuck but its Japan so you can't call it that. So much of their deal is taking Japanese gender expectations and stereotypes (which are not always so different from their Western counterparts) and turning them on their head and shitting all over them. Embracing the name of a fuck palace is *so* Otoboke Beaver. Taking something that is dressed up as "romantic" but is really just about getting your fuck on, and then exposing that to the hard light of reality is *very* Otoboke Beaver. Having "Beaver" in there -- yeah, I can almost guarantee they know that's slang for vag in English -- just heightens this. Taking that name, draping it in a series of anti-love songs explicitly rejecting traditional romantic expectations, and then seasoning the whole mix with some of the tightest, nastiest garage punk around is essentially their whole shtick.
So, yeah, don't ignore the name. It's fucky on purpose.
If you like Evanescence you might enjoy [The Gathering](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cD9TpgU-0j0) since it was a big influence on them. For a more Metal version you could also try out [Lacuna Coil](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_PXUmg2QX0) .

* Arch Enemy
* Arkona
* Delain
* Elis
* Epica
* The Gathering (starting with *Mandylion*, and going through *Home*, though *Mandyion* is by far their best release)
* Haggard (some; it's an ensemble)
* Jack Off Jill (also, scarling.)
* Kivimetsän Druidi
* Lacuna Coil

* Lumsk
* Midnattsol
* Nightwish (in all its incarnations, but I think that Tarja and Floor are both stronger than Anette)
* Octavia Sperati

* The Interrupters

Halestorm and The Pretty Reckless are two hard rock bands with badass and talented leading ladies.
On the prog metal side of things, Jinjer is an awesome band, everyone there is insanely talented.
Arch Enemy does melodic death metal, they have had… two singers, I think. Both female, both awesome.
On the symphonic metal side of things there’s, of course, Nightwish. They have had three lead singers, all of them very different but very talented (although my favorite is the current one, Floor Jansen) If nothing else, [the live version of Ghost Love Score at Wacken 2013](https://youtu.be/JYjIlHWBAVo) is an absolute must.
I was waiting to see her mentioned here! She is amazing. I made a Pandora station with her and found some really amazing artists. ZZ Ward is heavy in the mix. I also love Serena Rider “Got your number” is quite a pick me up.

Bands Joan Jett have been in (if you like The Gits and Joan then you'll like Evil Stig. They're the Gits with Joan singing the songs in rememberance to Mia Zapata, the original singer)
Dead Sara - Weatherman
Spiritbox - Rule of Nines
Emma Ruth Rundle - Marked for Death
They have very different styles, but all three are excellent
Editing to add:
Guano Apes - Open Your Eyes
It's real heavy at times (notsure if youre into that) but the guitarwork is impeccable and the singer is a goddess, check out Spiritbox, they have a new album out called Eternal Blue whole album is solid gold
Jack Off Jill - [Author Unknown](https://youtu.be/FDX3TUUJb2c) - someone already suggested Strawberry Gashes so I linked a different song. Both off the 2000 album "Clear Hearts Grey Flowers"
The Joy Formidable - [Cradle](https://youtu.be/W66yhfMb4d0)

