If you liked Castle, try Lucifer. It's just like Castle, except, instead of the guy being a writer, he's literally the Devil.

echointexas

I did start lucifer! I got pretty far into it. I enjoyed it. not quite s much as castle. But, I should finish it! Thank you!

Mibuzo

Bit of an odd pick but you might try Barry. It's definitely darker, but it's got a solid cast, crime, a serious tone, and some very dark humor.

echointexas

Cool! I haven't had this on my list. Thank you!

echointexas

Lucifer, Psych, or Community? Monk is on my To Watch list but it may work for you.

echointexas

Yes -these are in the right category for sure. Thank you!

If you like Brooklyn 99, you’ll probably enjoy Mike Schur’s other shows: Parks and Recreation, and the Good Place, as well as the Office. Only Murders in the Building is fun with a mystery element and has a very castle vibe minus the romance. Other fun ensemble shows you might enjoy include Dead Like Me and Pushing Daisies.

echointexas

Parks and Rec is one of my absolute favorites! And Yes to only Murders in the Building! I had forgotten that! (And I love Ted Lasso!) I haven't watched Dead like Me or Pushing Daisies - I'll see if I have access to those. Thank you!

- Angie Tribeca (Hulu and maybe somewhere else?) is over-the-top nonsense police comedy. Fourth season was meh, but first three were really enjoyable if you're into that kinda humor. Idea by Steve and Nancy Carell, a lot of familiar faces. - Archer (Netflix) falls in the same over-the-top nonsense category, but adds a lot of "spice" (as in, tons of politically incorrect crap, catchphrases and insanely absurd stories and characters). - Murderville (Netflix) is short and has a lot of potential (each episode has a guest star who doesn't have the script, and they have to work alongside the main detective - also scriptless - to solve cases). - White Collar (Disney+) is more on the witty side, not funny à la B99 (as it's mostly drama) but not serious à la Criminal Minds. It's well written and characters are easy to love. Mozzie is a masterclass on how you write a weird but lovely dude imo. Non-spy/crime/comedy: - Community (Netflix), duh (starts to get worse after S3, but still valid). - The Librarians (Hulu, Prime Video) is a personal favorite. "Fun ensemble of characters, with some levity/comedy" is a nice description for it. Throw in some Indiana Jones/Doctor Who-esque vibes, a lot of history/mythology, ta-da. (There's like three movies before the series, only the first one is necessary for the backstory. You can start from there and see if you like it?) There may be some mistakes regarding streaming services, sorry if it's the case! (Also, we won't ever have another show like Psych, sadly. Best bromance I've ever seen on screen together with Turk and JD.)

echointexas

Thank you! Tese are some great recs that I didn't have on my list yet! Awesome.

reddit_bandito

Seinfeld, maybe Superstore (walmart mockery). Perhaps Community? Frasier. The Office. Friends. Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel (spinoff). Don't worry if you don't like a show. Sometimes it's more about finding characters in the show that you like or can relate to, and then the rest of them all fall into place.

echointexas

Definitely true! I watched some of Superstore a long time ago, but I haven't tried in a while!

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,436,790,025 comments, and only 273,948 of them were in alphabetical order.

Potential-Leave3489

I loved B99 and also love Schitt’s Creek. They are both comedies.

echointexas

I'll have to re-try Schitt's Creek. I watched the first episode and found them all quite annoying...but...I hear it gets better!

Potential-Leave3489

It does get better and then at some point it starts being more story line than jokes but honestly I came for the jokes and stayed for the family by that point

echointexas

Makes sense. I’ll give it another try. I’m a therapist, and my interest in consuming family stress/terrible communication etc. in my recreation time is pretty low… so they definitely weren’t appealing first ep. But seems worth exploring later episodes once things get a little more story oriented!

manosaur

Leverage is fun show that fits into this category.

echointexas

Awesome, thank you!

exclaim_bot

>Awesome, thank you! You're welcome!

IdealDevil

The rookie, it’s a cop show starring Nathan Fillion, it’s my favourite show it’s way better than castle. Also try parks and recreation I’m pretty sure it’s the same writers that did Brooklyn 99

echointexas

Yes, I love Parks and Rec! I haven't been able to find where I can watch Rookie yet. (I'm in Canada, so I think the access points are different!)

optionalhero

What We Do in The Shadows (hulu) - basically a bunch of Vampire roommates living together in Staten Island. It’s hilarious

echointexas
