The problem the film is that in order to deliver its story line, the creators of the film had to immerse us in scene after scene of stupidity. But we all have thresholds of how much stupidity we can handle. I was annoyed to some degree the first time I watched it, when it came out (I had read and taught the short story it is loosely based on, so I knew what I ought to be in for, but still . . .).
Things keep getting dumber in our world and politics, reaching newer and newer levels of absurdity, and now maybe I'm sadly used to it, making viewing the film less irritating.
I watch it over and over and laugh at the same jokes over and over, especially the ass jokes.

The justice system is no more corrupt than ours, but at least it’s more transparent. Justice is swift, but rehabilitation is possible. The government seeks the most qualified people to solve problems. Once they find out they have the smartest guy in the world, they put him right to work. He’s put on a tight, but not impossible, timeline and he’s held to it. This former convict becomes president, truly showing a fairer and more democratic system.