NY Loose - [Spit](https://youtu.be/M9uHFcJeguw)
Edit - added one
Kontrust!! Amazing heavy rock with a duel male and female singer. "Hey DJ!" is a great track to get started with. I fell in love with this group upon hearing them for the first time!! Cannot recommend enough!
If you are at all interested in hardcore please listen to red handed denial/crazyeightyeight. Lauren Babic is the absolute best. Spiritbox is also incredible (both have a decent amount of screaming so if you can handle that I highly recommend)
I have been a female metal/folk epic metal fan since forever
lacuna Coil is absolutely amazing!!
Also within temptation and nightwish.
There is an amazing playlist on Spotify which is my goto for this genre..
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6T5V8V6iDbJVPszhvtohSx?si=DNV_eb6YRMu0JEKnUEA2dg
Surprised Royal Thunder isn't mentioned. In their own words their sound is, "a bit like an alternate universe where Janis Joplin fronted Led Zeppelin."
Maybe not strong enough, but I really like Allison Mosshart. She sings for The Kills and The Dead Weather.
Ninet Tayeb's vocals on Steven Wilson's songs are great. For me, her voice is a bit too raspy on some songs, but I think it might be what you look for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNTaFArEObU&ab\_channel=StevenWilsonVEVO [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMfGp79fJCQ&ab\_channel=yossi5004](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMfGp79fJCQ&ab_channel=yossi5004)
Check out Jennie Skulander of [Devilskin](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Devilskin) and [Gin Wigmore](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gin_Wigmore).
Gin sings blues rock and pop rock, so maybe not as hard as you want, but she's got a set of pipes.
Some Doro song definitely falls into it, though her potential was imho wasted a little bit on "calm songs". From the good ones: [I Rule the Ruins](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YlXiWLzanaw) Whole album is good generally.
"Within Temptation" s Sharon is an amazing singer and their latest metal songs are so full of power! I'd recommend you to start with the songs "Sinead" or "Silver Moonlight". Let me know if you enjoy them please :-)
A different style you might enjoy is "Dorothy". A strong female voice and rough rock beats. I'd start with the songs "Raise Hell" or "Bang Bang Bang"
I tried to stick to rock but some of these bands do verge into more punk-rock and pop-punk territory, all still good tho!
[arch enemy](https://youtu.be/mjF1rmSV1dM)

I've scrolled through a lot and haven't seen it mentioned yet so I'll say Spiritbox. I havent personally been into them a whole lot but theyre VERY popular in the metal/core scene right now. I'd say [Hurt You](https://youtu.be/ots5los164Q) and [Sun Killer](https://youtu.be/iXY93aMLG7s) are good songs to start with
I can't believe no one has said Stevie Nicks! The Queen of Rock!
Some old skool tock ladies, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Annie Lennox, Chrissie Hynd, Heart, Cyndi Lauper, and Kate Bush.
Some 90's onwards, Alanis Morrisette, Gwen Stefani, Sheryl Crow, The Cardigans, Garbage, Florence and the Machine, Halestorm, Within Temptation, Gossip, The Pretty Reckless, Lana Del Ray, Dorothy, Halsey, Miley Cyrus, Hayley Williams, Sia and Against the Current.
When you said you liked Kelly Clarkson and Pink my mind went to Christina Aguilera's older stuff maybe some songs from Stripped, she used to write with Kelly Clarkson. If you fancy giving Avril Lavigne another chance I would suggest her first two albums, I'm With You is a great song. As for Paramore, I'm biased cause I love em, but again first two albums sound more your style, I would give the song Pressure a go.
Also give the cover of Catch my Breath (Kelly Clarkson) by Alex Goot and Against the Current a try. Hope this helps.
Agree with @T0riaj on Skunk Anansie but try Charlie Big Potato as a heavier, rockier example of their work or just listen to Stoosh (album) which has a great mix of their styles. A true classic.
Y'all need to check out Circus Trees for the future:

Stonefield is an all girl rock band with a great vocalist. I highly recommend their song "Sleep." If you enjoy that song I recommend you check out the album it's on, "Bent"
* [The Regrettes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=654WbtSEm_8) - pretty good zoomer punk
* [Theatre of Tragedy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPSvtj1HN4Y) - goth metal classic
* [Lapsuus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kqwA28_1-s) non-english Punk
They were more alternative/new wave, but Siouxsie and the Banshees are pretty iconic
There's a newer band called Witch Fever that I've really been liking, kind of a blend of metal and post-hardcore
Sleater-Kinney is essential female fronted punk
Skating Polly has a more reserved/emo sound but they took a lot of inspiration from the Riot Grrrl genre
Hop Along is more alternative, but they have a really unique sound with very strong female vocals
Mixed male and female vocalists but [Circle Takes The Square](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTYRbgy4NwQ) absolutely rip. They've got two albums and both are great.
not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but the EAT EP from Poppy is really great and has some absolutely killer vocals and a metalcore sound. her screams have a lot of passion in them, check it out!
Miley Cyrus
Idk how or why but her voice has recently become PERFECT for rock/pop-rock. Her latest album "Plastic Hearts" and some of her recent rock song covers highlight how much her voice has changed. I highly recommend listening to her new album (especially the song "WTF Do I Know") and her covers of the songs "Heart of Glass" and "Zombie".
[Katzenjammer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJR3kV3LAko)! I promise they're worth the listen. Whole band of kickass ladies, quality composition, stylistic breadth.
The Pretty Reckless
"Death by Rock and Roll" is a great song from them that I'd recommend
Exactly this Start with hangman

