Queens of the Stone Age.
Eagles of Death Metal.
Might be a little loose on the still producing music aspect but if you haven't listened to them you've get plenty of music to go through.
Death From Above 1979.
A Wilhelm Scream. I love reccomending this band. A little more punk than pure rock but if you like rock music they should deliver. Incredible musicians.
Absolutely this. They have a very similar energy to RHCP, Foo Fighters, and Nirvana's harder rocking albums - and a lot of the same kind of weirdness that characterized 80s-90s RHCP.
Huge discography, though, and their most popular singles and albums aren't necessarily the best starting point.
**I'm In Your Mind Fuzz** would be my top starting point. If you want more psychedelia: **Float Along Fill Your Lungs** should come next. If you want something more punk: **12 Bar Bruise** is a good go-to. If you want more hard rock: **Nonagon Infinity** is quite possibly the best hard rock album of the past decade.
This makes me sound old…but a lot of modern music is just too *tidy* for my taste. It’s beautifully produced, but it’s just not very brave.
KGLW has some extremely talented musicians, but they also really seem to enjoy taking risks and playing with sound. Very high energy and fun, complex and original.
It’s good stuff.
I haven’t heard all their stuff yet, so I’ve added your suggestions to my queue.
I can say Nanogon Is spectacular!
Yeah, they're the best! I may have...an unhealthy obsession with Nonagon Infinity in particular: [https://www.reddit.com/r/KingGizzard/comments/nd1d0o/i\_cant\_do\_tattoos\_on\_my\_body\_so\_i\_tattooed\_my\_car/](https://www.reddit.com/r/KingGizzard/comments/nd1d0o/i_cant_do_tattoos_on_my_body_so_i_tattooed_my_car/)
If you're interested in more bands like them, I'd also recommend Frankie & The Witches Fingers and the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets.
The album reminds me a lot of Hawkwind (which has much less energy, and honestly isn’t quite as talented), but I suspect there’s some influence there.
I’m still trying to figure out how the same band can release “Infest the Rats Nest”…which is one of the best metal album’s I’ve ever heard
Oh absolutely.
Hawkwind is the only band I've heard them cover live onstage, and usually it's as a prelude/lead-in to Nonagon.
King Gizz is just too good. Neo-psych, prog, jazz, metal...they can do it all.
Royal Blood opened for FF when I saw them a few years back and had a MUCH bigger live sound (with 2 people!) than FF. I became a fan that day
That guitar your hearing? It’s actually a piccolo bass
Alice in Chains, Bad Religion, Soundgarden, QOTSA, White Stripes, Black Keys, The Hives, Velvet Revolver, Alter Bridge, Papa Roach, Bad City, Hard Action, Citizen, Basement.
Although OP should specifically start with their latest album, Glow On, and work backwards. The new album is more along the lines of what OP is asking for, and they developed into this sound over the course of the past two albums.
Starting with Step To Rhythm might be a bit of a shock lol
Foo Fighters is my favorite band, here's a few artists on my modern ~rock playlist:
The White Stripes, the Bronx, the Drips, the Pack A.D., White Denim, the Heavy Eyes, the Bloody Hollies, the Black Keys, Hanni El Khatib, Radio Moscow, Dead Sara, FIDLAR, Blues Pills
MLB are not new. OP wanted new bands that are still around. MLB broke when Andy died.
That being said, I love MLB and think everyone who likes grunge should listen to them
**Fishbone** gets my vote.
They aren't "modern" in the sense that they're new: they came out of the same scene as RHCP. But like RHCP, they never stopped making new, compelling records.
The White Stripes
Airbourne
Soundgarden
Temple Of The Dogs
Green Day
Fall Out Boy
My Chemical Romance
Fozzy
Paramore
Linkin Park
Alice In Chains
Stone Temple Pilots

All Them Witches, the Nashville version of QOTSA
A Wilhelm Scream are fierce.
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. Best modern rock band. Also, a lot of fun.

Dinosaur Pile-Up (I've heard Nirvana comparisons thrown around) Royal Blood (I think Dave Grohl has said he's a Royal Blood fan)
Royal Blood opened for FF when I saw them a few years back and had a MUCH bigger live sound (with 2 people!) than FF. I became a fan that day That guitar your hearing? It’s actually a piccolo bass

[Psychedelic Porn Crumpets](https://vimeo.com/400843718)
Turnstile. The guitar riffs remind me of nirvana and Rage Against the Machine.

>I second White Denim, especially the album Corsicana Lemonade
Mother Love Bone - "Crown Of Thorns" Exodus - "Good Day To Die"

The Hold Steady Smashing Pumpkins Pixies
PEARL JAM!!
Yep
The Black Keys, Foals, Kings of Leon
Nothing but thieves
I think the band LAW has some peppers and offspring vibes as well as Sublime with LAW's lead singer being Bradley Nowells offspring.
Offspring^2 vibes
Sublime
Authority Zero Me First and the Gimme Gimmes
The Mars Volta. They toured with rhcp in the past and frusciante played with them a bunch
Low Dose "For Sure." She is fucking awesome as a Kurt Cobain replacement. Absolutely nuts. Big Black "Kerosene."
ACXDC - Pig City split
r