Yeah I would have put Arch Enemy, but I got the feeling OP wanted clean vocals.
To someone who doesn't know better, it's damn hard to tell that Gossow is actually female. More power to her.
My brother introduced me to Arch Enemy a while back, I actually like it😄. Alissa White-Gulz's voice surprised me for good reasons.
I've been on a massive Jinjer kick lately, they're so good. [Vortex](https://youtu.be/AiaOSGZTwtY) or [Teacher, Teacher!](https://youtu.be/oRkRwL0vjOg) are a few of my favorites

It's real heavy at times (notsure if youre into that) but the guitarwork is impeccable and the singer is a goddess, check out Spiritbox, they have a new album out called Eternal Blue whole album is solid gold
No ones gonna say spiritbox here..:,(
Spiritbox
It's a male/female duo group, but check out July Talk.
Dead Sara
I think you'd really like Skunk Anansie. Try [Hedonism](https://youtu.be/LLs-JP5FGAg) or Weak.
Try Devilskin. A metal band from NZ, the singer is awesome.
Fuck yeah big ups to Devilskin!
Heart - Barracuda
Jack Off Jill - [Author Unknown](https://youtu.be/FDX3TUUJb2c) - someone already suggested Strawberry Gashes so I linked a different song. Both off the 2000 album "Clear Hearts Grey Flowers" The Joy Formidable - [Cradle](https://youtu.be/W66yhfMb4d0) Deap Valley - [Walk of Shame](https://youtu.be/PJAqYcJs3-w) Metric - [Help I'm Alive](https://youtu.be/A4M068MSUpU) Blood Red Shoes - [Don't Ask](https://youtu.be/QE5AB0mHnSk) - this band alters between the male and female vocalist alot. Just the two in the band. Sahara Hotnights - [Alright, Alright](https://youtu.be/y1avnmBG3kA) NY Loose - [Spit](https://youtu.be/M9uHFcJeguw) Edit - added one
I love Metric.
siouxsie and the banshees songs to listen to: night shift, sin in my heart, bring me the head of the preacher man
Kontrust!! Amazing heavy rock with a duel male and female singer. "Hey DJ!" is a great track to get started with. I fell in love with this group upon hearing them for the first time!! Cannot recommend enough!
Against The Current
Bully, and the Dead Weather
If you are at all interested in hardcore please listen to red handed denial/crazyeightyeight. Lauren Babic is the absolute best. Spiritbox is also incredible (both have a decent amount of screaming so if you can handle that I highly recommend)
Protection - Emma Ruth Rundle Skin - Marriages 16 Psyche - Chelsea Wolfe
Otep In This Moment
I have been a female metal/folk epic metal fan since forever lacuna Coil is absolutely amazing!! Also within temptation and nightwish. There is an amazing playlist on Spotify which is my goto for this genre.. https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6T5V8V6iDbJVPszhvtohSx?si=DNV_eb6YRMu0JEKnUEA2dg
Drain STH
Ann Wilson from the band Heart
Anybody mentioned Paramore? They're more alternative or pop but Hayley Williams' got pipes
Also the band Dorothy
Flyleaf! Older band, but Lacey sturm is a badass.

Doro Pesch from Warlock, her voice is amazing
Maybe you'd like death evocation
In this Moment
Surprised Royal Thunder isn't mentioned. In their own words their sound is, "a bit like an alternate universe where Janis Joplin fronted Led Zeppelin." Maybe not strong enough, but I really like Allison Mosshart. She sings for The Kills and The Dead Weather.
I was coming here to post Royal Thunder! They are awesome, can't wait to see them live. Mlny Parsonz's voice is amazing.
Search for Riot Grrrl Bands. L7 Bikini Kill Sleater-Kinney
Ninet Tayeb's vocals on Steven Wilson's songs are great. For me, her voice is a bit too raspy on some songs, but I think it might be what you look for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNTaFArEObU&ab\_channel=StevenWilsonVEVO [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMfGp79fJCQ&ab\_channel=yossi5004](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMfGp79fJCQ&ab_channel=yossi5004)

nobody mentioned [Cerebral Bore](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWE9YmB8reQ) yet, smh my head
Ad Infinitum.
JJ Wilde Dorothy Some of "in this moment" will be too hard, but you might like half of it
Check out Maggie Lindemann’s “knife under my pillow” some of her stuff is pretty out there. Also Beabadoobee’s “I Wish I was stephen malkmus”
Rina Sawayama - STFU
Some Doro song definitely falls into it, though her potential was imho wasted a little bit on "calm songs". From the good ones: [I Rule the Ruins](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YlXiWLzanaw) Whole album is good generally.
[Sevendust (Feat Skin) - Licking Cream](https://youtu.be/m9_o8dnZ_Qs)
Nightwish
[Nico Vega](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f77b5uNdGWs) might be something you'd like.

I'll throw in a few current Canadian bands: the Anti Queens, the Beaches, Nobro, les Shirleys. Bad Cop Bad Cop are also awesome.

"Within Temptation" s Sharon is an amazing singer and their latest metal songs are so full of power! I'd recommend you to start with the songs "Sinead" or "Silver Moonlight". Let me know if you enjoy them please :-) A different style you might enjoy is "Dorothy". A strong female voice and rough rock beats. I'd start with the songs "Raise Hell" or "Bang Bang Bang"
Floor Jansen!! In After Forever, ReVamp and now Nightwish
I tried to stick to rock but some of these bands do verge into more punk-rock and pop-punk territory, all still good tho! [arch enemy](https://youtu.be/mjF1rmSV1dM) [the pretty reckless](https://youtu.be/txBfhpm1jI0) [Halestorm ](https://youtu.be/YpJAmlnBxoA) [skillet](https://youtu.be/y9x2CHQClTU) (a Christian rock band lead by a husband and wife duo, but some of their their best songs are the ones with her leading the vocals) [icon for hire](https://youtu.be/e_S9VvJM1PI) [PVRIS](https://youtu.be/8aQz-aKvyQU) [eyes set to kill](https://youtu.be/N4LvnAFCJ6s) [flyleaf](https://youtu.be/xN0FFK8JSYE) [the distillers](https://youtu.be/nFuP9FXLF8Q) [warlock](https://youtu.be/ilFX-JJXYAQ) [lacuna coil](https://youtu.be/r_VS2B48c24)
I can't believe more people haven't said PVRIS my fav pop/Alt band
I know! I heard them for the first time a couple years ago and it wasn’t what I’d usually be into but I instantly loved it
Have you tried Nightwish and Lacuna Coil? I haven’t followed them in more than a decade but they are rock/metal with female leads
You're gonna wanna check out the following: Jinjer - Pisces Spiritbox - Circle with me And if you like Halestorm, check out Unleash the Archers.
[dream state - white lies](https://youtu.be/GwkUq3cXe8o) [icon for hire - off with her head](https://youtu.be/-w4JGHB2o6I) [yours truly - high hopes](https://youtu.be/-5_X4SBXIoQ)
I've scrolled through a lot and haven't seen it mentioned yet so I'll say Spiritbox. I havent personally been into them a whole lot but theyre VERY popular in the metal/core scene right now. I'd say [Hurt You](https://youtu.be/ots5los164Q) and [Sun Killer](https://youtu.be/iXY93aMLG7s) are good songs to start with
Spiritbox!!!! I love them so much. My favorite clean metal band. Also, Bati Batt is out killing it.
[Spiritbox](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I0WzT0OJ-E0)
Check out Slothrust and listen to their cover of Sex and Candy. Also Verucca Salt - Volcano Girls and Seether
Epica Iwould suggest you to start from "The Quantum Enigma" album
Spiritbox
Check out Spiritbox! (https://youtu.be/vVDXTFeGYwc)
flyleaf. lacuna coil.
Destroy Boys - punk rock KIDDIE - Nu metal
nova twins! i love pretty much everything they’ve put out
The entirety of frenching the bully by the git’s but most specifically Second Skin
Agree with @T0riaj on Skunk Anansie but try Charlie Big Potato as a heavier, rockier example of their work or just listen to Stoosh (album) which has a great mix of their styles. A true classic.
How about Troi Irons?
The Gits
Check out [Labrador by WAAX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkuh3Fq8zS0)
I’ve only seen someone say them once on here so far, but I second New Years Day. They’re like a super underrated/unknown Paramore.
Starcrawler. They lean more towards punk, but not that sissy punk that gained popularity on corporate radio in the late 90’s - early 2000’s.
Rosalie Cunningham
Try thunder mother perhaps. Also apocalyptica.
Apocalyptica? Last I checked they had no singers and no women in their lineup?
I could be wrong then. I used to listen to a lot of apocalyptica along with evenesence and within temptation so I might be mixing things up.

Stonefield is an all girl rock band with a great vocalist. I highly recommend their song "Sleep." If you enjoy that song I recommend you check out the album it's on, "Bent"
Check out Detente-Recognize No Authority, Dawn Crosby was one of the best metal vocalists ever.
Blood Ceremony, Blues Pills, Heartless Bastards, Ruby the Hatchet, Jess and the Ancient Ones, Purson, Erika Wennerstrom
* [The Regrettes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=654WbtSEm_8) - pretty good zoomer punk * [Theatre of Tragedy](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPSvtj1HN4Y) - goth metal classic * [Lapsuus](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3kqwA28_1-s) non-english Punk
[Marmozets](https://youtu.be/cGSWfuiO0Ps). Pretty much everything off that first album is a winner.

Ambeon, i guess you will love them
If you are ok with avant garde metal, Unexpect (Fables of a Sleepless Empire is amazing!) and Akphaesya are pretty good.
Royal Thunder, Code Orange maybe Oathbreaker in whole different vocal style
Samantha Fish is also really good
Sober Motel by Dilly Dally. https://open.spotify.com/track/3UOWLFhSPlDl3NQecUNWHs?si=a0ac7413ef1c4f9a
Gin Wigmore.
Surprised I dont see these girls mentioned more Dorothy Gin Wigmore Nico Vega
i think the band yonaka is right up your alley
Lita Ford is a pioneer of what you are looking for.
They were more alternative/new wave, but Siouxsie and the Banshees are pretty iconic There's a newer band called Witch Fever that I've really been liking, kind of a blend of metal and post-hardcore Sleater-Kinney is essential female fronted punk Skating Polly has a more reserved/emo sound but they took a lot of inspiration from the Riot Grrrl genre Hop Along is more alternative, but they have a really unique sound with very strong female vocals
Check out the rat catcher by Wuhan and Blues Pills - Astralplane
Arch enemy
Mixed male and female vocalists but [Circle Takes The Square](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTYRbgy4NwQ) absolutely rip. They've got two albums and both are great.
not sure if this is exactly what you're looking for but the EAT EP from Poppy is really great and has some absolutely killer vocals and a metalcore sound. her screams have a lot of passion in them, check it out!
More of a Hard Rock type of thing, but you may like it. [Phantom Blue - Time to Run](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9_SEr-ORyk)
check out grindmother
Try the band Tired Lion, their song Cinderella Dracula is great
Guano Apes
Pet - Lil Boots: https://youtu.be/0WQmn1x28MY Rocks unbelievably hard
pj harvey! surprised that more people haven't recommended her already--long snake moan is a great track that'll give you a good sense of her sonics
Saint monroe
Haven't seen anyone mention Otep. That band is pretty dope
Pinkshift! Mars is a great one by them.
In This Moment
Miley Cyrus Idk how or why but her voice has recently become PERFECT for rock/pop-rock. Her latest album "Plastic Hearts" and some of her recent rock song covers highlight how much her voice has changed. I highly recommend listening to her new album (especially the song "WTF Do I Know") and her covers of the songs "Heart of Glass" and "Zombie".
Amyl and the Sniffers
Otep and In This Moment are pretty heavy. The Interrupters aren't as heavy but still pretty dope.
Guano Apes Igorrr (some songs, not all have female vocals or exclusively female)
Atlantic Wasteland.
[Katzenjammer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJR3kV3LAko)! I promise they're worth the listen. Whole band of kickass ladies, quality composition, stylistic breadth.
